In Skye's room in the Zaizen Residence...
Ai had been explaining everything to her about how Yusaku was part of an incident that was likely connected to the Knights of Hanoi where six children were kidnapped and tortured for six months where they were forced to duel and if they lost they got electrocuted and starved. How it was only because of a mysterious voice telling him to remember three things which became a way of thinking that Yusaku used to help himself get through difficult situations, and how he spent years trying to find out who was behind the incident and why. The fact that the Phantom Thieves themselves arrived in Den City and managed to help Yusaku get past his intense anger and desire for revenge and now were helping him try and figure out what was really going on, and how the Hanoi somehow tricked Skye into infecting him with a virus and that the only way to save his life was if Skye was able to help somehow.
"... Oh, but you can't let your brother know about me. I know it doesn't make sense but we can't trust him... yet." Ai finished.
"So... now it's up to me to help him?" Skye asked hearing that.
"Exactly." Ai confirmed. "Though, first we need to figure out how the Hanoi managed to give you a... oh glitch! Everyone saw you infect Playmaker with a virus, they must think you're working with them!"
Skye widen her eyes at that, "Didn't they know it was unintentional?"
"How should I know? All they would have seen is you challenged Playmaker to a duel, beat him in a single turn and then your Duel Disk started acting up and he lost consciousness falling to the ground not moving. It definitely doesn't look good at the very least." Ai told her. "How did you even get a Hanoi program in the first place?"
"I don't know how I did-" Skye started only to pause realizing something, "Oh, so that is why he was there earlier!"
"Huh, what are you talking about?" Ai asked. "Why who was where?"
"Before me, and him dueled each other, I was encountered by a Knight of Hanoi while I was waiting. He said he was a fan of mine, and came to wish me luck, and a gift." Skye answered him while looking angered, "I should've known that gift was some kind of virus they were planning to use!"
"That explains..." Ai started before they heard the front door open as Ai's eye widened before he went silent.
Hearing the door Skye looked over straightening herself.
"Skye, come here." Akira's voice called and he sounded unhappy.
Meanwhile at Cafe Nom...
"Agh! That virus that happened is preventing me from logging Yusaku out, and Ai is gone!" Cal grunted out announcing to the Phantom Thieves frustrated.
"Blue Angel was a member of the Hanoi?" Ryuji asked. "That doesn't make any sense, she was nothing like those guys Akira and Yusaku dueled before."
"Hiding in plain sight, and if she was involved her brother might be a member too." Futaba pointed out. "All of SOL Technologies could be supporting them behind the scenes."
"I don't want to believe it, but things do seem to be pointing towards that possibility." Makoto frowned. "It would hardly be the first time something like that's happened either."
"How could we not figure that out earlier?" Ann asked confused, "I mean her brother's Palace didn't display anything with the Hanoi."
"It was focused on keeping his sister safe." Yusuke answered. "Likely his loyalty to them is second to his desire to protect his sister."
"So what do we do now? Our way to get the Hanoi is gone, and now Yusaku's out of commission for a while." Zenkichi said over to them.
Suddenly Axis pinged on Akira's Duel Disk. "Kurusu-san please allow me to be placed for me to speak to everyone."
Blinking he put his Duel Disk on the table. "What is it?"
They looked as Axis said over to them, "Everyone I know what it looked and seemed like but let me assure you all Blue Angel, and Zaizen are NOT allied with the Hanoi."
"I'd like to believe that that, but what other explanation is there?" Morgana asked.
"I detected something in Link VRAINS before Blue Angel's duel with Playmaker began." Axis said over to them. "A different signature was near Blue Angel, and something had been forced into Blue Angel's Deck."
"Are you sure?" Cal questioned.
"I had cross-referenced her Deck with all the cards she had played into the past, and I had detected her Deck against Playmaker included a card she had no history with." Axis let up a hologram for them to see.

"Dark Angel, that doesn't sound like the other cards she was playing." Makoto admitted.
"So then... some creep put that thing in her deck? But why, I mean she obviously didn't need it to win the duel right?" Ryuji asked Axis. "What's going on around here?"
"... That card must be a virus, triggered by running out of life points." Futaba answered. "If the entire game was a program it wouldn't be difficult to create a virus that triggers when a certain condition is met."
"I think the person who knows the answers is Blue Angel. We should meet up with her, and talk to her about this." Kuon suggested over to them.
"How are we supposed to do that? We can't exactly go to her house and ask to talk to her and if her brother saw that duel he won't let her into Link VRAINS again." Ryuji pointed out. "How the hell are we supposed to find her?"
"Well that be the tricky part." Kuon admitted over to them.
"And I can't even use my connections to the police to ask to question her, even using law enforcement has it's limits, and her brother will be suspicious about it." Zenkichi agreed shaking his head.
"So what are we suppose to do then? Wait?" Haru asked hearing that.
Cal sighed frustrated but takes a breath. "At this point that might be the only other option we have. We don't got any other option to work with."
"What do you mean?" Akira asked. "What's our option?"
"She just said it." Cal reminded him.
"Wait, but what about Yusaku?" Ann asked nervously.
"Well there isn't anything else we can do for him." Cal said grumbling, "I wish we have another option but-"
Axis suddenly pinged. "I detected something!"
(Cue Theme: Tension)
Sophia's eyes narrowed. "I agree, there's a very strange smell."
"What? What did you detect?" Akane asked surprised.
Axis focused over before then saying, "Another signature like a Hanoi, except this one is much stronger... stronger then even the Knight of Hanoi that Joker defeated with my aid."
"Even stronger?" Haru asked shocked.
"Can you show us?" Morgana asked.
"I'll try."
Axis projected a holographic image of what it detected.
It was a Knight of Hanoi that looks much different. It is a tan-skinned man with yellow eyes without irises or pupils, and black hair with orange and red highlights. His ears are pierced with Egyptian-style earrings with a blue diamond and a gold bullet "token" while wearing a mask with yellow glass and a white casing with a diamond-shaped pattern of white dots with red centers, linked together by a white circle that surrounds a white dot in the center of is forehead that suggests the barrel of a gun.
"He certainly exudes an aura of confidence." Yusuke noted while Futaba frowned.
"Cal, send me in." she mentioned.
"Wha-Are you sure Futaba?" Cal asked her surprised.
"Yeah, I know I shouldn't blame myself but I wasn't able to help us get through the palace before, and when you really think about it that virus was probably a computer program which is right up my alley." Futaba nodded. "Plus, worst case scenario I'll use your escape route unlike Ryuji."
"I'll head in with you in case the Knight of Hanoi sees you." Axis said before transferred over to Futaba's Duel Disk.
"Thanks." Futaba nodded before taking a slow breath and walking into the chamber. "Ok, here goes nothing. Into the VRAINS!"
Earlier...
(Cue Theme: Disquiet)
The masked man that had spoke to the gray haired Knight of Hanoi along with a man in a scientist robe were watching the duel as the virus shocked out Playmaker, "As intended the virus to capture the DARK Ignis was deployed father."
"True, which means we've nearly achieved our goals." the scientist noted before pausing. "Wait, something's wrong. Run a scan of his avatar."
Hearing that the masked man typed in a holographic keyboard as it run a scan throughout the avatar only for it to come out negative which caught the two off-guard as the masked man asked, "What? The DARK Ignis is gone?"
"How is that... wait could it be?" the scientist questioned. "Dr. Genome."
Hearing that Dr. Genome who was there typed in to check over.
"You dueled the supposed leader of the Phantom Thieves correct?" the scientist asked him.
"Yes I have." Dr. Genome confirmed over with a nod.
"In other words the Ignis may be with one of them." the scientist frowned.
The masked man sneered from this. "Of course, the Phantom Thieves, they are allied with Playmaker." He turned turned over. "I'm heading in to finish this."
"Be cautious, we both know what they're capable of." the scientist pointed out before frowning.
"I will father." the masked man nodded turning away, and walked before vanishing in data.
"If we know Varis sir, he would definitely succeed in this. But are you also getting a feeling that something is odd?" Dr. Genome asked the scientist.
"What do you mean?" the scientist asked him.
"Just a feeling sir that something is about to happen." Dr. Genome answered.
The scientist frowned. "I know, but for now all we can do is wait and see how things progress."
In Link VRAINS...
Futaba meanwhile having entered Link VRAINS had summoned a sleek black board shaped as her Tier 1 Persona Necronomicon flew around Link VRAINS with Axis in her Duel Disk.
"Do you think you can lead me to that guy?" Oracle asked Axis.
"Gotcha, and be careful he's more dangerous then anything else." Axis said over to her before it's face formed an arrow pointing to the direction forward.
"Somehow that doesn't surprise me." Oracle admitted following the arrow.
After a minute of following the arrow she notices something at the top of a building.
"That must be him, well here goes nothing." Oracle whispered racing to the building before stopping next to it as she jumped onto the roof.
She sees the back of someone before it turned around revealing it was both the masked man, and the Knight of Hanoi displayed by Axis. Oracle flinched. "I'm guessing you're Hanoi?"
"So your the next of the Phantom Thieves that comes." the Knight said staring at Oracle examining her. "To answer your question, you'd be correct. My name is Varis, the leader of the Knights of Hanoi."
"The... then you have the antivirus program." Oracle realized before pausing. "And can you stop staring, I know this thing's skintight. You're worse than Inari."
While Varis did blink for a second off-guard he then looked serious again, "I was only viewing over to see you have the DARK Ignis."
'The DARK... he must mean Ai.' Oracle thought before pausing. "You want him, you'll have to earn him."
"Be careful, Oracle, Varis is someone who has the power to destroy Link VRAINS should he wish it." Axis said over to her.
Hearing it's voice Varis' eyes narrowed, "So you hold an AI. Not an Ignis, I can tell, but something much more then a household AI."
Oracle frowned hearing that.
"Very well then, you bring me the DARK Ignis if I win over you." Varis said over to her. "However should YOU win what would I do for you?"
"Well... you give me the anti-virus for Playmaker, and tell me, and my friends about if your involved with the Lost Incident!" Oracle said over to him.
Hearing that Varis narrowed his eyes. "The Lost Incident... I had been told Playmaker had been asking some of our lesser Knights about it." He soon gave a nod. "It's a deal then!"
Oracle nodded before she jumped back on her Duel Board. Varis at that jumped on his which was a large white board with golden linings on it.
"Looks like there about to start." Cal said over to the Phantom Thieves seeing this before the computers turned to static, "Oh what!? Something cut us off!"
"What? But what about Futaba?" Ann asked nervously. "Can't you fix it?"
"I'll try but it'll-!"
Suddenly one screen lit up as they turned seeing a pink haired woman wearing a black face mask, and suit winking to them before turning over where the duel is nearby.
"What the, who was that?" Ryuji questioned.
"I don't know but she doesn't seem like a bad guy." Zenkichi admitted seeing her, "Right now let's spectate how Oracle can deal against this guy?" He then turned over, "So... Varis is that his name?"
"Yeah, the Hanoi's leader." Cal confirmed with a nod. "Guess it makes sense the strongest member of the Hanoi be there leader." He then asked the Thieves, "How tough is Oracle within the Metaverse?"
"She's not a fighter, she's our support." Makoto answered.
They turned back over.
In Link VRAINS...
Oracle, and Varis flew down the streets as he smirked calling, "I'll create a fitting stage for our battle!" He waved his arm as an earthquake happened where lava pours in from cracks, and buildings are being destroyed before he called, "And now let the hellish duel begin!"
Oracle's eyes widened behind her goggles looking around. "Are you nuts, we could end up cooked if we fall into that!"
"Then you better not fall in." Varis said over to her with a smirk.
"Don't worry Oracle unlike the Palace Raids anything outside of them has no effect on you." Axis said over to her. "So if you do fall in, it doesn't do anything to you."
She let out a small sigh of relief hearing that before turning to Varis. "So, I'm guessing you're not the lady's first kind of guy?"
"I'll be going on first." he answered simply.
Oracle frowned but nodded. "Fine, after you then."
"SPEED DUEL!"

Oracle blinked as two tokens appeared on her field. "Why would you give me..."

Her eyes suddenly widened. "Wait, that's what lets your dragon deal damage!"
"Glad to know you remember! Cracking Dragon's effect activates!" Varis raised his arm as his dragon flew behind him facing the field. "Whenever you summon 1 monster, Cracking Dragon lowers your monster's attack points by 200 equal to it's level, and you take damage equal to how many attack points it lost! Crack Fall!"
Cracking Dragon blown strong winds at Oracle's field. Oracle cried out bracing herself from the winds.

"Hopefully." she mentioned drawing her cards before looking. "Ok, let's try this to start. I play the spell Glossary of the Forbidden Tome!"

"Hm?" Varis looked at the spell never hearing of it.
"This spell lets me check the three cards on top of my deck and put them back in whatever order I want." Oracle explained looking at the cards. "Ok, the second on the bottom, then the first, and the third one on the top."
Axis checked over the cards she is seeing.
She put a field spell called "Chamber of the Forbidden Tome" on top of her deck, followed by a monster called "Scribe of the Forbidden Tome" and a second monster named "Interpreter of the Forbidden Tome" underneath that card.
"Even if you know what your next cards were they won't make a difference." Varis said over to her.
"I don't know they might. Especially when I sacrifice one of the tokens you gave me for Guardian of the Forbidden Tome."
From her summoning a golem made out of pure black stones appeared on the field.

"Next, I'll use Guardian's ability. I draw a card and if it happens to be a Forbidden Tome he gains 500 attack and defense points. If not the card goes to my graveyard." Oracle continued drawing. "But you probably already guessed it's a Forbidden Tome."

"Even if it gains attack points it's faulty compared to Cracking Dragon's." Varis stated over to her.
"I noticed." Oracle pointed out. "I set two cards and end my turn."

The three flew up entering the top, bottom-right, and bottom-left arrows.

"I don't know, but I don't want to find out." Oracle admitted. "I play my trap, Unsealing the Forbidden Tome!"

"While you do that I have a special ability of my own." Varis said to her, "When Triggering Wurm is used to Link Summon a Dark Attribute Monster, it's summoned again from the graveyard to a zone that monster points too only it can't be used to Link Summon."

Oracle frowned seeing that as she looked at Axis. "So, is his worm negated or not?"
"No it isn't but even if it is he can't use it to Link Summon." Axis explained over to her.
"That's a relief." she admitted.
"Even with Borrelcode's abilities negated your still open. Borrelcode Dragon attack Guardian of the Forbidden Tome!" Borrelcode charged a blast firing it at Guardian.
Oracle braced herself as her monster shattered.

"Are you okay Oracle?" Axis asked her.
"I think so." Oracle nodded before smiling. "It's time I bring out Necronomicon."
Hearing that name Varis raised an eyebrow confused.
"It's thanks to my other facedown card, Pulling the Mask!" Oracle grinned. "Since I have less life points than you I can use this to summon Hermit Persona Necronomicon in defense position and it can't be destroyed in battle."

"So now you can know what you can draw next." Axis said hearing that.
"Yup." Oracle nodded.
Varis looked over, and views his options. 'Right now my hand is empty, and with Borrelcode's ability negated, I can't use it for Triggering Wurm. But I still hold the advantage.'
He flew forward saying to her, "I end my turn."
"I play Necronomicon's ability, during the end phase I draw one card." Oracle mentioned drawing.

Varis just watched calmly.
Futaba looked before calling, "And I summon Interpreter of the Forbidden Tome!"
At that what rose was a small shaman like man wearing a black cloak.

Necronomicon turned to 7 rings while the Dragonoid Token flew up turning to 1 star.

Varis raised an eyebrow.
"So now say hi to Level 8! Hermit Persona Prometheus!"
What rose up was a large sphere with multicolored lines around it almost like a face.

"Well that's cause, I got a handy effect!" Oracle shows a card, "And it's called Chamber of the Forbidden Tome!"
At that the card appeared as a small transparent area of a small fiendish library chamber appeared around before vanishing.

Varis looked around before Oracle called, "And get this since I have a Forbidden Tome on my field that's weaker then one of your monsters, I can draw a card!" Oracle drew before holding her hand of 4 cards. "Then your monster with the highest attack points loses 300 of them for every card in my hand!"

"Then Prometheus gains the same amount!"
Prometheus: (ATK: 1000 + (300 * 4) = 2200)
"Whoa, she's doing really well." Ann mentioned watching the match.
"What do you expect from our Oracle?" Morgana grinned.
"And now Prometheus take a bite out of that dragon!"
Prometheus charged an attack firing at Borrelcode destroying it while Varis stumbled on his Duel Board. (Varis: 2100/Hand: 0)
"Then I use the Quick-Play, Reading the Forbidden Tome!" Oracle called.

"So now your dealt damage equal to your dragon's points!" Oracle pointed at Varis who stared calmly as the spell fired the blast.

"So close." Ryuji frowned.
"You almost got him Oracle but you got him on his knees." Axis said over to her.
She nodded but has a frown, "I end my turn."

Varis slowly stood up before she turned to Oracle confident, "Destiny says you fall this turn."
"Destiny huh, sorry but I make my own destiny." Oracle told him.
"Well I also make my own, and shape yours." Varis drew, and called, "And I activate Monster Reborn!"

Axis narrowed it's eyes from this. "Is he planning Cracking Dragon's level reduction effect? It won't work when your monsters have no points so what's he up too?"
Varis only smirked before he raised his hand, "I can hear the voices of data from the distance... your waiting for me to capture you..." He moved his hand forward, "Come Data Storm!"
At that a wave of pure data formed in front of them charging over.
"Wait what?" Oracle questioned seeing that.
"That... but that's Yusaku's skill!" Cal cried staring at the screen.
"Phantom Thieves, your comrade is not the only one to have this Skill!" Varis moved entering the data wave enveloping him as he raised a hand, "I activate my Skill! When I have 1000 or fewer Life Points, I take 1 random Cyberse from the Data Storm to my Extra Deck! The new breath resides in my hand!" A large aspiration of a large monster moved through the storm roaring, "Come Neo Storm Access!"

Can be used if your LP are at 1000 or below. Add 1 randomly generated Cyberse monster well-suited to your Deck from a nearby Data Storm to your Extra Deck.
The monster flew in his hand forming a card as he smirked, "This new power is good..." He moved jumping out of the Data Storm on his board.
"This is bad." Akira frowned. "Cal, send me in."
"Right!" Cal nodded typing in before a hand takes Akira's shoulder.
Feeling it he turned. It was Akechi who was looking at him, "I'm heading in with you Akira. But he's mine when we duel."
"Alright, but be careful." Akira mentioned.
Akechi nodded as they both armed themselves to enter Link VRAINS.
"I activate Borrelcode Dragon's ability in the graveyard!" Varis called as Borrelcode's card vanished, "I banish this card, and 1 DARK monster with 3000 or more points!"
Cracking Dragon vanished as Varis smirked, "In it's place I summon a Topologic Link monster from my Extra Deck or graveyard!"
"Topologic?" Axis asked hearing that.
"Manifest!"
Something materialized from the Extra Monster Zone as a large brown dragon like cybernetic monster that has green orbs for eyes, and connected tails having short wings, and a bulgy body powering up.
"Topologic Bomber Dragon!" the new monster roared loud which displayed it's power.

Oracle's eyes widened in shock seeing the monster. "What the?"
"He fights Cyberse but he is using Cyberse?" Axis asked seeing the monster's type.
"It's fun to counter poison with poison." Varis smirked from this before calling, "And now Dragonoid Generator's effect!"
A Dragonoid Token popped on his field.

"Bomber Dragon's effect activates!" Bomber Dragon turned as it's wings turned on glowing dangerously, "When a monster is Special Summoned next to it's link EVERY monster in our Main Monster Zones is destroyed!"
"What!?" Oracle asked shocked.
"Full Overlap!"
With that Bomber Dragon let out destructive waves around both his, and Oracle's field destroying Triggering Wurm, Dragonoid Token, and Interpreter of the Forbidden Tome leaving just itself, and Prometheus on the field.
"No way!" Oracle cried in shock.
"And now for the finish! Bomber Dragon attack Prometheus! Ultimate Malicious Code!"
Bomber Dragon charged a big blast as Oracle looked at her, 'Dangit, I got nothing here!' She then realized, 'Well... ALMOST nothing!' Oracle then called, "I activate my Skill, Ultimate Support!"
At that holographic keyboards appear that she starts typing on them.

If an opponent's monster declares an attack: Draw 1 card. Activate one of the following effects depending on the card you've drawn:
● Monster: Negate the attack, then Special Summon that monster.
● Spell: The attacking monster's ATK/DEF becomes 0, also both players take the damage from that battle.
● Trap: Destroy the attacking monster, then inflict 1000 damage to both players.
This Skill can be used once per duel.
"What good will that do you?" Varis questioned.
"I draw a card, and an effect goes off by what I draw!" Oracle drew, and looked showing a spell, "It's a spell so now your big monster loses all it's precious attack points!"
"What!?" Varis asked shocked.
Topologic Bomber Dragon: (ATK: 3000 - 3000 = 0)
"The catch is... I also take damage from this battle." Oracle revealed a drawback.
"Wait, but that means a tie?" Yusuke questioned seeing that.
Bomber Dragon fired a blast which was absorbed by Prometheus who fired the blast back destroying Bomber Dragon which made Oracle, and Varis' boards tipped.

bopdog111: Well it was intended that we do the Master Duel in the same chapter after the Speed Duel but due to some problems we are having we are ending this chapter before the Master Duel.
