Chapter 3: The day things started to make sense
Staring at the locker door in my hand really made me question life. I had tempted fate when the door got stuck and fate took the bait and fucked me over in the process, and today was going so well. I had four classes, each around 75 minutes with an hour lunch in the middle, all in all it wasn't so bad compared to my old highschool. My first class was with Doctor Oliver (he asked me to start calling him that while at school so that we didn't draw attention to ourselves) and I was seated next to Kira who gave me an odd look which made me die inside a little. My other classes were better overall and when we broke for lunch is when the incident happened. I went to put some of my books into my locker, I undid the lock and tried to open the door which didn't budge, I then pulled harder which caused the locker door to be torn off its hinges. Well at least I didn't do it in front of a teacher. I then felt a rough hand on shoulder, I turned around and I was right. I didn't do it in front of a teacher, I did it in front of the principal, which is how I got detention for a week, which is the longest I've had detention for as well as it being the first time I got detention, ever, this is gonna be horrible.
I take it back, detention is pretty nice, after a 30 minute ride into the countryside for a natural history museum tour with Doctor Oliver (I'm gonna call him that even out of school because I'm a menace), Conner, Ethan and Kira. Kid me would have been freaking out but luckily I'm much more calm than that now. While I was thinking about my elementary school days, we must have reached the museum judging by Ethan's exclamation of.
"Check out the T-rex!" which still looked goofy but actually looked real which makes sense because this world isn't fiction but a world that resembles a fictitious one, I think. Before I could go deeper down that rabbit hole I hopped out the car and walked with everyone to the museum which was closed, maaan.
"Oh well, no museum for us", which came from Connor with all of the emotion of a house plant.
"Great! let's go home", said Kira with thinly veiled excitement.
Turning towards us, Doctor Oliver said to search the museum grounds for anything prehistoric and if we found something, no detention for the rest of the week which was obviously appealing to everybody, while we were doing that he was gonna look for somebody who would be able to confirm when the museum would be opening up.
As we were walking around the forest looking for fossils and the like, Ethan spoke up.
"Hey did you guys hear about the guy who fell into a sinkhole around here?"
Kira's answer to that was "Must've missed that one".
Ethan and Connor then began to bicker after Connor made a snide comment about computer club when Ethan mentioned urban legend websites whilst Kira seemed entirely done with the both of them, I mostly tuned it out when Ethan said.
"Fine, but don't come crying to me when you fall into a sinkhole!", and like the ground waiting for a signal it gave way and we all fell.
The others took a while to get up since we fell about 4 meters, but I was just disoriented (cyborg enhancements for the win) I helped the others get up and looked around the hole, the walls were mostly flat with small grooves along the surface, you would have to be a professional rock climber to get out of here. Around five minutes had passed when Connor told us to stay here whilst he climbed out and called for help, he didn't even get halfway up when the rock gave way and he fell.
"That was fast" was Ethan's remark whilst Him, Kira, and I helped him up.
We started to explore the cave we found ourselves in hoping to find a way out somewhere along the way, let me tell you it was darker then they made it out to be on the show.
At least I got to listen to Kira's singing, which is top tier and I can definitely see her becoming a megastar like in the future if she plays her cards right.
"Can you keep it down babe, I'm trying to focus." Wallahi I never wanted to smack a man more in my life. Kira who was obviously mad turned to me and Ethan.
"Did he just call me babe?"
"I dunno, I was grooving out to your tunes" was Ethan's reply whereas mine was a simple shoulder shrug. She then went to Connor and began to berate him, saying…
"Listen my name is Kira, so why don't you write it on your hand so you can remember it." before storming ahead, a stunned Connor, Ethan and I following soon after.
We then found ourselves in front of an exposed dinosaur fossil, which if I remember correctly was how you got into the room with Dino Gems. The fossil itself looked like a Stegosaurus but had sharp teeth and the head more closely resembled an Iguanodon which means it was probably fake, god I've been spending too much time with Tom- Dr Oliver.
"This definitely looks like something out of Jurassic Park," said Kira, bringing me back to reality and reminding me that holy shit I'm gonna see the Power Rangers get their powers in person!
"Well whatever it is, it's gonna get us out of detention for life" was Connor's reply before tugging on the jaw of the faux fossil.
"Are you sure that's a good-", Kira asked before she was cut off by the jaw of the fossil dropping and causing some machinery to come to life in order to open the stone door in front of us.
When the door fully opened, It revealed a high-tech yet ancient room reminiscent of the Dino-Lab underneath Tomm- you know what fuck it, Tommy's House.
"Whoa, I could definitely shoot a music video here…" was Kira's astonished remark.
"This sure beats computer club, huh", which was Connor's jab at Ethan.
"Normally I would be mad if you weren't totally right!'" which was Ethan's response at said jab.
"Trippy" was my intelligent reply, we all looked around for a couple moments before Ethan addressed the three Dino Gems atop the rocky pedestal
"Woah… Check out the rocks".
Connor tried to pick up the Red Dino Gem, but was stopped by Ethan, saying…
"Whoa isn't this taking the meathead athlete act a little too far, I mean have you not seen a sci-fi movie in your life?". To which Connor replied…
"Look, I have sat through way too many lame science classes to know that these things look prehistoric and I don't wanna miss soccer practice."
"To be honest I kinda agree with him, not that I want to but I already missed one rehearsal, I'm not missing another one." which Kira said, adding on to what Connor said.
Sighing and turning to me, Ethan began to say something before I cut him off, saying…
"Dude I'm not gonna pick up that rock, that's all you. I'll just find a grasshopper or something, they're ironically older than grass so I think that counts as prehistoric." I gave myself a mental pat on the back for that quick response.
Groaning, Ethan with the others picked up the Dino Gems which began to glow for a few moments before the glow died down. Ethan, Kira and Connor examined their respective Dino Gems since they don't exactly know what they are yet.
"I'll try and find something about these on the web" was Ethan's eventual reply, which got Connor to throw yet another dig at Ethan for liking technology. I honestly can't wait for him to eat his words in about 20 years, assuming I found a way to travel freely between universes by then.
"Look I don't know who built this place but I really don't want to be here when they come back." I admit it, I almost lost it when she said that, man I cannot wait to tell Tommy.
Which could wait since it's now asskickin' time baby. It seems Dino Face sent the Tyrannodrones after the Dino Gems like in the show buuut unlike the show it seems he sent a dozen more, oh well more for me. However it seemed the others had different plans judging by the way Ethan yelled out "RUN" while I tried to punch one in the face. It did not go well, because despite hitting it full force, it was barely affected, only taking a few steps back before rushing me, which caused me to run. They were hot on my tail, almost getting a few swipes in but I narrowly avoided them. While I was running from them I thought that I really needed something to help me fight them, which is when I felt my waist get suddenly heavier. I checked behind me if the Tyrannodrones were still hot on my heels, when I saw that they were gone I looked down and saw… The Typhoon? Wait a minute… Cybernetics, Unknown DNA and the Typhoon. Well if the shoe fits, might as well do the thing to really confirm it though.
"Rider… Henshin!"
After that everything was a blur, it felt like someone else was in control of my actions while I took a backseat. A few of the Tyrannodrones did find me again and when I hit one of them this time instead of being somewhat unaffected, it died instantly and the others went with it with a series of punches and kicks. After that… Massacre it felt like I got control of my body back. I then leaped up onto one of the trees to try and scout the area but it looked like the others took care of the other Tyrannodrones but before I could leap down it seemed like Ethan caught a glimpse of me.
Wellll I was gonna have to explain this eventually and it looks like I have no other choice.
After finagling with the belt for a while I found the button that de-transformed me back into my normal civilian clothing. I eventually re-grouped with the others and the first thing out of their mouths were different versions of "Are you okay?" to which I reassured them that, yes I was fine but what came out of Ethan's mouth next was kinda shocking.
"Okay we need to find Doctor Oliver because I do not want to be in the same woods as that Red-Eyed Monster". We asked him what he was talking about and he then began to describe a dark creature with glowing red eyes up in the treetops. Kira and Connor thought he was messing with us. I decided to keep my mouth shut for now and wait for Tommy. Luckily a few moments later Tommy showed up asking if anything strange happened to which the reply was no, since the others couldn't trust him right now while I just went along with it, I'll just tell him later.
We found ourselves back at school after a very silent drive back from the museum. We began discussing what happened in the forest, more specifically that we shouldn't mention this to anybody (I was gonna tell Tommy as soon as we went to his home). Kira ended up giving me Dino Gem instead of Connor but I think it was because I was closer to her then the others and I suddenly remembered that something bad was gonna happen soon. I quickly caught up to her with what she said next being…
"Look I told you guys that I'm not interested in this stuff" was her frustrated statement.
"Nah I just wanted to apologise for-"
I began to say before a sudden swarm of Tyrannodrones surrounded us and began to close in.
"For what I'm about to do next", I then proceeded to hand her the Dino Gem, pick her up and throw her towards Ethan and Connor, who caught her but it was the last thing I saw before being grabbed and teleported away.
"Dude your breath stinks! " was the first thing I said to the Lizard-man himself, Mesogog.
