Long after all the guests had gone home for the night, Sonny Eclipse yawned, stretched, and opened up Twitter on his phone to make a few tweets.
He saw it when he typed his name into the search bar.
"Musician Kal David, Passes Away Age 79"
All his hardware nearly stopped inside him.
That was the man who'd given Sonny his voice.
It was unfortunate that they'd never met, but Sonny kept thinking he'd get the chance to meet one day. Now they never would meet.
He didn't know how to feel about it, so he got up and started pacing the floor of Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe.
He always knew that he was speaking and singing with the voice of someone else - all animatronics did. But his had just... died.
He just felt confused. And empty. And weird. And sad. And full of regret.
Sonny returned to his astro-organ and began to process this news in a way only he could - he began to play his set.
From My Name is Sonny Eclipse, to Yew Nork, Yew Nork, Sonny played his set in honour of the guy who never really got round to seeing it, but always appreciated him.
A/N:
The voice of Sonny Eclipse, Kal David, died earlier today (August 16th). He also performed a song for the Goofy About Health attraction in the Wonders of Life Pavilion at Epcot.
He also had a very successful fifty year long career as a musician. So he was more than just Sonny Eclipse.
This one shot is dedicated to the memory of Kal David, a man who brought a lot of people happiness as a goofy little alien from the planet Zork, and through his own work as a blues musician.
