In the city of love, Paris France, lies two superheroes named the miraculous ladybug and her partner, Chat noir, powered by the mythical jewels known as the miraculous, granting the wearer a specific ability for each jewel.
Through their efforts, alongside help using other holders, the two have defended their city from the dark forces of the villainous Hawkmoth and his akuma supervillain puppets made using the power of the butterfly miraculous and the negative emotions of his victims.
But all in all there was no villain or threat Hawkmoth sent that would cause them any real trouble… but that was about to change….
It started out as a normal day in the Paris Park, where birds were singing, children were playing, everything seemed fine, but this peace was quickly disrupting by a blast of energy, the people immediately ran away as source of the explosion revealed itself: an akumatized supervillain, this villain wore a suit reminiscent of a bomb squad uniform with aspects of a Komodo dragon, with bombs on his shoulders dynamite gauntlets, a satchel around his side sharp claws, tail and long forked tongue.
"That's right, fools! Run away, I'll show you all what a REAL explosives expert is!" The villain laughed, before he was struck by a yo-yo wrapping around his body. "What in?!" The villain turned to see a woman in a red jumpsuit covered in black spots and a black collar, as well as a small mask of a similar nature, she had bluish black hair that was tied up in pigtails. "Back off these people!" She yelled. "So you're The famous ladybug? I thought you'd be taller!" The villain growled in a desperate attempt to mock her. "Looks like you are in for a disappointment!" The villain then tugged on the yo-yo before reaching into his satchel and pulled out a bomb. "Maybe this will blow you away!" He then threw the bomb at his enemy before it exploded, the blast caused her to be blown back and let go of the yo-yo and releasing the villain, he then chucked another bomb at ladybug only for her to dodge it then another and another.
"You can't keep this up forever!" The villain laughed before being kicked in the back. "Now what?!" "Looks like you've got quite the explosive personality!" He turned around to see a new hero, this one had long blond wild and untamed hair with two cat ears on top and had a mask with catlike eyes. He wore a textured black skin-tight catsuit with metal details, matching gloves that have claws on the fingertips, with a black ring with a green paw on it and boots with a hidden wedge, silver toes, and paw-shaped treads, a golden bell on his neck, connected to a zipper on the front of his costume, and a long belt that wraps around his waist and hung out from the back like a tail. "What's your name? Mr. Boomy lizard?" "Well Cat noir, The name's Kaboomo! The roughest toughest villain you'll ever meet! But I'm willing to make your deaths quicker IF you give me your miraculous! Now!" The villain, Kaboomo, threatened. "Let me think… hmm No thanks!" Cat noir replied before pulling out a metal object before pressing a button on it, making it extend into a Bo staff, long and fast enough to hit Kaboomo in the face. "Fine, I'll just have to pry them from your remains!" Kaboomo then pulled out some more bombs and tossed them as the cat dodged them and joined up with his partner, Ladybug.
"I guess I arrived at the purrfect time m'lady!" The feline crusader said in a vain attempt to hit on her, to which she responded with an eye roll. "You don't have to be a villain, just give up your akuma and we can move past all this!" Ladybug offered, "And give up my power and freedom? As if!" Kaboomo retaliated before throwing bombs at the two heroes, to which they blocked by spinning their weapons, but the villain got smart and tossed the bomb under them and exploded.
The heroes were able to survive the blast and hid by a bench. "How are we gonna defeat a bomb thrower!?" Cat noir panicked. "The bombs he uses mainly come from his satchel." Ladybug observed, "The akuma must be in it! But how do we get near him without getting blown up?" Cat noir asked. "With the help of our friend the… lucky charm!" Saying the magic words, Ladybug tossed her yo-yo into the air which spun around and released a swarm of magic ladybugs that came together to form an item to help them with their fight: a jump rope covered in a ladybug pattern. "A jump rope?" "Are we supposed to play double dutch with him?" Through Ladybug's eyes she saw how the unconventional tool would help them out, highlighting Kaboomo's bombs and the rope. "I got it!" Ladybug exclaimed before handing one end to her partner. "You grab your end, I'll grab mine!" The two then ran to where the villain was and stood in front of him. "Now stretch!" The villain was confused by the heroes' actions as they pulled both ends of the jump rope to nearly their limit. Kaboomo shook out of his daze before pulling out a couple more bombs and tossed them. "Now spin!" The two heroes then spun the rope around as fast as they could, the bombs were about to land but thanks to the jump rope moving so fast that they bounced off the bombs and struck their thrower. "Oh fu-" The bombs exploded and knocked him down to the ground.
"Now that he's out of the way, Cat noir, mind doing the honors?" Ladybug said calmly before the feiline hero bowed. "With pleasure mlady! Cataclysm!" He then spawned a small black orb in his claw before absorbing it and tapping the satchel, causing it to quickly disintegrate and release a small black butterfly that scurried away. "No more evil doing for you little akuma!" Ladybug said, tapping her yo-yo and opening it up, showing a bright white light and dropping the string. "Time to de-evilize!" She then threw the yo-yo like a rope and snatched the butterfly, which closed before the insect could escape, and returned to its owner. "Gotcha!" With the threat neutralized, the superhero then reopened the yo-yo and released the now pure white butterfly. "Bye bye little butterfly!" She then grabbed the jump rope and readied the last step. "Miraculous ladybug!" She then tossed the rope into the air, which burst into a swarm of magic ladybugs that spread across the place, repairing the damage brought on by the villain, who was transformed back into a normal person wearing a bomb squad suit. "Ugh… where am I?" "Pound it!" The two heroes said proudly, fist bumping each other before a beeping was heard. "Well that's meow cue!" Cat noir said before Leaving the scene. "See you later kitty! Bug out!" Ladybug replied before going her separate way.
The later at the Collège Françoise-Dupont high school, ladybug managed to find a
perfect hiding place to change back into her alter ego: Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a girl who still retained the blue hair and eyes but wore a very dark gray blazer with rolled-up sleeves; the inside of the blazer was lined in white with light fuchsia polka dots, and it has black trimming. Underneath, she wore a white t-shirt with black stitching and a flower design below the collar, pink rolled-up loose jeans and light pink ballet flats with reddish brown soles, two black earrings on both sides of her head, and finally she carried a light pink purse with a thin black strap over her right shoulder. "Alright, glad that one didn't take long!" Marinette said to her kwami, tikki. "Guess Hawkmoth is running out of villains!" She laughed. "C'mon tikki, let's get moving!" The kwami then hid in her owner's purse as she walked to the school.
Once she was inside she was met with her friends, Alya Césaire, Martiniquan Creole-French girl with heart-shaped lips with brilliant crimson lipstick, grayish gold eyes, and a mole above her forehead. Her hair is wavy and reddish-brown ombre, growing slightly past her shoulders and having brilliant tangelo tips, and black horn-rimmed glasses, with a white spot on each side. Her outfit consisted of a white tank top underneath a short-sleeved plaid shirt with white, beige, orange, and purple stripes; light blue jeans, and white sneakers with black tops. Alya's boyfriend, Nino Lahiffe, a tall slender teenager in DJ-like attire such as headphones, an orange cap and wristbands of a different color on his right wrist. He had short dark brown hair, dark skin, and moderate orange eyes covered by black trim glasses.
But in the front seat, was none other than Marinette's obsessive crush, Adrien Agreste, a rather handsome boy, with brushed-back blond hair that is swept to the right, emerald-green eyes, a rosy tint on his cheeks, nose and the tips of his ears. He wore a white button-down jacket with an upturned collar and sleeves rolled up above his elbow, which he keeps unbuttoned. Underneath, he wears a black t-shirt with five horizontal stripes around the chest, which are colored in neon, as well as blue jeans and orange sneakers with white laces, and a logo of a black butterfly in a circle on the sides and a silver ring on his middle finger. Marinette smiled with glee, seeing him, Adrien was like the perfect man in her eyes, strong, handsome, carefree, compassionate, an amazing job as a model, a pure angel in a human body. One day she'll finally have the confidence to ask him to be his girlfriend, and eventually they'll get married! Own a little house, have three kids and a hamster named—
"OH ADIKINS!" Marinette's train of thought was interrupted by the sound of a prissy voice, she turned around and was pushed aside by Chloé Bourgeois, a slender woman with brilliant cobalt blue eyes, pale pink lips, and light honey blonde hair that was tied into a ponytail, her face was covered in makeup. She wore a sparkly brilliant yellow bolero that goes halfway down her forearms with a light blue button on the left side and two pockets over a white shirt with black stripes around the chest running down to the bottom of the waist, a sparkly brilliant yellow bolero that goes halfway down her forearms with a light blue button on the left side and two pockets over a white shirt with black stripes around the chest running down to the bottom of the waist, and finally she had a gold chain necklace, with a small gold disco ball, and white-rimmed sunglasses on her head. She strutted past Marinette with her minion, Sabrina Raincomprix, and sat across Adrien while Marinette sat behind her. "It's good to see you again!" Chloé giggled, fluttering her eyes, while Adrien simply nodded.
Marinette's blood boiled over this, Chloe was known for being the daughter of famous fashion designer, Audrey Bourgeois, and the mayor of Paris, Andre Bourgeois, and she took full advantage of those titles, while she saw herself as a better version of everyone else, what Marinette saw was a selfish elitist bimbo, who thinks she deserves everything handed to her because she's the mayor's daughter. What made her even worse was that she was hitting on her crush, it made her want to ring her neck and then—
Her sudden dark thoughts were interrupted by everyone cheering as saw none other than Lila Rossi, a teenager with tan skin, green eyes, pale vermilion lipstick, and a long, hip-length auburn wig with blunt bangs and two shorter pieces framing her face, which is loosely tied near the ends with orange bands. She wore a brilliant vermilion jacket over a dark gray romper that has tiny white spots and a ribbon bow. Additionally, she wears light gray leggings and brown ankle-length high heel boots, and multicolored wristbands on her right arm. "Sorry I'm late, I was on my way here when there was this kitten in the road and I managed to save it just as a car was about to hit it!" She explained, Marinette's dark thoughts transitioned from Chloe to Lila, she knew what was she truly was, while she says that she does good things and met celebrities such as jagged stone and the prince of Dubai, she knew the truth, Lila was nothing but a manipulative, selfish liar who tells tall tales just to get what she wants. And what she wanted was Adrien, but Marinette knew that and when she confronted her, Lila vowed that she'd ruin the girl's life and turn everyone she loved against her.
Before she could continue her dark fantasies, she calmed herself down, best to bottle those feelings, she knew what would happen if she didn't, and she wouldn't give in.
After the lesson ended, she had returned to her home at her parents bakery, the most popular place in Paris, but when she returned to her room, she was met with one thought in her mind. "You ok Marinette?" Tikki asked worriedly, "Oh I'm fine tikki, it's just something that villian said earlier that caught my attention." Marinette replied, "What's that?" "Kaboomo said that his akuma gave him 'power and freedom', is that true?" Tikki looked away for a moment before flying near her. "It somewhat is… as you know the butterfly miraculous has the power to make both heroes and villains, and it does enrich them with incredible power, but that doesn't mean they're free to do whatever they want, as they are bound by the will of the butterfly holder, in this case Hawkmoth, to do whatever they command, but there exists a catch." Marinette looked worried as her kwami flew to her ear and whispered something to her. "Wait, but how come no villains used that before?" "Mainly because they didn't know of it to begin with!" "I see your point!" Marinette laughed. "Don't worry Marinette, just because that villain says that it made him better doesn't mean that akumatization is a good thing!" Marinette smiled feeling reassured.
Elsewhere at Lila's apartment, she stared at a photo of Adrian and Marinette, with mari's face scribbled out, that bastard baker was not stealing her future boyfriend from her, she tried to get her to fall for her tricks but it appears that she is smarter than the rest, but that doesn't mean that she can use some of her own talents against her. It was then that she got a call from an unknown contact. "Hello?" Lila answered. "I believe you have a plan for the baker girl and my son?" Asked a stern male voice. "Don't worry, by the end of the week, Marinette will have the worst day in her life…."
On the other end of the call, stood a tall man with pale, light grayish cerulean eyes and combed-back light blond hair black-framed silver glasses. He had a white high collar dress shirt underneath a medium gray striped vest with red buttons and a cream-colored dress jacket without buttons, along with a red and white-striped ascot tie. black-framed silver glasses. He had a white high collar dress shirt underneath a medium gray striped vest with red buttons and a cream-colored dress jacket without buttons, along with a red and white-striped ascot tie. He also wore red dress pants and a pair of white dress shoes, with black soles, and red shoelaces and on the middle finger of his left hand, he had a silver band ring. This man was Gabriel Agreste, famous fashion designer and Adrien's overprotective father. "This better work, if you know what's good for you." He threatened before hanging up. "If this works, then miss dupain-cheng will be my greatest akuma yet, even surpassing style queen!"
"Uh sir?" Gabriel turned to see his assistant, Natalie, a tall woman with pale skin, bluebell eyes covered by black and red striped framed glasses and black hair with a streak on the left side of her head that is dyed a red color and was tied in a bun,she wore a red turtleneck sweater, a black dress jacket, black pants, and black medium-heel shoes. "Why are you so obsessed with akumatizing that girl?" "Out of all the people in Paris I have akumatized, she seems to be the most resistant to my powers." Gabriel answered, "If she is strong willed emotionally, imagine what she would be capable of as my akuma!" "How do you know that she will obey your commands?" Natalie asked cautiously. "The same way I use on all my akumas… offering a chance at revenge!"
It was then that a small purple kwami flew near Gabriel. "Uh sir I'm not sure all this akumatization stuff will end well…." "I didn't ask for your opinion nooroo…." Gabriel growled. "I'm just saying because…" "I don't care, leave me be… now." Nooroo then recoiled before hiding behind his master once more.
The next day at the school cafeteria, Marinette sat alone and was putting the finishing touches on her newest sketch, a wide brim fedora with a black bow and covered in glitter, she drew a couple poses of her wearing the hat in different styles. "Doesn't that look nice?" She turned around and saw Lila standing there with a cup of tea in her hand and a smug look on her face. "What do you want Lila?" Marinette growled. "Oh nothing! I was just looking at your sketch and I thought it was missing something!" "Like what?" Lila then poured her tea all over the drawing. "Some color!" Lila laughed before turning away, leaving Marinette in utter shock and anger. "Agh! That took me three hours to finish!" She growled.
The next few days weren't much better, Lila seemed to have a vendetta against Marinette, she berated her every chance when they were alone, she tripped her over almost every time when they left the classroom, and when she tried to notify the principal, that snake would just come up with another lie and make her seem like the victim. Every time this happened it made it harder and harder to keep calm as the bottle was filling up and up.
As ladybug, she traversed through the streets of Paris, it seemed to be the only thing that could calm her down. She swung around on her daily patrol, trying to keep her head clean from all the pain and discomfort she felt as of late.
All was going well until she was slammed mid swing onto the roof of a building. Getting her bearings she jumped back up and readied her yo-yo, in front of her was her ambusher, an akuma supervillain, this one wore a tight jumpsuit with neon colors and lightning bolt designs, and a visor. "Hello ladybug!" The villain laughed. "And who are you supposed to be?" "Speeder that's who!" The villain, speeder, replied before dashing at inhuman speeds towards before ladybug dodged the attack as the villain fell from the building and landed on the car. Ladybug immediately jumped down to inspect if he was alright, only for him to get up and spring attack her. "What lovely earrings you have! Can I take them?" Speeder asked sinisterly, going for the insect super heroine's earrings, only for her to grab him, throw him, and tie him up with her yo-yo. "Argh! Oh come on!"
"I don't understand!" Ladybug growled, "Understand what?" Speeder asked confused, "If you know how dangerous he is, why are you people willingly submitting to Hawkmoth's evil powers!?" "Simple really! Power, freedom—" "I get that but what else?!" Ladybug interrupted, "Because he offers you a chance at something you never thought you'd get!" Speeder continued, catching his captor's interest. "What?" "See ladybug, I was a simple guy who was almost late at everything." Speeder began. "Every day I almost miss work, being late to stores, and even limited edition figurines!" Ladybug gave a confused look. "I'm an abided toy collector." Speeder answered. "Anyway, I had a date with my girlfriend, and I had the perfect plan in mind too! A movie, dinner, everything was in tip top shape!" Ladybug then was reminded of her dream date with Adrien and how she wanted it to go. "But Father Time didn't agree with my plans and I ended up getting in traffic, got a parking ticket, everything was like a giant obstacle course! But when I FINALLY Got to see her, she said I was too slow and dumped me!" "Man that must've been hard…." "Oh you have no idea… by the time I got to my house, all I did was scream at the top of my lungs, I wished that, for ONCE, I'd like to be faster…." "And hawkmoth granted that wish didn't he?" "You bet he did! He offered me the power to become faster than anyone on earth and I gladly accepted! It was like a dream come true! I could go wherever I wanted and didn't have to worry about time! All I had to do to return the favor was to get your jewels and bring them to him!" "But don't you see the chaos you're making?" "Yeah but it's a price to pay for finally having the power to make things better!" "But what about the other villains? They attacked lots of innocent civilians!" "I don't know about those guys but for what I've heard, the thing that got them to that was when they got f**ked over by somebody else! I mean you've wanted to take some good old fashioned payback right?" That question struck ladybug the most, she knew all too well that she wanted to get revenge against certain people, especially a certain liar. "Well… sometimes I do, but it's not wrong to feel emotions like that, it's wrong to act on them!" "Tell that to some of the guys I know who got akumatized! From what I've heard the asshats who screwed them over ended up apologizing because they KNOW now not to f**k with them!"
"Well speeder, I love to have continued this conversation but I have an akuma to purify!" Ladybug said before pulling speeder to his belly and grabbing the visor. "Oh well, it was fun while it lasted…." He sighed, "But hey!" Ladybug turned just before she could destroy it. "I know I won't remember any of this but take my advice, sometimes Hawkmoth can bring you up when you feel down!" "Yeah, if you're an akuma that is!" Ladybug then smashed the visor in two and released the butterfly before doing her usual routine of purifying it and fixing the damage with her lucky charm. "Don't worry I'll let your girlfriend know what happened, bug out!" Ladybug then swung away just as Speeder was de-evilized.
The next day at school Marinette walked down the hallway thinking about what the villain said, about how he hit rock bottom before Hawkmoth pulled him out… could he have been right? Maybe allowing akumatization would benefit her? No, no! What was she thinking?! Hawkmoth has done serious damage to the people of Paris through and through, there's no way in HELL she'd actually think that it would be some kind of therapeutic treatment!
It was then she heard the voice of a liar. "Oh Marinette!" She called out, against her better judgment, Marinette reluctantly walked towards the source of the voice, entering the girl's bathroom, where Lila was leaning on the sink with that smug expression. "What do you want now Lila?" Marinette growled. "Oh nothing… I just wanted to chat about Adrien." Lila began. "What about him?" "I decided that while I warned you that you would lose your friends and Adrien would be mine, but… I decided to give you a second chance." "Excuse me?" "I know it sounds sudden and ridiculous, but recent events have made me decide to at least consider a deal, give up on this little crusade against me and I'll stop tormenting you, deal?" Marinette's eyelid then twitched. "Are you serious…?" She began, "You think I'm just gonna let you just abuse the trust of everyone around you, make me look like the villain and use me as a punching bag with the rest of my friends joining In!?" Marinette stood closer against her foe, but all she did was keep her smug smile. "I knew you were too dense to comply, so I thought, why not make sure Adrien doesn't get to have a sweet looking girl… now!"
Marinette turned only to get slashed across her right eye, she fell to the floor before looking at her attacker with her good eye. "C-Chloe?" The mayor's daughter, holding a kitchen knife, then looked down at the wounded woman with little regret, "Sorry Marinette but Lila said that if I didn't do it, she would have Adrien all to herself…."
After a hospital emergency trip, Marinette would be able to retain her vision in her right eye but was left with a hideous vertical scar. She sat on a bench in the park. "Hy Marinette!" She turned to see the love of her life rushing towards her and kneeling down. "I heard what happened in the bathroom, are you OK?!" He said worriedly, but his answer came in the form of Marinette showing her scar. "Oh my god…." He gasped covering his mouth. "Who did this!?" Marinette simply muttered something under her breath, making Adrien more concerned so he put his hand on her shoulder. "Marinette it's me… Adrien…." He said reassuringly, "You can trust me! Just tell me who did this to you…." "It-it was Lila…." Those words shook Adrien to the core, he knew Lila was a sociopath but… this is going too far. "Lila did this!?" "Well her and Chloe…." "Chloe too?!" "She said that Lila would have you all to herself if she didn't go through with it." Adrien then sat next to her. "Oh I'm sorry you had to go through all this… I thought Lila was just going to make you look bad in front of me but… I never expected anything like this to happen…." "It's not your fault Adrien…" "No it is… if I actually did something about it… none of this would happen." "So what do you suggest we do?" "We have to tell someone about this…." "But wouldn't Lila just weasel her way out of it like always?" "That's a risk I'm willing to take…."
"Well there's… another option that I was thinking about…." Marinette said anxiously, "What's that?" Adrien asked. "Well I was thinking that… maybe I should let myself be akumatized?" Adrien was shocked upon hearing that. "Marinette, I understand you're hurt and frustrated over what happened…." He began. "But isn't that a little too far?" "I know it sounds wrong… but I feel that it would finally teach Lila a lesson!" "But you would be submitting to someone just as evil as her if not worse!" Marinette sighed. "Do you know what Lila said to me after she was de-akumatized?" What…?" "She said that she and I were at war… with you… and she'd tear my life apart until I had nothing…." "That sounds awful!" "It was and she seemed to make due on her promise, but then I saw ladybug having a conversation with an akuma, and he said that he had suffered greatly and that hawkmoth didn't just give him great power but also a chance at something he didn't have before, whether it was revenge or something else. And all that Lila has done I'm starting to think that it's my only other option." Adrien then held Marinette's face. "I understand you're falling apart and you're starting to give up, but Marinette… give me a chance to help you and promise me that you'll stay strong and don't give in to hawkmoth…." Marinette smiled… tomorrow will be a better day….
The next day Marinette put the finishing touches on her newest fashion project: the fedora she created from her sketch, she was able to salvage the drawing despite the snake's attempt to destroy it. After checking a few things to make sure it was perfect, she then packed her bag and went to school, with a newfound confidence, knowing that Adrien would do the right thing.
Elsewhere in an unknown location a large window opened revealing a man surrounded by pure white butterflies that scattered upon exposure to the bright sunlight. This man wore high dark purple pants and a dress shirt without a collar, over which he wore a darker purple jacket with a black butterfly-shaped lapel and black gloves and dress shoes without laces. He also wore a silver/gray cowl over the majority of his face and neck and finally in his hand was a dark purple cane with a purple gemstone on top of it. This man was none other than Gabriel Agreast's other identity and ladybug and cat noir's arch nemesis: the villainous hawkmoth. "I can feel an anger burning unlike anything I've felt before." He said feeling his prey's emotions. "It's hidden under the surface… waiting to come out, it will be my greatest creation yet!" He held out his hand as one of the butterflies fluttered over before he cupped it, soon dark energy infused into the insect. Once the process was complete he removed his hand and revealed the pure white butterfly was now pitch black with small purple cracks around it, the butterfly then escaped his hand and flew towards the window. "Fly away my little akuma, and evillize her! Break the chains of this tortured soul!" He ordered as the akuma escaped from the lair and fluttered throughout Paris to find its target.
As she arrived at the school, Marinette was greeted by Adrien with a proud look on his face. "So?" Marinette asked, to which Adrien raised his hands with glee. "I told the principal everything! This oughta teach her a lesson!" He answered gleefully. Marinette immediately responded with a hug. "Thank you…" She whispered smiling before blushing as she realized what she just did. "I-I didn't mean to do that! It just happened o-out of nowhere!" She stuttered before hearing someone they both knew.
"Oh hey guys!" Speak of the devil, Lila strutted to them and told them in between. "I just wanna say I'm sorry for what happened!" The two were dumbfounded by this. "You are!?" "Yeah, look I guess that I wanted you so badly Adrien that I didn't even know what I was doing!" "I know you're feeling remorse for what you did Lila, but you could have blinded Marinette here or worse!" Adrien retaliated as Lila frowned. "I suppose I can't let bygones be bygones but I hope you'll eventually understand…." She then headed to the school, leaving the two confused before heading inside.
Inside the school however Marinette was left with a bunch of rather judgmental faces staring right at her. "What's going on?" "You know what's going on Marinette!" Kim shouted . "I don't understand, what are you talking about?" "You attacked Lila with a knife and got that scar, that's what happened!" Ayla retaliated, leaving both Marinette and Adrien in shock. "What!?" "Attention, would the following students come to the principal's office immediately: Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Lila Rossi, thank you." The pa announced as Marinette reluctantly headed to the desired location.
In the principal's office, the principal, Mr Damocles, sat down while both Marinette and Lila sat across from him. "I've been hearing rumors about the incident yesterday." He said sternly before turning to Marinette. "There is something that might help me confirm them. Miss Dupain-Cheng, empty your bag please." Marinette then grabbed her bag, opened the zipper and emptied its contents onto the desk, which were normal school supplies but to everyone's surprise, out came a kitchen knife and some gloves, the principal sighed. "I was hoping that the anonymous tip would be wrong…." He said sorrowfully, "But it appears that to be the truth." "Mr. Damocles, I swear I don't know how those things got in there!" Marinette then realized something. "Of course! Lila planted it there! You have got to listen I would never—" "I've heard enough! Marinette Dupain-Cheng… I really wish I didn't have to do this, but I have no other choice but to expel you." Marinette went slack jawed before turning to Lila. "Both of you are dismissed!"
After leaving the principal's office, both Lila and Marinette were talking with one another, "I told you you'd be all alone and Adrien would be mine…." Lila said sinisterly. "You were all too easy… you see Marinette, all I have to do is sweet talk them and they eat it up like bees to honey." Marinette's blood boiled, the bottle was starting to overflow. "Now all that's left is one little thing." Lila then grabbed a nearby support beam and began slamming her face in it over and over until she was badly bruised and bleeding slightly. "Aguh! Ow! Marinette, why'd you do that!?" "Marinette!" The blue haired girl turned around and saw her own friends with expressions of outrage. "No I didn't!" Her pleas were in vain. Soon her own friend's immediately began berating her while some took Lila to the nurse's office.
Their words pierced her soul. "Stop with the nonsense Marinette!" "You went too far this time!" "If you'd just have been nice to Lila none of this would happen!" The constant hatred and hostility towards her caused to drop to her knees. It was then that the bottle didn't just break… it exploded like dynamite….
"AHHHHHHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
She immediately dashed away from the scene and ran and ran and ran. While the akuma had witnessed the target's explosion and immediately followed.
Marinette's outburst led her to hide herself in the girl's bathroom where she threw various objects at the walls and mirrors. "AUGH! GOD F**KING DAMNIT!" She screamed in the midst of her private rampage. "They all served her, WHEN SHE WAS CLEARLY IN THE WRONG!" She immediately smashed the mirror before slumping to the floor, soon tikki flew in to comfort her. "I know you're going through all this Marinette. But you have to calm down." "Oh SHUT UP TIKKI!" The kwami gasped. "Why should I calm down? Hell why should I even care about them anymore!?" The raging girl then stood up and repeatedly slammed her fist into a wall. "They're all traitors! Traitors! Traitors! TRAITORS!" Marinette then layed down and curled up in the fetal position. "That's not true Marinette! What about Adrien?" He stood up for you when the others wouldn't!" Tikki said before handing the hat she made over to her. Marinette saw it and picked it up. "True but that didn't help in the slightest! No matter what I do to her she always manages to slip away, nothing works anymore!" Marinette heard a fluttering noise getting louder. "Unless…."
Tikki immediately realized what Marinette was about to do upon seeing the pitch black butterfly. "Marinette, no!" She pleaded as the akuma reached closer to her, only for Marinette to grab it and stare blankly at it. "Marinette please! Akumatization is not the way, there's still a chance to make things right!" Tikki continued to plead while Marinette continued to stare at the akuma as it squirmed between her fingers. "Remember the promise you made to Adrien!" Those words caught Marinette's attention. "That's the sad thing about promises tikki…" She said blankly before putting her earrings in her bag and grabbing her hat. "They'll eventually be broken."
She let go of the akuma before it made contact with her hat, causing it to be engulfed by darkness. Tikki, knowing what had happened, immediately flew away to get some outside help.
Marinette then stood up as a purple butterfly shaped emblem overshadowed her face. "So we finally get to meet face to face…." Marinette said, smiling slightly. "I believe we're unfamiliar though…. I'm Marinette Dupain-Cheng, and you must be Hawkmoth." "Ahh, nice to know you're familiar with my work!" Hawkmoth replied from his lair, communicating through telepathy. "Through Marinette Dupain-Cheng won't be your name much longer, Destrutica…" "Yeah I'm not going by that name." That left Hawkmoth in surprise. "Ok… how about Queen doomsday?" "Do I look like a queen to you?" "Uh…" "Ok let me stop you right there, I'm going by the name I choose, not some cheesy lazy off brand name you come up with for your villains, got it?" Hawkmoth groaned. "Ugh ok fine miss name police what do you want to be called?" Marinette thought about it for a few minutes before ending with something that would be perfect. "How about… The Black Phantom…?"
Hawkmoth thought about that name and agreed. "Ok then, Black Phantom." He said slyly. "I'm giving you the power to exact vengeance against anyone who wronged you with the help of the darkness by your side." He explained. "But I don't give this kind of power for free. In return you must track down ladybug and cat noir and bring their miraculous' to me!" Marinette then looked at her hat, feeling hesitant at first but soon her memories flashed of what her friends, no not friends, those traitors, said and what that snake had done. Succumbing to the hatred and pain she felt in her destroyed heart, she put on the hat. "They. Will. Pay."
Marinette then raised her arms and closed her eyes as a dark aura consumed her body.
It was on that day that Marinette Dupain-Cheng, aka the miraculous ladybug had perished, and from the ashes… The Black Phantom was born….
