Chapter 6: Infiltration - Part 1

Suki edged closer and closer to what was the palace gardens yesterday, now reduced to a patch popping with shades of brown and beige. But it was still the least guarded part of the palace so it was a place to start. There wasn't a door into the palace close by but there was a window maybe four meters above it.

The place she worked for the past three years was now the most unsettling place she'd seen since the hundred year war. It felt like the air itself was against her as it got colder and colder as she got closer, making her insides shiver. The glacier they formed was drastically larger than it seemed, covering the horizon in its shadow.

But she couldn't be taken back now because of some architectural intimidation, she just had to get in, get to the messenger hawks and get out. With impeccable gymnastic skills she mastered when she was ten she made her way to the window using the ice around it and gracefully leaped through the window and landed…

She slipped and hit her head on the floor. The floor was also freezing and almost completely coated in ice. "What was that?" a voice came down the hall. Suki forced herself back up and looked at her options.

The new Ozai member came into the hallway and towards the window, nothin. He could've sworn he heard something, maybe a bird or a fire ferret or-

Suki dropped on him from the top of the outside and trapped him in a scissor lock, he tried to claw his way out but Suki kept a hold until he stopped breathing and she dropped him to the ground outside. Suki reentered the palace and snuck her way towards the messenger hawks, they'd need to keep them for whatever ransome they wanted so they should be perfectly fi-

"SQUAKKK" a painful squeal came from the hawk coop

Suki approached with caution where it came from. "I just want her to believe in herself you know" a voice came from the coop

"SQUAKKK"

"We've been through so much together and I just feel I owe her the skills she needs and the revenge we both deserve" the voice explained "thanks for listening those flamers wouldn't understand"

Suki turned her head expecting to find two people but he just saw the male waterbender from the asylum with a messenger hawk in his hands.

"SQUAKKK" the hawk squealed in pain as the waterbender plucked out the last of his feathers

"I better get back to helping her, you have a nice day now" he said, throwing the hawk with a bunch of other featherless hawks shivering in the cold. He walked out of the coop right under Suki gripping the ice on the ceiling, he stopped.

Suki held her tongue tight hoping he wouldn't look up. He felt the wall for a second or two before leaving, obviously suspicious…"mind must be playing tricks" Suki dropped to the floor, after that she needed to act faster than she thought.

She ran into the coop and yanked on her hair seeing most of the hawks featherless and suffering on the icy floor. She tore off a piece of her armor and gave it to them to keep warm. There had to still be one who could fly, there was no way, no way they'd be that stupid to cripple all their hawks.

"Brahk" a faint noise came from the back of the roosts, Suki went and dug around to find one young hawk hiding.

"Yes," Suki whispered to herself. She carefully picked up the hawk and brought him to the notepad.

'Sokka, Aang, Toph we have a problem. The palace was over-run and I don't know how many survivors there are. Zuko is safe and made it out but we need you over here right now. There's two insanely powerful waterbenders leading them, be ready for anything' she wrote and stored in the hawks harness.

She brought the hawk to the release hatch but it was frozen over, she'd have to release it where she came in. She ran back over to the window and released the hawk to deliver her message. Suki stepped out the door proudly accomplishing-

"AHhhhhhh" a scream came from deep in the glacier, it sounded like Janna

"Nooooo" someone else screamed, Suki couldn't tell who it was but she knew she recognized it

She looked outside and considered leaving anyway but inevitably went back for them. She slowly and carefully made her way to the source of the screaming, more and more screams and whimpers kept coming. Where were all the New Ozai members, they just took this place over and now they were nowhere to be found not even outside

Suki kept following and made it to what she swore was the end of the palace, after that it was just ice without a floor underneath. She took a deep breath of the thick and cold air and went further. It grew darker as she went further, the ice walls turning a darker blue almost black. This was obviously made in a hurry, it wasn't like those smooth and refined walls in northern water tribe it was more rigid and cratered.

"Alright let's do this again" she heard finally locating the source of the screaming. An open doorway leading into a seriously echoey room. She peaked inside to see an enormous dojo of some sort with one of her fellow Kyoshi warriors forced into the center of the room. "Alright you wanna live do this routine until you can't" he said instructing her to do a punching motion constantly

She started the routine and the female waterbender stood in position and raised her arms towards her. The Kyoshi warrior maintained a hateful scowl towards her captors "you think this will last, you will be overrun, captured and exec- BWAHHGHHHOO" the Kyoshi warrior said before the waterbender pulled all the moisture from her tongue into the palm of her hand

"Focus on you routine" she enforced

"You can't do this" the familiar voice from earlier said, this time Suki finally knew, Katara

The Kyoshi warrior kept up the routine but seemed to get really tired quickly, which was weird. They should be able to go on much longer than that. She started to shake and cry before halting the routine

"Keep going if you can" the male waterbender said as he bended an icicle up to her throat

"Stop, you don't know what you're dealing with" Katara isisted. Her hands were trapped in two ice cuffs frozen to the ground on a high pedestal so she could see everything.

"You are going to finish our training" the female said without breaking focus "unless you'd rather we figure it out ourselves" she said continuing to torment her fellow warrior

After Suki glanced back she couldn't get her eyes off the warrior, after a minute of whatever she was doing she had bloodshot eyes and pale skin, her arms shaking after so much punching.

This had gone on long enough, Suki needed to find them a way out of there. She snuck into the room and parcored toward Katara's pedestal "Katara" she whispered desperate to avoid an echo

Katara slowly peaked "Suki" she whispered "quick get me out of here"

"What you say?" the waterbenders said from the ground level

"I SAID LET ME GO YOU PSYCHOTIC KILLERS" Katara faked to avoid them seeing Suki. Suki tried to chisel the ice off with her fan but barely made a dent

Katara peaked over to them and made sure they were clear "if I escape they'll kill whoever's left" Katara's words froze Suki in her place "Kyoshi warriors, palace guards, civilians, you gotta get to them" she insisted

Suki desperately wanted to help Katara but it only made sense to rescue the prisoners (her fellow warriors and friends). And even worse they wouldn't even be hard to find, all she'd have to do was follow the water and blood smeared out the other doorway.

The two waterbenders were still focused on the one Kyoshi warrior (she would definitely be back for her) while Suki stealthily parcored her way down and towards the door

"DON'T" Katara went back to yelling to avoid giving any suspicion

Suki followed the trail through the ice hallways and past the empty holding cells. "You know you could help me with this" a voice down the hall made Suki leap to the ceiling. She did that move before but never when she had to keep hold of ice that was both slippery and freezing.

"You know I have a bad back," another New Ozai member said to one holding a large box as they passed underneath her.

They both melted the ice covering a door lock and opened the door. "WOAH" One shouted as the other tossed the crate into his arms

"Yeah that's a pretty bad back" he said before taking the crate and setting it in the closet

Once they were gone Suki dropped back down and warmed her fingers. Her curiosity got the better of her and she opened the closet door, it was just a few crates labeled 'Explosive" she broke one open and saw a bunch of the weird pouches with fluid inside, she took a few for them to look at later.

She kept on going until she reached a strange hole in the floor, it wasn't a hatch or anything it was like a mongopher's tunnel. She could see the bottom and it shouldn't be hard for her to jump back out, once she found them she'd have to perform what first aid she could and escort-

Suki paled the moment she got in the hole, her fellow warriors (Her Friends!) were piled in a bloody pile inside this ice grave. She fell to her knees and started to wretch, what little food she had left in her stomach flushed out of her and onto the floor. She managed to push herself up to see a pile of her friends, Teenage Girls that she knew most of her life, laid dead in the ice. And not just her fellow warriors, but other palace guards, and the workers at the mental institution, and even what looked like civilians. This place didn't even look like a mass grave, it was more like a freezer. Suki went from pale to bright red as she understood what those monsters did to her friends and all these other people, they had the audacity to come out here unprompted and slaughter so many good people, They Didn't have the Right- "AHHHHHHHHHHH" Suki screamed before slapping her mouth

Suki leaped out of the hole and ran down the hall, there was no way no one heard that. She hid behind some ice as a shadow made its way into the ice before fading into the darkness of the cave, the male waterbender stepped inside and looked around. He leaned down and felt the ice, closed his eyes, and seemed to be meditating or something. Suki stayed put as he did hopefully he didn't- HE LOOKED RIGHT TOWARDS HER. He raised himself up from his position and starred in her direction, somehow he knew she was there.

Suki refused to watch anything else and ran off when he looked to the side, she ran all the way back to the dojo hyperventilating, she tried to force herself to focus but her eyesight became blurry and she had chills going down her arms and hands. She slowly walked into the dojo without thinking and leaned against Katara's pedestal until she was sitting, lesson learned never lean against ice when you're already shaking.

TAP

Suki leaped out of her sitting position and opened her fan when something hit her on the head. She looked around but that murderer was kicking the Kyoshi warrior they were torturing, not even noticing that the hit came from a piece of ice Katara kicked to her from above.

She wasn't going to tolerate this in any way, ignoring Katara she opened her other fan and charged at the Waterbender. "AHHHHHH" she screamed as she charged.

The waterbender turned to see her and didn't seem that interested; she just smiled, looked up, and waved her right arm back. As she heard Katara's screams she quickly ducked and let the waterbenders own projectile crash into herself shattering Katara's restraints and leaving her. Suki acted fast while her opponent was down and picked up the Kyoshi warrior, recognizing her as Aihan, and offered Katara her hand.

The two of them ran out of the dojo and into the ice halls, they should have a decent amount of time before-

A wall of ice blocked their path but Katara almost immediately bended them a hole through, more and more ice walls appeared and Katara did the same thing. After some more running but right before they reached an open window Katara was yanked back and fused into the ice except for her face.

"Where you going, you'll miss dinner" the male waterbender said

Katara tried to use her breath to bend the ice around her but it didn't do much. Suki laid Aihan down and drew her fans. "SUKI, GET OUT OF HER NOW!" Katara pleaded

Suki kept her fans drawn and took a deep breath "You're going to pay for what you did to-WAHHHH" Suki felt an unmatched pain throughout her body. The Male waterbender had his hands raised, torturing her from the inside. She put her fans back and lifted Aihan before trying to break Katara's ice.

"GET OUT NOW YOU CAN'T HELP" Katara ordered

Suki's pain got worse every second she was there, she looked back at one of the last Kyoshi warriors on her shoulders, she looked to the female waterbender joining the male, and she looked to Katara blanketed in too much ice for her to break. Suki began to quelch in pain, she could still move but it was like every cell in her body was being ripped in half.

"I'm sorry" she said towards Katara before leaping out the window

She was ready to break Aihan's fall, still feeling the pain the waterbenders were doing to her, then she froze. She wasn't falling anymore, she was hovering and the pain intensified.

"We're…doing…it" the male waterbender choked out

Suki looked up at the sky and there was only a first quarter moon. How were they doing this?

Suki could still move, just slower. She was able to get a hold of Aihan's fan and threw it through the window. This threw the waterbenders off guard just enough to make them drop Suki, Suki didn't waste any time before running for her life, and Aihan's life. She had to at least make it back to Zuko and tell him about the threat. Katara was still in danger, and she was being held hostage by Bloodbenders.

Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, don't worry we'll be seeing what Azula, Zuko, and Ty Lee were doing in the next chapter, you may want to brace yourselves.
