Reason why I say How to Train A Dragon to How to Train Your Dragon is because even though the movie and tv series are great it does not correlate to the book series to which the movie series is based off of. So the slight change in name. You can't change my mind on the matter so don't even try. Hope you enjoy the read.
Dark, wild oceans surrounding a lonesome, huge, chunk of rock island in the middle of nowhere. This is Berk. It's twelve days north of hopeless and a few degrees south of freezing to death. It's located solidly in the meridian of misery. The village, in a word sturdy. It's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new. We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets. The only problem we have are the pests. You see, most places have mice or mosquitos. Berk hasâ
A teenage boy opened the door to check on a sheep he heard be taken a moment ago, but was interrupted by a Monstrous Nightmare blasted fire right at his front door setting his house on fire "Dragons!" The boy screams finishing the narration. His name was Hiccup. Great name I know but vikings believed that a truly frightening name would ward off evil and unfortunitely for him hiccup was also what they would call the runt of the litter. Hiccup reopens what was left of the now sizzling door rushing out of his house before he could be burned alive. Running towards the forge he was met with some vikings who did not like his presents and made their voices heard. Hiccup could hear each comment as he rushed past each of them. Now you might wonder why they would all choose to stay on a dragon infested island. Like I said they are vikings and vikings come with some stubbornness issues.
He was quickly picked up by the shirt yanking him up so he was now at eye level with none other than Stoick the Vast who was clearly very much annoyed that Hiccup was there. "Hiccup? What is he doing out again? What are you doing out again? Get back inside." Not really waiting for anyone to answer him he was too busy going back in the fight with the dragons as he smashed his hammer right into the side of a Monstrous Nightmare. Stoick the Vast. Chief of the Hairy Hooligan Tribe on Berk. They say that when he was a baby he popped a dragon's head clean off of its shoulders. Do I believe it? Yes I do.
As Hiccup finally reached the forge he was met by his cousin Camicazi and one arm, one legged Uncle, Gobber. "Ah! Nice of you to join the party. I thought you'd been carried off." Cami snorted at her dad's comment. "Who me? Nah, come on. I'm way too muscular for their taste, they wouldn't know what to do with all this." Hiccup said, sarcastically striking a pose. Gobber just looked at him unimpressed. "They need toothpicks." Cami said snarkily as she headed out to join the rest of the fire brigade. Gobber could not help but laugh at his daughter's remark. Hiccup just made a mocking laugh as he cleaned up Gobber's workspace that was filled with bend weapons and interchangable limbs. Hiccup looks out the window to see Cami running to grab a bucket of water to put out one of the many fires that had been set by the dragons. He saw Fishlegs, his other cousin Snotlout, the twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut, and Astrid. Hiccup tried to sneak past Gobber to join the other teens but was caught by the older viking. "Ah, come on. Let me out, please, Their job is so much cooler. I just need to make my mark. Just two minutes, I'll kill a dragon. My life will get infenately better." Hiccup pleaded to the only viking who ever seemed to enjoy his presents. "Oh, you've made plenty of marks. All in the wrong places. You can't lift a hammer to fight, you can't swing an axe, you can't even throw one of these." Gobber said, showing him the bola right before another viking ripped it out of his hands and threw it at a dragon trapping it.
"Yes, but this will throw it for me." Hiccup said, showing off his latest invention, which then miss fired and hit a viking in the head with a bola. "Mild calibration issue." Hiccup said as he tried to fix the machine. Gobber just sighed. "See, now this right here is what I'm talking about. Hiccup. If you ever want to get out there to fight dragons wyou need to stop all of this." Gobber said, gesturing to all of Hiccup. ""You just pointed to all of me." Hiccup said a little offended by the statement, but Gobber lit up. "Yes! That's it! Stop being all of you." Hiccup knew that Gobber did not mean anything by it but he still needed to defend himself. "Ohhh. You, sir, are playing a dangerous game. Keeping this much, rawâ. Vikingess contained. There will be consequences." Gobber did not seem amused by the dramatics. "I'll take my chances. Sword. Sharpen. Now." Gobber said, handing him a sword to sharpen. Hiccup just did as he was told for once and thought about the different classes of dragons and which ones would give him the best chance to get a better life. He just needed to kill one to prove himself, but he had to make it worth it. Deadly Nadders were ok, they would get him noticed, but a Gronkle would definitely get him a date. The Hiddious Zippleback two heads twice the staatous and then there were the Monstrous Nightmares, but only the bravest of vikings went after those. They have this nasty habit of setting themselves on fire. Finally the prize among all dragons, it never steals food, never seen, and it never misses. The Night Fury. No one has ever caught one before and that is why Hiccup wanted to be the first one to.
When Hiccup finished the sword he was given just in time to see Gobber change his hammer hand for an axe. He then looks at Hiccup with a tense glare. "Man the fort Hiccup, they need me out there. Stay. Put. There. You know what I mean." The moment Gobber was gone Hiccup grinned to himself and knew that he had a short window of opportunity to get his chance to prove himself. He quickly grabbed his machine and rushed to the edge of the cliff waiting to see if he could get anything to shoot at. "Come on. Give me something to shoot at." He muttered to himself. Just then the Night Fury blasted a tower and Hiccup fired his machine and hit the cursed dragon. He could not believe it. He actually shot down teh Night Fury! Oh, I hit it! Yes! I hit it! Did anybody see that? Except for you." Hiccups said with his joy quickly dying down when he saw a Monstrous Nightmare coming up from the edge of the cliff destroying his machine and started to chase him.
When HIccup let out a scream he had grabbed the attention of Stoick the Vast who came rushing towards the dragon saving Hiccup. Unfortunately not before Hiccup and the Dragon made a mess of things and with Stoick off to fit this dragon he could not help hold down the trapped dragons and they overpowered the other vikings escaping and flying away. Stoick finally smashed his hammer into the side of the face of the dragon once they were all out of juice and needed to refuel but not before Stoickcould drive it away. As soon as the dragon was gone Stoick turned back to Hiccup as he tried to get away.
There is also one more thing you might need to know.
Just as Hiccup was about to run and hide, Stoick grabbed him and pulled Hiccup towards him. "Sorry, dad. Hiccup said, sheepishly. Stoick was about to yell and reprimand Hiccup infront of the entire village, but his son had interrupted him first. "Okay, but I hit a night Fury. It's not like the last few times, Dad." hiccup tried to plead as his father dragged him off in embarrassment infront of everyone. "I mean I really actually hit it. You guys were busy and I had a very clear shot. It went down, just off of Raven Point. We can get a search party out there before it." Hiccup tried to say not seeing his father's anger growing. "Stop. Just Stop." Stoick said finally releasing his son. The village was quiet not wanting to interrupt the Cheif. "Every time you step outside, disaster follows. Can you not see that I have bigger problems? Winter's almost here and I have an entire village to feed. This isn't a joke, Hiccup! Why can't you just follow the simplest of orders?" Hiccup tried to smile, hoping to not disappoint his father further. "I'm a viking dad, I just can't help but try to kill a dragon." Stoick sighs heavily. "You are many things, Hiccup. But a dragon killer is not one of them. Get back to the house Hiccup. Gobber. Make sure he gets there. I have his mess to clean up."
Hiccup was led by Gobber past the other teens in a walk of shame. "Quite the performance." Tuffnut teased. "I've never seen anyone mess up that badly. That helped." Snotlout added. Cami not liking what they were saying about her cousin she grabbed both of their helmets and banged them together knocking them out. Astrid just gave him one of her famous glares, not adding into the teasing and the bullying, but she wasn't stopping it either. It did not take long before Hiccup and Gobber made it to the house. "I really did hit one." Hiccup said, trying to convince Gobber. If there was anyone on the island that would listen to him it would be him. "Sure, Hiccup." Gobber said, disappointed. Not at Hiccup. At Stoick. Ever since Valka was taken Stoick has distanced himself from Hiccup. Gobber basically raised the boy himself in his forge. "He never listens." Gobber hears the boy say. "Well, it runs in the family." Gobber said mostly to himself. Hiccup turned to face Gobber now. "And when he does, it's always with this disappointed scowl. Like someone skipped all the meat in his sandwich. Excuse me barmiad. I'm afraid you brought me the wrong offspring. I ordered an extra large boy with beefy arms, extra guts, and glory on the side. This here! This is a talking fishbone." It broke Gobber's heart to see the young lad look so discouraged. He needed to talk to Stoick. There must be something he could do to help. "You're thinking about this all wrong. It's not so much what you look like. It's what's inside that he can't stand."
"Thank you, for summing that up." Hiccup said, reaching for the door just wanting this conversation to end. "Look, the point is, stop trying so hard to be something you're not." Gobber said sympathetically. Honestly he never thought that there was anything wrong with Hiccup to begin with. He was different, sure, but if just given a chance that boy could change berk for the better. He just knew it. "I just want to be one of you guys." Hiccup said before closing the front door. Gobber waited a moment just looking at the spot HIccup had just been little did he know that Hiccup was sneaking out the back and heading to Raven Point to look for that Night Fury.
After the mess for the morning raid had been cleaned up Stoick decided to hold a town meeting. "Either we finish them or they'll finish us! It's the only way we'll be rid of them. If we find the nest and destroy it, the dragons will leave. They'll find another home. Once more search before the ice sets in." Now this whole thing was foolish. If they destroyed Dragon Island then Berk would be the next island they'd all go to, but no one thought about that part of the plan. They were more concerned over the fact that those ships that travel to where Stiock was suggesting never ever make it back, but Stoick reminded them that they are vikings. It's an occupational hazard. "Now who's with me?" He asked forcefully hoping the energy would be contagious. It was not. Alright let's try this one more time. "Those who stay will look after Hiccup." Once Stoick finished that sentence the mood changed drastically. Everyone was now volunteering to join him on this deadly mission that they may not return from. Stoick was pleased by this.
As viking piled out of the meeting hall Gobber kept pace with Stoick. "I'' pack my undies." He told his long time friend who did not even question the statement. "No, I need you to stay and train the new recruits." Stoick told him. Gobber saw this as his in. "Oh, perfect adn while I'm busy, Hiccup can cover the stall. Molten steel, razor sharp blades, lots of time to himself. What could go wrong?" Gobber has full faith in his young apprentice, but Stoick did not. "What am I going to do with him, Gobber?" Gobber took his chance. "He'll be killed before youlet the first dragon out of its cage. Listen. You know what he's like. From the time he could crawl he's been different. He doesn't listen. He has the attention span of a sparrow. I take him fishing and he goes hunting forâ for trolls." This grabbed Gobber's attention. "Trolls exist! They steal your socks, but only the left ones. What's with that?" Stoick was not paying any mind to Gobber and his rant about trolls. "When I was a boyâ" Stoick began one of his stories that he has been known to overtell. "Oh, here we go." Gobber said annoyed. Not wanting to hear this story again. "My father told me to bang my head against a rock and I did it. I thought he was crazy, but I didn't question him and you know what happened?" Stoick asked. Gobber dryly answered back. "You got a headache." Stoick ignored his friend's comment and continued on. "That rock split in two. It taught me what a viking could do, Gobber. He could crush mountains, level forests, tame seas. Even as a boy, I knew what I was, what I had to become. Hiccup is not that boy." Gobber sighed heavily. You can't stop him, Stoick. You can only prepare him. Look, I know it seems hopeless, but the truth is you won't always be around to protect him. He's going to get out there again. He's probably out there now."
Hiccup was marking off yet another spot on his map of the forest getting more and more frustrated. He kept adding marks on his hand drawn map in his personal journal of places the night fury was not. "Uggh, the gods hate me. Some people lose their knife or their mug. No, not me. I managed to lose an entire dragon." Hiccup then whacks a low-hanging branch in anger snapping back at him, hitting him in the face. He looks up to see a snapped tree trunk. His eyes follow it to a long trench of up-turned earth. Hiccup follows it to a downed, black dragon, its body and tail tangled in a bola; the night fury appears dead. Hiccup approaches, beaming, hoping that his luck has finally changed. "Oh wow. I did it. I did it. This fixes everything. I have brought down this mighty beast!" But before Hiccup could get too far in his celebration the night fury moves. Hiccup quickly removes his dagger from his vest to slay the fallin beast to cut out its heart and make his father proud, but it is nothing like Hiccup had expected. He expected the dragon to struggle to free itself, to fight back, but all it did was accept its fate. Hiccup just stared at him and saw himself. He did this. He couldn't be like them. He could never be like them. He knew that now. Hiccup turned back to the village. No one believed him anyway so there would be no harm in just coming home empty handed. Hiccup turned back to the beast and he knew what he had to do, but he did not like it.
The offspring of lightning and death itself thought that it was finished but soon felt the ropes being cut by the human who had trapped him in the first place. Why was he doing this? The Night Fury felt the ropes fall off freeing him; he jumped on top of the human who caused this mess. He was mad, he was injured, he was free? The Night Fury looked down at the boy and he was scared. The dragon could tell that this one was different from the rest, maybe if he scared him enough he would leave him alone for good. So with that the dragon scareamed in Hiccup's face and left into the woods. Hiccup on the other hand felt his heart stop inside of his throat and his legs turn to jelly. He passed out for several hours and only woke up when it started to rain. He started to head back to the house and tried to sneak back in since he knew that his dad was probably already home and after what had happened this morning he was not ready for that talk. He was half way up the stairs before his father spoke to him. "Hiccup." Stoick said not turning to face his son. Hiccup knew that he needed to bite it in the butt and have this discution with his dad sooner or later so here it goes. "Dad! I have to talk to you, Dad." He was nervous to disappoint his dad further but he needed to do this.
"I need to speak with you too, son." Stoick said, finally standing up and looking at his son. "I've decided I don't want / I think it's time you learn / to fight dragons. What?" They said over one another. They may not look like they are related but they certainly did act like one another. Stoick had no clue how to act around his son so he tried to be polite. "You go first." Sadly, Hiccup was the same way. "No, no you go first." Stoick took the opportunity. "Alright you get your wish. Dragon Training. You start in the morning." Hiccup felt like his heart stopped for a second time that day. This was all so wrong. His father was never supposed to support him. He never had in the past so why now? He had to fix this. "Oh I should've gone first! Because I was thinking that with Gobber helping with the raids and doing the training I could just stay in the forge and make weapons." Hiccup tried to explain, but his father wasn't hearing him out. "You'll need this." Stoick said passing him the Hoddack Family Axe. Hiccup tried one more time to get through to his father. "I don't want to fight dragons." Hiccup said straight up. This only caused Stoick to luagh like this was the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard. "Come on. Yes, you do."
"Let me rephrase: Dad, I can't kill dragons." Stoick then understood where Hiccup was coming from and figured that it was his chance to try and be a supportive father. "But you will kill dragons." Hiccup was getting frustated. Of all times for his father to try to be a good father he chose now? "No, I'm really very extra sure that I won't." Hiccup tried to explain but his father just would not listen. To him which was actually very in character for his dad. "It's time Hiccup." Stoick trying to end the conversation. "Can you not hear me?" Hiccup said pleading with his father. "This is serious, son! When you carry this axe, you carry all of us with you. Which means you walk like us. You talk like us. You think like us. No more ofâ this." Stoick said straightening up Hiccup before gesturing to all of Hiccup. "You just gestured to all of me." Hiccup said frustrated and defeated. "Deal?" Stoick said with a voice that left no room for discussion. "This conversation is feeling very one-sided." Hiccup said, trying to argue. "Deal?!" Stoick said a little more aggressively, staring down at his son. "Deal." Hiccup said, giving up on fighting back. Stoick grabbed his things and was getting ready to go out and find the dragon's nest. "Good. Train hard. I'll be back. Probably." Hiccup signed knowing that he did not have any choice in the matter at all. "And I'll be here maybe." Hiccup said as he watched his father walk out the door into the storm and to his possible death, but hey they were vikings. It was an occupational hazard.
The next day came sooner than Hiccup would have liked, but he knew that Gobber would rat him out if he skipped out on training so he knew that he had to go sooner or later and before Hiccup would have liked he found himself off to the dragon training area along with everyone else. "Welcome to Dragon Training!" Gobber said proudly to the new group of vikings. Camicazi, Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotloud, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut walked into the dragon training area and looked around, seeing all the scratch and scorch marks all over the walls and floors. "No turning back." Astrid said, earning a tight lipped grimace from Cami who was just annoyed that she was now going to be spending the next several months with the people she hated most and her dad, so it was almost bearable. Honestly she was only really friends with Hiccup; he was the only one who had brains, and was actually nice to be around. She didn't mind Fishlegs but he never stood up for himself and ended up tag teaming with the twins and her cousin Snotloud. And Astrid she just was mean to the point that she never wanted anyone around. Cami will never understand why Hiccup has a crush on her but if his alternate is Ruff then maybe Hiccup should consider not dating.
Cami was then snapped out of her thoughts by the other teens talking. "I hope I get some serious burns!" Tuff said to his sister who just responded with a. "I'm hoping for some mauling, like on my shoulder or lower back." Cami just roled her eyes at the stupid comments coming out of their mouths. Seriously, did they want to die or something? "Yeah, it's only fun if you get a scar out of it." Astrid said grimmly. Cami was about to pull her hair out until she heard the last voice she expected to hear here. "Yeah, no kidding, right? Pain. Love it." For the first time sence she entered that arena Cami smiled at her cousin. No one else shared her opinion. Tuff groaned. "Oh, great. Who let him in?" Hiccup rolled his eyes holding his axe and slowly walked into the arena and saw Cami walking up to him. "What Tuff? Are you afraid he might show you up? Cause we all know that it won't be that hard." Cami said, slinging her arm around her cousin. Before things got too ugly Gobber cut the discussion short. "Let's get started! The recruit who does the best will win the honor of killing his first dragon in front of the entire village." Snotloud raised his hand up with a smirk. "Hiccup already killed a Night Fury, so, does that disqualify him orâ ?" He could not even finish his sentence before he bursted out laughing. Tuff decided to join in on the taunting. "Can I transfer to the class with the cool Vikings?" Cami took this opportunity to grab the horns from both the helmets on the heads of Snotloud and Tuffnut then banged then together knocking them out briefly. During this Gobber had made his way to Hiccup and pulled him in close. "Don't worry. You're small and weak. That'll make you less of a target! They'll see you as sick or insane and go after themore viking-like teens instead." Hiccup was not filled with much hope after hearing that.
"Behind these doors are just a few of the many species you will learn to fight! The Deadly Nadder!" Gobber said as he made his way to the cage. The teens are now lining up to get a good view of the dragon. Fishlegs was getting very excited and started to share his dragon knowledge to whoever would listen. "Speed: eight; Armor: sixteen." Hiccup was starting to get nervous; he knew Gobber's teaching style and so did Cami. The two have several scars from his teaching. "The Hideous Zippleback!" Gobber continued as he walked around the arena gesturing to another cage. "Plus eleven stealth times two." Fishlegs said eagerly. Camicazi was wondering which dragon they would be trying to fight first. "The Monstrous Nightmare!" Gobber spoke naming one dragon after another with Fishlegs listing off more and more facts. "Firepower: fifteen." Everyone was starting to get annoyed at Fishlegs commentary, even Hiccup, but Cami was actually happy about it. For the idiots in the class who know nothing and knowing that her father wasn't going to tell them much, just the needed basics. "The Terrible Terror!"
"Attack: eight; Venom: twelve!" Gobber has finally had enough. He had held out as long as he could. "CAN YOU STOP THAT?! And.. the Gronkle!" Fishlegs turned to Hiccup catching his attention and whispered to him. "Jaw strength: eight." At this moment everyone was now getting nervous as Gobber made his way to the lever to open one of the cages. "Whoa, whoa, wait! Aren't you gonna teach us first?!" Snotloud asked nervously. Camicazi laughed at her cousin. "Are you kidding? Dad always believed in learning on the job. Right Hiccup." Hiccup did not answer her; he was more worried about what Gobber was about to do. Gobber just ended up laughing with this big hearted chuckle. "That's my girl!" With that Gobber pulled down on the lever to open the Gronkle cage door. The boulder class dragon flew out and headed straight towards a pile of rubble. "Today is all about survival. If you get blastedâ you're dead! Quick! That's the first thing you're going to need?" Gobber asked, standing back as he watched most of the teens panic. "A doctor?!" Hiccup answered in his sarcastic fashion. "Plus five speed?!" Fishlegs answered in a wishful manner. "A shield!" Astrid said confidently. Before Hiccup had even said a word Cami had already made her way to the shields remembering everything her father had told her to expect for she even entered the ring. "Shield! Go!" With that all the other teens made their way to the shields. Hiccup was struggling a bit, grabbing himself a shield. Cami just rolled her eyes at her cousin. He works in a black smiths he has carried shields before, but then she remembered that he has never ran with one before. So she makes her way back to the shields and swiftly picks up a second shield and shoves it into Hiccup's hands and grabs the shoulder of his shirt, yanking him out of harm's way. "Your most important piece of equipment is your shield! If you must make a choice between a sword or a shield, take the shield!"
Tuffnut and Ruffnut had made their way to the shields and started to argue about the same shield. "Get your hands off my shield!" Tuff shouted at his sister drawing the attention of the dragon. Ruff was frustrated with her twin; she had gotten to this shield first. "There's like a million shields!" She said equally as loud. Unknown to both of them the Gronkle was heading to them. "Take that one, it has a flower on it. Girls like flowers." Tuff said, sexist. His sister then took the shield out of his hands and hit him over the head with it. "Oops, now this one has blood on it." Ruff said in a mock tone of saddness. The Gronckle flies towards the Twins and blasts their shield with a double fireball, leaving them dazed on the ground. "Tuffnut, Ruffnut, you're out! Those shields are good for another thing: noise! Make lots of it to throw off a dragon's aim! All dragons have a limited number of shots. How many does a Gronckle have?" The teen had been hitting their shield with their weapons trying to keep the dragon off guard trying to think of an answer. "Five?" Snotloud answered only to be corrected by Fishlegs. "No, six!" He said waving his shield in the air as if he were raising his hand in class to be called on, but unfortunately the shield was then shot out of his hands. "Correct, six! That's one for each of you! Also Fishlegs, out. Hiccup, get in there!" Gobber yelled to the boy who was staying close to Cami who was trying to sneak up behind the dragon.
Meanwhile Snotloud was distracting himself by trying to flirt with Astrid. "So, anyway I'm moving into my parents' basement. You should come by sometime to work out. You look like you work out!" Astrid sees the Gronkle coming and leaps out of the way. "Snotlout! You're done!" Gobber said with no loss of sleep over his nephew getting hit. Cami, Hiccup, and Astrid were the only three left in the ring. "So, I guess it's just you and me, huh?" Hiccup said trying to be friendly to Astrid, but she had other plans. "Nope, just you." Astrid said right before tucking and rolling away. Camicazi saw this and blocked Hiccup from getting shot. The force threw her back and caused Hiccup to drop his shield. Hiccup then decided to foolishly run off after it. "One shot left!" Gobber said. With Hiccup not having anything to defend himself the Gronkle headed straight towards him. "Hiccup!" Cami shouted. Before the Gronkle could shoot Hiccup at point blank range Gobber pulled the Gronkle's mouth away from Hiccup right before it made its final blast. "And that's six! Go back to bed, ya overgrown sausage! You'll get another chance, don't you worry." The Gobber said to the dragon as he forced it back into the cage, closing the gate. "Remember: a dragon will always -- always -- go for the kill." Hiccup was breathing heavily, confused. Thinking back to the Night Fury. Cami saw the confusion in her cousin's eyes and knew that something was up.
Hiccup found himself back in the forest near Raven's Point where he had shot down the Night Fury. He held the bola with his hand staring at it. "So, why didn't you?" HIccup asked himself. His attention was then drawn to a slight sound. Looking around the cove to see what else was there. Hiccup stood up ready to make a run for it, but before he could leave he was met with his cousin Cami. "What are you doing here?" He asked her. She walked up to him and smacked him on the arm. "Looking for you. You were off after what my dad said about dragons always going to the kill. Then you run off and I find you here." Cami gestured to their surroundings. "Well, this was stupid." HIccup muttered to himself before seeing something black and shiny on the ground. He bends down to pick it out and sees a trail leading down to the cove's lagoon. Cami is still very confused as to what was going on with Hiccup. "What if that?" She asks, but she soon gets her answer when a black figure swoops past them, but falls back onto the ground, trying to then settle down on the cove. Cami's eyes go wide when she sees that it was a Night Fury. Hiccup actually shot down the Night Fury. She turns to him but she sees that Hiccup had just brought out his journal and was sketching the beast. "Why don't you just... fly away?" Cami was wondering about the same thing. She knew her stuff about dragons but she didn't know everything. As he makes a sketch, he notices the Night Fury is missing one of its tail fins. He erases the fin on his drawing but he slips and drops his pencil, drawing the Night Fury's attention. It stares up at him in recognition. When Cami realizes that the dragon was now staring at the two of them she grabs Hiccup's shirt similar to how she did when they were in the arena and got them out of them. "We can't come back here. Ok. Hiccup. Look, I won't tell anyone about the dragon. I have a feeling I know what you did, but I promise I won't tell, but we can't come back here. It's too dangerous." Hiccup was honestly releaved that Cami knew and wouldn't tell. The two were now on the edge of the village then they heard the thunder roar in the sky. They started to run towards the great hall hoping to get there before the rain started, but luck just wasn't on their side that day.
Hiccup and Cami finally made it to the Meade Hall drenched from the rain. All the other teens were gathered around Gobber eating their dinner talking about what they had done wrong today. "Alright. Where did Astrid go wrong in the ring today?" Gobber asked even though she had done the best. "I mistimed my somersault dive. It was sloppy. It threw off my reverse tumble." Astrid said being very picky with her approach. Ruffnut just rolled her eyes at the other girl's comment. "Yeah, we noticed." She said sarcastically, but Snotloud quickly came to Astrid's defense. "No, no, you were great. That was so "Astrid"." This only earned him a smack to the head from Cami as she came to sit down next to her dad. "She's right, you have to be tough on yourselves. Where did Hiccup go wrong?" Hiccup stayed back not wanting to be part of the conversation. "Uh, he showed up?" Ruff said. "He didn't get eaten." Tuff continued. "He's never where he should be." Astrid answered. "Thank you, Astrid." Hiccup mumbled sarcastically. Cami just gave him a sad smile. "Yes. Now where did Camicazi go wrong?" Grobber asked. Cami just gave her father an unamused glare. Snotloud was glad to take the opportunity to take a shot at both of his cousins. "She was carrying Hiccup." He said bursting into a laugh along with most of the table.
Cami just gripped her cup and Hiccup just held his head down in embarrassment. "Sadly yes. Even though we need to look out for one another. If each and every one of you cannot defend yourself out there you are bound to get someone hurt or killed." Gobbet said. He wasn't mad at Hiccup he was proud the his daughter was looking out for the boy but he also did not want her to get hurt doing so. "You need to live and breathe this stuff. The Dragon Manual. Everything we know about every dragon we know of." Gobber finished before the thunder roared. "No attacks tonight. Study up." Gobber said as he headed for the doors. Tuffnut was spinning his fork around on the table not paying attention until Gobber told them they had homeworm. "Wait, you mean, read?" His sister was equally displeased. "While we're still alive?" Snotloud was also upset by the news. It seemed only Fishlegs was excited about what was in the contents of the book. "Why read words when you can just kill the stuff the words tell you stuff about?" Snotloud stupidly argued. "Oh! I've read it like, seven times. There's this water dragon that sprays boiling water at your face. And--And there's this other one that buries itself for like a week--" Fishlegs explain geeking out over the dragon information. Ruff and Tuff look at him with a glazed look in their eyes. "Yeah, that sounds great. See, there was a chance I was going to read that..." Tuff said before he was cut off by his sister who continued his statement. "...But, now..." Snotloud interrupted the twins with his inpatients. "You guys read, I'll go kill stuff." Snotloud shouted probably going to get himself killed. Fishlegs ignored the rude interruption and continued to go on about dragons as he left with the three teens who were leaving to get away from him in the first place. "Oh, and there's this other one that has these spines that look like trees..." Cami heard the doors open and close and she could not help but laugh to herself. If those three would just listen to any bit of information Fishlegs was spitting out then they wouldn't need to read the book. She then turned back to her other cousin and her smile dropped.
"So I guess we'll share?" Hiccup said looking at his crush hoping to spend some time with her. Cami just rolled her eyes at her cousin. "Read it." Astrid said shoving the book at Hiccup and dashing out the door. "All mine then. Wow, okay. So, I'll see you, uh... tomorrow." He said defeated before turning to Cami. "Sorry but I want to get home before the weather turns for the worst." He waved Cami good bye before she headed out into the rain. Hiccup placed his lantern on the table and sat himself down. With the storm raging outside and the eerie contents of the book made Hiccup a little jumpy when the doors to the hall opened and shut. He looked back down at the book and began to read to himself. "Dragon classifications. Strike Class, Fear Class, Mystery Class. Thunderdrum: This reclusive dragon inhabits sea caves and dark tide pools. When startled, the Thunderdrum produces a concussive sound that can kill a man at close range. Extremely dangerous, kill on sight. Timberjack: This gigantic creature has razor sharp wings that can slice through full grown trees. Extremely dangerous, kill on sight. Scauldron: Sprays scalding water at its victim. Extremely dangerous. Changewing: Even newly hatched dragons can spray acid. Kill on sight. Gronckle, Zippleback, The Skrill, Boneknapper, Whispering Death. Burns its victims, buries its victims, chokes its victims, turns its victims inside-out. Extremely dangerous, extremely dangerous, kill on sight, kill on sight, kill on sight. Night Fury: Speed, unknown. Size, unknown. The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself. Never engage this dragon. Your only chance: Hide and pray it does not find you."
Well the semester is over and I hope to get more chapters out and I am proud to say I passed! Which was the reason for the silence in my writing. So while summer is in session I will get as much writing down as I can. I will write up until September 1 and so I will try to get as much done as I can. I hope to have the movie caught in a few chapters. I hope you enjoyed this chapter and until the next time. Bye-bye for now.
