Chapter Nine

As Christina was walking down Ashland Street, trying to find any idea as to what would spark a Ghost and an attorney to be viciously murdered when she heard her phone vibrate in her pocket. Her face split in a relived smile as the name "Sam" flashed in the middle of the screen.

"Sam," she sighed in her greeting as she stopped in front of a darkened abandoned building. "Thank goodness you're okay."

"Me too." Sam replied and she could hear pages being flipped as if Sam was reading a book. "Where are you? I didn't see you at the police station and I don't think I mentioned you or Dean."

"Did you see him?" Christina asked worried about her other older brother.

"No but we both came up with a possible solution to Dana Shulps."

"Ashland Street?" Christina asked curiously. "I stumbled on it while I spoke with Bobby."

"You talked to Bobby? Why?"

"Well, I was scared when I saw you being taken away from police. I tried calling Dean and got someone else talking and I felt as if they were trying to track my phone call. What the hell is going on anyways?"

"They think Dean murdered Giles and his wife." Sam's answer made Christina stop in her tracks. "But that's only because he was covered in Giles's wife's blood and his warrant from when a shapeshifter caused a few deaths in St. Louis."

"But if that Shapeshifter was killed, yes I was told about that when I saw Rebecca a few days before I met up with you guys. But if that Dean was killed, why are they taking crazy pills and arresting Dean?"

"It's how police are. But for now, I'm trying to figure out what really happened on Ashland and why the ghost is trying to tell us."

"Yeah sounds good...but I don't know what I should do."

"Just look around and see if you can spot something that might us figure out who this ghost was. Maybe you can sniff her out."

"Funny, Sam." Christina said rolling her eyes giving a weak chuckle. "Anyways I'll see what I can find out. As for what happened when you were picked up by the police I was stopped to ask why I was in the area but I was able to leave. Then I left as I didn't want to give them any reason to take me and I called Bobby to see about what it was going on."

"Okay sounds about right. Look, someone's at my hotel room door, I'll see you on Ashland in a bit. Not sure when but stay in a safe place until I can get there."

"Sounds good. Talk to you later." Christina sighed and looked around. She stared at the large dark buildings and sighed. As she started to walk down the street trying to figure out what building she needed to go, she stopped when she kept hearing a voice whispering causing her to stop and look around her paranoia starting to spike. "Hello?" She asked the empty street not seeing anything that would resemble a person and felt her stomach as she tried to make sense of what she heard or if this was just her mind playing tricks on her.

Taking in a slow breath Christina continued to walk down the street keeping her head on a swivel to make sure nobody would sneak up on her when she caught a scent of fallen rain and she looked around at how clear the sky was. She thought back to when the many times she caught the same scent of fallen rain in past cases and was curious about why she would smell it when she saw a tow truck ,followed by a police car, with the Impala on top of their flat bed. As she spotted the car being towed away the rain smell vanished almost like she was supposed to be looking around to spot it. She didn't start walking slowly trying to keep herself inconspicuous as she followed the police and tow truck down the darkened street completely ignoring the current case as she figured it was more important that Dean got his car back before the police discovered the fake bottom and see all the weapons that would clearly cement his persona of a crazed killer.

After she broke in a steady jog she arrived at the small impound lot where she watched the driver of the tow truck slowly getting the Impala off of the flat bed while a uniformed policeman stood watching. She was thankful she decided to wear a dark hoodie as she was able to quickly hide next to the large barbed wire fence to watch them standing there not saying a word. But as soon as the car was placed on the ground in the middle of the yard the policeman sighed and handed the tow driver a piece of paper.

"Alright thanks for that." The tow driver said with a small grunt. "I can't believe that someone who could kill anyone as important as Anthony and Karen could drive such a sick looking car."

"Well, I think I heard that famous serial killer...Ted Bundy I think drove a nice Lincoln so yeah." The policeman said making the tow driver nod his head. "Alrighty then, when you can go ahead and get that filed away. I'll go tell my superiors that I got it taken care of."

"Sounds good. Have a nice night officer." The tow driver said and headed for a small building whose lights were on.

"Night." The officer sighed acting like he just wanted to get out of there fast. Turning around Christina watched as the policeman climbed into his cruiser and slowly backed up.

Ducking down to make herself as small as possible she watched as the cruiser left before turning down the street. She prayed that the officer didn't notice her next to the fence as he drove past. After a few minutes of no cars even driving down the street, Christina sighed to steady her nerves of what she was about to do. Looking back at the small building and seeing the lights still on she saw the owner settling down in the chair and let out a yawn. She waited for a few minutes as she quickly jumped the fence landing in the shadows as she landed. She had to squat for a few minutes when the tow driver must have heard her or seen movement but as he didn't investigate his job he went back to just sitting there until the phone must have began to ring when he reached over to answer it.

Christina waited for ten minutes to see him hang up, sigh and then leave towards his tow truck. There must have another tow job and that the shop was going to be empty for long enough for her to get her brother's car. She smiled at her luck when she saw a car near her that she could hide behind and to be able to keep an eye on the Impala. When the tow driver drove off, Christina took a slow breath to calm her nerves as she rushed over to the small building and checked the door. Seeing as the door was locked Christina pulled out her trusty bobby pin she kept in her pocket and got to work in unlocking the door.

The lack of cameras made Christina feel rather uncomfortable since the Impala paperwork and keys were still on the counter. Happy that the owner was lazy and didn't want to file the paperwork, Christina grabbed hold of the keys and grabbed hold of the paperwork and walked back to the Impala, using a handkerchief to wipe down the door knob and everything else she had accidently touched. She never liked having to break the law to get what she needed but this felt like a dire circumstance that she needed to bend the rules just a bit.

The air felt different as she walked back out after making sure the door was relocked and she walked sprinted towards the Impala and slid behind the wheel. With a deep sigh to calm down her nerves she quickly turned over the engine and drove out the still opened impound gate and drove in the opposite direction as the tow driver and police. She did however need to find her brothers as the town was feeling like someone was watching her. It had been nearly seven years since she last committed a crime, that this felt like it was shifting her back into her younger self.

As Christina drove through town trying to not act suspicious she found a small twenty-four diner that she decided to park in the back amongst several other cars to blend in so it wouldn't be too obvious. She sat there and took a few deep breaths as the adrenaline of actually breaking and entering while stealing a car, even if it was a families vehicle, it brought back that same excitement she had felt when she first committed a B&E when she was fifteen.

Her stomach rolled and she let out a groan before heading into the diner trying to keep her adrenaline leveled so that she didn't appear suspicious. She found a booth in the corner just a perfect advantage of angle to be able to keep an eye on the Impala as she looked over the menu that a very tired waitress had placed in front of her before walking off probably going to grab a coffee to stay awake as it was late in the evening. She glanced up at the parking lot and after she noticed that nobody was around the Impala that shot off any red flags she felt a presence sitting across from her. Looking up she felt the color in her face drain as she recognize the person that sat across from her.

"Long time no see, Christina." Came the inky voice of Gordon Walker his face trying to remain calm even though his eyes were dangerously narrow as he took in a slow breath making the air around them super cold. "You look good. I guess even a witch like you can have a good life."

"I'm no witch, Gordon." Christina said her eyes trying their hardest to look intimidating. "I'm not just someone who has a better moral compass then a heartless scarecrow like you." Her voice slightly cracked making Gordon give a sneer, enjoying the panic in her voice. "But I'm glad we're in a place with other people." Christina said, slowly sliding out her pistol and had it sitting next to her right side glad she had practiced pulling out her weapon without much movement. "What do you want Gordon. There aren't anything that should warrant a visit for you."

"Course there is." Gordon's voice was dark, foreshadowing something sinister. "I wasn't going to come and talk to you but I couldn't pass this opportunity."

"Well, I have to say your smell is making me sick. Thanks for throwing off my appetite." Christina reached into her pocket and pulled out a few bills going to leave something for the waitress, feeling bad for leaving without ordering anything. "I'd appreciate it if you left first."

"You know I don't trust you enough to go before you." Gordon said his eyes narrowing. "How would I know you wouldn't put a couple in my back?"

"Like I said earlier. Too many witnesses." Christina said seeing the other patrons eating not caring the two awkward position between Christina and Gordon. "Well, I was going to leave and not order anything as you kind of killed my appetite but I think I'll have some soup." She gave him an uncomfortable smile and leaned in her seat trying to make him uncomfortable. But he was proving on being a very stubborn making Christina have to work on getting him to go away without resorting in attacking him.

When the waitress walked up to take their order, Gordon turned to look at her, and Christina tossed down a few bills and quickly escaped running out of the restaurant and racing to the Impala. But as she was about to open the driver side door she was shoved up against the frame and Gordon's face wild with rage as he was only a few inches from her face.

"You know you are just like your brothers. Always thinking you're better then us! Thinking you can get a pass if you're nothing more then a monster in disguise!"

"What are you talking about?" Christina asked scared of the sudden attack and knew this was just a crazed hunter and she was scared that she was alone.

"You have an older brother who is a monster. You and your brother are just blind because of it."

"The only monster that is in my eyes is you." Christina said sending a knee in between Gordon's legs and when he was first hit, Christina shoved him away and quickly got into her Impala. As she quickly started the car, Gordon turned to glare at her before she pulled away and sped away from the scene. Her heart raced in her chest as to why Gordon would accuse one of of her brothers was a monster when all they ever did to him was foil his plan in killing a group of vampires. But as she drove away trying to find a dark alley to hunker down in thoughts on if Gordon meant why John had told Dean that if Sam went dark side that he would have to end it. After she found a spot to stay she pulled out her cellphone and dialed a number.

"Hello?" The voice was tired and for a brief second Christina felt terrible for calling.

"Christopher," Christina said her voice serious. "Tell me everything that your mom and grandmother told you about my brother."
