Note for this fanfiction: This story occurs in my main Star Wars: The Bad Batch Timeline. I don't know exactly when, but it's early into the Darkest arc. This means Omega has armour and is an In-Training Clone Commando. Also, no Doctor Aphra here, sorry, but she's 7 at this point.

It was a warm Spring afternoon on Christophsis. Hunter and Omega have only narrowly escaped the Empire and are headed for the meeting point about a kilometre away. The star lit the area, and footsteps on the hard crystal ground echoed. The scent of crystals wafted as Hunter.

"There's a ship. Hang on, that's not ours," Hunter said, stopping suddenly, his senses warning him that something wasn't right. Hunter and Omega slowly approached and saw a dozen dead troopers from both sides.

"Not again. This looks like what happened on Bracca," Omega said fearfully. Hunter shushed Omega, and they crept towards one of the troopers.

"Cad Bane?" Omega asked.

"No. But someone equally proficient," Hunter replied.

"Thanks for the compliment, Hunter," came a voice from nearby. Hunter and Omega looked up and spotted the perpetrator.

The figure was Mandalorian, female by the armour. The armour was Gold and Green in colour, and Omega could tell that at least the helmet was Beskar. The woman was covered in weapons, and for a moment, Omega thought this was what she could look like in her armour in five years.

"Omega, get behind me. If I get shot, you're strong enough to carry me back to the craft," Hunter said.

"But Hunter," Omega attempted to protest, but Hunter gently shook his head. Omega nodded and backed away a few steps, keeping Hunter between her and the Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian adjusted her position slightly, and that was when Hunter and Omeg realised something was different. What, they weren't sure, but they were more guarded.

The Mandalorian stepped off her craft and said, "I've fought many Clones. Regular, ARC, Commando, I even fought Jango to a stalemate. Once you've fought enough of each type, you know how they all work,"

"You're in for a surprise," Hunter replied.

"I don't think so," the Mandalorian replied, "Out of respect, the name's Sarita,"

"Hunter," Hunter replied.

"Omega," Omega replied.

"Now we know each other's names. Let's get down to business," Sarita replied as she pulled her cape back, revealing two blasters. This was another ominous sign.

"She's a Bounty Hunter. Boba warned me about her," Omega said.

"And he was right to warn you," Sarita replied.

"Who hired you?" Hunter asked.

"Who do you think hired me?" Sarita replied, "Don't answer that. It was a rhetorical question,"

"You're after me for Doctor Hemlock's plans on Mt. Tantiss," Omega replied.

"Swing and a miss, young lady, though why is classified," Sarita replied as her hands drifted towards her blasters. Hunter's and Omega's hands did likewise. And for fifteen seconds, the tension in the air of a shootout hung. It was similar to Bracca with Cad Bane until it wasn't.

Sarita was fastest to her blasters, firing half a tenth faster than Hunter and a full tenth faster than Omega.

Unlike Bracca, however, all three went down. Omega had been shot while Hunter had been stunned. Sarita had been hit in the head by a sniper shot from Crosshair, and although the Beskar armour stopped the round from penetrating her helmet, the power from the blast was enough to knock her flat on her back, briefly dazed.

Knowing that Crosshair was the one who fired the shot, Sarita let off a flashbang flare to temporarily blind Crosshair, allowing her barely enough time to drag Hunter onto her craft.

"Omega's down! Hunter's been captured! I repeat, Omega's down! Hunter's been captured!" came Crosshair's voice through Omega's intercom as Omega struggled to recover from the blinding pain that hit her from the blaster shot. She watched as Crosshair let off another sniper round, this one missing. A third shot also missed the craft as it took off, but a fourth shot managed to damage one of the engines, ensuring Sarita wouldn't get far. One final shot got a tracking beacon under one of the wings, ensuring that Kuan Si and his forces would know where to find Sarita.

As Omega attempted to pull herself into a sitting position, she felt a hand on her shoulder, pushing her down.

"Easy, Omega. Tech's grabbed the Marauder. Wrecker will carry you onboard, and Kuan and Khan are coming. You'll be treated soon," came Crosshair's voice from above her.

"Hunter," Omega groaned as she tried to sit up, winced, and lay back. Soon, the Marauder was there, and Wrecker carefully picked Omega up and carried her inside.

"Sorry I'm late," Tech called, "Someone called to be picked up,"

Omega looked over as best she could and saw Irala Zo waiting at a bunk. Wrecker deposited her carefully onto the bunk, and Irala helped remove her armour, leaving Omega in only the black suit she wore under her armour.

Irala checked Omega and said, "Omega, is it OK if I pull your top up? I need to check the wound,"

"Where did the blast hit me?" Omega asked.

"Base of your diaphragm. So it won't have to go up very far," Irala reassured.

"It's OK," Omega replied. Irala pulled her top up, resting it between her undergarments and the wound.

"Echo, I need IVF. Wrecker, can you find a Bacta patch and pain relief? And Crosshair, get the bandages," Omega heard Irala call before Irala got to work on the wound, working to clean it as best she could.

"Hunter," Omega groaned.

"Hunter will be OK. You will lie here and rest until you've recovered, alright? Or do you want me to get Kuan or Khan to use the Force to restrain you?" Irala replied.

"I could do with Khan's company at the moment. Maybe he can take my mind off things," Omega admitted.

Irala chuckled and shook her head as the others arrived with everything needed to help treat Omega's injury. After setting up the IV drip, which included a sedative and a powerful painkiller, Irala informed Omega, "You'll need to be sedated for this, Omega. I'm sorry. I know you have a bad history with sedatives, but your brothers will be here to ensure I don't try any funny business. Alright?"

"Alright," Omega sighed, still nervous about being sedated.

Due to the extensive scarring on Omega's upper arms, Irala struggled to find a spot to put the IV in.

"Kriff, you're burning up," Crosshair snarled as he checked her forehead, "Where's the IV?"

"I'm trying. If that Demagolka Nala Se had done more to reduce scarring, I'd have a better time getting this IV in," Irala angrily replied. Finally, after several tense moments, Irala found a spot to place the IV. After getting it into Omega's arm, Irala placed a bacta cotton ball around the injection site.

"That will prevent more scarring," Irala sighed.

"Thank you," Omega replied as the sedative took effect, and Omega drifted off to sleep.

Later that night.

Omega groaned in pain as she awoke. The effects of the sedative gradually wore off, and Omega could perceive more of her surroundings. It sounded like it was late at night on the craft. It was warm and cozy, and all Omega wanted to do was go back to sleep. However, the pain of her injury meant she couldn't. The bandages she could feel around her torso informed her that the treatment was successful. The only light came from night lights in the ceiling. The sounds of a machine checking her vitals echoed, and the scent of Bacta and blankets wafted as she lay on a soft bed. Omega realised that she wasn't on the Havoc Marauder. She had been transferred to the Lightning Strike, the flagship of Kuan Si's Clone resistance movement.

"Are you OK?" came a voice from nearby. Omega turned slightly and saw Khan So, her Kaminoan brother, sitting with her.

"Hurts," Omega sighed.

"I know, sis. It's hard. Getting shot isn't fun. But it would be best if you rested. The Bacta is doing its work. You'll be back on your feet in a few days," Khan replied.

"How long have I been here?" Omega asked.

"A few hours," Khan replied.

"And Hunter?" Omega asked.

"Being rescued as we speak. We should have Hunter back within the next 24-48 hours," Khan gently took Omega's hand and smiled, which she returned.

"Thank you, bro," Omega replied.

"No problem, sis," Khan replied, gently kissing Omega on the forehead, "Now get some sleep, alright?"

"I can't. It hurts too much," Omega groaned, "Can't you or Kuan, you know, use the Force to heal me?"

"That's an Ability that's above mine, and probably dad's, skill level," Khan sighed, "But I think I can temporarily reduce the pain using the Force so you can try to sleep,"

"You can?" Omega asked.

"I know the theory. Shaak Ti taught me," Khan replied, remembering that he was, for a time, Shaak Ti's secret padawan. Knowing that he couldn't put his hand directly on her due to the injury, he kept his hand about a centimetre from her torso and closed his eyes. After several moments, Omega felt the pain and sensory overload dissipate.

"Did it work?" Khan asked.

"It did, thanks," Omega replied as she felt tiredness overwhelm her again, and she drifted back to sleep.

It was another 24 hours before Kuan's forces rescued Hunter. Omega spent most of her time resting, scrolling through her datapad, anything to distract her mind from the boring situation she found herself in. It was milder inside the recovery room, though the sounds, scents, and lights hadn't changed. Omega was dozing in bed when she heard a familiar voice shout, "I'll prove who I am, Evens, after seeing my daughter. Now, back off if you know what's good for you!"

"Hunter?" Omega called.

"Do you want me to help you up?" Khan asked as the sounds of Hunter's footsteps rapidly grew louder.

"That would be appreciated," Omega replied. Khan used the Force to help Omega sit up as Hunter burst into the recovery room.

"End bed," Irala pointed to Omega's bed when Hunter entered, not the first time she had encountered a worried dad wanting to ensure their kid was OK.

"Omega, are you OK?" Hunter asked.

"I'm OK. Are you OK?" Omega asked.

"I'm fine," Hunter was relieved to see Omega sitting in bed.

"Thank you for helping," Hunter called to Irala, who smiled, "My pleasure. I'm here to help,"

"And thank you for keeping her company," Hunter told Khan.

"Anytime," Khan smiled.

"What happened to you?" Omega asked.

"The Mandalorian realised that Crosshair had managed to damage her ship, so she had to get to a nearby station. She took two samples of my blood, but that was it. I don't know why she wanted my blood," Hunter replied.

"Your blood?" Omega asked, confused.

"Something to look into later," Khan replied, "For now, your comfort is more important,"

"Agreed," Hunter sat with Omega and gently patted her on the head.

"How long before you're released?" Hunter asked.

"TWhen the wound's closed," Omega replied, "Plus one day so I don't risk accidentally re-opening it,"

"I'll be here to ensure your recovery is smooth," Hunter replied, hugging her again, which Omega returned.

The following day, Omega would be released after her wound was fixed. Omega would get her armour repaired, and after a big thanks to Irala and Khan, the Batch would head back to Dantooine, Omega, with a new shocking story to tell her friend.
