There's not much action in this one, as most of the action's in part 2.
In the city on Sunday, April 3rd, Peter was walking down a street in Chinatown, on his way to visit Aunt May at FEAST. He turned right around a corner, before he spotted a young redheaded homeless girl across the street, wrapped up in a jacket. He checked to see if there was no traffic, then he ran across the street towards him.
"You okay?" Peter asked.
The girl looked up at him, shocking him slightly, for she looked almost exactly like Mary Jane, expect her eyes were blue instead of green like his friend/sister from another mother.
"What?" she asked sadly.
"Sorry. You look like someone I know." Peter said.
"Oh." the girl sniffed.
"Who are you?" Peter asked.
"Angelica Jones." the girl said.
"Are you here alone?" Peter asked.
"No. I'm waiting for my Dad." Angelica sighed. "We don't have much money and have been on the streets for months now."
Peter stared at her, feeling sorry for her as he crouched down near her.
"I think I know of a way to help." he said. "You heard of that FEAST shelter?"
"Yeah." Angelica said.
"Well, my Aunt May works there." Peter said. "Maybe I can help arrange a place there for you and your Dad until he finds another job."
"Really?" Angelica asked, tears of happiness in her eyes.
"Yeah." Peter said. "Just stay here. I'll be back in a few minutes."
He took out his phone as he walked away, leaving Angelica alone, who looked at her hands, which felt warm despite the darkness.
"Just what is happening to me?" she wondered.
Meanwhile, nearby was a woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, was looking over at Angelica from across the street.
"I found you." she smirked. "You'll make a great addition to the Brotherhood."
She turned around and walked into a nearby building, then walked up the stairs into a room, before she changed her appearance. She soon was a blue-skinned woman with dark red hair, with yellow eyes, and wore a white revealing outfit, with gloves and boots, as well as a gold belt with skulls on. She was Raven Darkhölme, a Mutant and leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, who was known as Mystique. She picked up a phone that was on a table, then put it to her ear.
"I've found someone who might be of use to us." she explained. "And I know just where to find her."
"Good." came an older male voice on the other end. "I'll have my son and the others on standby in case you need help."
"Understood, Magneto." Mystique said.
Back in the street, Angelica sighed, as Peter came over to her.
"My Aunt said she'll sort something out for you and your Dad." he said.
"Oh, thanks." Angelica said, before turning around. "Oh, here comes my Dad now."
Peter turned slightly and saw an older man walking towards them, who had Angelica's hair and nose shape.
"Dad!" she said, running towards him.
Mr. Jones hugged her tight, as Peter came towards them both.
"Dad, are you okay?" Angelica asked, pulling away.
"No." Mr. Jones said. "I still haven't found a new job."
"Dad, look, I've met someone who might be able to help." Angelica said.
Mr. Jones looked up at Peter, who approached them.
"Dad, this is Peter Parker." Angelica explained.
"How can he help? He's around your age." Mr. Jones said.
"I'm 17." Peter explained.
"Okay, slightly older as you've just turned 16, Angel." Mr. Jones said. "How can he help."
"My Aunt works at FEAST." Peter explained. "It's that shelter that helps the Homeless get back on their feet."
Mr. Jones looked from him to Angelica.
"Dad, we need something to help." she said. "This might be our best chance."
"Okay." Mr. Jones sighed. "We'll see how it is. Do you know where it is?"
"I was on my way over to see my Aunt as she's working there now." Peter explained. "I've already called her so she can arrange something. She'll meet us there."
"Okay, then, show us?" Mr. Jones asked.
Peter nodded, then he walked past them both to show them the way to FEAST.
As they walked off, Mystique - in her blonde disguise - stared at them all.
"You'll soon be one of us, Miss. Jones." she thought.
A little later, Peter had led the Jones' to FEAST, seeing Aunt May waiting outside for him.
"Oh, Peter, there you are." she said, approaching them.
"Hey, Aunt May." Peter said. "These are the Jones', the people I told you about."
"Nice to meet you both." Aunt May said. "I've spoken to Mr. Li and he's setting up a room for you both."
"Thanks." Mr. Jones said. "I'm Bart by the way, and my daughter's called Angelica."
"May Parker." Aunt May said. "Now come on in and we'll get you both sorted."
All four of them entered the shelter, seeing it was packed today, as people were all sitting at tables, some playing cards or chess, while others just talked to each other. They all walked along past them and more people lying in their beds, before Martin Li approached them all.
"Ah, May." he said, approaching them. "I see your nephew brought the people he told me about."
"Yes, Mr. Li." Aunt May said. "Bart and Angelica Jones."
"Well, come with me and I'll get you two sorted." Martin promised.
He turned and walked off, with all but Peter following them.
"Well, hopefully they'll get some help here." he hoped.
"Hey, Pete!" a familiar voice called.
Peter turned around and saw Miles coming towards him, along with a Korean looking boy with glasses on, who looked slightly chubby.
"Hey, Miles." Peter said. "How's it going?"
"Oh, great." Miles said. "Just helping my Mom out tonight, you know."
"Miles, you gonna introduce us?" the boy asked.
"Oh, yeah, sorry." Miles said, rubbing the back of his head. "Peter, this is Ganke Lee, my best friend from my old neighbourhood. Ganke, this is Peter Parker."
"Nice to you meet you." Ganke said, holding his hand out.
"Same here." Peter said, shaking it. "You here visiting Miles?"
"Yeah." Ganke said. "Hasn't been the same without him, but I understood why he had to transfer."
"Hey, I understand." Peter said. "I'd feel the same if my best friend had to do that."
"I'm just glad Miles is doing okay." Ganke said. "He's told me about you and your friends helping him out, especially that Anya girl."
"Well, she's the same year as you guys." Peter explained. "Me and the others are in the year above so she gets to help him more."
"Oh." Ganke said. "I see."
"Have you been okay?" Peter asked. "I mean, Miles told me your old school got trashed during that Sentinel rampage a couple of months ago."
"Well, I'm okay." Ganke assured. "My new school's okay, but, it's just not-"
"Hey, I'd feel the same if that had happened to my school and I got separated from my friends." Peter assured.
"Especially your girlfriend?" Miles asked.
"Yeah, especially her." Peter sighed. "MJ'd probably the only one I'd often see, as she's my next door neighbour."
"The red-haired actress?" Ganke inquired. "Miles told me about your friends and what they're good at."
"Really?" Peter inquired.
"Well, it didn't see no harm, Pete." Miles said. "If that's-"
"It's okay, Miles." Peter assured, patting his arm. "I understand, and I'm sure the others would too."
"So, why are you here, Pete?" Miles asked, changing the subject.
"Just thought I'd visit my Aunt May." Peter explained. "But I met a couple of homeless people on the way and decided to help them get in here."
"That's nice of you." Ganke remarked. "Who's your Aunt anyway?"
"Coming right towards you all." came a voice.
Peter turned as Aunt May approached them all.
"That's her." Peter said, turning back.
"Hi, Mrs. Parker." Miles said, waving.
"Miles." Aunt May said. "I see you've brought a friend with you?"
"Yeah. This Ganke, my best friend from my old school." Miles explained.
"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Parker." Ganke said.
"Thank you." Aunt May said.
"Well, anyway, Ganke and I are leaving." Miles said. "See you tomorrow, Pete."
"See you, Miles." Peter said. "Again, nice meeting you, Ganke."
Ganke nodded as he and Miles walked off towards the door, then Peter turned to his Aunt.
"Well, are things good?" Peter asked. "With Angelica and her Dad, I mean."
"Mr. Li's got the Jones' sorted out, Peter." Aunt May assured. "
The next morning, at the Xavier Mansion, Kitty Pryde phased out of her bedroom door, already dressed, and began to walk down the hallway. Once at the stairs, she walked down them, to see Jean and Storm in the kitchen talking to each other with a cup of coffee.
"So, have you made any plans, Jean?" Storm asked.
"Well, we want it be outdoors, Ororo." Jean said. "So, if you could, make sure it's bright and sunny on the day?"
"I will make sure of it, my friend." Storm promised.
"Thanks." Jean said. "Scott and I want the best wedding we can have, including the weather."
Kitty smiled, as Scott and Jean had become engaged a few weeks ago, and as such, the wedding was being planned very often.
"I'll make sure it's bright for you two." Storm promised.
"Hey, guys." Kitty said.
Both older women turned to her as she approached them.
"Hey, Kitty." Jean said. "Just get up?"
"Yep." Kitty said. "Ready for anything today."
"Good to know." Jean said.
"Hey, look, I overheard you talking about planning your wedding, so sorry for eavesdropping." Kitty said.
"It's okay." Jean said. "Everyone knows, so they might as well know the planning."
"You discuss anything with Susan Storm about this, as she's married already?" Kitty asked.
"Yes." Jean smiled. "And you know, as we're such good friends with the Fantastic Four, I think I might invite them over."
"No harm I suppose." Storm said. "The other friends we have though, I'm not so sure of."
"I know what you mean." Kitty sighed. "Peter and Gwen have to keep their identifies secret to protect their loved ones, so they're out."
"And the Avengers have their own wedding to plan." Jean said. "We shouldn't burden them with ours."
"Still, we should at least let them all know if they can't come." Storm said. "At least they can send their congratulations to you both."
"True." Kitty said. "There's no harm there, Jean."
"You're right." Jean said. "Well, I'll see you a little later."
She turned and walked off, leaving the others alone.
"Is anyone else up?" Kitty asked.
"Just Scott, as far as I know." Storm explained. "He's in the hanger bay beneath the basketball court."
"Oh." Kitty said. "As they're engaged, he and Jean are sharing a room now?"
"Yes. Oh, by the way, could you find Rogue and tell her to meet me downstairs?" Storm asked. "I need to talk to her about something."
"Sure thing, Storm." Kitty said.
She turned and walked off, passing Kurt as she went up the stairs.
"Good morning, Kurt." she said.
"Ant zee same to sie, Kitty." Kurt said, as they passed each other.
Once at the top, Kitty turned and walked off towards Rogue's room, but as she passed by Remy's bedroom on the way, she could hear Rogue's voice giggling, telling her Rogue was in there.
"Oh, great." she grumbled, not surprised. "They better be decent in there."
She approached the door, then knocked on it, getting the giggling to stop.
"Who's there?" came Rogue's voice.
"It's Kitty. Can I come in?" Kitty asked.
"Hey, wait...?" came Remy's voice.
Kitty phased through the door, but then gasped at the sight.
"Ah!" she gasped.
She saw the couple were tangled up in the bed covers, as they were both naked under it, their clothes scattered all over the floor. Rogue held part of it over her chest to cover herself, while Remy just lay down, as his bottom half was covered, expect for the feet.
"I said 'wait', Petit." Remy said annoyed.
"All we needed was a few minutes t' get decent." Rogue assured.
Kitty turned around and saw Rogue's bathrobe on the door, along with Remy's.
"Since when do you two have each other's stuff in the other's room? Scott and Jean, I understand since they're engaged now." she said, annoyed,
"Well, we moved into together a few days ago." Remy explained. "We took my room as it's bigger dan Anna's."
"Uh!" Kitty moaned. "May I ask why?"
"It's gotten hard f' me t' sleep without mah man beside me." Rogue said, looking at Remy. "He felt th' same, so we decided on t' share a room togethah."
"Her room can to someone else." Remy said. "Da next Mutant we find or something."
"So, whut's with th' sudden arrival?" Rogue asked.
"Storm wants to meet you downstairs, Rogue." Kitty explained. "So, please get dressed and be there?!"
She turned and phased through the door and out of the room, then shuddered.
"You okay?" a boy's voice said.
Kitty turned left and saw Bobby Drake standing there.
"Oh, Bobby." she said. "You don't wanna go there."
"Let me guess; Rogue and Gambit in bed again?" Bobby said.
"Yeah." Kitty said, as they walked off. "Oh! I might never be able to get that out of my mind. They're both-"
"Oh, don't tell me?" Bobby asked. "I don't wanna know."
"Ugh! And now they're sharing a room full time." Kitty shuddered. "They better not be like that every morning when they wake up?"
"I hope not." Bobby said. "You had your breakfast?"
"No." Kitty said. "Storm asked me to get Rogue before I could."
"Well, come on, then." Bobby said. "I haven't had mine either."
"Okay." Kitty said.
They both walked off down the hallway, Bobby wrapping his arm around her, blushing as he did.
In the bedroom, Rogue sighed and lay down beside her lover.
"Guess ah bettah get washed an' meet Ororo." she sighed.
"Ro's gonna pay for ruining dis moment." Remy scoffed. "I was looking forward to our replay."
"We can always do that later, hun. Still, we can showah togethah before ah meet her, if ya want t' that is." Rogue suggested.
She got out of bed, pulling the covers over her slightly as she approached the bathroom door, before turning around to see Remy coming towards her, not covering himself up.
"I'd never turn down a chance to see you nude, chere." he flirted.
"Oh, ya'll nevah change, swamp boy. Now c'mon." Rogue sassed.
She opened the door and dropped the bed covers from her, before they both entered the bathroom to get washed.
Downstairs, Kitty approached Storm, who was now with Hank, as Jean had left for some fresh air.
"She'll be here after she's dressed." Kitty explained.
"Okay." Storm said. "Well, I can wait for her outside as she knows me."
Meanwhile, at Midtown, Peter, Gwen, Mary Jane and Harry were all by Peter's locker, as he sorted his stuff out.
"It sure was nice of you to help those people to FEAST." Gwen said, as Peter had told them all about meeting the Jones'.
"Thanks." Peter said. "I've never seen people that helpless."
"I'm sure Mr. Li and your Aunt will help them out." Mary Jane said.
"I hope so." Peter said. "You know, there's something you should know."
"What's that?" Mary Jane asked.
"Well, Angelica looked almost exactly like you." Peter explained.
Harry and Gwen turned to Mary Jane, who looked thunderstruck.
"She did?" she inquired.
"Yeah. Only difference was the eyes." Peter said. "Hers were blue instead of green."
"You two could be twins." Gwen teased.
"Very funny." Mary Jane scoffed, folding her arms.
"I need to see this for myself." Harry said. "You going there after school, Pete?"
"Yeah." Peter said.
"Well, I'm going with you." Harry said.
"So will I." Mary Jane said. "This has got me curious."
"Same here." Gwen said. "I'll go as well. I have to be there later anyway."
"What for?" Peter asked.
"You'll see when we get there." Gwen assured.
Mary Jane sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Um, how's the play coming along?" Peter asked, changing the subject.
"Oh, it's great." Mary Jane said. "The performance is next Friday."
"Right before we Spring Break?" Harry inquired.
"Yeah." Mary Jane said. "I hope you guys can all make it. I've been working hard for this."
"We'll be there, MJ." Gwen assured.
"You can count on it." Harry said, touching her shoulder.
"So will we." Anya said, approaching them with Miles.
"You two doing okay?" Peter asked.
"Yeah." Miles sighed. "I'm just getting nervous about something."
"What?" Harry inquired. "What could make you nervous?"
"Well, our class has got this field trip in the last week of term." Anya explained. "He's never been on one like this before."
"You haven't?" Peter inquired.
"At my old school, all our trips out were just to places I was used to be." Miles explained. "This one's taking me somewhere I've never been."
"Well, where you guys going?" Gwen asked.
"Empire State University." Miles explained.
"Oh, you'll love it." Gwen said. "We went last year, a bit earlier than you guys though."
"You did?" Anya asked.
"Yeah. It was right before...my Uncle Ben died." Peter explained.
"Oh, I see." Anya said.
"Yeah." Mary Jane said. "I can remember it well. That's when we first met your ex-friend Eddie, isn't it?"
"Yeah." Peter sighed.
"Have you seen him since?" Harry asked curiously.
Peter looked at them all, Gwen already knowing about him meeting Eddie after they'd helped their allies arrest Bolivar Trask.
"Once." he admitted, honestly. "Since my Dad and his were partners, I figured he had a right to know how our parents all died."
"Does seem fair." Anya noted. "Where is now anyway?"
"Ravencroft." Peter explained.
"The same place Mark's currently at?" Mary Jane asked.
"Yeah." Peter sighed.
"How'd he react when you showed him the files?" Gwen asked, even though she already knew.
"Well, he was angry and shocked." Peter said. "Hates Trask a lot for that."
"Does he know about your long-lost sibling?" Miles inquired.
"No." Peter said. "I thought I'd leave that out."
"Good thinking." Mary Jane said. "As he hates you, if he finds out about your sibling, he might take his anger out on her if he doesn't realize you're not to blame for what happened to him."
"I know." Peter sighed, although as Eddie knew he and Gwen were the Spider-Duo, he figured that might never happen.
The bell rang, telling them it was time for class.
"Well, see you guys." Peter said. "I've got Geography first."
"Same here." Mary Jane said. "You and Harry have English, right Gwen?"
"Yep." Gwen said. "See you guys later."
"See you." Harry said.
They both turned and walked off, as the other four walked in the other direction.
"Miles and I have Science first." Anya explained.
"Right." Peter said. "Still, see you later."
"See you." Miles said.
They separated at the end of the hall, with Miles and Anya going one way, Peter and Mary Jane the other.
Once Peter and Mary Jane entered the English class, they saw Flash, Liz, Sally and Gloria were already there with others, as the teacher - Mrs. Winterhalter - sat behind her desk. They both approached seats beside each other, which was near the back, then sat down beside each other.
"Were you serious about this Angelica looking exactly like me?" Mary Jane whispered.
"Yes." Peter answered. "Expect for the eyes like I said. You'll find out when you meet her after school."
Mary Jane nodded before they turned to the teacher, as the class began.
At the Xavier Mansion, the X-Men were all in the meeting room beneath the mansion, all our of uniform.
"You wanted to see us, Professor?" Scott asked.
"Yes, I did." Professor Xavier said. "I've been monitoring a new Mutant power arising up in Chinatown."
"Chinatown?" Bobby questioned.
"Yes." the Professor explained. "And this one is just developing her powers."
"Maybe he or she's Asian like me then, if its in Chinatown?" Jubilee said hopefully.
"Perhaps." the Professor said. "I can't be completely sure."
"What makes you say that, Professor?" Kitty asked.
"Well, not everyone in Chinatown as Asian." the Professor explained. "Especially with that new homeless shelter."
"The Professor's right." Scott agreed. "This Mutant might be homeless."
"Like I was you found me?" Jubilee inquired.
"Perhaps he or she is, Jubilee." the Professor said.
"Meaning this homeless shelter might be the best place to find her." Storm deduced.
"Yes." the Professor said.
"Do sie hafe any idea vho zis nev Mutant is, Professor?" Kurt asked.
"Or anything about he or she, Professor?" Jean asked.
"Well, I don't know who this Mutant is, but its power is fire." the Professor explained.
"Like Johnny?" Bobby inquired.
"Yes." the Professor confirmed. "Like our friend Johnny Storm."
Bobby put his hand to his chin, thinking, for he and Johnny had become good friends since they teamed-up to rescue the Spider Duo from Venom and Sandman before last Christmas.
"I wonder how he's gonna feel, finding out he's not the only fire person out there anymore?" he thought. "I mean besides that Pyro creep?"
"So, Professor, are sie sayink ve shoult infestigate?" Kurt inquired.
"Yes. As this Mutant has the power of fire, he or she might accidently cause a fire." the Professor explained.
"But there's more, isn't there?" Scott inquired.
"Yes. I also picked up Mystquie in that area too." the Professor explained. "Meaning the Brotherhood's trying to find this Mutant as well."
"Well, we gotta find this person first then." Rogue said. "They'll jus' use this person lahke a weapon lahke they did with me!"
"I agree." Scott said. "But we shouldn't all go. I need some of you to help me with another finding in Washington."
"Ah'm goin'. Ah'm not gonna let Mama trick this Mutant lahke she tricked me years ago." Rogue said.
"So vill I." Kurt nodded.
"I'll go." Bobby said. "If this Mutant's power is fire, I might be able to use my ice power to help contain it."
"I'll go." Jean said. "I might come in handy due to my telepathy."
"And I'll go as field leader." Storm said.
"Okay." Scott nodded.
"Wait, I-" Kitty began.
"Hey, what about-" Remy began.
"Not you two." Scott said. "I'm gonna need your skills where I'm going, and not just your Mutant ones."
Remy and Kitty turned to each other confused, both annoyed they couldn't go. Remy didn't want to leave Rogue without him, due to his love for her, while Kitty wanted to see Gwen again, as she'd told her she'd gotten a part-time job in Chinatown. But she also realized there was another reason she wanted to help, but couldn't think of it.
"Okay." Kitty sighed.
"Fine." Remy scoffed. "But dis better be a good reason."
"Oh, it is." Scott assured. "We'll leave with the others as soon as Storm's team leaves in the second Blackbird."
"Understood." Storm said.
"Wait, what are we needed for?" Jubilee asked, indicating herself, Beast and Wolverine, who'd both been silent over the meeting.
"If things go South, we'll have to create a diversion to make sure they both get out of the building." Scott explained.
"Building?" Kitty questioned. "Is this a thieving mission?"
"Not quite." Scott assured. "I'll brief you all when we're airborne."
"My team will get suited up now." Storm said, getting up.
She, Kurt, Bobby, Jean and Rogue all left the room, followed by the rest. Scott and Remy both caught up to their lovers, then Remy pulled Rogue aside into a shower room, while Jean stopped and turned to Scott.
"What is it?" Jean asked.
"I... I just want you to be careful." Scott said. "As we're-"
"Engaged now, I know." Jean said. "I can take care of myself, Scott. Besides, I won't be alone."
"I know, Jean." Scott sighed. "It's just with me taking the others away, we won't be able to help if you need it. Especially since Warren's away with his Dad right now."
"Scott, we'll be okay." Jean promised, touching his shoulder. "Storm's just a capable leader as you are."
"I know. Just...promise me you'll be careful?" Scott asked.
"I will." Jean promised quietly.
They both leaned in and kissed each other, before pulling back to hug each other.
In the shower room, Rogue and Remy both stared at each other outside a stall.
"Whut's wrong, Remy?" Rogue asked.
"I wish I was with you or you were with moi." Remy said.
"Whut f'? Scared ah'm gonna get hurt out there without ya?" Rogue asked.
"Oui." Remy nodded.
"Ya know ah can take o' mahself, Cajun. Ah'm th' strongest 'ere aftah all." Rogue recalled.
"I know, Anna." Remy said. "I'd just feel better dat way."
"Ah'll be 'kay, Remy." Rogue assured.
"Just be careful?" Remy asked. "We both know what your Mom's like."
"Oh, don' ah know her?" Rogue nodded. "She's th' one who made me put Carol in th' hospital aftah all."
Remy touched her chin, making her look up at smile.
"Ah promise ah'll be 'kay, Remy. Besides, when we're both back, we can have some fun togethah in our room." Rogue assured.
"Our room? I like da sound of dat." Remy flirted. "Okay. But how 'bout a kiss before you leave?"
"'Kay, sugah." Rogue teased, before she pulled him in for a kiss.
He wrapped his arms around her, deepening it, before they pulled apart, smiling at each other, looking forward to when they got back from their respective missions.
Later, in Chinatown, Peter, Gwen, Harry and Mary Jane were all outside FEAST, approaching the door.
"Well, here we are." Peter said.
"You guys weren't kidding when you said this place was big." Mary Jane noted.
"Told you." Gwen smirked. "Come on?"
She opened the door, then they all walked inside, Mary Jane and Harry seeing how crowded the place was.
"Whoa. It's fuller than I thought." Harry said.
"So, where's this Angelica?" Mary Jane asked, eager to meet the girl who looked like her.
Peter looked around the room, before he saw Angelica over by a chair all by herself on his left, her back facing him.
"Over there." he said, pointing at her.
He led his three friends over to the girl, who turned to them all.
"Peter, what are you doing here?" she asked happily.
"I wanted to see how you're doing." Peter explained. "And I brought some of my friends over."
Angelica looked as Harry, Gwen and Mary Jane all approached her, but then gasped at the sight of Mary Jane.
"No way..." she muttered.
Mary Jane stopped and stared at her, then sat down beside her, making her turn to her.
"You do look almost alike." Harry chuckled.
"You two defiantly look like twins." Gwen joked.
Mary Jane and Angelica looked at each other, shocked by the resemblance they had, as Bart came towards them.
"Huh?" he muttered.
Everyone turned to him, as he stared at the two red-heads.
"Angelica, who's that?" he asked, pointing at Mary Jane.
"Um, Dad, these are some of Peter's friends." Angelica explained. "This one here just looks like me, expect for the eyes."
Bart looked at both girls, seeing the resemblance they had.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"Mary Jane Watson, Mr. Jones." Mary Jane explained. "And trust me, I'm just as shocked as you are."
Bart turned to the others.
"I'm Gwen Stacy." Gwen explained.
"Harry Osborn." Harry said.
"Osborn?" Bart questioned. "Not related to Norman Osborn?"
"He's my father." Harry answered. "Why?"
"Just curious, since I've heard of him." Bart answered.
"Oh." Harry said.
"Angelica, could you come and help me?" Bart asked.
"Sure, Dad." Angelica said. "Nice meeting you all."
The Jones' both walked away from the others, leaving the four friends.
"I am still shocked by the resemblance." Gwen said.
"Me too." Mary Jane said. "You weren't kidding about that, tiger."
"Well, she's actually younger than you." Peter explained. "She's around Miles' and Anya's age."
"Oh, so if she goes to Midtown High, she'll be in their year?" Mary Jane asked.
"Most likely, if she does." Peter said.
Harry took his phone out of his pocket as it beeped, showing a text from his Dad.
'Harry, I need you back home as soon as possible. I'm having a meeting the board and everyone has to bring their wives and children to the event. It begins at 6pm, so get here quickly. Dad'." it read.
"I gotta go." Harry said. "Dad wants me at a meeting with him."
"Do you have too?" Mary Jane asked.
"I'm sorry, guys." Harry said. "All the wives of children have to be there for this one."
"Well, at least you're not the only one who has to cancel their plans tonight." Peter joked.
"He's got a point, Harry." Gwen agreed.
Harry smiled at his friends.
"I'll see you all tomorrow." he said.
He kissed Mary Jane's cheek, before he turned and walked towards the door. Once he left the shelter, Mary Jane decided to walk off and look around the place, while Peter and Gwen walked off towards a corner.
"So, why'd you need to be here, Gwen?" Peter asked.
"Well, remember how you're saving up a collage fund?" Gwen asked.
"Yes." Peter said.
"Well, I've started too as well." Gwen explained. "I've started working here as a volunteer like your Aunt."
"Really?" Peter asked.
"Yeah." Gwen said. "Twice a week after school, every Monday and Thursday till 7pm."
"Oh, I see." Peter said. "So, does that mean...?"
"Yeah, you'll be on your own those nights from now on." Gwen explained sadly. "But I can keep an eye on your Aunt and people here and look after Chinatown, which means this is one area you won't have to look after unless I call you."
"You're right." Peter said, seeing her point. "With this place full of people, it might not hurt to have someone look after the shelter."
"Well, I better get to work." Gwen said, before kissing his cheek. "See you around."
"See you." Peter said, as she walked off.
Meanwhile, Mystique was in her blue form inside her building from last night, inside the same room but now she wasn't alone. With her were five men, all wearing different outfits and looked different from a normal Human.
One wore a light blue outfit with bits of white/sliver on, and had snow-white hair, who was called Pietro Maximoff, AKA Quicksliver. One was a large fat man with Mohawk blonde hair, wearing a black vest and shorts, with yellow gloves, boots and a belt, as well as as green vest with torn sleves, called Fred Dukes, AKA the Blob. The third was smaller and resembled a toad, who wore a black leather jacket and pants, and was called Todd Tolansky, AKA Toad. The fourth was a blonde man wearing a red and yellow outfit resembling fire, with a flamethrower tank strapped to his back, and was called St. John Allerdyce, AKA Pyro. The final man was wearing a grey outfit, and had brown hair, who was called Dominikos Petrakis, AKA Avalanche.
"So, when do we move, Boss?" Pyro asked, who had an Australian accent.
"We move out in one hour." Mystique explained. "But, no using powers until ordered. I don't want a unwanted scene if we can help it."
"What do you mean?" Avalanche asked, who had a Greek accent.
"She might get scared and run off, you pea brain!" Mystique snapped. "If we lose her, we might not find her again!"
"So, we just find the girl and take her away calmly, then tell her who we are and what she is?" Quicksliver asked, annoyed.
"Even your father would be cautious here, Pietro!" Mystique snapped. "Once Angelica sees what she can do, then we can rampage during our escape."
"Sounds good to me." Avalanche said, cracking his knuckles.
"Same here." Blob nodded.
Pyro and Toad both nodded.
"Right, be prepared to move when I give the order." Mystique said.
The five men all nodded and left the room one by one, Blob being last due to his size getting him stuck in the doorway.
"They need bigger doors for people like me!" he grunted, squeezing through.
Mystique sat down in a chair, when a blind woman named Irene Adler, who was in her late 40s to early 50s came in.
"Raven." she said.
"Irene!" Mystique said happily.
She got up and walked towards her, before they both hugged.
"It's good to see you." Irene said.
"Same here." Mystique said, pulling away. "But I take it there's a reason, as you're not in my Brotherhood?"
"Yes. I've seen a vision, and believe the X-Men might try to get this Mutant before you do." Irene explained, as she could see the future.
"Well, we'll see about that." Mystique said. "But is that all?"
"No. The X-Men will have some help, from two of their friends." Irene explained.
Mystique backed away slightly, thinking, as she, Magneto and her Brotherhood had all seen or heard about Trask's Sentinel Program getting shut down due to the X-Men and their new allies. She knew the Avengers would be too busy to help them find someone, and the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building was nowhere near Chinatown, which left only the Spider-Duo.
"It's the Spider-Duo, isn't it?" she asked.
"Yes." Irene confirmed.
"Do you know how many X-Men are coming?" Mystique asked.
"Five, including Kurt and Anna Marie." Irene explained.
"My children." Mystique said quietly. "Xavier must've known we were investigating Ms. Jones if they're coming?"
"I believe so." Irene explained. "I can't be sure when they'll be here though."
"I'll have to keep my eyes open then." Mystique realized. "Since those web-heads keep their identities secret, we have no idea who they are."
"I know. I just thought I'd tell you that getting Angelica Jones might not be easy as you think." Irene explained.
"I apricate the warning." Mystique assured. "I'll try and make sure we get to her first instead of them, as long as Rogue keeps away. Do you know the other X-Men coming over?"
"Jean Grey, Iceman and Storm." Irene explained.
"Right. I'm glad that Cajun thief isn't coming. I don't know what Rogue sees in him." Mystique said disgusted.
"I don't either, but he makes her happy from what I've seen." Irene explained, before touching Mystique's shoulder. "Promise me you'll be careful if things go bad."
"I promise, my love." Mystique said, wrapping her arms around her.
They both leaned in and kissed, as they were not friends, but lovers for years, wrapping their arms around each other tight.
Later, back at FEAST, Gwen was with Aunt May, handing out food to some of the people.
"Here you go." Gwen said, handing a man a bowl of soup.
"Thank you." he said, walking off.
Gwen smiled as he did, happy with what she was doing.
"Guess Aunt May thought the same when she started." she thought.
Nearby, Angelica got up and approached Peter, who turned to her while sitting in a chair.
"Your friends seem nice." she said.
"Thanks." Peter said. "You still shocked over-"
"Me and Mary Jane looking like twins?" Angelica finished. "Sort of. At least I know you weren't kidding about the resemblance."
Peter smiled at her.
"I saw Gwen kissing you earlier. Are you and she...?" Angelica began.
"Yeah, she's my girlfriend." Peter explained.
"Oh..." Angelica said. "Well, I think you look good together."
"Thanks." Peter said, getting up.
Angelica began to get dizzy, making Peter get up and catch her, as Mary Jane came over to them both.
"You okay, Angelica?" she asked.
"Yeah, I think so." Angelica said.
Peter felt her forehead, seeing it was hot.
"Are you sure. You're burning up." he said.
"I am?" Angelica asked. "I don't feel bad."
"Maybe a drink of water might help." Mary Jane suggested.
"Yeah, perhaps." Angelica agreed.
She moved away from Peter and walked away, as the two friends turned to each other.
"You think she's okay?" Mary Jane asked.
"I'm...not sure." Peter said. "I think I'll keep an eye on her."
"Good idea." Mary Jane agreed. "I'll tell Gwen."
They both walked off, Peter after Angelica, Mary Jane towards Gwen.
Outside the shelter, was Mystique and her fellow Mutants, all on the rooftop of the building opposite.
"Why's the girl in there?" Pyro inquired.
"She's homeless apparently, along with her father." Mystique explained.
"We better be careful going on." Quicksliver decided. "We don't wanna cause a scene."
"I agree." Mystique said. "I'll deal with getting her. You lot just wait outside around the back. I'll meet you there."
She smiled and changed her appearance, so she was the blonde haired woman from the night before.
"You boys know what to do, but be cautious." she said. "I've heard the Spider-Duo might show up with some of the X-Men."
"We understand." Avalanche said.
"I mean it, no fighting until we get Ms. Jones!" Mystique scowled.
She walked to the edge of the rooftop, then began to climb down the fire escape, as the five male Mutants all turned to each other.
"Okay, you heard her - let's go, and be careful." Quicksliver said.
The others nodded, then he dashed away - as his power was superspeed - leaving the others in the dust.
"Does he have to keep doing that?" Toad complained, hopping along, as his power made him like a toad.
"Oh, shut up?" Pyro said. "You know what he's like, especially since he wants to please his father like his sisters do."
"Let's just get there and meet him." Blob said, punching his fists. "We can deal with him later."
The others nodded before they all began to move along the rooftop to meet up with Quicksliver at the back of the shelter.
Back in the shelter, Angelica was approaching a water tank cooler to get some water, as Peter slowly followed to keep an eye on her on. As she got close to it, she picked up a cup and began to pour cold water from the cooler into it, as Peter stopped and looked at her.
As they did, Mystique in her disguise entered the shelter and looked around, before she spotted Angelica.
"Perfect." she smirked.
As she began to approach Angelica, Mary Jane got in front of her.
"Are you lost or something, Ms?" she asked.
"Uh, no." Mystique said. "I'm just looking for someone. I've she's recently come here."
"Oh." Mary Jane said. "Well, I'm sure you'll find her. Good hunting."
She patted Mystique's arm and walked off, who turned back to Angelica.
"Annoying girl." she thought, annoyed.
Angelica lifted her cup of water up and drank some, but the water was warm instead of cold.
"Huh?" she muttered.
She looked at her cup and saw the water was bubbling slightly, confusing her.
"I thought I put cold water in?" she muttered.
"Are you okay?" Mystique asked.
Angelica looked up at her, as she approached him, while Peter turned to her.
"Who's that?" he thought.
"Yeah." Angelica said. "I'm just, confused as to why my water's warm instead of cold."
"I can help you explain that." Mystique said.
"How?" Angelica asked, confused.
"Come with me, out to the back and I will explain." Mystique promised.
Angelica looked unsure, as she'd been told not to trust strangers, but then again, Peter had brought her and her Dad to this place to help get them back on their feet.
"Okay." she sighed.
Mystique smiled and led her towards the back door, as Peter watched.
"I don't like the looks of that woman." he thought.
Mystique opened the door and led Angelica outside the shelter.
Peter turned to Gwen, who turned to him, then he motioned for her to come over with his head. Gwen nodded and came over to Peter, who approached the door.
"What is it?" she asked quietly.
"I saw Angelica leave with this strange woman who seems to know her." Peter explained, opening the door. "I don't think she's friendly."
"Let's check it out." Gwen said, not liking the sound of it.
They both walked out of the back of the shelter, then hid behind a dumpster bin, seeing Angelica and Mystique talking to each other in an alley, neither of them having spotted the duo.
"So, what is it you want with me?" Angelica asked.
"To tell you what you really are?" Mystique explained.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Angelica asked.
Mystique smirked and changed back into her normal blue appearance.
"What the...?" Gwen gasped, covering her mouth.
Peter's eyes went wide with shock.
"Who... What are you?" Angelica gasped, backing away.
"I am Mystique, leading of the Brotherhood of Mutants." Mystique explained. "You will be a great addition to our cause, Ms. Jones."
Peter and Gwen turned to each other.
"She's a Mutant?" Gwen whispered.
"I wonder if the X-Men know about this?" Peter whispered.
"I hope so." Gwen nodded.
"Mutant? What are you saying?" Angelica asked.
"You're a Mutant, like me and my fellows." Mystique explained.
Angelica backed away slightly, as the other members of the Brotherhood all came up behind Mystique.
"So, you in, babe?" Pyro asked, flirtingly.
Angelica stared at them worriedly.
"No." she said. "I don't know what you're talking about!"
"Oh, I do." Mystique explained. "You have power of fire, that's why your drink wasn't cold back in there."
Quicksliver approached her.
"We have a place for you just where you belong." he said, before grabbing her arm. "Now come on?"
"Let go of me?!" Angelica demanded, pulling her arm free. "AH!"
She touched her head and fell to his knees, turning herself in a person of fire, like Johnny Storm, burning off her clothes as she did, which covered her entire body, with her hair flaming out.
"What in the world?" she exclaimed, as she got lifted off the ground slightly.
She looked at herself, the fire on her body covering up her private areas, as the Brotherhood all stared at her.
"Oh, my gosh!" Gwen gasped, covering her mouth.
Angelica looked down at the Brotherhood, fear in her eyes.
"What's happened to me?!" she cried.
"Your Mutant power has finally awoken." Mystique explained. "With it, you can help us with our cause. All you have to do is join us?"
"No! Forget it! I won't help you do anything!" Angelica cried. "Just leave me alone!"
She shot up towards the sky and flew off away from the area, just like Johnny Storm did when he flew.
"She's getting away!" Avalanche exclaimed.
"Nice going, Pietro!" Mystique scowled. "You just had to try and grab her!"
"Hey, it wasn't just me!" Quicksliver complained. "Pyro flirted with her!"
"Yeah, but you're the one who grabbed her!" Pyro argued. "That makes it your fault, Daddy's boy!"
Quicksliver glared at him, before Blob got between them both.
"This isn't the time for arguments!" he said.
"Blob's right. Still, she can't get far." Mystique said. "But we better get to her quickly, before we lose her for good. She'll become of us whether she wants too or not. Now, fan out and search for her!"
"Yes, Boss." Pyro and Avalanche said.
"Right away." Toad said, as Blob nodded.
"I'll find her first with my power." Quicksliver assured.
He dashed off as the others all ran out of the alley and split up.
"If you want a job done right, you gotta do it yourself!" Mystique spat.
She changed her apperance into the blonde-haired woman, then ran out of the alley to find Angelica.
As soon as the alley was empty, Peter and Gwen got up from behind the dumpster and turned to each other.
"We have to find her before those Mutants do." Peter explained. "I don't think they're like the X-Men at all."
"I know." Gwen agreed. "The way they sounded, they're more like terrorists. I can't join you until after my shift though."
"I'll be fine on my own until then." Peter assured. "Call me when you're finished, and I'll let you know where I am."
"Okay. Good luck, and be careful." Gwen asked worriedly.
"I will." Peter promised.
They kissed like sending a lover off to war, then they pulled apart, before Peter turned and ran off. He soon jumped up onto a rooftop nearby, then changed into Spider-Man, before he ran along the rooftop and jumped off it.
"Hang on, Angelica." he thought. "I'm coming!"
He began to swing off through the city, hoping to find Angelica before those Mutants did, as by the way they acted, he knew they weren't like the X-Men.
To be continued...
A/N: Toad's real name is the one he has in X-Men Evolution. I also gave Destiny her look on that show, since its her own known appearance outside the comics.
Mystique's blonde disguise is based on the actresses who played her in the live-action films.
