Chapter 19: Love in the Atmos
(Intro)
Valentine's Day in the Atmos. On the Condor, the Storm Hawks were celebrating Valentine's Day. The singles were setting up decorations while the couples were giving each other gifts. Skyler gave Aria a special sweet-smelling candle. Finn gave Twilight special blood-flavored candy. Junko gave Judy a heart carving out of brick. Stork gave Lavender a special bouquet of flowers. Sky gave Amy Lu an ice sculpture of her with a big heart. Even Radarr, having changed to his human form willingly, gave Skyla something special. A special heart-shaped crystal necklace. "Thank you, Radarr." Skyla said, kissing Radarr on his cheek, making him blush hard.
Aerrow sighed as he watched the couples give each other their gifts. He turned his attention to Piper, who was polishing a picture of the team on their first day as a squadron. He wanted to ask her out for Valentine's Day, but he was too nervous. "Aerrow, you okay?" Aria asked. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine." Aerrow said. "Except?" Aria asked. "Well, I want to ask Piper out for Valentine's Day. But I'm too nervous to even try." Aerrow said. "Aerrow, you know that you and Piper have shared a special bond with each other since you were kids. You have it in you to ask her on a date for Valentine's Day. I believe it." Aria said. Aerrow looked at Piper as she put down the picture. "You're right. Thanks, Aria." Aerrow said. "Anytime. Now go get your girl, Sky Knight." Aria said.
As Piper sorted through some decorations, Aerrow walked over to her. "Hey, Piper?" He asked. "Yes? What's up, Aerrow?" Piper asked. "Well, I was wondering if you…" Aerrow started to ask. "Yes?" Piper asked. "Would you like to…go with me to the orchestra on Terra Symphony tonight for Valentine's Day?" Aerrow asked, pulling out 2 tickets to an orchestra on Terra Symphony. Piper gasped at this. "You mean it?" She asked. "Yes. I overheard that you wanted to see this orchestra for a while. So, I went and bought a couple of tickets for the show tonight." Aerrow explained. Piper felt touched as she looked at the tickets. "So, will you go with me for Valentine's Day?" Aerrow asked. "I would love to." Piper said. "Great." Aerrow said, happy with her answer. "Well, I better go get prepared for tonight." Piper said as she walked off to her room. Aerrow felt like a huge load was lifted off of his chest.
Later, as Aerrow spruced himself up in the mirror for his date with Piper, Aria came into their shared room. "Nicely done back there, bro." She said. "Thanks. But now I feel even for nervous. This is my first date with Piper ever." Aerrow said. "Hey, don't sweat it, bro. Everyone gets nervous on the first date. Even I got nervous when I went out with Skyler for my birthday on Terra Moonhill." Aria said. "Your point?" Aerrow asked. "My point is that if you want to use this date to tell her how you really feel about her, it's your chance." Aria said. Aerrow thought about that as he looked in the mirror. "Yeah, you're right. I'm gonna take my chance and make this the best first date ever." He said. "Then go out there and make it the best first date." Aria said.
Later, Aerrow and Piper flew their skimmers to Terra Symphony for the orchestra. And just in time too. They showed their tickets and took their seats on the softness of the grass just as the orchestra was about to begin. As the orchestra played, Piper looked at Aerrow with a question on her mind. "Aerrow, what made you go through all this trouble to bring me to this orchestra?" She asked. "Well, you know about the bond we've shared ever since we were kids. And I knew how much you wanted to see this orchestra." Aerrow explained. "And?" Piper asked. "Well, I wanted to do something special for you on Valentine's Day because…I have feelings for you." Aerrow revealed. "You…you do?" Piper asked, blushing a bit. "Yes. And I have for a while. Before we became a squadron." Aerrow said. Piper was touched by this reveal. She turned Aerrow's head to face her. "Aerrow, I feel the same way about you." She said. Before Aerrow could say anything, Piper pressed her lips against his, sharing their first kiss. Aerrow returned the kiss as the orchestra reached the end and fireworks were shot into the air.
Later, Aerrow and Piper returned to the Condor, their hands holding each other. After they parked their skimmers in the bay, they walked to the bridge. "SURPRISE!" Everyone shouted as they jumped out of their hiding places. Aerrow and Piper were surprised by this. "What is this?" Aerrow asked. "It's a celebration for your first date." Finn said. "We've been preparing for this for a while now." Sky said. "Isn't it amazing? It was all Aria's idea." Skyler said. Aerrow and Piper turned to Aria, who was smiling proudly. "You never cease to amaze me, Aria." Aerrow said. "Anything to help my brother." Aria said, bringing Aerrow and Piper into a hug.
Later, Aerrow and Piper sat in his shared room. "So, Piper, you think that after today, we could possibly try to start a relationship?" Aerrow asked. "Nothing would make me any happier, Aerrow." Piper said. She gave him one more quick kiss and started to return to her room. But she stopped in the middle of the hall and looked at her ring finger. 'The one thing that would make me happier…is to see Aerrow put a ring on this finger someday.' She thought with a smile as she returned to her room.
Aw. Wasn't that beautiful? Aerrow and Piper go out to a beautiful orchestra on Terra Symphony for Valentine's Day. And as they become couple in the end, Piper reveals her deepest wish from a quiet distance. What other adventures await the Storm Hawks? Will Piper's wish come true one day?
