Chapter 3Incident Exposure

"I'm waiting. What was that? And don't mistake this for me caring but, are you alright?" Bret asked Lacey. She shook her head no. "I thought as much, c'mon. I'm taking you back to the hotel." Bret offered. Lacey stared at him in surprise and nodded as she followed Bret out into the parking lot.

He got out his keys and unlocked the car door and motioned for her to get in. She didn't hesitate to do so.

"So, you're a bit calmer now aren't you?" Bret asked.

"Yeah I am. Thanks again for helping me out of that" Lacey said as she wiped her eyes once again.

"Sure. But why if I may ask was Scott Hall harassing the sister of his best friend?" Bret asked curiously.

"He was drunk… I guess" Lacey said obviously refusing to divulge more information. Bret raised an eyebrow.

"Riiiight. Listen Michaels, speaking up is for your own good" Bret said but she remained silent. "Fine. Have it your way then. Not my problem." He said as he continued driving. Lacey looked outside the window as they remained in silence.

Bret knew there was more than what met the eye. He noticed how Lacey seemed on edge the entire night and from the way Scott pulled her, he could tell that he didn't exactly force her to go with him. Something more sinister was going on but he had no idea what.

But what he did know was that this wasn't the first time this was happening.

"Well, this is it." Bret said once they got back to the hotel reception. "You're okay to head back to your hotel room on your own right?"

"Umm… yeah. I… yeah. Thanks for all the h…help. Sorry for what happened out there in the ring" She said. "Goodnight" She told him as she made her way towards the elevator.

Bret sighed as he joined her.

"What floor is your room on?" He asked. He was already regretting where he saw this conversation heading but he knew he had to just do this. He wouldn't be at peace with himself until he did so.

"Second" She replied.

"Well mine is on the third." He paused as he pressed the number '3' button on the elevator. "Hey, how about you spend the night in my room since all your friends are at the club. Then tomorrow, after Raw, we can move on to the next city where we'll be away from the WCW guys" Bret suggested.

To his relief, Lacey seemed to be in support of that idea and nodded.

"Thanks Bret. And thanks for being so nice to me" She said. He said nothing as the elevator doors opened and they made their way to his hotel room.

On the way, Bret noticed Lacey check her phone and her face grew paler. He found himself being suddenly worried for her and wasted no time in opening his door for her to get in.

"Listen Lacey, I don't like you and I'm very sure you hate me" Bret said.

"I don't hate you. I never have" She said truthfully. She didn't fail to miss the shock which came upon Bret's face but the Canadian shook it off.

"Good to know" Bret said. "But where I was headed was I want you to talk to me about everything that I just witnessed out there. Here" He said as he handed her one of his 'hitman' T-shirts and boxers. "Go take a shower, change into those then come out here and let's have a little chat"

"I…"

"That's not a question. You know you owe me" Bret said. She sighed but nodded.

"Alright then. I'll go take a shower then." She said as she went into the bathroom.

Once the bathroom was locked, Bret set out to work. He grabbed her phone and opened up her text messages and went straight to Scott's.

He knew this was a breach of privacy but currently, he didn't care. Something was up and he had to get to the bottom of it.

I'll be in your hotel room in 30. Let's finish what we started – Scott

Hey, what's your room number beautiful? – Scott

Why aren't you replying? – Scott

You better not be ignoring me, beautiful. I don't like being ignored – Scott

I got your room number and keys. You're not there – Scott

Where are you? – Scott

Fucking answer me! - Scott

You wanna play it like that? Fine. – Scott

You're not with Shawn, Chyna, Alundra or Hunter. Where the fuck are you? - Scott

And he was right. What the fuck was going on? He doubted Shawn was aware of this.

It was the final two messages, the ones which came in as he held the phone in his hands that really caught his attention.

Okay that's how you wanna play it? Fine then. – Scott

Remember the repercussions. Goodnight beautiful – Scott

"What in the actual…?"

"Oh no. What are you doing? Drop my phone!" Lacey yelled as she went over to him but he raised the one over his head and out of his reach. "Bret please, I need my phone now!"

"Lacey what the hell is going on? You're in real danger here! I doubt Scott is your boyfriend or whatever. What is going on?" Bret asked showing genuine concern for her safety which shocked her and shocked him as well.

Lacey sighed and sat down on his bed. Bret sat down on the couch in a position that showed he was ready to listen to what she had to say.

"Thanks for saving my ass out there. Scott, as you can tell, isn't my boyfriend. He… we have a sort of… he's blackmailing me for sex" Lacey blurted out.

This stunned and intrigued Bret. Lacey kept her head down and bit her lip as shame overcame her. She couldn't believe that Bret Hart, a man who she had business talking to twenty four hours ago now knew her biggest secret.

"Wow. Um… that's… I don't know what to say" Bret said rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Have you told anyone?" He asked. He noticed her clear hesitation to provide an answer to him. "I'm not gonna blackmail you either I just wanna know"

"No. You're the first person I'm telling. I planned on telling my brother once but… the words never came out."

"So, how long has this been going on?" Bret asked.

"Well, he had been coming on to me for a long time, even before I joined the company. But it didn't start till one fateful… or should I say, not so fateful day…"

Flashback, September 1996

"And cheers to my sister Lacey on her spectacular debut here tonight. Hopefully, she's gonna extend the Michaels legacy and make everyone very proud" Shawn said proudly as he made a toast with his Kliq friends, Chyna and Rick Rude.

"Amen to that" Hunter said gulping his drink down. "Hey babe, wanna dance?" Hunter asked.

"I'd love to" Chyna said as they got up and went into the dance floor. Lacey stayed a bit feeling a bit idle as everyone else either left to dance or get a drink.

"Why do you look so down beautiful? After all, we are here to celebrate your debut aren't we?" Scott asked as he scooted over to Lacey who instinctively scooted away. "Hey don't be shy, I'm not gonna hurt you. You know I like you"

"Scott see, I don't think any of this is gonna work out. Plus I wanna go back to the hotel soon" She told him. He looked pissed for a second but smirked.

"Fine, but you need to have at least one drink and you're gonna let me give you a ride back" Scott proposed as he slid over a glass to her. "My treat"

Lacey wasn't in the mood for Scott's antics so she agreed and hurriedly gulped the drink down.

"Great. I've downed the drink. Can we go now?" Lacey asked. Scott smirked and nodded as the pair got up. He told Rick Rude that he was taking the young Michaels home and the man just nodded and let them go.

On the ride back, Lacey noticed that she felt a bit light headed and cursed inwardly. Her eyelids felt heavier and she could feel a huge wave of tiredness and sleepiness coming upon her.

The bastard.

"Scott you… what did you…?"

"Shhh. Just go to sleep chica. Go to sleep" Scott whispered as a huge uncontrollable wave of sleep overcame her and she wondered into unconsciousness.

When she woke up the next morning, her head ached badly, her mouth was dry and her throat was scratchy. She tried to move but noticed there was an arm slung around her. The arm belonged to none other than Scott Hall. She began to struggle to get out of his grip and screamed as well.

"If I were you I wouldn't struggle or scream beautiful" Scott said with his eyes still closed. It was then that Lacey looked down and her eyes widened.

"What… what… I'm gonna tell my brother. You're going to jail!"

"Relax, I didn't rape you. I can be low but not that low. Plus I'm not stupid" Scott said. "But as to why you're naked, I had something to do with that" He said with an evil smile. Lacey brought up the covers as Scott sat upright.

"Why?" Lacey asked tearfully.

"Simple" He said as he got out his camera and showed her pictures… of herself… nude. Hey eyes widened in horror as she reached out to grab the camera but Scott got it out of her reach. "Not so fast beautiful. These are mine to keep. They'll help me get what I want. From you"

"What do you want from me?" She asked quietly as she wrapped herself up with the covers.

"Isn't it obvious? You're a smart girl" Scott said with his devious smirk. "Sex baby, sex"

"I… no Scott. I can't do that!" She exclaimed as she dived deeper into the covers. "Please"

"Very well then. I just guess I'll pass these round the locker room. Oh look at this one where your legs are..."

"Stop! Do what you want, I'm not sleeping with you!" She yelled. "And while you're at it, get the hell out of my hotel room!" Lacey yelled once more.

Scott looked visibly shaken. He certainly wasn't expecting that but he realized he should have known better. She was Shawn's sister after all. As stubborn as she could be.

End Of Flashback

"Scott has your nudes. Well that explains… but wait, it doesn't. You didn't agree to have sex with him then. What changed? He didn't share your nudes because I'm pretty sure I would've seen them by now"

"Well…" Lacey trailed off as she bit her lip. Bret focused on her intently while she proceeded with her tale.

Flashback, Survivor Series 1996

"Awwn, too bad you had to lose to Sid" Lacey said to her brother as she comforted him.

"Yeah. I miss the gold around my waist but it's better to lose it to Sid than to Bret, you know?" Shawn said, perking up a bit. "And either way I'm gonna celebrate. You know how many ring rats would wanna spend a night with me to 'make me feel better'?"

"Eww. TMI Shawn. TMI" Lacey said. "Well, I'm off to bed. We're leaving for Orlando after breakfast right?"

"Yeah. I'll call you. Don't worry about that too much alright?" Shawn asked as he placed a kiss on her forehead. "I'll see you tomorrow. Scott and Kevin are in town so I don't wanna keep them waiting." Lacey shuddered once she heard…his…name.

They hadn't been in contact in over two months and she had almost forgotten that he was in possession of her nudes. Well, the good thing was that he hadn't shared them around yet.

The question was why?

"Alright bro. Keep me posted" Lacey said as she escorted her brother over the extremely long distance between her bed and the room door. The hugged and Shawn took his leave.

Once he was gone, she shut the door and locked it behind her then she went off to bed hoping to get a good and long night's rest.

But that wasn't the case.

At 1am, she heard a shuffling sound which woke her up and while her eyes fluttered, she got a look at a tall imposing figure towering over her bed as she slept.

She let out a loud scream but her mouth was quickly clamped shut with the person's hand while they wrapped the other hand over her body. The person reached over to the lamp at the side of her bed and switched it on revealing themselves to be none other than Scott Hall.

"If I let you go don't scream. I mean it" Scott warned. A terrified Lacey nodded frantically as Scott slowly let her go.

"How did you get in here?" She asked.

"Receptionists. It's the 90s. I'm a good looking guy. I've got cash to spare. Do the math" Scott said. Lacey panicked.

If Scott could get her hotel room number and the keys, it meant that anyone else could.

It also meant that Scott was more deranged than she thought.

"So, what are you doing here?" An anxious Lacey asked as she scanned the room looking for the best way to exit. She was light on her feet so she saw it being possible.

"To see the girl of my dreams of course." Scott said with a smile. "I wasn't too happy when you chased me out of your hotel room two months ago. I thought I'd pay you another visit to see if you've sweetened up a bit to my proposal"

"No. Absolutely not!"

"Yeah, I thought you might say that…" Scott said before grabbing her by the arms and restraining her as he could sense she was about to run. She struggled against him but was no match to his strength. "Yeah, I don't see you running away"

"Bastard" She mumbled.

"Anyways, I decided to pay a little visit to the WCW file database and found some interesting things." He said as he brought out a little envelope from his leather jacket pocket and handed it to her. She raised an eyebrow. "Open it up" He said.

She didn't want to but her natural curiosity got the better of her and she did so. Expecting to find another scandalous blackmail item, she instead saw a picture of a girl… and some basic information on the paper.

"Misty jones. Who is this?" Lacey asked with confusion. Scott smirked. "Twenty three, WCW employee, contract terminated indefinitely for… being in a prostitution ring?"

"Exactly. And that was just early this year. Such a shame." Scott said. "Now she's blacklisted from the wrestling world. Never to be heard from again" Scott said with mock sympathy as he shook his head. "I know Misty. Such a beauty and her wrestling skills were extra ordinary. But sadly, she's history"

Lacey was silent for a while as she took a good look at the files and at Scott. It didn't take long for her to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

"You had something to do with this, didn't you?" She asked as she narrowed her eyes at him. Scott smirked.

"You're a smart girl. Misty was just like you. Sweet, innocent, great wrestler, full of potential and also extremely beautiful. Hell, she was also Southern. But she refused me. No one does that" Scott said brushing some of her straight blonde hair away but she slapped his hand off. "Play nice"

"Why? No, I don't even understand what you want from me Scott." A teary eyed Lacey said.

"Well, if you don't give me what I want, I'll just reveal this to the world old Vinne Mac will have you blacklisted. He won't care if you're Shawn's sister or not. If Vince has another scandal on his hands, he could lose everything to the WCW" Scott simply said.

"All that just to have sex with me Scott? Are you insane?" Lacey asked as the tears poured down her face. "I don't want anything to do with you. Or with any of this!" She exclaimed as she burst into a full on sobbing session

Scott couldn't help but feel guilty. He actually liked the girl. He had for a long time. But dammit he was tired of waiting around for her. He couldn't wait forever.

"Well you've made your choice" Scott said and turned around to leave but was held back by Lacey. He smiled. ""Good girl. And hey, I'll be civil. If you let me do other stuff with you, I won't demand for actual sex"

"Scott… I…"

"Yet" He finished. Lacey sighed and nodded slowly as Scott captured her lips in his and roamed his hands through her body. "God I love you. And in time you will too"

End Of Flashback

Bret was stunned to silence. He didn't know what to say as the young Michaels finished the story. He watched her intently as she bowed her head down.

He couldn't help but feel sorry for her. If you saw her backstage she looked happy as a hare but who knew she was going through this. Being betrayed and blackmailed by someone she once trusted. Her brother's best friend nonetheless.

Bret cleared his throat as she snapped her head up at him.

"That was November. Since then, has he talked about having sex with you?" Bret asked. Lacey nodded.

"I haven't seen him much this year but the last two occasions he did. He's becoming impatient. I feel he thought I would have fallen for him by now but the truth is, I'm absolutely terrified of him! He almost forced me to three weeks ago but he held himself back. But he really wanted to today… I don't know Bret. I'm just…"

"It's alright" Bret said with a sigh. "Breathe" He instructed as she did just that. "Lacey, you have to take this up. You can't keep living your life in bondage and fear. You've gotta do something!"

"I've tried Bret! Scott is smart as a fox! And honestly, I'm just scared. I don't have the guts" Lacey confessed as she rested her head on her hands, looking frustrated. "I honestly just wanna sleep. Thanks for everything tonight. I know you don't like me but I really appreciate you bailing me out"

"You're welcome" He said as he watched her go over to the couch. "What are you doing?" Bret asked.

"Um, going to the couch" She said with a hint of amusement in her tone.

"Why? Just stay on my bed" Bret said. Lacey blushed.

"Thanks but you've already done a lot for me Bret. I don't wanna snag up your bed as well. Plus you had a long night" She said.

Bret was astonished. He wondered why she didn't just let him take the couch. It was the gentlemanly thing to do. And if she wanted to talk about who had gone through more that night she definitely took the cake.

"It's nothing really. Plus I'm smaller. I'll be comfortable" Lacey said with a small smile.

"Lacey, you're stubborn" Bret said with a small groan. She giggled.

"If I am then what are you? Just give me and extra blanket and go to sleep too Bret Hart. Tomorrow's a busy day" She said cheerfully.

Bret chuckled. She was really cheerful. It was hard to believe that only minutes ago, she was scared out of her bones, recounting what had happened with Scott.

"Here's your blanket" Bret said as he handed it over to her.

"Thanks Bret" She said with her big beautiful smile. "Goodnight" She said as she got on the couch and got comfortable as Bret switched off the lights.

"Goodnight Michaels" Bret greeted.

""Yeah?"

"Please don't say anything to anyone about this" Lacey asked.

"Relax, I'm not gonna tell anyone about Scott."

"No I mean about me staying in your hotel room overnight" Lacey asked. Bret was silent as he gave that a thought. "Please"

"My lips are sealed. Now get some sleep" He said as they both drifted off into sleep.

Wow. What a turnaround right. Did Bret just go from disliking Lacey to feeling sorry for her? Did Lacey just go from being scared of Bret to telling him a deep secret? And once again, I'm so sorry for villainizing Scott Hall. He is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time.
