Brief History:
The island where Najenda was born is still unknown, as is whether or not she has a family name, and it is believed that she or one of her subordinates who defected with her destroyed the documents that had that information during their defection but it is believed that she was born in the Grand Line. It is also very likely that she was born on a war torn island that the World Government either exploited or did nothing to help until it was too late. This would explain her eventual defection as she'd seen the dark side of the World Government but it is just a theory regarding her.
What is known is that at around the age of 12 she joined the Navy and showed extreme promise under form Admiral Zephyr's training with a noted gift in sniping to the point that by the time she became an officer at the age of 15. Due to her promise and gender, she was recruited into Vice Admiral Tsuru's unit as is customary for promising female officer.
From there her record of service was exemplary and included notable accomplishments and commendations as she quickly ascended the ranks while being mentored by the likes of Tsuru and the future Vice Admiral Kaina. One of the most notable events to which Najenda was present for was the Barrow Island incident in the North Blue, the first of several other moments over her time under Vice Admiral Tsuru's command during which she always showing a calm efficiency and skill at arms while also showing mercy and justice in her actions.
One thing that is known about Najenda is that her personal justice was Fair Justice and she employed many times during her Navy days and didn't shy away from arresting corrupt officials even if it rubbed people the wrong way. This style and efficiency, especially because she seldom killed unless absolutely necessary, coupled with the patronage of Vice Admiral Tsuru ensured that by the age of 20 Najenda was made a Vice Admiral, one of the youngest in history, and seen by a faction as a strong Admiral candidate.
Najenda knew that she was an Admiral candidate but she only sought the position because of the good that she could do as by that point she, like Vice Admiral Garp, disliked the Celestial Dragons and wouldn't have accepted a promotion to Admiral otherwise. As such, when an Admiral position became available 5 years later Najenda was one of the finalists along with Vice Admirals Budo, Enji, Tsunagu, and Esdeath but she was passed over for Esdeath in what many saw as a surprise as Enji had been the favorite for the position and this appears to have been Najenda's breaking point.
This is likely because Najenda had worked with Esdeath several times and knew that for as powerful as her fellow Vice Admiral was, she was also a bloodthirsty, ruthless, and almost certainly insane woman who lived for battle and even deliberately left people alive so that they'd ferment more rebellion just as an excuse to fight more. Najenda raised her concerns with Fleet Admiral Sengoku but Esdeath's ruthless efficiency and loyalty to the World Government, so long as she could fight, was what won her the position over Najenda, Enji, and others.
In the wake of this Najenda seemed to have snapped and defected from the marines along with two of her subordinates, Commodore Bulat and Captain Lubbock. In the process they stole valuable, classified, documents and experimental weapons including an extremely valuable prototype that Najenda ensured bonded with her.
In addition to this they absconded with two Devil Fruits, the Snipe-Snipe Fruit that had been given to Najenda by the late Vice Admiral Kaina when they were both subordinates under Tsuru, though Najenda never at it, and the Cut-Cut Fruit. They escaped on Najenda's battleship adding that to their arsenal and fled into the Grand Line.
This alone earned Najenda one of the highest starting bounties when it was revealed that she'd turned to piracy and was the Captain of the newly christened Night Pirates, a rookie crew that actively hunted and killed government officials they deemed corrupt or abusive. Said bounty was 89 million berries.
All this was revealed a few years after her defection though as she was presumed dead due to Admiral Esdeath tracking her down and cutting off Najenda's right arm at the shoulder and destroying her right eye shortly after Najenda's defection. However, Najenda survived and proceeded to recruit some of the most efficient killers out there, and finally came into the light 3 years after her defection.
This was bad for the Navy and World Government but it got worse because one of the documents that Najenda had stolen is believed to be the one that had the location of the Beast-Beast Fruit, model: Tyrant, a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit that is considered on par with Kaido's Devil Fruit as its powers, properly used, could change the world so it couldn't fall into her hands. Unfortunately it did and because of that and her other actions her bounty shot up to 289 million berries before she returned with the wielder of Tyrant and her crew to the Grand Line and continued her path of destruction there.
For whatever reason, Nagant has chosen now to take her crew to the New World and thus stopped at Sabaody. While there it is believed that one of her crew killed a Celestial Dragon as one was reported missing after visiting the Archipelago along with all of his guards but his body has yet to be found. What is known though is that she was at the Employment Office with some of her crew when Straw Hat Luffy punched Saint Charloss and it's almost certain that her crewmember, Akame, tried to kill Saint Sharlia during the ensuing chaos.
Despite the efforts of Admiral Ironwood, Najenda escaped with her crew. Due to her presence there and bounty she is a Super Rookie and given the timing this makes her a Supernova and a member of the Worst Generation along with two of her underlings which makes the Night Pirates one of only two crews with 3 members of the Worst Generation.
