Here is the sixteenth chapter in this story released in accordance with my upload schedule for this story. Level 2 has been freed and that means that there is only one more level left to go before the second wave reaches the exit and freedom. That said Level 1 is going to be the toughest in several ways and they still have to get out and deal with the Navy that may or may not be waiting for them. Well, they've made it this far so it's time for that final push and who knows what that might entail as the second wave reaches the final level of Impel Down. That is all that I have for the administrative stuff I have for y'all and while there are no questions that can be answered there is a guest review that needs a response so I will do that now. Do keep them coming as your support is the best motivation for me to keep producing chapters at this kind of rate.
To KGBeastboy (guest), thank you for your review and suggestions and I will address them now. In terms of where Nagant will go, you aren't wrong in that her ultimate destination will be the Peachy Kingdom but she actually doesn't know where it is or else she'd have gone there to put a bullet in Iva's big head before he was caught. However, you'll see in this chapter what the plans are on that regards so stay tuned there. Certainly Nagant ending up on Peachy Island is inevitable and I'm considering doing an arc about that during the time skip, sorta early time skip, so if people are interested in it let me know. That's a good way to introduce Charlotte into the story though she will have already had contact with Yami a few times before this, she does need to fall for him, but her returning to her homeland despite being an exile to check in does fit and I was planning something with Amazon Lily so I'll see if it works. Don't forget that Hancock didn't lose her title, she still has it, she almost lost it but didn't because she listened to Luffy over reason. Thorn Princess or Yami's pet name of Prickly Princess will likely be her epithet when it's revealed not just because of the whole Snake Princess thing for Hancock or Yami's pet name but there's a trend I'm doing with Princess epithets and this fits it nicely. Adding Wandering Empress could work as well as Hancock does have two epithets so the woman who lost the power struggle to her could have two as well. Thanks for reminding me of that, I know that they share a VA (she also voices Ultear) as Lydia Mackay is the only Black Bull who doesn't also voice and MHA character and when researching that I learned she did Hancock as well. That said I'd not considered how she'd react to her rival for Yami sounding like Hancock, that will be amusing for a few scenes I have planned. However, what will be even more amusing is the fact that Charlotte shares a VA with Luffy which could utterly throw Hancock when they meet. Luffy is the one voice Colleen Clinkenbeard voices that I never associate with her because he's so different to her usual roles so when I think of her roles I always go to Erza, Charlotte, and Momo not Luffy though one of the best deep dub references is Clinkenbeard's role in Good Luck Girl which has her pretend to be Luffy at one point as a One Piece reference but I digress. Once the big interplays happen things are going to get real interesting especially if say Robin sees an interaction between Yami and Charlotte and finds it amusing given who they voice on the Straw Hats. Do keep reading and enjoying my work.
Anyway, that is enough for this long pre-chapter note so sit back and enjoy the sixteenth chapter in The Ultimate Worst Generation.

Chapter 16: Crimson Breakout
Thankfully, the women's wing of Level 2 had been relatively close to the stairs up to Level 1 so it didn't take Nagant and her growing crew all that long to reach the rest of the mass breakout that had gathered at the base of the stairs up though they were the last group to reach it. Even she blinked at the sheer size of the breakout when she reached the mass of people who'd gathered there.
It was too much to count, over 100 at least if not double or triple that, but thankfully there was some sense of order to it as Nagant reached it. Plenty of groups had formed based on who'd freed them and now the officers of the other Captains were somewhat corralling the groups together though it was a bit loose. Additionally, there was a mass that hadn't decided to join one of the former Warlords' crews while many of the women who'd been broken out had grouped up together in a separate group at the very back.
Nagant ignored all of it as she raised her right arm into the air and turned it to a rifle that she then fired a single shot as she and her crew reached the mass of escaping prisoners. The crack silenced everyone and caused those nearest the shot to flinch as they all turned to see them standing at the edge of the mass worry that the guards had returned to recapture them.
"Thank you now move aside." Nagant said calmly as she lowered the still smoking rifle that was her arm and began to walk forward though she didn't change her arm back to normal. "I need to discuss the plan for the final level with the other Captains. Don't worry, there are still no guards coming to stop us, not that they could with the power in this group."
There was some murmurings but a glare from Nagant as she walked through the mass quelled any attempt to talk to her, well that and the rifle arm, and the crowd parted to allow her and the now 7 crew members she'd gained through. Few knew who she was but there was a deadly aura emanating from Nagant as she walked that told the prisoners that she wasn't someone you wanted to mess with. Add in that she was obviously a Devil Fruit user, an extremely lethal one at that, and no one was going to stop as she walked forward and found the other ringleaders gathered at the base of the steps up.
"What's the report?" Nagant asked them as she reached the men and finally returned her arm to normal. "I presume someone has already gone up."
"Yeah I sent Mimic." Kai said while Nagant's crew, under Robyn's guidance due to her experience, remained in the area between the Captains and the rank and file prisoners that had been set up by the other senior officers or executives. "He went up as soon as the direct path through this level was clear and while we were freeing people. He reported in a few moments ago and said that it's going to be a roundabout path."
"How so?" Nagant asked.
"First there's a lot of damage from the fight between the Demon Guards and those two monsters we unleashed back on Level 5." Kai said. "Those things are tough bastards but they're down for the count now. Can't say if they're dead or not though as Mimic didn't want to get to close."
"That's a wise move as they're awakened Zoan types." Nagant said. "They're nigh on indestructible. Even with Armament Haki it will take a lot to put them down for good. It is best to stay away from them."
"Agreed." Kai said. "But they're out for now so we're good there so long as we stay well enough clear. However, the bigger problem is the corrosion."
"Corrosion?" Nagant asked.
"Magellan used something bad up there according to Mimic, something we've never seen before." Kai said. "It's red based on the corpses and seeped into the stones. Mimic doesn't dare go near it as it seems to be highly efficient. It leads to the entrance though; he was able to use the ceiling to check that out. Also there's no sighting of Muscular or Moonfish."
"Ideally they've beaten up Magellan, who we don't know about either which is a bit of a concern at the moment, but have been poisoned by him in return which as neither has range." Patry said before he corrected himself. "Well, don't have range that doesn't connect to themselves. The ideal situation is that they're dead as well as they're loose cannons."
"No shit and they're not exactly useful middlemen but we've got that one out so he's all we really need." Jose said glancing over to where Mustard stood near his executives but not with them or the other prisoners. "But they're somewhere upstairs and we've got to figure that out."
"Yeah, we might need them as bargaining chips." Nagant said. "We'll subdue them and transport them in sea prism stone. The Navy ship we'll steal will have a brig to help out."
"Navy ship?" William asked, he'd just been following the motions with Gueldre at this point so he wasn't really focused on the plan. "Why do we need to steal a Navy ship?"
"We have to steal one because we're in the Calm Belt so only a special ship can traverse it." Nagant explained. "And given where we are and the rarity of such ships our only option is a one of their battleships. Thankfully there should be one around here as there are always a few around Impel Down."
"It does make sense to steal one for multiple reasons." Patry said. "It will serve as good cover and allow us to sail south to the South Blue where we can properly plan what we want to do. No point heading for the Tub Current or the Grand Line right now. Things will be getting too hot in Marineford because Whitebeard will attack and it would be suicide to go to Ennis Lobby."
"Yeah best to get out of the Grand Line all together." Jose agreed. "But we need to get to the entrance and how do you propose that?"
"First we free who we need to free on Level 1 as I still have 3 men up there." Kai said. "Then I can make something over the damage with my power. That said it will be circuitous and we're going to have to go up via the side passages. The main stairs up are contaminated. Right now Mimic is making a side path to the entrance it for us from an undamaged part of the Level 1 where he's also gathered the male inmates still there."
"What about guards?" Nagant asked. "Any word on them? We've not seen any since we saw the bodies on Level 4."
"Most seem to be dead and those that aren't have been taken to wherever the medical bay is here or just fallen back while waiting for the Warden to reestablish order as he's the only one who really can." Patry said. "Not that he will of course so we've got a clear path as far as I can tell."
"Yeah it's been a good thing that that first wave sorted things out, made this a lot easier for us." Jose said. "I say we go now while things are still in disarray."
"Well need to go from two sides." Nagant said. "Once we get up there we'll come to a drawbridge over the blade trees that are used for the signature torture of Level 1 and are why it's called the Crimson Hell. On the other side we split up as the women's quarters hug the edge of the prison portion in a closed off section and my crew has a few members there. I'll take them and anyone who follows that way and then use a special passageway I know exists in the women's block and work up to the entrance."
"A special passageway?" Kai asked.
"There are paths for the guards to get around and between levels only they can access, as a former Vice Admiral I was privy to the blueprints so I know where some of them are." Nagant explained, not adding that the reason why she knew about them was because she'd carried out a few covert assassinations in Impel Down itself back when she was still a weapon of the World Government. "The one in question is there so that guards can reach the women's block without going through the main level."
"I'm not surprised." Jose said. "There were bound to be other paths between the levels privy only to the jailers and guards. Where does this one lead?"
"The generator room and that borders the intake." Nagant said. "Given the layout it will be the other side to where you lot will end up via the path Kai's man is making. You go that way via the other cells but free everyone. No point in not doing so and there are a few men who know one of my recruits who should be there. From what Dazu's said there should be 3 who were sent to Impel Down with her and Bow."
"Who are they?" Patry asked, he may not like humans but there was no denying that Nagant was one of the deadliest human's he'd ever met so keeping in her good graces could be beneficial to his own long term plans for vengeance against the Black Bull Pirates. "I'll make sure they're there."
"I don't know their names but ask who knows Dazu and Bow from the Clover Kingdom." Nagant said. "You're a Clover native if I recall so it shouldn't be too hard for you."
"I am and if they were captured after me then they'll know who I am after what I tried to do there." Patry said. "I'll make sure they're freed."
"Well as I said the men should already in hand." Kai said. "My last 3 Bullets are on Level 1 and Mimic has orders to free them and everyone else he can find up there. Rhya mentioned to him that you lot have four or five men there as well so it's just easier to free all of them, confirm our men are present, and then take everyone who wants to come with us."
"Alright then we'll leave that to you and if we clear out Level 1 then it will add to the humiliation that the World Government will suffer from this mass breakout." Nagant said. "It's a good thing that a Navy battleship can hold 1000 men. We've got over hundred already if not 200 plus and there's bound to be a good few hundred more upstairs."
"Manifest says that there are 600 inmates on that level but between Magellan's poison and the earlier breakout that number is likely less." Patry said. "I'd say closer to 400 maybe even less depending on how packed the central cells are."
"Well get all you can and let's move." Nagant said. "One thing is certain, y'all are going to have a lot of minions after this."
"It will help us rebuild our strength in no time." Jose said with a grin. "But agreed, let's move."
"Move out!" Patry called his voice raising as he looked back at the still waiting mass of prisoners. "Up the stairs and then split up! Follow either the gun armed purple haired woman or the light swords in the air. To freedom!"
Nagant grunted at that but didn't really care as she began to run up the stairs before Patry had even finished his command, her recruits quickly rushing in behind her. As soon as she moved the situation broke and Kai, Jose, Patry, and William followed with William still towing Gueldre like he had all along. Behind them their officers followed in a rough group with those who'd been held on Level 3 getting carried much to their annoyance while the mass of escapees brought up the rear. It was time for the final push and then they'd be free so all were ready for it.
It didn't take too long to reach the top of the stairs, they were used to this by now so they were pretty quick between levels, and soon they burst out of the tower and onto the drawbridge over the blade trees that gave Level 1 its name. Below them there were a few dead guards who'd been tossed there and impaled by the trees while the signs of battle where before them but they ignored it as Nagant and Kai, who were leading the charge, veered off to the sides as soon as they got off the drawbridge.
Nagant went left and all those she'd recruited and those who had decided that they would join her crew did the same while Kai went right with the bulk behind him. As he did a pair of light swords appeared above him with the points pointing in the right direction to help out.
At this point they had around 300 prisoners with them and about 200 more were still on Level 1 after everything that had occurred on the level so it was getting packed. That said, thanks to being the force that freed them and the subordinates who were really showing why they were officers on Warlord crews, the more than 200 rank and file prisoners were steadily being split into 4 camps.
3 were for the three established crews, these were those who had already decided to pledge their loyalty to the crew that freed them and serve that crew as best they could for getting them out while the fourth were the independents. The independents who would break out with them and then be allowed to make their own way once it was all done which may or may not include joining one of the breakout crews.
The independents were a potential problem in the long run but they were outnumbered by the rest and just like with Buggy, those who'd chosen to serve Patry, Kai, or Jose were already becoming fanatical followers of the former Warlords and already trying to recruit them. Between that and the fact that the 4 Captains were formidable warriors any problems would be dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Only William hadn't recruited anyone for his eventual crew, which he did intend to form, but he wasn't actively recruiting though he was taking Gueldre with him. The man was an asset that William was going to use establish himself and then he'd cut the man loose in the South Blue once he'd served his purpose and let him fend for himself. That wasn't a concern to William though as despite his bluster Gueldre was a survivor and that survivor instinct was about to get better as they passed through several empty cells and walls in a premade path by Mimic and reached a large, multi-tiered, hall filled with more empty cells.
"Why if it isn't the bastard who framed me for his crimes when shit was getting hot and got me sent me here to be tortured to death. I didn't expect to see your large ass in this hellhole, not that it doesn't belong here."
The voice came from the gaggle of over 100 prisoners who'd been released by Mimic making a path through the level and subsequently ended here as it was the only safe path. They were milling around chatting and not sure what to do other than follow the instructions that had been given them first by the strange voice coming from the walls as it freed them and then three prisoners who seemed to know that voice personally.
They were three of the notable cell leaders in the section of Level 1 for more problematic inmates who needed extra torture but weren't bad enough for Level 2 for various reasons. It was why they'd been in cells away from the main part of the level and thus avoided both Magellan's poison and Buggy's mass breakout. Now they stood before the mass keeping them in order as they waited for Kai to reach them.
One was a tall, slim man with short, spikey, pale hair and light eyes with a monk-like disposition that calmed many down. Another was a brawny man with shadowed eyes who's head had been shaved when he arrived but was starting to grow back in a slight buzz who was known for his brutal reign over his cell and thus was the enforcer of the trio. The final one was a creepy but slim man with circular eyes surrounded by dark bags, unruly black hair, and a wide mouth who's general disposition unnerved the Level 1 prisoners into compliance. They were of course Hekiji, Yu, and Soramitsu respectively, the final 3 Bullets.
Of the three the first, Hekiji, had been the one to take charge and get things ordered and instructed the escapees about the plan that Mimic had relayed to him and along with Yu and Soramitsu he'd ordered the escapees into a general group while Mimic continued to work. Of course he made sure to espouse the benefits of joining the Hassaikai Pirates and how great and wise a Kai was as a Captain when this was done and already many were on board but not all.
One such prisoner who wasn't going to join the Hassaikai Pirates was a tall lean man with messy black hair that fell past his shoulders and a nasty burn scar on the left side of his face from above his left eye to his jaw and covered most of his cheek. He had no intention of joining the Hassaikai but he was willing to use them to get out of this shithole as he had his own plans for once he was free.
He was also the one who'd spoken and as the main escape group charged into the hall he'd spoken up at seeing Gueldre, the man who'd sent him on the mission that had scarred him and then later on the one that had gotten him captured which had subsequently led him to being chucked into Impel Down and tortured every day since then. He was notable in the crowd as he still had sea prism stone shackles on his wrists which hadn't been removed unlike the general shackles that had been for everyone else.
"Revchi, how I didn't want to ever see you again after you failed that mission." Gueldre said from the roots still holding him and connecting him to William as the second wave came to a stop before the corralled Level 1 prisoners with the leaders of it standing before the mass of lower level prisoners. "And I didn't get you sent here, I just made sure you took the fall for things should you fail but you should have been able to get away seeing as you are a Devil Fruit user."
"Yeah well some brat with a power to nullify Devil Fruits, not that I think he knew what he could do, ran into me when I was in the North Blue and beat me up when I tried to capture his friend as a slave." Revchi spat. "And then they both turned me in for the bounty that I had thanks to doing your dirty work."
"Wait did this brat have a large sword?" Gueldre asked. "And the moment he hit you with it you couldn't use your power."
"Yeah." Revchi said his anger overriding his surprise. "That's the brat who captured me."
"Then he's why I'm here as well." Gueldre spat. "As you can see old Lord Vangeance was also dirty, dirtier than I was in fact, and hung me out to dry like I did you and I almost got away but for some pirate brat called Asta."
"Yeah that's him!." Revchi said. "I want him dead!"
"Same." Gueldre said.
"Well looks like your buddy is coming with us then." William said cutting off the exchange before it could go any further. "I don't know Asta well but I am good friends, or was at least, with his Captain so I will warn them that you two are after them though as they defeated a Warlord twice I doubt you two are much of a concern to them. Of course this will only be after you two help me out and I've released you in the South Blue."
"Huh, why would…" Revchi began before another root shot out of William's hand, the same one still holding Gueldre, and snagged Revchi around the chest pinning his arms there. "Hey put me…"
William used the root to cover both Revchi and Gueldre's mouths to silence them before lifting the former into the air and pulling him back to be with his former boss. They could discuss things once they were safely free of Impel Down and strike a deal regarding Gueldre's assistance in what William had planned.
As this was happening, five men who'd been freed and gone along with things until now stepped forward and knelt before Patry the moment he'd come to a stop in front of the Level inmates. One was bald with white eyes and a tattoo around his head, one had poofy green hair and a smug look on his face, one had black hair parted in the middle with bangs framing his face and creepy eyes, one had bushy brown hair and a wide grin, and the last messy light hair with three strands over his forehead and a gaunt look.
These were the 5 remaining officers of the Elf Pirates, all low grade human trash to Patry with bounties barely making it to 10 million but they were useful and he smiled. They'd clearly had the sense to break out when they could and wait until he arrived to welcome them back into the fold. Patry was more than fine with that as they'd continue to serve their roles well in his reborn crew.
"Rise my officers." Patry said and they did. "We're breaking out and once more vengeance against all those who have wronged us will be ours."
"Yes master." All 5 said.
"Good now go join the others." Patry said while the crowd of inmates looked confused as Patry turned to it. "Presumably, you're already informed about what is going on which is good but I have one thing to say to you before we move on, or rather a question that I need an answer to. Do any of you know people called Dazu and Bow and are from the Clover Kingdom?"
"Yeah I do." A man with brown hair in a bowl cut said stepping forward from the crowd, pushing his way through a few fellow prisoners to do so. "I pledged my life and support to Dazu's cause."
"Me too." A second man this one with light brown hair parted in the middle added joining him. "We're her most trusted subordinates."
"And me." A third who had short, styled blond hair chimed in also stepping out of the crowd last. "We're part of their inner circle. I was caught before the other two were but they surrendered as part of a deal she made to safe the hundreds who followed her from being executed by the evil nobles who run the Clover Kingdom."
"Yeah I don't care." Patry said noting that these three were forgettable grunts like everyone else here was to him and that included the 5 junior officers in his own crew. "But I was told to find three of you and here you are. Your friends have been broken out and joined a budding crew led by a fellow Level 6 prisoner so you're going with them when this is done."
There was surprise and happiness with the three as they turned to chat about it amongst themselves but Patry ignored them as he turned to Kai who was looking up at the top of the room, right at the ceiling. Patry did as well and a moment later a hole appeared in it.
"I take it that that's your man." Patry said. "Clever, keeps the rabble down here waiting for us."
"Yeah he'll have made us a path and it's up to me to reach it." Kai said as he walked over to be below it noting that it was a fair bit away from the rest of the room. "Standback unless you want to get caught in my power."
Then, before anyone could say anything, Kai placed his palm on the ground and it imploded around him sending a large quantity of dust into the air. As soon as that happened it reformed into a winding ramp upwards just like the one he'd used to break out of Level 6 only this one was longer and less steep as it spiraled up to the hole. The moment that it connected there was a shift that fused it and Kai rose.
"Don't head up just yet." Kai said as he stepped back while the others blinked at the scope of Kai's Matter-Matter Fruit powers. "We need the report about what is going on up there."
That confused most but those who knew understood and waited and if the clear leaders were waiting then no one else would dare to try to ascent. They didn't and a moment later Mimic rose out of the ground at the base of the ramp. With his arrival all that had just happened suddenly made sense to the Level 1 prisoners.
"Boss, the path I made will take us to a corridor that leads to the edge of the entranceway." Mimic said before he produced two baby transponder snails. "And I gathered some baby transponder snails as well just in case we need to coordinate things as the entire entrance way is filled with the potent poison that Magellan made. There are a few more up there waiting for you."
"Well we will no doubt have time to figure this out and the snails will be useful for coordinating with Nagant's group so let's move." Kai said taking two snails from Mimic. "Go to the front of the prison and look out. I presume you have a snail on you to keep in contact with me."
"Yup." Mimic said patting his pocket. "Don't worry boss, I've got my role sorted."
"Good then let's go." Kai said and that was all that was needed as he, Patry and Jose took the lead once more running up the ramp while Mimic sank back into the ground and travelled that way.
It was a little precarious but everyone knew that a run up it would get them out in the end so they were sensible as they moved in an orderly fashion without pushing as they made their way to the top. There they entered a dark passage that sloped slightly steeply upwards.
Once the three Captains were in the passageway Patry used his Light-Light powers to illuminate the way forward and slam a few light daggers into the walls for those behind and they once more ran along a path between the levels. It only took a few moments before they came out into a hallway that led to guard quarters to one side, Kai made sure to reform the wall to shoot out and block them off just to be safe, and the entranceway on the other side.
They naturally made their way to the entranceway but had to come to a halt before it as the corrosion of Magellan's strongest attack had seeped a few feet into the corridor. The officers quickly formed up behind their Captains to keep the prisoners in line, and for the most part in the passageway Mimic had made, while the Captains looked at the corrosion and noted that there were a few more baby transponder snails waiting for them.
"First things first we make sure that they have a snail on the other side." Patry said as he created a flat spear of light and Kai placed one of the snails that he'd gotten from Mimic on it while Jose took the others and began to pass them out to the senior officers on the three crews. "This will allow us to chat easier."
At that Patry sent the light spear shooting across the gap so fast that the ship, that Mimic was about to alert them to, couldn't see it and it slammed into the wall past the end of the corrosion with the scared snail still on it. Thankfully, the snail moved off and onto the wall and when it did Patry dismissed his light spear as there was sounds of battle in the room so he didn't want to alert any guards to his presence.
"Right next this corrosion." Patry said looking at it. "Any ideas? My light wouldn't be affected but I can't really create a barrier with it so I don't think I can help."
"It's poison right?" Sally asked stepping forward. "From Magellan?"
"Yeah, only thing it can be." Patry said. "It's red, or was before it mixed with the stone, not purple but there aren't many things that can cause this."
"Man I want to experiment on him but alas no time." Sally said unhappily as she turned her arms to gel. "But my gel should work to protect us."
"Hold up." Kai said as the snail he still held began to ring. "That's Mimic."
"Huh?" Sally asked and looked at Patry who nodded and so she stopped what she was about to do but didn't turn her arms back to normal.
"What is it?" Kai said as he answered and the snail opened its eyes to reveal that they mirrored Mimic's.
"Good and bad news boss." Mimic's voice said through the snail. "The good news is that there's a ship conveniently docked. Bad news is that it's full of marines."
"We can deal with that in a moment, it's not like any of the marines on it can stop us." Patry said. "For now we need to figure out how to deal with the corrosion. Sally, let's try your idea but make sure the gel doesn't pass the edge of the corridor. No point in alerting that ship to our presence before we attack it."
"Roger that." Sally said as she blasted the gel down and onto the corrosion on the floor but kept it within the corridor they were in. "Give me a moment, this stuff is clearly stronger than Magellan's usual poison."
From there Sally manipulated the gel still connected to her arms to the sides and then hardened it so that it was a good few inches thick. At that she crouched down and inspected it and assess if it was a viable barrier or not.
"Right the good news is that this corrosion isn't fresh so it's already seeped into the stone beneath it." Sally said assessing it and the discoloration that the lower inch or two of her gel had turned. "Bad news is that it can still kill if touched as it is transferring to the gel so it spreads on contact. That said, the gel will hold as it can only get through a bit of it and I can always add more to the top layer just in case. So long as Rhya and I make it thick enough we can create a protective coating that will hold until the last person is on the ship."
"That means that you two will take the rear and get everyone out." Patry said as the sounds of battle from across the entranceway died down. "But we're in position so now all we do is wait for Nagant."
"Then let's get the details of that battleship." Kai said as he looked at the snail. "Mimic if you will."
With that Mimic began to note the battleship and the positions of the marines on it along with any other relevant information that Kai asked for as they waited trusting that Nagant would be on the other side soon as she was a highly capable woman. She would but she'd been a little distracted so it would be a few more moments before she too was in position as the final push to escape neared.
While the men, and several of the women who were either already officers of the various crews like Sally Catherine, and Sue or who'd decided to either throw in their lot with one of the crews or go off on their own once they were freed, veered to the right once they got off the drawbridge, Nagant went left as she stepped off it first. She led the women, and a few men who had their own reasons for following Nagant and joining her though of course all potential recruits, man, or woman, would have to pass Robyn's True-True powers before she accepted them and she had a feeling many of both genders would fail that test.
Nagant couldn't dwell on that at the moment, however, as she focused on her goal at hand which was to get to the generator room and assess the situation there. The path to it was convenient as it took her through the women's wing of Level 1 and she could use that to find any of Dazu's remaining followers, add to the escapees in general, and further humiliate the Navy and World Government. Who knows, she may even find another good recruit or two in addition to Dazu's friends. There was still one open senior officer position that she wanted so perhaps that could be filled with a Level 1 woman.
"How many of your friends are left?" Nagant asked Dazu as the woman ran next to her at the head of the pack with Robyn on her other side and the other original crew members behind them. "I know you said three men when we were running through a lower level but I need exact numbers now."
"5." Dazu said. "Three men and two women. Three of them, two men and a woman, were with me and Bow when we surrendered and made the deal to save the many followers we'd gained while the other two were part of the inner circle but caught during our first attack. I didn't expect those two here as well but I'll take them if they are."
"Right then go find them and free them." Nagant said realizing that there might not be three men for Patry to find but deciding to leave it to him while also being glad that she'd made sure that all the girls she'd recruited had either normal or gel keys that had been passed out at various points during the escape. "Tell them the deal and let all with them out as well. Your followers are definitely coming with us, providing they pass Robyn's power, while the others can make their own choice. The rest of you, open all the other cells and bring them with us. The more who escape the better."
"How many will there be?" Fiona asked as they moved and neared what looked like a dead end corridor right in the corner of the level with only a single door to the right that wouldn't have been noticed unless you were heading into the corridor. "In the block that is."
"Manifest says 63, so around that many give or take as it could be wrong." Nagant said as she turned her right arm to a rifle, and mid sprint raised it and fired a single shot almost without aiming that tore right into the lock on the wooden door that was a near impossible one from the angle and punched through it in a splinter of metal and wood. "I expect about 9 to a cell. Going to be a bit tricky as there are 16 cells in the block."
"Come again?" Robyn asked as everyone who saw the shot gaped at it as it shouldn't have been possible given all the factors but Nagant ignored it as she turned her arm back to normal. "That's, um…"
"I know the blueprints of Impel Down because I did a few quiet executions here, so I know the layout though I never thought it would come in handy like this." Nagant revealed being more truthful with her crew than the other Captains. "The women's wing on this level is behind that door that leads to a small area before the next door that keeps the wing closed off from the rest of the level. It's a two tier cellblock with 8 communal cells per level and a few torture or interrogation rooms. There's a third level which has a set of stairs that leads to the generator room where we need to go. This works well for us."
"Damn, guess sticking in the Navy was useful." Robyn said as Nagant turned and slid over the ground to come to a stop in front of the door that was still in place only now with a shattered lock. "You learned a lot there."
"Meh that was because of my other job for the World Government but being a marine does have its benefits because to reach my rank you need master Haki." Nagant said as she clenched her right fist and coated it and her forearm in Armament Haki turning it black from the hardening. "I'm more than just range remember."
With that Nagant punched the door as she came to a stop and proceeded to blasted it off its hinges to everyone's surprise as the rest of the group began to bunch up at the entrance to the dead end. As with before Nagant ignored it but she knew that this display of power and skill, combined with the fact that she'd been in Level 6 would solidify her leadership and the respect of her crew.
It wasn't much, and she'd train them hard so that at least some of them could do this as well, but it was a good display of what serving under her would do for them as Nagant walked through the remains of the door. As she'd expected she entered a small antechamber filled with torture equipment and up to a barred wooden door before her.
"Fiona, if you please." Nagant said and as she spoke her eyes flashed red as she focused on her strong Observation Haki and picked up 6 people who weren't in their cells which meant that they had to be guards. "That power of yours is damned useful though stand by the side of it."
"Th, thank you Captain." Fiona said with a slight flush as she moved past Nagant and stood against the wall where the hinges were before she placed her hand on the door and activated her Store-Store power. "It will take a few seconds."
"That's find now stay back, all of you." Nagant said seriously her Observation Haki still active. "There are still guards here that haven't been dealt with. I'll handle them."
Fiona nodded and the moment the door was sucked into her palm she leapt back and to the side and Nagant rushed forward and leapt through the entrance way as soon as the door vanished, both arms up and turning to short barrel rifles from the elbows down as she did. Nagant was still in the air as the two female guards on the same level turned to the door with confusion on their faces. That confusion would be permanently etched into them as Nagant calmly fired both rifles at the same time and drilled two shots fired through the guard's foreheads.
She then turned as she was landed and using her eyes on one side and Observation Haki on the other raised her arms and shot twice more taking the two guards on the second tier walkway the same way as they turned to face the sounds of gunfire. Nagant repeated her actions for the third tier now standing several feet into the cell block and dropped them as well with one of them falling over the railing to slam into the ground with a splatter that got partially on Nagant as blood haloed around the dead body.
This was nothing to her however as she turned to the stunned but hard women in the doorway while faces pressed against the bars just as surprised as the freed women. Nagant was a sight, her hair slightly mess with a spot of blood on her left cheek and stains on the left side of her prison uniform, lower arms still rifles and smoking with three bodies around her and three more above, blood running onto the floor and dripping off the railings.
"Damn I'd heard the stories but to see it in action." Robyn said her eyes wide at what she'd witnessed. "She didn't even aim three of those shots. That was all Observation Haki and at a level I've never seen before."
"Fuck me." Olive muttered. "Yeah that chick is lethal. Good thing I decided to join up."
"Same, yes, yes." Daphne said. "And no morals, good for me. There's so much I can do by following her."
"That was brutally efficient." Dazu said in stunned amazement. "C, Captain? This is your skill?"
"Sorry, I should have left one alive to question but old habits die hard and it has been a while since I was last in battle." Nagant said he tone emotionless as her arms returned to normal. "I did say that I'm a killer and deserved to be on Level 6. This is what I'm best at and I won't hesitate in a situation like this."
"Hey, no complaining lady, those women were right sadists." One of the prisoners yelled out. "They got off on torturing us, you could smell it that's how foul it was."
"Yeah no one deserves their punishment." Another woman said. "We owe you for that."
"Who are you anyway?" A third asked. "Clearly you're strong but we don't recognize you."
"I am your releaser." Nagant said and she raised her voice. "Listen up ladies. The curse of being in Impel Down as a woman is that unless you're like me and was sent to Level 6, you're segregated from the main areas so you don't know that there's a breakout that just happened and another one going on. Good thing that a few of you know my crew and that we need to get through here to continue to freedom so today's you're lucky day. I hate the Navy and the World Government for what they did to me and want to make them suffer so two mass breakouts will do that. We're going to break you out and add you to the others who have already been broken out and then you can decide what you want to do. Girls, free them."
With that Nagant fell silent and turned to walk to the end of the long cellblock past four cells of 9 women along four empty cells and two wooden doors to torture rooms. All eyes were on her as she walked to the bare looking back wall but she ignored them as she focused on her task.
Without hesitation Nagant walked up to a specific point on the wall and pressed what looked like a stone into it and turned as a zigzag stone staircase came out of the wall and lead up to the second tier and then the third before it came to a stop halfway up and in the middle of the nowhere which was where the door would be when a similar mechanism was pressed. Most blinked at this but there was no exclamations of surprise, not that Nagant would have noticed as she ignored the attention while the lower cells were freed and climbed up to the second level.
It appeared that Dazu and Bow didn't find who they needed on the first and moved up almost behind Nagant to the second to free with Fiona and Joanna aiding them while Robyn coordinated things on the bottom so that things went smoothly and Daphne and Olive aided where they could. Again Nagant left it to her and moved up to the final tier but as she reached it she sensed something and paused. This tier was for the guards and the body of one of the two she'd shot her sat against the wall along the walkway, high velocity blood splatter on the stone behind her and a wooden door a few feet past her.
That shouldn't be a surprise, there were guard barracks and breakrooms on all levels but Nagant got a feeling that it wasn't that as this was a room within a cell block. That meant that it had to be a special torture room, the women in the cells weren't surprised by the stairs, so there had to be prisoner in there.
The fact that the room was currently occupied peaked Nagant's interest and with everything she should free the woman regardless of who she was and so she walked to the door, stepping over the legs of the dead guard that were in her path, and pulled out a key to unlock it and look inside. What Nagant say surprised and revolted her though the latter because of what would have happened had she not arrived.
Inside was a woman with long blonde hair cut to have choppy bangs and two strands framing her pale face as she looked down at the ground. All that hung down around her head as she was forced to stand in a special wooden stock, her arms, and head through it as it was chained to the ceiling so that it hung in the air with a wooden stock on her ankles as well. If she slumped forward too much, not that the chain looked like it would allow that, she'd probably suffocate so it was torture but worse there was a table off to the side filled with knives and other sharp implements implying what would be used.
Thankfully, there wasn't any blood around the girl, though the room reeked of it and there were a lot of dried patches on the walls and floor from past tortures, and the moment that Nagant opened the door and stood there the girl raised her head in the stock as best she could. She wore the standard Impel Down prison uniform but that was to be expected as Nagant met the girl's bright blue eyes that had a mix of fear and defiance in them before they changed to confusion and finally recognition at who was before her.
"I, I know you." The girl said her voice still strong but fear creeping into it as she spoke. "So you're here to kill me then. Well I guess it was a matter of time after my dad was murdered and at least you don't torture. You kill quickly and efficiently which is a mercy I guess. Alright, just get it over with Lady Nagant and put that bullet in my head."
"Well this is a surprise." Nagant said and the surprise was actually in her voice as she'd not expected to be recognized by her moniker by some girl she'd never seen before but she pushed her surprise away as she turned her right forearm into a gun. "I wasn't expecting that especially because I don't know who you are."
"Not like you know your victims at all." The girl said resignation clear in her voice as she fully expected to be summarily executed in a moment though Nagant did know her victims, all of them, as she had to study who they were before she killed them and their faces often haunted her nightmares. "Better you than Captain Nyau. This was set up for him to skin me alive and add my face to his collection."
"Captain Nyau?" Nagant asked confused as she raised her arm her stomach roiling at what the girl was saying as even by Impel Down standards that was just evil. "Who's that?"
"You don't…" The girl began before Nagant fired and shot through the chain holding the girl up causing her to gasp in shock and fall forward due to her position and how weak she was from standing like this for a few days at this point but Nagant had already moved and caught her with her left arm around the girl's chest as she shot the lock off the wooden ankle stock at the same time. "Huh? What are you doing?"
"Didn't you see the outfit." Nagant said as she gently lowered the girl to her knees and made sure she could support herself before backing up and shooting the lock off the stock the girl had on over her wrists and neck so that it popped open. "I'm in the same one as you so I'm also an inmate in this hellhole though not for much longer."
"I, I just figured it was a ploy." The girl said as Nagant helped her out of it and then backed up as the girl collapsed onto her calves and panted pain and relief clear in her face. "You're an assassin for the World Government so I didn't question it. After all, what better way to kill someone in Impel Down then to pretend to be a prisoner here as well."
"How do you know that or the code name I had back then, well it's who I am now anyway, but still how?" Nagant asked not bothering to confirm that that very ruse had been used in the past. "Few were privileged to that intel."
"My father was Chouri, a high ranking non-slave advisor to a notable Celestial Dragon family." The girl said with Nagant noticing the past tense but she recognized the name. "Or he used to be at least. There was a tragic accident a two years ago killed the parents to leaving their young son the only member of the family left which is rare for the Celestial Dragons. Father was still his advisor but a scheming bastard called Honest coveted the job and power that came with advising a young, impressionable, Celestial Dragon. He planned and worked in the shadows for almost two years to frame my father for a crime against the Celestial Dragons."
"Sounds about right for Mariejois." Nagant said not surprised at all. "Even the servants of the Celestial Dragons scheme there."
"Yup and Honest is the worst of them." The girl said anger and hatred clear in her voice, not that Nagant blamed her for that. "And he's a master at that game. My father isn't, he's a straightforward man who only wanted what was best for the Celestial Dragon and help him be a good person like what Otohime did for Saint Myosgard. That's why my father never saw the scheme coming until it was too late. The evidence was false but overwhelming so he was executed for treason at the orders of the boy he'd tried to advise and I was taken into custody when I tried to save him as I was the leader of my father's bodyguard."
"I'm surprised you weren't made a slave." Nagant said as she looked over the girl before her. "Bluntly speaking you're very pretty and the lusts of those bastards are well known. I've been threatened by them on that front in the past so I know it well."
"That may have been better than this." The girl said with a sigh as she looked down at the ground not hearing all that Nagant had said as she continued to speak. "See, Honest used a contact of his in the Navy, an Admiral called Shirokami, to help him frame my father and it was the Admiral's personal unit who came to arrest him. When I fought against them, one of them, a sadist called Captain Nyau, called dibs on me and so the Admiral requested that I be sent to Impel Down and housed on Level 1 for him to do with as he pleased when the time came but he's not arrived yet."
"Ah I see, you were intercepted by an Admiral's unit not the Celestial Dragons." Nagant said understanding now. "So they didn't have a chance to enslave you. Still wrong that a marine Captain would do this but it does explain how you ended up here."
"Yeah my dad was traveling at the time the order was given so we weren't actually in Mariejois when Honest's scheme was sprung." Spear confirmed. "I was the sole survivor of the fight but they didn't have the time to kill me there, or the justification to torture me as it was an official marine action, so here I am. I figured that when they moved me up here a few days ago that the time was coming but then I saw you and I thought well at least my death will be quick as you don't make people suffer."
"I don't, it's sick to take pleasure in killing or hurting people." Nagant said the disgust clear in her voice. "I did what I did because it was my job and I thought I was doing the right thing until I realized I wasn't. I still remember all who I've killed for the World Government and the Navy, you don't forget shit like that."
"I'm surprised." The girl admitted. "Given your reputation and all. You kill from a distance so you don't see what you do."
"I have to know my target and trust me I do see what I do." Nagant said seriously. "But that's irrelevant now. What I want to know is how did you know my code name? I remember Chouri though I didn't know that he had a daughter, he was still an advisor to one of the Celestial Dragons that were descended from some emperor who once ruled a swath of the Grand Line if I recall but he was still alive when I got locked up which I'm still not sure how long ago that was. Still, from what I recall he was a good man, one of the few who served the Celestial Dragons as he was trying to educate the family to be better and like their ancestor who was one of the founders of the World Government. I don't know this Honest person though."
"Honest is an ironic name as he's the furthest thing from that that you can be." The girl spat. "As you said you knew my father, he didn't often mention me to others as there was no reason to reveal it, but he spoke of you often. The lovely Lady Nagant as he called you, a woman with purple and pink hair who could kill you from so far away you wouldn't hear the shot or know what was going on until the bullet hit you in the head. You were one of the favored assassins of the Celestial Dragons and the World Government who was used to deal with those they didn't like."
"That's about right but I also killed for the Navy, in fact that was who I mainly killed for given that I was once a Vice Admiral." Nagant said surprising the girl and causing her to look up at Nagant again. "I'll tell the full story later but I want one question answered right now. What was Shirokami's name as a Vice Admiral? There was no Admiral by that name when I betrayed the Navy and ended up here so that will at least give me a sense of how long I've been here."
"Esdeath." The girl fear and anger in her voice as she spoke the name but Nagant's eyes went wide and she gulped. "She was promoted about 4 years ago so you've been here a little longer than that at least."
"That bitch is now a fucking Admiral?" Nagant asked, there had been few that could rattle her but one had been the rising star and by the time she was arrested fellow Vice Admiral Esdeath as she was a straight up psychopath. "I knew they were fast tracking her; she broke my record for youngest ever Vice Admiral, but still. What is the Navy thinking making her an Admiral?"
"She follows orders from the World Nobles without question and will kill any who oppose the World Government." The girl said which Nagant knew was true and did explain the rapid promotion. "There was a vacancy and she beat out some other Vice Admirals like Enji, Budo, Tsunagu, Arcadios, Winter, and Najenda for the role. Caused a bit of an issue actually given her habit of committing atrocities, or what would be atrocities if they were done by anyone other than the World Government."
"Yeah I bet." Nagant said as she processed the news and was able to place her time in Impel Down at more than 4 years at least. "Well that's not good, she's a merciless fighter easily on par with what an Admiral has to be but she will slaughter everyone in her path. She lives for battle and strength."
"Yup and that was part of what made her a good choice." The girl said. "And Honest played some role in getting her promoted I think so he cashed that in and used her to get rid of my father. That was about 4 or 5 months ago maybe less as I have no clue how long I've been in Impel Down."
"Well you've got recent intel that I'll find useful and I am looking for members for my new crew as I'm now a pirate but tell me, what are your skills?" Nagant asked. "You said that you were your father's bodyguard so you've got some martial prowess I take it. Good thing as that's just what I'm looking for, I've gotten the other senior positions filled but I need someone with combat skills for the last major slot."
"Yeah I'm an expert with a spear." The girl said. "It actually is my namesake as well."
"Well then, Spear, any crew needs a swordsman, or in this case I guess a spearwoman, so how about it?" Nagant asked giving Spear a small smile as she held out her right hand to the girl who blinked at her. "I'm forming the Rifle Pirates and I could use a swordswoman as one of my senior officers, the final one as I mentioned, who can take charge of martial and combat training, with my aid of course, as well as to serve as my personal protector for even I need that. Plus we're going to get vengeance on this corrupt world which you know well, so, you up for that?"
"My lady, you've saved me from a fate worth than death, and which would have resulted in my death in the end, and I no longer have anything left to live for." Spear said as she shifted so that she was kneeling before Nagant her head down as Nagant blinked at her. "I know your reputation and while I am sure that there is more to be informed about, I will learn in time. My spear and life is yours my lady. I pledge my fealty and service to you and your crew as your officer and bodyguard, I swear that on all that is holy."
"Call me Nagant or Captain." Nagant said as she crouched down and helped Spear to her feet. "And thank you for your pledge. I have a way to fully confirm it but I don't doubt your sincerity. Welcome to the crew Spear."
"Thank you Captain." Spear said with a smile as tears filled her eyes at what she'd avoided and gained but she blinked them away. "I can't express how much I owe you for this."
"I'm sure you will show but for now come let's get out of here." Nagant said as she turned. "The others should be done by now so we've got to move on and out of this shithole."
Spear nodded at that though Nagant didn't see it as she headed out and back onto the walkway and towards the stairs. Thankfully, no one had ascended past her level without her, her little display of skill had ensured that they'd wait for her though they also couldn't get out without Nagant's knowledge, and were waiting on the stairs.
As Nagant would have expected, and was pleased to see, Dazu and Robyn were at the top with the other recruits who'd armed themselves with the dead guards' weapons below her and the gathered women, and few men who'd followed, were waiting on the stairs or lower walkway. Nagant did notice as she approached them with Spear just behind her and unfazed by the body, which was a good sign, that two women were with Bow.
One had auburn hair cut in a fringe with a parting over her right eye and the other dark brown hair parted in the middle. Both looked unassuming and Nagant had a feeling that they'd fall into the rank and file category while mainly working with Dazu but in a crew that could be useful anyway.
"Found them I take it." Nagant said to Dazu as she reached her first mate.
"I did, they're with Bow." Dazu said with a smile and pointing out what Nagant could see but it was good to have the confirmation of her suspicions. "They will join, thank you for accepting them Captain."
"Of course." Nagant said. "They will be tested by Robyn's Devil Fruit but that's more a formality as I'm trusting your judgement on this Dazu."
"I know and I understand." Dazu said. "I've been betrayed before; I wouldn't ask you to take them on my word alone."
"Smart." Nagant noted, Dazu was really proving the leap of faith that Nagant had taken with her. "Well then let's move on. We're almost there."
"Captain, before that, who's the girl with you?" Robyn asked looking at Spear as her voice hardened. "Was she about to be tortured or something worse."
"Spear, the crew's swordswoman though she uses a spear, and yes she was about to be tortured to death by a sadistic bastard in the Navy that is now on my personal hit list." Nagant said her voice darkening as she spoke before it softened back to normal. "She's my final personal recruit once you confirm what I am certain is true regarding her pledge to me. Now let's get out of Impel Down!"
This got a cheer from the woman but Nagant ignored that as she climbed up and to the landing as the women followed her though her crew were directly behind her as they should be. Again Nagant just pressed one of the stones into the wall. There was a grinding sound and a door designed to look like the wall slid open to reveal a set of stairs that ascended to the entrance level of Impel Down. The moment that Nagant saw that she took off up them, her lower right arm turning into a short barrel rifle once again as she did and the rest running behind her.
"Be ready." Nagant called out as she moved and the stairs began to spiral as they climbed upwards. "This is an internal stairwell that leads directly to the generator room and we might have issues when I break through it as that's where they keep the controls to the Gates of Justice. I'm going in hot so be ready."
There was some affirmation from behind Nagant but she ignored it as she moved ready for anything as she came up to the simple wooden door at the top of the stairs. Three quick shots blew off the lock and hinges and the door fell forward as Nagant charged into it; gun raised her left arm steadying it as she quickly surveyed the room. What greeted here was utter destruction.
The room wasn't really a room per se, more a space with terminals, the controls for the Gates of Justice, and a lot of tubes and other equipment that one would expect from a place that was designated as the generator room. At the far end was a large, open door that lead to entranceway to Impel Down and their freedom. However between that and the entrance was a warzone.
The terminals and controls were smashed to pieces with sparks flying from them and a few twitching cables flopped around on the floor. Flecks of poison dotted the area and steam was filling the room from damaged pipes. It wasn't a good scene but to top it off the broken, and in some cases mutilated, bodies of at least 4, though given the gore and body parts it could be more, male guards were strewn throughout it with Moonfish cawing about flesh as he gnawed on a severed arm. However, even that wasn't the most shocking thing.
No that was reserved for the bloody form of Warden Magellan who was on his back his face beaten to bloody, near unrecognizable, pulp with more blood all around his body as a grinning Muscular knelt over him with his muscles retracting into his body. He laughed as he licked his lips, blood covering his body.
"Now that was good, first the Demon Guards and then you running into you Magellan." Muscular said as he laughed. "Not as good as that brat who beat me and got me locked up her in the first place, man I can't wait to fight him again, but a good warm up for him for sure. Glad I got you when you were battling that freak so I didn't get poisoned."
Nagant didn't hesitate as she coated her rifle with Armament Haki so that the round she fired would infused with it as she took in the scene and then fired the moment she had her shot. The powerful bullet cracked out and before Muscular could turn it slammed into his back and into his spine shattering it before tearing through his right lung and out his right peck doing plenty of damage along the way.
That wasn't all though as Nagant had taken the time to line up her shot so that the bullet made would hit the pipe behind Muscular after it passed through him and then ricochet off it at such an angle that it struck Moonfish in the left side of his chest just above his heart as turned to look in confusion at the sound of the shot. Thanks to the angle the round it didn't sever anything vital as the second man fall back to the ground with a wail of pain that turned into a hacking cough of blood from his punctured lung.
"Gah what was that for you fucking bitch!" Muscular roared blood spewing from his mouth as he spoke while more poured from him and he tried to use his power to staunch the wounds but the damage was such that he couldn't move from the chest down and in too much pain to focus. "We had a deal!"
"We did and I'll honor it and get you out of here but I never said that I'd let you walk out under your own power." Nagant said as she strode across the room while the women filled it behind her and came to a halt at the grizzly scene with a few actively retching at what they saw because even for hardened criminals it was a lot. "You're a monster, both of you, but we need you so we'll transport you as prisoners and then Kai can use you to get contacts in the New World. They'll patch you up there."
With that Nagant reached Muscular and raised her right foot as she coated it in Armament Haki before she drove it down and home to curb stomp Muscular right in the center of his face and driving him into the ground, knocking him out in the process. As she did she looked to the side at Magellan. Ideally she should kill him right now with a bullet to the head but he looked dead and she had a feeling it was best to leave him. Still it was confusing as to why something had gone on in here at all.
"Find sea prism cuffs and chain these two up for transport to the ship." Nagant ordered as she turned away from Magellan and looked around. "We're taking them with us as they have value but we're not letting them lose as they'd just kill whoever they see fit and I won't let that happen, murder shouldn't be for sport or pleasure. They've done the job that I released them for now we have to make sure they can't use their powers. Oh and patch them up, the wounds aren't lethal but they may bleed out."
"Yes Captain." Bow said as she hurried forward with Dazu and a few other who knew first aid to make sure that the two men didn't die while Olive and Joanna found sea prism stone manacles that were kept in a storage locker in a corner just in case. "Dazu grab…"
"Daphne, can that Devil Fruit of yours be used for movement?" Nagant asked as Bow worked and gave orders as to what she needed. "That would make things a lot easier."
"No Captain, unfortunately it's only a fixed pocked dimension." Daphne said. "It can remain a long time but I can't move them yes, yes. Maybe Fiona's can."
"If they were dead I could but I can't store anyone who's living." Fione said shaking her head and trying not to look at the gore that was strewn all over the room. "It's a strange distinction with my power."
"Very well then everyone grab anything that you think we might need here and give it to Fiona store, we can sort it all out later." Nagant said. "I want to get anything useful now that we've got good Devil Fruits on the crew."
"Yes Captain." Daphne said as Robyn began to assess the room before telling Fiona what to grab and leaving her to it.
However, while Nagant noted what Robyn was doing, she was also looking around the room to try and figure out why there'd been a confrontation her. It took her a moment but finally she saw a pair of black boots that didn't fit with anything or anyone who should be here sticking out of a sparking terminal.
Intrigued, Nagant walked over to it and looked down in confusion at the man imbedded in it. Judging by the damage and how he was pretty wedged into the terminal he'd been driven into it with a lot of force but that was only the start of things.
That was because the man himself was odd to say the least, dressed in only ripped maroon shorts and black boots he was covered in bandages from the neck down that were now stained with slowly growing patched of red from clearly fresh wounds he'd suffered. Only his face and short black hair weren't bandaged and Nagant noted that he had gaudy green eye shadow and red lipstick on with mascara stains from his eyes as if he'd been crying recently.
"Captain." Robyn said approaching her from the side. "Fiona had finished collecting what Daphne and I have deemed useful and is now scouting ahead and it seems that the others are here but held up as well. Also, those two who you shot have been restrained and patched up with what we have so that they don't bleed out, Bow is really good it seems so great recruit there, but we can't move the big one and moving the other is risky given where you shot him."
"That's fine, I figured as much but don't worry, that gel woman can manage it I'm sure and Muscular's power is such that Rhya will want to copy it." Nagant said still looking at the man as she racked her brain to see if she recalled his face from any of the wanted posters she'd seen before she killed that Celestial Dragon. "Robyn, pick him up, we're bringing him with us."
"Er sure but do you know who he is?" Robyn asked looked at the man and not recognizing him before adding as it was a little unclear. "Er, she is? They are? Sorry, I'm not actually sure of that person's gender."
"He's male though he clearly doesn't abide by the constraints of gender so I doubt he'd be offended, and while I don't know him personally I think his name is Bentham." Nagant said as she spoke and recalled a similar looking man with the exact same garish makeup but not from a wanted poster but rather and employee file. "If I recall, he was a senior officer of the Bounty Hunter Guild Baroque Works."
"So who's side is he on then?" Robyn said. "I've heard of Baroque Works by reputation but they have no presence in the New World so I never ran into them."
"That's the thing, I have no idea what he's doing here I don't know but based on his attire and how he ended up in that terminal he's clearly no guard." Nagant said trying to figure it out as she had no clue that Baroque Works was no more as it was a front run by Crocodile. "If I had to guess he was stayed behind to open the gate for the escapees as they were clearly heading for Marineford and then closed and broke it. That's one hell of a sacrifice, I'll give him that. Well, it's his lucky day and I get a feeling that he might know Emporio Ivankov which could help us find your friend May."
"He's a brave man and if he can help me find May, or at least give me a lead as to where she might be, then he's coming with us." Robyn said as she carefully bent down and pulled the man out of the consol and hauled him over her shoulder. "He'll need healing though but that's not an issue."
"Whatever the case is with this guy, we'll sort it out later." Nagant said as she turned to the doorway and found Fiona approaching holding a baby transponder snail in her hand. "I see they've got some sense but then again you don't reach the level of a Warlord without at least a little sense."
"Yes, apparently someone called Mimic grabbed a few and so when I reached the entrance to the gates it was on the wall above a gash in it waiting for us." Fiona said as she handed it to Nagant. "Someone called Patry's on the other end of it and it's connected to one that this Mimic person is using."
"Patry is one of the ringleaders which is good and Mimic is one of Kai's henchmen who's got a useful Devil Fruit that no doubt gives him eyes on the outside which we'll need." Nagant said as she took it and walked to the door noting that the snail had Patry's tattoos around its eyes. "Patry, what's the situation?"
"We're holed up across from what has to be the generator room but there are two issues." Patry's voice came in over the snail. "The first is that there is corrosion in the main entranceway though it's not on the wooden dock on the other side. We have a solution to that; Sally's gel cab act as a barrier between us and it so long as it's thick enough but we can't coat the area until we deal with the second issue."
"And that is?" Nagant asked as she exited the generator room and walked down the passageway to the exit but pulling up just short of where the corrosion started.
"There's a Navy battleship docked, which is good as it saves us having to try and navigate the Calm Belt to get one of the ones further out, but there are people on it." Patry said. "We can't get them off it and they might reach before we can reach it."
"Do you have eyes on it?" Nagant asked as she knelt on the ground and rested against the wall so that she could look out and see the sunlight and see through the open doorway that she could just about make out from her position glad that someone had apparently ripped a door off its hinges. "Tell me the locations."
"Yeah that Mimic guy's in the wall of the entranceway, which has apparently been destroyed, and says that there are two marines in each top crow's nest and several more on the deck." Patry said as Nagant put the snail on the wall next to her but still in range and closed her eyes. "We can take the ship if we rushed it but we need the time to get the gel down. Time that they can use to get away and bombard us with cannons that might cause us to be hit by the corrosion."
"Right I can provide the distraction needed to lay down the gel and take out a few but I want something in exchange." Nagant said calmly as she prepared to push her Observation Haki to its limits. "I've got to use my Haki and the full extent of my Devil Fruit to pull this off so in exchange for causing confusion and killing many marines, I want that ship as my personal ship for the Rifle Pirates."
"Come again?" Patry asked surprise in his voice. "That's a battleship!"
"Yes and I once commanded one so I know how it works and frankly I want the mobility it provides." Nagant said. "And given my background it's fitting for my new crew to use one. I'll take you wherever you need to go, fix any damage caused to it, and do my part in the Vengeance Alliance we are about to form but I want that ship. As an added sweetener, we needed Rhya and that Sally girl to use gel to transport the wounded Muscular and Moonfish to the ship so Rhya can copy theirs and Magellan's Devil Fruits, he's out cold in the generator room thanks to Muscular though he may die soon, if he's not dead already, and his power is a useful one for your man to have."
"Fine." Patry said after a moment of no doubt whispered discussions while Nagant focused on her breathing and preparing her Haki. "None of us really need it and it is a bit ostentatious for us. That does mean that you're in charge of getting us out of the Calm Belt and taking us where we need to go in the South Blue once we're there and things are sorted out."
"Fine by me now sit back and watch why I was so feared." Nagant said as she ended the call.
Before Robyn who was with her, could ask Nagant raised her right arm and turned her palm to face her. Then her elbow seemed to open as it if was on a hinge and her arm flipped up as a long rifle with a wide muzzle slide out from her upper arm. At the same time a hole appeared in Nagant's palm and she raised her left hand to her hair and twisted it before she yanked off the specialized round she'd just made and which looked like a purple and pink swirl. She then, eyes still closed, inserted it into her palm to load it.
The moment that that the round was in Nagant activated her Observation Haki at its strongest and opened her eyes as a scope flipped out from her wrist. Her eyes were glowing red as she used her Haki and raised the scope to her right eye and fired through the doorway and into the sky outside of Impel Down.
The shot was loud, louder than any that Nagant had fired and made Robyn's ears ring as she winced at the sound. Plus it seemed like Nagant missed as she was firing into open air until the round suddenly curved once it was free of the Great Prison, that was the specific nature of the created round that Nagant had created, so that its trajectory was now the air above the battleship's mizzenmast's crow's nest right as the two marines there were in a line.
The two marines didn't have time to process it as the round reached the first one and tore through his head before continuing onto the second marine killing them instantly and dropping them into the crow's nest. Even before they'd fallen Nagant was already making a second round of the same type and loading it into her palm.
Her speed and accuracy, all raw talent aided only by her Observation Haki, was staggering as she fired off three more shots while a new voice, no doubt Mimic's narrated the results over the snail. He sounded stunned and awed as he reported that each shot took out both marines in the crows nests of the four masts with the last one falling out and to the deck.
Nagant had fired four shots and landed eight confirmed kills with only the last one being noticed thanks to the body falling to the deck. However that was deliberate as it was the distraction that was needed and as soon as the marine's body hit the deck with a spalt and the marines on the deck turned to it, pink gel shot out form across the entrance hall and covered the floor.
The gel was a good few inches thick and hardened as much as Sally could make it while Nagant returned her arm to normal and exhaled. As she did Patry leapt onto the gel a sword made of light in his hand and rushed out followed by the hulking form of Vetto with Kai, Jose and several phantoms, a brawny man that Nagant was pretty sure was called Kendo, and Aria to rush the ship. It was clear that their plan was go in with the heavy hitters first to clear it out.
"Rally and coordinate the crew Robyn." Nagant said as she got up and leapt onto the gel as she turned her forearms to guns once more and surprised at how firm the gel was. "Follow us in once the coast is clear but make sure that Sally and Rhya get those two monsters."
Robyn, who's jaw had almost hit the floor at the reports on Nagant's shooting, which she believed as she saw the bullets curve with her own eyes, could only nod at that as Nagant rushed in behind the others her forearms guns at the ready as she charged through the doorway to the jetty to the ship. The marines on it were stunned by the arrival of several prisoners and tried to raise their guns but a long spear of rock with Mimic in it shot out and slammed into them punching a hole in the deck and clearing the path for Patry to climb the gangplank as he lead the charge.
Despite the number advantages, the marines were outclassed by the Level 6 prisoners and some of their strongest combat based subordinates as they boarded the ship attacked with lethal force. There was no real need to focus as Nagant gunned down anyone she saw in a Navy uniform with precise shots to the head or heart as she moved over the deck while Patry skewered many with his Light-Light powers, Vetto ripped them apart or tossed them into the sea to be eaten by sea kings, Jose used his phantoms to kill, Kendo killed with every enhanced punch, and Kai turned the ship against them but returned it to normal when he was done.
It wasn't a battle, it was a slaughter and the marines were cut down as they appeared, the deck stained red and slick with their blood as Nagant moved through and the bodies that were strewn everywhere. It was as she was as she climbed the stairs to the top level of the aftercastle where the commander's quarters were that she ran into who was in charge of this ship. It wasn't hard as the man, a large, muscular man clearly in his prime with dark tanned skin, a chiseled jawline and shoulder length hair that ran along the back of his head burst out of the door with a roar a sword at his waist.
He wasn't wearing a shirt and only had his coat over his shoulders like any Navy officer would but Nagant recognized him at once as she raised her right arm. In her day he'd been a Commodore but it seemed that Nouken had been promoted to Rear or even Vice Admiral. No surprise, the man didn't care for civilian casualties if they got in the way of absolute justice so he'd committed plenty of heinous acts in his time and was known to travel with a harem of women that he purchased at slave auctions. Hopefully, they weren't here right now as he bellowed and turned to join the fight.
"What are you doing Magellan!" Nouken roared. "I was promised concubines from this place so get your ass out. You lost some inmates but that's it, you…"
He was cut off as he turned to see Nagant standing there in her blood splattered prison uniform her right arm raised and now a full rifle pointing at his head. The recognition was clear in his eyes as he saw her there.
"Vice Admiral Kaina?" Nouken asked confusion in his voice. "I thought that you were killed in action 5 years ago. What are you doing here?"
"Kaina is dead, I am Lady Nagant and you're on my new ship." Nagant said her voice ice cold. "Fitting, you are a bastard, Nouken. Goodbye."
With that Nagant fired before Nouken could even move for, let alone draw, his sword. The bullet slammed into his forehead and tossed his lifeless body to the deck where it landed with a thud as blood began to pool around the man's head his eyes wide and sightless in death.
Nagant ignored that as she walked forward and turned her arm back to normal. She paused in the doorway and looked into the commander's quarters noted that there weren't any women there so it would seem that Nouken would get some condemned prisoners to play with in exchange for being stationed here. Well they'd likely be on the ship but not in the way he wanted as Nagant turned and surveyed the damage that their attack had.
As she did the prisoners began to swarm onto the ship lead by the various crews. Apparently the ship had been cleared of enough marines for that. Nagant just watched as they rushed onto the ship before many of them began to toss the bodies over the edge to the waiting sea kings around Impel Down that were going to feast well tonight.
Nagant didn't smile but it was good to see that the escapees where helping clear her ship of the corpses on it. As she stood there, her recruits saw her and some of them broke off to come to her, most ignoring the death around them as what looked like 400 to 500 inmates flooded on celebrating their freedom and going into the bowels of the ship.
"Captain, what are your orders?" Robyn asked as she reached them leading the other Happy Huntresses who'd escaped and joined with her while Bow coordinated the infirmary with Dazu and the others from Clover and Daphne and Olive did their best to get out of everyone's way. "I heard the deal and relayed the news that this is your ship now so you're in charge."
"Have Joanna take the helm and then take Fiona down below decks to start the paddles so we can get out of her." Nagant said. "We move as soon as the last of the escapees reaches the ship. Also send the other Captains up here."
"On it." Robyn said and she vaulted over the railing to land on the deck with a thud and began barking orders while Joanna and Fiona followed her over the railing. "Hey! All escapees help clear the bodies and then find a place out of the way. We're moving as soon as everyone is free!"
It was certainly chaotic but many of the prisoners were just happy to be free of Impel Down and filled up the deck as Nagant watched. Thankfully, there was still some order and soon the prisoners had tasks like setting up an infirmary for any wounded like the man who Robyn had carried onto the ship at Nagant's orders and who had already been taken to the makeshift infirmary by two of the men who'd followed Dazu back on Clover the moment he was one the ship or finding the food and booze or a place to crash below decks.
As this was going on Patry, Kai, Jose, and William, who had dropped Gueldre and Revchi in the deck level of the forecastle which was where infirmary had been set up and where Bow was now working on the strange man that Nagant had found and a few others with minor injuries, pushed through and joined Nagant. As soon as they were there she turned to them.
"Is everyone on?" Nagant asked.
"Almost." Patry said as two blobs of gel were tossed onto the deck with a splat and showing that they contained the unconscious bodies of Muscular and Moonfish in them. "Rhya is the last to come. He said that Magellan was alive so he's copied his power as well which will serve my crew well."
"Good then as soon as he's on I'll give the order to set sail" Nagant said as she turned and walked through the ruined door and to a side table by the door where the intercom snail was kept for the commanding officer while ignoring the room for the moment before returning to the deck holding the snail in her arms. "Ah just in time."
As she exited Sally and then Rhya were the last two on and there was nothing behind him. With that Nagant placed the snail on the railing mouth facing the deck below, pulled the speaker out of its shell which woke it up, and raised the speaker to her mouth and spoke into it so that her orders could reach Joanna.
"Joanna, pull the lever to the side of the helm." Nagant said her voice projected by the snail and loud enough to silence any chatter and get all attention on her. "It will start the paddles then circle around Impel Down and head due south. We sail for the South Blue and freedom!"
Nagant didn't hear the response but she saw Joanna do as ordered and there was a shuddering sound and the paddles extended. A moment later the ship lurched forward and began to sail as the collective mass of inmates let out a massive cheer at their successful escape.
With the other ships still at the Gates of Justice and stunned that Straw Hat Luffy had escaped, and that the Gates had closed before they could sail through them and were now not opening for some reason, they didn't notice until it was too late that the ship sent for Magellan to use to pursue Straw Hat had left the prison dock. However, rather than join the other ships that were right in front of Gates, it had stayed in the Calm Belt and circled the great prison and begun to head south to the South Blue.
By the time they did notice the ship had already disappeared over the horizon and was uncatchable. With it were 500 escapees from all 6 levels including some of the worst of the worst in Level 6 bringing the total number of confirmed Impel Down escapees up from 242 to 742 in a single fell swoop and almost right after the 240 bump had managed to clear the Gates of Justice enroute to Marineford.
It was not a great day for Impel Down and it was still only half done with the breakout waves that would rock the Great Prison. None of the current ship knew this, however, as they sailed to freedom and began to prepare an alliance that would affect the world in years to come.
Well there it is, the second wave has officially broken out of Impel Down and are now on their way to freedom and the start of their own plans which will affect this story going forward. As you can tell, this second wave allowed for one major canon change and that is that Bon Clay's sacrifice meant that he was in Nagant's path and she decided to take him with her so he's also been freed and there will be more on that in time. For those wondering or confused, Spear is a canon Akame ga Kill character who appeared at the start of episode 7 when the Three Beasts were sent to kill her father and blame it on Night Raid. She was defeated but only wounded so the short demon guy skinned her face off and she died of shock. Naturally, that's been changed but that is who she is and now she's part of Nagant's crew as the final senior officer and the Akame ga Kill representative on it. Also Nouken was a General in Akame ga Kill who only appeared in the manga and was killed by Akame so he was a useful and disposable marine to have for that scene that ensured I didn't need to create an OC for it. The last thing to note is that one of the dead bodies in the generator room that was killed by Muscular is Shishikura's father, that will be relevant in time. That is all that I really have for y'all after this chapter, next up is the final chapter in the Impel Down arc which will wrap it up before we shift back to Marineford and the action there. As such I will leave this chapter off here. If you liked this please favorite, follow, leave a review, or let me know in a PM and if there are any questions will posed in reviews and PMs I will try to answer them as best I can. Until next time.
