Guest 2: No, I'm not doing a DC crossover in my series, so sorry.
ShadowSpider1610: By 'Did that just happen', can you tell me what you mean, 'cause I don't understand.
In Times Square, Spider-Man looked at Alistair, who moved to punch Hammerhead, before he shot a web at him, which hit his forearm.
"Huh?" Hammerhead muttered.
"As much as I hate you, Hammerhead, right now, Smythe's the bigger problem!" Spider-Man grunted, pulling on his web.
Alistair turned slightly and grabbed the web, before he pulled on it, pulling Spider-Man towards him.
"Ah!" he yelped.
Alistair grabbed him by the neck once close, then he slammed him against the ground.
"OH!" he moaned.
Alistair moved to punch him, when Hammerhead came up behind him and rammed with his head, knocking him slightly. Alistair turned around to him and glared at him, as he began to back away.
"As much as I hate to say it, but the web-head's right." Hammerhead admitted. "Until the boss gets you fixed and sorted out, you need to be put down!"
Alistair marched over and tried to punch him, but missed as he ducked, before Hammerhead rammed his chest again, but didn't dent him. Alistair chuckled as he grabbed him by the shoulders and held it up.
"Time for revenge!" he declared.
He spun around and threw Hammerhead away, who hit the side of a van hard, wedging himself into it.
"OH!" he moaned.
He lifted his head up, looking slightly dizzy, as Alistair glared at him, just as Spider-Man got up and shot webs from his hands, webbing his legs together by the ankles.
"What?" he gasped.
He turned around to Spider-Man, who pulled on his webs, making him fall onto his chest.
"OH!" he moaned.
He turned around and glared at Spider-Man, before he fired his shoulder blade lasers, hitting Spider-Man's chest.
"AH!" he moaned, as he got knocked away.
He hit the ground on his back, as Hammerhead got up and ran off towards his van.
"The Boss better know what's going on?" he thought angrily.
Alistair grabbed the web around his ankles and ripped it off, before he got up and approached Spider-Man, who was out cold.
"Time to end this. You shouldn't have come, Spider-Man." Alistair said coldly.
He raised his fist up, as everyone inside the Junior's Restaurant gasped, Mary Jane covering her mouth with her hands.
"Oh, no!" she gasped.
Alistair moved to punch Spider-Man, just as Ghost-Spider and Spider-Girl both dived down and kicked him in the chest, knocking him back.
"OH!" he moaned, clutching his chest.
He glared at the girls, as they both turned around to Spider-Man, while everyone inside the Junior's Restaurant sighed with relief.
"Nice timing." Flash remarked.
"You can say that again." Harry agreed.
Mary Jane touched her heart, glad to see Spider-Man was okay, as Alistair kept staring at the girl Spiders.
"You girls will pay for that!" Alistair snarled.
"Not so fast!" came a voice.
Alistair turned around as Shadow-Spider popped up out of nowhere - as he'd landed invisible as the girls had arrived - who then shocked him with his Venom Blast.
"AHHH!" he moaned.
and the other Web-Warriors all landed in front of him, before they turned to him, as Alistair hit the ground.
"Oh!" he moaned.
Spider-Man looked up and shook his head, before he saw his team all standing around him.
"Need some help, Spidey?" Ghost-Spider asked, holding her hand out.
"Yeah." he said, taking it. "Nice timing."
Ghost-Spider helped him up, before they all turned to Alistair, who got up and turned around towards Hammerhead, who was now near his van.
"That's Smythe?" Ghost-Spider questioned. "He's worse than I thought."
"Tell me about it." Spider-Man said.
"So, what do we do?" Spider-Girl asked.
"Restrain Smythe first." Spider-Man said. "He's a bigger threat right now. We'll deal with Hammerhead and his thugs later."
"Right." Ghost-Spider said.
"Got it." Shadow-Spider said.
"Understood." Spider-Girl said.
Alistair ran towards Hammerhead, just as the Web-Warriors all shot webs at him from different angles, hitting his back in different places, which they all began pulling on.
"AHH!" he roared.
Hammerhead turned to them all as he picked up a phone from the van, which he put to his ear.
"Boss, tell me you know about this?" he demanded.
(Kingpin's Skyscraper)
Kingpin and Landon both stood behind the panel in the lab, seeing Hammerhead on it.
"We are." Kingpin assured. "Landon's already sent the retrieval unit. It should be there in a minute or two."
"Well, it better hurry!" Hammerhead roared. "I'm actually the web-heads are here for once!"
(Times Square)
Hammerhead put his phone away, before he turned to Alistair, as the Web-Warriors kept pulling on their webs, but he was too strong for them.
"AH! He's too strong!" Spider-Girl grunted. "I can't hold him!"
"Neither...can I!" Ghost-Spider groaned.
"Ah! Shadow, try and get in front of him!" Spider-Man grunted.
"Right!" Shadow-Spider said, dropping his web.
He turned invisible, then jumped away, just as Alistair turned around, snapping the webs on his back.
"Okay, not good." Ghost-Spider gulped.
Alistair fired his shoulder bladed lasers at the three visible Web-Warriors, hitting Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider, while Spider-Girl managed to jump to her left out of the way.
"AHH!" Ghost-Spider moaned.
"OH! Not again!" Spider-Man moaned.
They both went flying away and hit the ground hard, as Spider-Girl landed on a wall near the Junior's Restaurant, as Alistair turned to her.
"Okay, that was close." she muttered, panting. "I hope Miles can shock him again."
She looked around and saw Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider were out cold, before she turned to Alistair, who turned to him, locking onto her.
"Locked on." he said.
He aimed and prepared to fire his shoulder bladed lasers, just as Shadow-Spider popped up behind him.
"Oh, no you don't." he said, powering up his Venom Blast.
Alistair turned slightly, just as he shocked him with it.
"AHHH!" Alistair cried.
He fell down onto his chest, fired slightly, as Shadow-Spider lowered his hand.
"Shocking turn of events." he joked.
Spider-Girl smiled, before she jumped down and turned to the people inside the restaurant.
"You all need to get outta here!" she said, pointing to her left. "It's not safe!"
"You don't have to tell us twice." Harry said. "But what about the goons who came with that hardhead?"
Shadow-Spider landed next to Spider-Girl.
"We'll deal with them, but right now, this place isn't safe." he explained.
"Okay." Harry said. "Come on, guys."
"You heard him, let's go." Flash said.
Everyone in Junior's Restaurant all stormed out of the place and began to run off, just as Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider landed near them both.
"You two okay?" Spider-Girl asked.
"We're fine." Ghost-Spider replied. "Smythe's new form defiantly packs a punch through."
"I know. I should've told you all that." Spider-Man said. "Sorry, guys."
As most of the civilians ran off and away from the restaurant, Mary Jane stopped and hid herself behind a car, staring at the Web-Warriors, glad to see Spider-Man okay.
"Oh!" Alistair moaned.
The Web-Warriors all turned around to him, as he pulled himself up, then he moved towards the car Mary Jane was at.
"You will pay for that!" he roared.
The four Web-Warriors prepared themselves, just as Hammerhead came over to him.
"Hey, did ya forget about me, Smythe?" he snarled, punching his fist.
Alistair turned to him, followed by the Web-Warriors.
"The Boss has got a little message for ya, back at the base where you belong." Hammerhead sneered, pointing up.
Everyone looked up, and saw a green ship appearing overhead, which shot down claw cables towards Alistair. The Web-Warriors watched as two of the cables grabbed Alistair, before a third grabbed Mary Jane too, due to her hiding spot right near him.
"NOO!" Ghost-Spider cried.
"Mary Jane!" Spider-Man gasped.
Everyone watched both Alistair and Mary Jane getting lifted up towards the retrieval unit, before they went inside it, which the hatch closing.
"Okay, not good." Shadow-Spider gulped, not liking the looks of it.
(Kingpin's Skyscraper)
Kingpin and Landon both stood behind the panel in the lab, seeing the inside of the retrieval unit.
"Retrieval unit, you have an unwanted guest." Kingpin explained. "Make sure she does not see where she is going."
(Times Square)
In the retrieval unit, gas came out from vents in the room Alistair and Mary Jane were in, making her cough.
"What...is...that?!" she gasped.
She began to get dizzy, before she passed out onto her chest out cold, with Alistair following on his back.
The retrieval unit landed on the ground, before Hammerhead got into it.
"He's getting away!" Ghost-Spider exclaimed.
"We better stop him!" Spider-Girl said.
"I think it's too late, girls." Spider-Man said, pointing at it.
The retrieval unit took off and began to fly away, as the Web-Warriors turned to each other.
"Okay, fair enough." Ghost-Spider sighed, just as Harry came running over.
"Hey, you seen my girlfriend around?" he asked frantically.
"That thing just grabbed her and that robot, then it took off with Mr. Hardhead." Spider-Girl explained.
"Don't worry, we'll get her back." Spider-Man promised, touching his best friend's shoulder.
"Thanks." Harry said hopefully.
He turned and ran off to check on the others, before the Web-Warriors turned to each other.
"Okay, so what do we do?" Ghost-Spider asked. "I mean, we've gotta rescue MJ and round up the remaining goons."
"You girls stay here and help the Police round up Hammerhead's goons when they arrive; since they're still around here." Spider-Man instructed. "Shadow, you're with me; we're gonna chase down Hammerhead and Smythe and get MJ."
"Understood." Ghost-Spider said. "Good luck, boys."
"Yeah, and be careful?" Spider-Girl cautioned.
"You too." Spider-Man said.
"Yeah." Shadow-Spider nodded.
Both boys jumped up and began to web-swing away after the retrieval unit, as the girls turned around to look at the mess left over.
"Let's see if any of those goons are left first." Ghost-Spider said. "They can't have gone far."
"Okay." Spider-Girl understood.
They both jumped up and began to web-swing off to search for Hammerhead's thugs, who hadn't been seen since Alistair had arrived.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man and Shadow-Spider kept swinging after the retrieval unit, which turned right through the city.
"Where'd you think it's heading?" Shadow-Spider asked.
"Probably Kingpin's base." Spider-Man deduced. "Daredevil and I went there while you and the girls arrested his son."
"Well, what do we do?" Shadow-Spider asked, as they turned left. "It's getting away!"
"We need to get onto that thing." Spider-Man said. "There's a chance the hanger door will close before we can get inside if we just follow it."
Shadow-Spider sighed and nodded, as they both kept on web-swinging. After about five minutes, they both got close enough and managed to get a web stuck to the bottom of the retrieval unit. They both climbed up their respective web lines, before they got onto it, then climbed onto the top on all fours.
"Right, all we have to do is keep hold of this thing until it gets to Kingpin's base." Spider-Man said.
"Right." Shadow-Spider understood.
They both cliqued to the retrieval unit as it kept flying off towards the Kingpin's skyscraper.
A little later, in the Kingpin's Skyscraper, Kingpin and Landon both stood in the room Alistair had made his Spider-Slayers, when the hanger door lowered itself. The retrieval unit came into the base, before it landed on the ground, with both Spiders hiding at the back. They both peeked out as the unit's door opened up, then four men walked inside and picked up Alistair and Mary Jane, before they came out of it in pairs, just as Landon and Kingpin came over.
"Whoa, what happened to him?" Shadow-Spider muttered.
"Herbert Landon...?" Spider-Man muttered. "I'll tell you and Spider-Girl later. Let's have a look around."
Shadow-Spider nodded before they both turned and hid behind a crate, just as Hammerhead came out of the retrieval unit.
"Take Smythe to the lab!" Landon ordered. "Lock her up!"
The four men nodded and began to carry Alistair and Mary Jane away between them. Hammerhead approached Kingpin, just as the two Spiders climbed up towards the ceiling, then looked down at them all.
"I'm sorry about the inconvenience, Hammerhead." Kingpin said.
"Just what the hell's going on here, Boss?" Hammerhead demanded. "I thought Smythe was supposed to help us, and yet he attacked me for no reason! Most of my men back there cowered in fear, and we're even glad when the Web-Warriors showed up!"
"I'm afraid Smythe somehow managed to reprogram himself." Landon explained, getting their attention.
"What?!" Hammerhead exclaimed.
"Trust me, even I never saw this coming." Landon assured. "When I turned him into that robot, I was sure he'd have no emotions left."
Both Spiders turned to each other.
"You were right; Kingpin did do this against Smythe's will." Shadow-Spider whispered.
"But still, something doesn't add up." Spider-Man whispered. "Let's keep listening."
They both turned back to the three villains.
"Well, why would Smythe go after me then?" Hammerhead demanded. "You still haven't explained that?!"
"Because we believe he may hold you responsible for his father's disappearance-" Kingpin began.
"Me?!" Hammerhead exclaimed, before pointing at Kingpin. "It was your idea to use his father's Spider-Slayer in the first place! If the kid's able to regain his memoires like this, I'm surprised he's not attacking you?!"
Both Spiders turned to each other briefly.
"You told me about what happened to his father, but not who caused it?" Shadow-Spider whispered.
"Well, in fairness, Ghost and I still didn't know about Kingpin at the time." Spider-Man whispered fairly. "We only just found out a few days ago, remember?"
"Oh, yeah. Sorry." Shadow-Spider whispered.
"Yes, well, I wasn't there at the time." Kingpin said. "You were."
Hammerhead glared at him, not happy with this, before he turned to Landon.
"You better make sure you fix up this mess." he said.
"I will." Landon assured. "I intend to erase Smythe's memoires of his father. By the time I'm done, he'll just be mindless, and this time, I'll make sure of it."
"Good." Kingpin said. "It's a good thing Alistair doesn't know his father is actually still alive."
"What?" Landon questioned. "I thought..."
Both Spiders turned to each other in shock, as Kingpin and Hammerhead grinned.
"Yes. You see, somehow, he..." Kingpin began.
(Flashback)
About a year ago, during the fight between Spencer Smythe's Black Widow Spider-Slayer against Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider, Spencer himself stood in the lab as fires spread all over.
"...managed to survive the explosion..."
Spencer turned around as smoke came up all around him.
"...of the warehouse."
Outside, Hammerhead and Alistair both stared at the warehouse, when the explosion went off around it, creating the large smokescreen.
"I found him amidst the wreckage..."
A little later, Spencer walked amongst the ruins, clutching his left leg as he did, as he'd busted his ankle.
"...bruised slightly, and with a sprained ankle, but alive."
Spencer turned right as he heard a noise, and saw Kingpin standing near a door, before he fell to his knees.
"I knew he wouldn't be willing to work for me after that..."
Kingpin approached Spencer, who looked up at him.
"...but I wasn't going to waste losing such..."
Spencer touched Kingpin's suit,
"...a genius mind that I could use."
Later, Kingpin and Hammerhead both stood inside a secret room in the Kingpin's skyscraper, with Spencer lying inside a cryogenic tube.
"I put him into cryogenic suspension..."
Blue steam came into the tube, putting Spencer into a deep sleep, as Kingpin and Hammerhead both smiled.
"...so that when I..."
Later, near the remains of the warehouse, Alistair and Kingpin stared at each other.
"...told Alistair that Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider were responsible for his father's death..."
Kingpin got behind Alistair, then began to push his chair off, as they walked away.
"...I gained a younger genius."
Later, Kingpin stood on a balcony in the lab room, watching Alistair in his hoverchair, making the second Black Widow Spider Slayer.
"With Smythe's desire for revenge at my disposal, he's brilliance with technology made him a valuable person in my criminal empire..."
(Flashback ends)
Kingpin, Hammerhead and Landon all walked down a hallway towards a room, as the door opened.
"...until now." Kingpin finished.
They all approached a large computer screen, as the two Spiders crawled through the doorway quickly before it closed. Shadow-Spider turned himself invisible as he climbed up the ceiling, while Spider-Man web-zipped up, both not being seen by anyone, then Shadow-Spider turned visible again.
"So, where is Spencer Smythe now then?" Landon asked.
Kingpin began to type on the computer, bringing up Spencer Smythe's cryogenic tube on it, while the two Spiders looked down at them from the ceiling.
"In the same cryogenic unit he has been in since." Kingpin explained, turning to Landon. "It is in this building, five floors down."
Both Spiders turned to each other.
"So, Kingpin's just been using Smythe like a pawn in a chess game." Spider-Man whispered.
"Man. Kingpin's a lot colder than I thought." Shadow-Spider muttered.
"Hmm? You're a lot more cold and ruthless than I thought, Kingpin." Landon admitted.
"Well, I like to be a bit cautious with my work." Kingpin said. "Now, get to work on fixing up Smythe, and this time, make sure he has no emotions."
"Oh, trust me, I will." Landon assured.
He turned and walked away towards a small lab room, where Alistair was lying on a table.
"He better fix his mistake." Hammerhead said. "Smythe nearly made all the boys cower in fear."
"I assure you, he will." Kingpin hoped. "By the way, did you, um, have a hard time against him?"
"Oh, I did." Hammerhead said, banging the side of his head. "My steel plated head didn't even dent him."
"Ah. That is good news." Kingpin said. "If your hard-head couldn't dent Alistair, they Landon must've turned him into the strongest metal known to man."
Hammerhead frowned, as he didn't like the complement.
On the ceiling, both Spiders turned to each other.
"So, what do we do now?" Shadow-Spider asked.
"I don't know." Spider-Man said. "We need to find MJ though. Come on?"
Shadow-Spider nodded, before they both began crawling along the ceiling. As they got halfway across however, a guard looked up at spotted them.
"Hey!" he yelled, taking out his sidearm.
He fired at them both, alerting their Spider-Senses.
"Oh, great!" Spider-Man gasped. "Jump!"
He and Shadow-Spider both jumped down from the ceiling as Kingpin and Hammerhead turned to them, along with all the guards in the room.
"Spider-Man?!" Kingpin exclaimed.
"Hiya, Kingpin." Spider-Man said, waving.
"And Hammerhead, we meet again." Shadow-Spider joked.
"You! You're the one that turns invisible, aren't ya?" Hammerhead growled, punching his fist.
"Guilty as charged, hard-head." Shadow-Spider smirked.
"When I found out about who you really are, Kingpin, I was sick. But now, finding out you've just been using Alistair like that and turning him into that robot, you've made me see you worse than before." Spider-Man said, folding his arms.
Several of the guards around the room all took out their sidearms and aimed them at the duo, as Kingpin smirked.
"Ha. I'm actually glad you found me, Spider-Man." he admitted. "I've been wanting to have a go at you ever since you first showed up in the city."
"Oh, really? I'm flatted, baldy." Spider-Man teased.
"Yes, but now it's gotten more personal, for putting my son in jail!" Kingpin growled. "You and your little friends never should've messed with me, wall-crawler."
"Well, maybe you should've picked a different career choice when you were growing up, Fisk." Spider-Man retorted.
"Ah! Get them!" Kingpin growled.
Hammerhead charged at the duo and lowered his head to ram them both, but missed as they jumped up.
"Ha, Toro!" Shadow-Spider yelled.
Hammerhead skidded to a halt and turned to them both, as they landed in a three-point stance, before he growled. He began charging back at them both, before they both jumped and side flipped away, Spider-Man to his left, Shadow-Spider to his right, making him hit Kingpin's chest with his head.
"OH!" Kingpin moaned, as he went flying across the room.
He hit his back against the wall near the computer as Hammerhead stopped and looked up in shock.
"Oops." he gulped.
"You fool!" Kingpin growled, getting up. "All of you, waste 'em!"
Hammerhead turned around as the guards all began firing at the two Spiders, ten altogether in the room.
Spider-Man dived and split kicked two, knocking them away and out cold, then he turned and webbed a third to a wall, trapping him.
"Ah! What is this stuff!" he grunted.
A fourth came up behind Spider-Man, but his Spider-Sense tingled, then he grabbed his arm as he tried to punch him, before he threw the thug over him.
"AH!" he yelled, hitting the floor on his back.
Shadow-Spider ducked as one tried to punch him, before he punched his belly, making him fall to his knees. He then did a forward handspring over the thug's back, then kicked another with both feet, sending him flying away, until he hit a wall.
"OH!" the thug moaned.
Shadow-Spider turned as another two aimed their pistols at him, before he shot webs from his hands and jammed them.
"Uh!" they groaned.
Shadow-Spider back flipped away, then shot a web at them both, hitting their chests, before he dived down and split kicked them both, knocking them down onto their backs.
"OH!" they moaned.
The last two thugs turned to the Spiders, then they both fired their pistols at one each, but missed as they jumped up towards the ceiling. When the thugs looked up however, they only saw Spider-Man.
"Where's the other one?" one gasped.
"He's... He's the one that can turn invisible!" the other gasped. "He could be anywhere?"
"That's right." came Shadow-Spider's voice.
Both thugs turned around as he turned visible, then he banged their heads together.
"OH!" they moaned, before they fell to the floor.
Spider-Man jumped down and landed near his fellow Spider.
"Nice work, Shadow." he remarked.
"Thanks." Shadow-Spider said, as they high-fived each other.
Hammerhead glared at them both, just as Kingpin approached the computer, then pressed a button on it.
"Landon..." he said.
(The lab)
Alistair lay down on a lab table as Landon stood over him, holding a pen shaped device near Alistair's head.
"...reactivate Smythe and give him the new hoverchair you created!" Kingpin ordered.
"But I haven't finished reprogramming him!" Landon argued. "He might rebel like before."
"Do it!" Kingpin ordered. "Two of the wall-crawlers are here, taking out my men! Activate Smythe now!"
Landon sighed and put the pen device down, before he pressed a button on the panel at the back of the table. The restraints holding Alistair retracted, who then sat up, then he got off the table and walked off.
(Main room)
Spider-Man and Shadow-Spider both turned as a door opened, and at least four more thugs stormed into the room, before they both shot webs at them all, pinning them against a wall.
"AH!" they moaned.
"Gross!" one yelled.
(The lab)
Landon pulled a lever down, causing a hoverchair similar to Alistair's old one to lower itself down until it was right next to him. The differences were, it included extendable claws on the front, spider like legs at the back, and two types of small rocket launchers on either side of the panel. Alistair got into it, then began to fly it off towards the main room.
(Main room)
The two Spiders were both clinging to a wall together, when a door near them opened up, and Alistair came in with his hoverchair, before they spotted him.
"Oh, man, he's back!" Shadow-Spider gasped.
Alistair fired a rocket from his hoverchair at them both, but missed as they jumped off the wall and landed on the floor. They both turned as Alistair fired another rocket at them, but missed as they jumped up, making it hit the floor, putting a hole in it. They both landed on a wall, then crawled quickly along it, then hit from Alistair.
"Looks like Smythe got a new deal on his trade in." Spider-Man said. "That new hoverchair of his looks more menacing than his old one."
"Any ideas?" Shadow-Spider asked.
"I'm working on it." Spider-Man said. "For now, we better keep him busy before he wrecks this place, otherwise we'll never get MJ."
"Right." Shadow-Spider understood, holding up his right hand in an O shape.
Their Spider-Senses tingled, making them turn as Alistair fired his shoulder lasers at them both, hitting the wall as they both jumped away.
"Whoa! That was close." Shadow-Spider panicked, as they dived down.
They both landed by a crate and hid behind it, before they turned to each other.
"You weren't kidding when you said he was tough." Shadow-Spider whispered.
"I know. I think I liked the old Alistair better." Spider-Man said. "At least his machines weren't as deadly as he is now."
They both turned and saw Alistair flying his hoverchair around, looking for them both.
"We need to figure out a way to stop him before he pounds us." Shadow-Spider said.
"Yeah... Wait, I think I know how to stop him." Spider-Man said. "Kingpin's been using him because he believes his father's dead..."
"But he isn't." Shadow-Spider finished. "So, if we show him his father's alive..."
"Of course." Spider-Man said. "Just get closer to Kingpin and follow my lead."
He jumped up towards Alistair, as Shadow-Spider turned invisible and moved towards the panel Kingpin stood at. Spider-Man landed on a wall, then kicked away from it, before he landed on Alistair's hoverchair, right in front of him.
"Die!" Alistair roared, wrapping his arms around Spider-Man.
"Alistair, wait, don't?" Spider-Man begged. "We can take you to your father!"
"My...father?" Alistair said, his robotic eyes retracting.
"Alistair, he's lying!" Kingpin growled.
"We'll show him who's lying, fasto!" Shadow-Spider retorted, pointing at him.
He dived over to the computer and pressed a button on it, bringing up the image of Spencer Smythe's cryogenic tube. Alistair turned to it, before his eyes widened in shock.
"My father...lives?" he gasped, letting go of Spider-Man.
"Kingpin's been holding your father in cryogenic suspension, five floors down, inside this building the whole time." Spider-Man explained, turning to him. "He's just been using you to get at us all."
Alistair turned and glared at Kingpin, as Spider-Man jumped off the hoverchair.
"Uh, Alistair, what I did was for the best." Kingpin swore, lying.
Alistair shot his hoverchair down towards him, before he jumped off it as it smashed against the floor, damaging it beyond repair. He began to march towards Kingpin in anger, as Hammerhead and Landon both came up behind him.
"Don't worry, Kingpin. Alistair's programming prevents him from harming you..." Landon assured.
Alistair growled and moved to punch Kingpin, but he couldn't, making sweat pour from his head.
"...regardless of what you did to his father." Landon finished.
Alistair lowered his hand, making Kingpin smile, before Alistair turned around and glared at Landon, then picked him up by the suit.
"AH!" he yelped.
"Kingpin perhaps, but what about you and hardhead there?" Shadow-Spider smirked.
"But he-" Landon began, before Alistair threw him away. "AHHH!"
He went flying across the room and hit the floor on his chest.
Hammerhead gasped and turned back to Alistair, who then grabbed him by the shoulder, then punched his chest, sending him flying away.
"AHH!" Hammerhead cried.
He hit the floor and skidded along it on his belly, before he crashed into a wall, his hard head denting it.
"Take me on if you dare, seeing as how you're able to reprogram yourself?" Kingpin snarled.
Alistair turned to him, then he punched Kingpin's chest, then spun around and kicked him, knocking him away towards a panel.
"OH!" he moaned.
"This is for my father!" Alistair declared, charging at him.
Kingpin looked up, before Alistair grabbed him by the arms and held him up, like he was as light as a feather.
"And this is for what you did to me, and made me do over the past year!" Alistair declared.
He threw Kingpin across the room, who hit a wall so hard he went through it.
"OH!" Kingpin moaned.
Spider-Man ran over to Shadow-Spider, who jumped off the computer, before they both ran off slightly, then stopped and turned around.
"Looks like Smythe's gonna have his hands full." Shadow-Spider said, as Alistair began marching around angrily. "Still, better on them than yes."
"Agreed. Come on, let's find MJ while he deals with Fisk." Spider-Man said.
Shadow-Spider nodded before they both turned and ran off, just as Alistair began firing his shoulder lasers around in anger, hitting and destroying several panels.
In another part of the building, Mary Jane was in a cell, pacing around, as she was trying to find a way out.
"Man. I should've stayed with Harry and the others." she thought miserably, before she stopped and looked up. "There's no way out of this place, not even a vent shaft."
She sighed and leaned against a wall.
"I hope Spider-Man and his friends saw me getting captured." she thought. "It's the only way I think I'll get outta here."
She turned as she heard a noise, making her look at the door, before she ran towards it. She peeked through the door bars, seeing Shadow-Spider kicking a thug away, while Spider-Man webbed another two to a wall.
"AH!" they groaned.
Mary Jane moved away slightly as she saw the two Spiders approaching the door, before they turned to each other.
"Do we break it down or hack it?" Shadow-Spider said.
"Use your Venom Blast." Spider-Man said.
Shadow-Spider nodded, before he powered it up and put his hand on the door panel, shorting it out, opening the door.
"You alright, Ms?" Spider-Man asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Mary Jane said.
She ran over and hugged Spider-Man tight, shocking both him and Shadow-Spider, before she pulled apart.
"I knew you'd come to save me." she said.
"Hey, what am I; chopped liver or something?" Shadow-Spider asked annoyed, folding his arms.
Mary Jane looked at him and blushed.
"Uh, sorry, Shadow-Spider." she said.
Both Spiders looked at each other, before they turned back to her.
"Wait, where's your friends?" Mary Jane asked.
"Ghost and Spider-Girl are dealing with the mess in Times Square." Spider-Man explained. "Most of the thugs from the shootout are still there."
"Oh, right." Mary Jane said. "Makes sense with Ghost-Spider I guess, since-"
"She's my second-in-command, yeah." Spider-Man finished. "Come on. Let's get outta here."
They all ran off down the hallway together, before they all entered the room Alistair had trashed, but saw no sign of Kingpin, Hammerhead or Landon.
"Whoa. Smythe sure did a number around here." Shadow-Spider noted.
"He sure did." Spider-Man said.
"Indeed I have." came Alistair's voice.
The two Spiders and Mary Jane all turned to him, making her touch Spider-Man's left arm in shock.
"It's okay, things have changed." Spider-Man assured. "He's broken free of his boss' control."
"I have." Alistair assured. "I won't be anyone's puppet anymore after tonight."
"Remember, the person you're looking for is five floors down." Spider-Man explained.
"I know, and thanks." Alistair said.
The place began to shake, making Mary Jane hug Spider-Man tightly from the side, making Shadow-Spider stare at them both.
"Uh, don't you think we should get outta here?" he said.
"You're right, Shadow." Spider-Man said. "Come on?"
He grabbed Mary Jane, then jumped out of the nearby window and began to web-swing away, with Shadow-Spider right behind them both. As they did so, Mary Jane looked at Spider-Man's masked face, her heart beating harder than ever.
"Being in his arms like this is...amazing." she thought dreamily.
Alistair meanwhile, ran towards the elevator shaft, then jumped down it, going down five floors like Spider-Man said. Once on the floor he wanted to be on, he put his hands on either side of the shaft, then kicked the door open, then ran down a hallway. He ran towards another door, then kicked it open, and saw his father's cryogenic tube, which he ran towards.
"Father!" he gasped, stopping near it.
He looked at his father's state in horror, as it was worse than seeing it on the monitor screen.
"It's Alistair, father. Your son." he said. "I promise, I'll get you out of here."
He touched the tube with his right hand, vowing to get him out of there as soon as he got the tube out of the skyscraper.
A little later, Spider-Man and Shadow-Spider both stood in a street with Mary Jane, who looked at them both.
"Are you sure you're okay, Ms. Watson?" Spider-Man asked.
"I'm fine." Mary Jane assured. "And again, thanks for saving me, both of you."
"Ah, it was nothing." Shadow-Spider assured. "Just doing our job."
Mary Jane smiled and hugged Spider-Man, catching him off guard, then she pulled away and hugged Shadow-Spider, but not for as long.
"Uh, how are you gonna get back?" Spider-Man asked.
"I'll just get a taxi." Mary Jane replied.
"Okay. You better call your boyfriend, as he saw what happened and got pretty worried." Spider-Man advised.
"I will." Mary Jane assured, nodding.
"Right. Come on, Shadow." Spider-Man said.
They both jumped up and began to crawl up the wall of the building, before they got to the rooftop. Once on it, they looked looked down at Mary Jane, who was looking up at them, waving.
"Well, that takes care of that." Shadow-Spider said. "We better check in with the girls?"
Spider-Man nodded, before he touched the side of his mask.
"Ghost, Spider-Girl, how's things in Times Square?" he asked.
"We're all clear. Got most of the thugs, but a few managed to escape. As for civilian causalities, no one killed but a few injured." Ghost-Spider reported. "What happened on your end?"
"We got MJ to safety." Spider-Man assured.
"Well, that's good news." Ghost-Spider said. "What about Smythe and Kingpin?"
"We'll tell you girls about that tomorrow due to how late it's getting." Spider-Man promised. "But you're not gonna believe it."
"Okay. Take care, my love." Ghost-Spider wished.
"You too." Spider-Man said.
He lowered his hand and turned to Shadow-Spider.
"They're done. A few thugs escaped, but they got most and made sure no one else was killed." Spider-Man explained.
"Well, that's good." Shadow-Spider said.
"We'll tell them about Smythe in the morning." Spider-Man explained. "After the day we've all had, I think we need to rest."
"Understood. Oh, by the way, I noticed MJ getting pretty-" Shadow-Spider began.
"She's in love with my alter ego, okay." Spider-Man said, annoyed. "Trust me, I'm not happy with it, and neither's Gwen."
"Oh. Sorry." Shadow-Spider said, rubbing the back of his head. "You seem to attract quite a lot of ladies?"
"I maybe do, but Gwen's the only one for me." Spider-Man assured. "I'd never cheat on her or betray her. Besides, she's the only one who loves me as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man. The others who've given me those looks just like me in costume, or least used to."
"Oh. That is weird." Shadow-Spider said. "By used too, I take it-"
"Yeah. Shadowcat used to have one, but unlike the others, she's given up." Spider-Man assured. "She's with Bobby now."
"Well, in that case, the others need to learn that too." Shadow-Spider said. "Somehow that is."
"I know. You better get going." Spider-Man said. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Right. See ya." Shadow-Spider said.
He jumped up and began to web-swing away, as Spider-Man looked around the city, before he looked down and saw Mary Jane still staring at him. He looked at her carefully, before she blew him a kiss, catching him off guard, making him back away across the rooftop.
"Man. She really has fallen for my other half." he thought, shocked. "I don't know how Harry will react if he finds out or if they break up. I really have to find a way to explain to her that I'm taken."
He peeked over the rooftop, seeing Mary Jane getting into a taxi, before it drove away.
"But after what's happened today, I think it can wait 'til another time." he thought.
He jumped off the rooftop and began to web-swing away.
"I better tell the X-Men about Landon." he thought. "Beast's not gonna believe it, but they have to know."
He turned left as he kept on swinging, deciding to tell the X-Men when he got home, due to Landon's connection with Beast.
The next day, all four Web-Warriors were in the Spider-Cave, out of costume, standing by the computer.
"So, Kingpin kept Smythe's father alive this whole time to use him?" Gwen asked, shocked.
"That's what we heard." Peter assured. "Alistair probably escaped with his father's cryogenic tube before he left the skyscraper."
"And now Kingpin's got this Herbert Landon as Alistair's replacement?" Anya inquired.
"Yeah." Peter said.
"He's really ugly." Miles said, shuddering. "The left side of his body is monstrous."
"I'm not surprised, after what he did when we last met him." Gwen said.
Miles and Anya turned to her, before Peter turned to them.
"It's true." he said. "He was a monster before he became disfigured, due to his own undoing."
"Well, what happened?" Anya asked. "I mean, he's not in the files I looked up?"
"Yeah. How'd he end up like that?" Miles asked, folding his arms.
"It was not long after we first met the X-Men..." Gwen began.
She and Peter spent the next ten minutes telling them how they'd met Herbert Landon, and about how he tried to kill Beast without mercy. When they finished explaining, Miles held his mouth open wide, while Anya put her hands over hers, both shocked.
"He... He did that to himself?" Anya asked, lowering her hands.
"He fell into a vat of the chemicals he created, then came out as a monster." Gwen explained.
"It was only by working with the X-Men were we able to stop him, but he ended up like that when we tried to turn him back to normal." Peter finished.
Miles and Anya both turned to each other.
"You really saw him, Miles?" Anya asked.
"Yeah. He looked a lot like Two-Face from the Batman, only with green skin on the left side of his body, with claws for hands and feet." Miles recalled.
"Well, have you been trying to cure him since then?" Anya asked, turning to the others.
"Beast said he'd try, since Landon used to be a friend of his." Gwen recalled. "Guess he's still working on it."
"Speaking of which..." Peter began, when the computer beeped.
They all turned to it, before Bobby Drake came up on it.
"Hey, Pete, I... Oh, you've got..." he said, noticing Anya.
"It's okay, Bobby." Peter assured. "She's with us."
"I recognize her, but isn't she just a..." Bobby began. "Wait, you're not that new Spider-Girl?"
"Guilty as charged." Anya joked.
"But I thought you'd have lost your powers like everyone else infected?" Bobby inquired.
"Well, it didn't work on me." Anya explained. "I still have my powers, since your friend had to use the prototype cure on me."
"Oh...right." Bobby said.
"Anyway, Bobby, what is it?" Peter asked.
"Well... I told Hank what you told me last night, and well..." Bobby began, before Hank McCoy showed up on his right.
"I am not at all happy with how my old friend has now become part of a criminal empire." he sighed.
Miles and Anya gasped slightly at his appearance, before they clamed down, which was justified since they never saw him during Spider-Island.
"I can see why they call you Beast." Miles noted.
"Yeah, you literary look like one." Anya said.
"Indeed I do." Beast assured. "I am glad to see your team has expanded since last we met, Peter."
"Yeah, it has." Peter assured. "How have you taken the news?"
"I've...taken it as good as I can, my friend." Beast sighed. "I'm starting to think I never knew Landon at all."
"We know what you mean." Gwen assured. "It's like if Peter started acting jerkish and such, I bet I'd never know him anymore."
"Gwen, I'd never do that." Peter assured. "After Aunt May, you know me better than anyone else."
Gwen smiled sweetly and kissed his cheek, before they turned back to the screen.
"Are you still gonna try and cure him, Dr. McCoy?" Peter asked.
"Yes, but...due to all the mess that the Jackal has created - all those people mutated against their will - I've had to turn my attention to them first, alongside my other scientific heroes." Beast sighed.
"It's a pity that jerk got away so he couldn't answer for his crimes." Miles said.
"On that, we can agree." Bobby said. "The entire team up here's disgusted by what that guy's done."
"And all because he wanted Gwen all for himself." Anya said.
Gwen shuddered and touched her arms, as that news still disgusted her.
"Gwen, I didn't-" Anya began.
"It's okay, Anya." Gwen assured. "I know what you mean."
Peter touched her shoulder, making her look up at him, before they turned to the screen.
"Well anyway, thanks for the news, my friends." Beast said. "And, it was nice to properly meet you two."
Miles and Anya smiled.
"Miles, isn't it?" Bobby inquired, pointing at him.
"Yeah." Miles said.
"I'm Anya." Anya said. "You can tell the others about me."
"Understood." Beast said.
"Yeah. Any friend of Peter's is a friend of mine." Bobby said. "See you."
The screen went blank, making Miles and Anya turn to Peter and Gwen.
"What did he mean by that?" Miles asked curiously.
"Out of all the X-Men, Bobby's the one I'm closet too." Peter explained.
"And in my case, it's Kitty." Gwen explained.
"The girl who helped Peter, the Hulk and Dr. Connors create the antidote?" Anya inquired.
"Yep." Gwen nodded. "We have close friends on all the hero teams out there, and if it weren't for our powers, we probably wouldn't have met them."
Miles and Anya both smiled.
"Um, you know, getting back to the main subject, d'you think Smythe will still testify against Kingpin?" Anya asked.
"I doubt it." Peter sighed. "Smythe pretty much trashed the place on his way to get his father."
"Yeah, he did." Miles recalled. "Guess Landon didn't count on him regaining his memoires."
"Is that why he rebelled against Kingpin?" Gwen inquired.
"Must've been." Peter said. "He even managed to attack Kingpin even through Landon said he couldn't."
"Man, Kingpin made a big mistake turning Smythe into that robot then." Anya said.
The others nodded, seeing her point, while they also had a feeling they hadn't seen the last of Alistair Smythe.
At the Kingpin's skyscraper, Kingpin stood with Hammerhead and Landon in the lab, as several men cleaned up the mess.
"Smythe sure did a number around here last night." Hammerhead noted.
"Indeed." Kingpin said.
He turned to Landon and grabbed him by the shirt, holding him up.
"Your incompetence caused this, Landon!" he snarled. "Thanks to you, Smythe took his father, and now we've lost him!"
"We'd have still had him if you'd given me more time to reprogram him!" Landon argued. "It's not my fault those two freaks followed the retrieval unit."
"Well, maybe if it had shown up before the other web-heads did, Spider-Man would've been forced to stay and deal with my men!" Hammerhead snarled.
"That's not my fault!" Landon argued. "I had hoped for it to get there quickly!"
Kingpin huffed and put him down, before he turned and walked off.
"I take it the girl Spiders stayed to deal with your men, Hammerhead?" he inquired.
"Yeah. Got most of them, boss." Hammerhead said. "Only two managed to escape and told me everything after Smythe escaped with his father."
"The loss of that many men in one blow is indeed bad." Kingpin admitted, as he stopped. "But, right now, we have bigger concerns."
He turned around to Hammerhead and Landon.
"Landon, because of your incompetence in dealing with Smythe, since he still had his emotions, we've lost a valuable assist." he stated. "He would've been most useful in his robot form, but now that he's gone, we'll never know what he'll do against me."
He turned around and walked off angrily, leaving Landon confused as Hammerhead turned to him.
"Can't say you didn't ask for this." Hammerhead smirked. "Consider yourself lucky you're still new here unlike Smythe."
He turned and walked off as Landon frowned, vowing to make up for this, and to make the Web-Warriors pay.
Meanwhile, down in the sewers, Alistair stood before his father's tube in an old tunnel.
"Soon, father, you will awaken from this slumber." Alistair promised. "Then, for all the crimes committed against us, you and I will have our revenge on the people who did this."
He held up his arms as he turned around, vowing to both free his father, and to get revenge on Kingpin for all he'd made them both do.
A/N: My next chapter is a breather one, then I'll be doing the season final.
