Ulrich362: True, but just who is Ryoken? Not to mention what the inner circle at SOL is planning. Especially after what Zaizen did. Oh and apologies for taking a while to update this.

bopdog111: The next Palace is the one I'm most excited about.

Ulrich362: It's definitely going to be... an interesting one... though we haven't quite gotten to it yet. As we said, there are some issues to address first including a tower.

It been a few days since the Change of Heart, and right now the Phantom Thieves are with Cafe Nom discussing over the aftermath of the change of heart wondering what's gonna happen now. They haven't been told what happened from Skye yet as Zaizen needed to recover before then.

"How do you guys think he's doing?" Kolter asked the thieves.

"Still hoping he be alright... this probably would cost him his job." Ann admitted over.

"Well nothing we can do now." Akechi shrugged over with crossed arms. "We can work something out, and if we didn't stop him, he would never let Skye be free."

They looked over seeing Yusaku, and Skye walking over together as Makoto raised up. "So how is your brother?"

"He's... gonna head back later today. He gotten a notification of a important meeting." Skye admitted.

"Hopefully we didn't cost him his job." Ryuji frowned.

"I'm sorry, that wasn't our intention." Sophia apologized to Skye.

That made the girl shake her head. "Don't worry... SOL Technologies is bad for him anyway."

"That's true, still what can he do if he gets fired?" Yusuke inquired.

Skye frowned shrugging at that not sure what to do now on it.

"He can help around Cafe Nom." Kolter brought up smiling.

"Right..." Akechi rolled his eyes. "Though we should think about this Ryoken Kogami."

They nodded from this wondering who the guy is. But Yusaku looked thinking about it... Ryoken Kogami, Ryoken Kogami... there is something familiar about that name, he just can't place his finger on it. He wondered why it sounds like something he knows, maybe a friend in the past, or someone he had met once before? But then a memory played in his head.


Flashback...

It was sunset where a younger Yusaku is running with a smile after a long day of fun of dueling heading back home. As he turned a corner he sees someone was walking in his path making them both collide scattering there Decks while they collapse.

"Agh! Owie..." Yusaku groaned sitting up seeing the cards, and kid. "Sorry, didn't see you."

"It was my fault." the boy mentioned only to blink. "Huh, you're a duelist?"

"Yeah." Yusaku gathered the cards separating them from his, and the other boys before smiling over to the boy seeing it's a tanned skinned boy with gray hair with red highlights. "So you like to duel too?"

"Yeah, I do." the boy smiled. "Oh, do you want to see my house? Maybe we can duel?"

"Yeah!" Yusaku smiled over before then blinking. "Oh sorry, I'm suppose to introduce myself first. I'm Yusaku Fujiki!" As he said that he hands the boy's scattered cards to him.

"My name's Ryoken Kogami, it's nice to meet you Yusaku." the boy smiled taking his cards while giving Yuskau his and offering a hand.

Yusaku takes his hand smiling shaking. After that, Yusaku finally found himself within the Lost Incident the past that scarred him deep.

Yusaku narrowed his eyes recalling that figuring that was a sign of the next Palace Ruler... Ryoken Kogami... a one time friend he made in the past, he never seen again. Now that he remembers who he is, he knows where he is. "Futaba?" To find him, he turned over to the navigator.

"Huh, what is it Yusaku?" she asked curiously.

"Do you think you can find a location? I think I know a clue about Ryoken." Yusaku answered.

"Huh, sure what location?" Futaba asked him.

"The Stardust Road." Yusaku answered.

"Huh, kind of weird but I can give it a try." she answered.

"The Stardust Road?" Ann asked. "What's that?"

"Suppose to be a phenomenon that happens sometimes." Kolter answered a little confused over Yusaku wanting to try finding it. "When the moon is full a bunch of algae gather at an area forming a glowing road in the ocean."

"That sounds beautiful." Makoto smiled.

"Yusaku, why do you want to try finding it?" Skye asked him confused.

Yusaku closed his eyes before looking at them. "I had met Ryoken Kogami before."

"You have?" Akira asked him. "Then do you think you know his keywords?"

"Hold on, even if we do know them we should be patient... we don't want to do anything recklessly." Zenkichi pointed out.

"Perhaps. The Stardust Road should be a clue what they are." Yusaku answered over to Akira. "He told me before that he lives near the Stardust Road so perhaps his distortion, or place where it's distorted should be at that location assuming he hasn't moved."

"It's worth a try, but I agree with Zenkichi." he pointed out. "We should wait for a bit longer."

"There's no time to wait. We got more Hanoi trouble." Kolter brought up.

Hearing that they all turned to see what he meant. They see a large tower has appeared in the middle of Link VRAINS with Knights flying around dueling people who vanished in data when they lost.

"What the hell?" Ryuji questioned. "What is that!?"

"Scanning, scanning." Axis checked over before pinging. "The Tower of Hanoi."

"Tower of Hanoi? What are they planning on doing with that?" Skye frowned.

"Analyzing data now." Axis checked over before then explaining over. "Okay, I have data about it. The Tower of Hanoi a data construct created by the Hanoi to delete the whole world of Link VRAINS, and the network at once."

That shocked the entire group.


Earlier at SOL Technologies...

Zaizen had just arrived at his area of work sighing before Hayami walked over nervous. "Mr. Zaizen?"

"Yes?" he asked curiously.

"The Inner Circle... Bishop wants to see you." Hiyami answered.

Zaizen frowned at that but nodded. "I understand, thanks for telling me Risa."

Hiyami slowly nodded as Zaizen walked off leaving her to frown worried. Walking to the room where he speaks to the Inner Circle Zaizen calmly took a breath. When he entered he sees Two Knights, two Rooks, a Bishop, King, and Queen Chess Pieces in the room together. Seeing them he bowed respectfully.

"Zaizen. Do you know why we called for you?" King questioned him as his Chess piece glowed.

"I have my suspicions sir." Zaizen answered. "The events in the databank correct?"

"That, and the event involving the Phantom Thieves." King answered over. "Sota also failed himself but we already talked with him about it. Right now we're focused on you. Bishop will tell you about what's gonna happen."

"I understand." Zaizen nodded turning to Bishop.

"You know Zaizen, I been waiting to do this for a long time. So now to remind you, you'll always be beneath me, I'll just say this." Bishop spoke over to him, "Your fired."

Zaizen frowned. "I understand… I failed to protect vital data. Though if I may make one request?"

"You may." King answered.

"I believe I know someone who can fill my position and live up to your expectations. Risa Hayami." Zaizen answered.

"That bumbling girl?" Queen questioned hearing that. "Why do you think she's qualified?"

"Her work ethic is admirable, she's been my assistant for long enough to be familiar with what my position entails, and Emperor trusts her." Zaizen answered calmly.

"If your vouching her Zaizen, I believe that may be the right move." King spoken over from this.

"What? King, that girl is an idiot!"

"She may be... unpredictable at times but from her time working here she's been doing well." King explained over to Queen. "So if Zaizen says she's more then qualified, I'll believe him. So Zaizen, before you go tell Miss Hayami to come to this room for her to talk to us."

"Of course." he nodded leaving the room.

"King you alright about this?" one of the Knights which is Lancelot's voice asked him.

"Yes, I'm sure. Zaizen was almost our second Bishop before this happened." King answered over. "Maybe Hayami can be the second one if she proves herself."

"I doubt it." Queen frowned.

Outside the room Zaizen walked to Hayami. "Risa, they want to speak with you."

"Oh, uh yes Zaizen thanks." Hayami bowed walking over to the room.

Shivering she walked in. "You… asked for me?"

"Ah so your Miss Hayami?" King asked as she sees everyone. "You no doubt heard of us, the Chess Inner Circle of SOL Tech."

"Yes… I'm honored." Hayami nodded.

"Well Miss Hayami, we have something important to discuss with you about." King explained over. "Your previous superior Akira Zaizen as you can tell experienced a change of heart from the Phantom Thieves."

"Yes... I'm aware." she nodded nervously. 'It wasn't his fault though... the Phantom Thieves are dangerous.'

"We discussed it over, and decided the best move possible going forward. He's been relieved of duty." King explained.

Hayami flinched but nodded. "I... I see."

"But you are taking his place." King added.

"Of course sir. I under..." Hayami started before her eyes shot open. "WHAT?"

"Zaizen vouched for you before he was fired." Lancelot explained over. "To be honest, I'd hardly think your qualified but King believes you are really fit for the position."

"I... I understand, I won't disappoint you sir." Hayami nodded respectfully.

"Then your next assignment starts now." King stated to her. "Find the Ignis, and capture them by any means but DO NOT destroy them."

"Of course... I understand." Hiyami nodded nervously. "Oh... permission to ask one question King, sir?"

"Hmm?" King listens.

"The Ignis... if the Phantom Thieves have one of them... is it possible to bait them into a trap similarly to what the detective prince Goro Akechi attempted? A secure zone in Link VRAINS perhaps that only the inner circle has the codes to escape from?" Hayami asked nervously.

She heard a small scoff from the name of who she mentioned before then saying. "No, the Thieves would learn not to fall for such tricks again. It's best to come up with something they don't expect."

"I understand." Hayami nodded. "I'll... begin looking into how to obtain the Ignis immediately."

"See to it that you do." King instructed. "Relay all you can to Kitamura so that you can work how to obtain them with the Pawn Drones in development."

"Of course, I understand and... thank you for this opportunity sir." Hayami nodded.

Just then an alarm is sound as she can hear some moving before the Rook that's black spoken up. "Get to work Hayami, we will send you a notification!" That said the room vanished leaving her alone. She shuddered but left the room as she tried to calm down from what she just learned and to get to work immediately.


At the office where the Inner Circle is, Bishop turned over to Alexander, and Lancelot. "What's going on you two?"

"We're detecting something big in Link VRAINS." Alexander displayed a holographic orb of what's happening.

"That... where did that tower come from?" Queen questioned.

"Hey is that the Knights of Hanoi?" White asked seeing the knights flying around dueling the users of Link VRAINS.

"What do we do King?" Rook asked him.

"Employ the Charisma Duelists to defend, and have Emperor, Kitamura, and Hayami lead." King instructed over.

"Sir." Rook nodded at that as Queen frowned.

"Can she even duel?" she questioned.

"She doesn't need too if she leads, and gives orders." King stated over. "Only if in emergencies."

Queen sighed but nodded looking at the orb.


At Cafe Nom...

Right now Kolter is driving the food truck to the location Futaba found the Stardust Road at while the Thieves discuss about the tower.

"Should some of us go in and try and deal with that?" Yusuke suggested.

"No it be best if we all focus on the Palace." Yusaku answered checking in. "It looks like SOLs has it covered for now, there keeping civilians safe."

"I agree, it's our best option." Morgana nodded.

"But should we? The Hanoi looked to be more important." Ryuji expresses doubt from this.

"They are but there is a reason." Yusaku answered over turning. "Last thing I remember before the incident was that I met Ryoken. I don't know the specifics, but I think he's the one who the Hanoi kidnapped, and who helped me not to give up."

"If that's true then we should help him and return the favor." Haru mentioned only to pause. "Still, I wonder what kind of person he is... and what we'll learn in his palace about that incident."

"Well we're here." they looked seeing there stopping front of a large house. A luxuery house it seems.

"Whoa, fancy place." Futaba admitted.

"Yeah." They all exited staring.

Akira then looked at Axis in his Duel Disk. "Is this the place?"

"Scanning." Axis scanned over eyeing it before then pinging. "Confirmed! Kogami Residence, one of the Keywords needed to enter the Palace of Ryoken Kogami!"

"So we just need a distortion... laboratory?" Ann guessed.

"No options available."

"It was a good idea, ok... um, D for dungeon?" Makoto asked.

"No options available."

"P?" Yusuke asked.

"No options available."

Akira frowned only for Yusaku to close his eyes.

"What if we were too hasty? L." Yusaku mentioned.

"Option available." Axis said a different response this time.

"Well, that works." Akechi noted calmly.

"What's the distortion?" Sophia asked Axis.

"Labyrinth."

"Huh, this place is a Labyrinth?" Ryuji asked.

"We have the keywords, so who's going in?" Akira asked.

"I think... Playmaker, Blue Angel, Skull, Wolf, Noir, Mona and Oracle." Makoto answered.

"Didn't you say it be better if you all go in?" Cal asked.

"We will, but an advance team of four with the navigator is able to avoid being detected... the rest of us will be close behind in case..." Morgana started only for Skye's Duel Disk to start beeping with a message.

Skye surprised checks in to see what the message is.

"Blue Angel, you need to help defend Link VRAINS from the Knights of Hanoi."

Skye frowned from this before lowering her Duel Disk. "SOL said I need to head to Link VRAINS but this Palace takes better priority."

"We'll be ok." Yusaku told her. "Don't worry Skye... trust us, just like we trust you."

"You guys are more important." Skye frowned from this.

He took her hand. "If the Knights of Hanoi destroy Link Vrains, we won't be able to do anything with the palace. We need you to stop them so we can figure out what's going on Skye."

Skye frowned from this before slowly nodding. "Okay Yusaku. I'm still gonna follow you to the Palace since you need to enter Link VRAINS to even get into it."

He nodded only for time to seem to freeze.

"Thou will have our blessing when creating a Persona of the Lovers Arcana."

Skye Zaizen/Blue Angel: (Lovers; RANK 3)

He blinked at that but smiled.

"I'll be heading in at Skye's place." Makoto brought up before looking over to Zenkichi. "And Zenkichi, are you sure you can head in? You haven't done Phantom Thief work in a while, and haven't joined us in the last two Palaces."

"Dad'll be fine. I been making sure he's still in top shape." Akane assured over smiling patting Zenkichi's back. "And it isn't like him to just sit back, and let stuff happen like he used too. But come back in one piece alright dad?"

"Of course, I will." he nodded with a smile. "And don't worry Makoto... this Wolf can still handle himself."

"Are you all ready? Time to head in." Yusaku said as they nodded before moving over. So they ready activating there Duel Disks. "INTO THE VRAINS!" At that there Duel Disks glowed taking a trip to Link VRAINS.


When they entered they see that there right in front of the Tower of Hanoi with Zenkichi in a dark black jacket, white mask, and a two handed sword on his back.

"Isn't this that tower?" Wolf questioned.

"It is. It looks like the location where the palace is, is where the Tower of Hanoi is." Playmaker frowned from this. "Which means Ryoken is deeper involved then we thought. Also means that he might also know how to stop the Tower of Hanoi."

"We better hurry, and get started." Axis spoken as they see one ring has been formed. "Every hour that's passed the Tower gains a ring. If it gains 6, it will have the power to completely purge all of Link VRAINS, and the entire network."

"That's my cue, I'll help the other duelists." Blue Angel said before then looking at the group. "But be sure to save some of the fun in the palace for me!"

"Sure." Panther smiled. "We'll save some Shadows for you."

Blue Angel nodded before summoning her Duel Board before flying off. Queen walked forward readying her Duel Disk having Axis. "Ryoken Kogami, Kogami Residence, Labyrinth."

"Keywords confirmed. Summoning palace." At that the usual earthquake when a Palace is manifesting in Link VRAINS began.

"What will this one look like?" Fox pondered.

They see the Tower of Hanoi is shifting over forming a small entrance over of some ruins around it. Then it formed a staircase down below the ground in while they stared seeing statues of Knights of Hanoi raising from the ground. When it finished, they see the part of the Tower there seeing changed appearance where it has a staircase, and ruins of Hanoi statues around the entrance. Not much changed just waiting down below at the entrance as Labyrinths are suppose to be underground.

"Well... let's see what's waiting for us." Noir mentioned. "Are you all ready?"

They nodded running in at this.

(Palace Theme: The Ghost Ship (Rogue Galaxy))

Entering they looked around seeing underground ruins around filled with relics around along with some some statues of Hanoi around, and moss/plant life growing around.

"This place feels off, why would he have so many images of the Knights of Hanoi in his Palace?" Wolf questioned.

"He was kidnapped by the Hanoi so his distortion would resolve around his kidnappers based on his fears." Playmaker answered over. "Well now he saved me before. Now it's my turn with you all. Come on Axis says we don't have much time."

"Right." Queen nodded having taken Blue Angel's place in the first group.

That said they made there way through the Palace. Seeing a Shadow they hid from it as they see it's a stone guardian like monster looking around before turning walking off a direction which they moved over to stay out of sight while moving through. While walking through they see slabs, and writing on walls that they didn't think as important. At least until Ai notices one. "Ah wait wait wait!"

"What?" Playmaker questioned. "What is it?"

"Look there!" Raising up Ai pointed over.

Turning over they see an entrance way to a room. But was was beside it was a carved piece of art that seem to resemble Ai's body. Frowning Playmaker walked into the room. Walking in to follow him they looked around lot seeing anything.

"Hang on." Panther sees some lanterns at the celling called on Célestine to use some flames lightning the lanterns allowing them to see in the room.

When the lights were on they were all surprised from what there seeing.

"What the? What is this?" Oracle questioned.

They are seeing carved art on the wall showing several things. Starting with 6 figures seeming to be tortured around while another figure seems to be in despair from the hearing, and had ran over to some guards who had apprehended the torturers. But a figure was busy on work, and had then seen 6 figures like Ai in his work as they settle onto a area for them. Next it looked as though the figure from earlier seeing to be in horror but they weren't able to tell why exactly as that's all there seeing.

"That... wait, that seventh person isn't one of the people who was captured... is that Ryoken?" Skull asked.

"An anonymous report uncovered the Lost Incident. That must've been how Ryoken stopped it." Playmaker voiced over what he can recall over how the incident ended. "He saved me by telling me to keep looking for three things to live for." He then frowned as he seeing the images. "Though it looked like he escaped, and told the authorities about it. The Hanoi must've taken him to be punished for exposing them, and that's what the Palace is for." He then turned seeing the figure, and six people like Ai. "Though I don't have any clue what the rest of this here means. What about you Ai?"

"Beats me." Ai shrugged over. "I know that's me, and my fellow Ignis but we don't have recollection of encountering Ryoken or his father in our life."

"Ai... who programmed you?" Queen asked him.

"Well... can't exactly remember." Ai admitted over. "I tried finding out once before but it just seemed much of a hassle."

She frowned but nodded.

"Maybe we'll learn more as he look through the rest of the Palace." Oracle admitted. "This is just the start after all."

"Hey!"

Startled they turned seeing a Shadow had seen them. "You all are not suppose to be here!" Then noticing Playmaker, and an Ignis, the Shadow called shocked. "Playmaker, and the DARK Ignis! I must capture you!"

(Battle Theme: Take Over)

The Guardian then split revealing two familiar monsters.

Magnarokket Dragon and Shelrokket Dragon. Playmaker's eyes widened seeing them.

"Oracle, any weaknesses?" Noir asked quickly.

"Let me see! Careful!" Oracle already moved behind to start scanning.

"Alright let's start back!" Wolf placed his hand on his longsword. "Hope your ready back in the game Valjean!"

"Triple Down!" Shelrokket generated some of the pullets from it's body shooting over to them striking them while some dodge before moving allowing Magnarokket to make it's own move.

"One-shot kill!" Magnarokket fired a blast from it's head cannot at Noir who quickly dodged the attack.

"Alright let's go!" Skull called removing his mask. "Come on William! Megaton Raid!" William appeared before slamming down it's staff down catching Shelrokket in a attack around.

"Okay! The blue one's weak to electricity! Meanwhile the yellow one's weak to physicals!" Oracle called to them.

Noir nodded running and slashing the yellow one with her axe.

"Gah!" Shelrokket stumbled on.

Playmaker grunted as he generated a card. "Come on! Honeybot!" A card broke apart showing a female bee like Cyberse he had fused back at the Velvet Room grinning. "Tarukaja!" At that Honeybot generated orange light powering up Wolf.

"Valjean, Megido!" Wolf called as a small purple orb appeared between the two monsters and it exploded.

It destroyed Shelrokket quick while stunning Magnarokket as it collapsed. They moved aiming there firearms before Playmaker called. "ALL-OUT ATTACK!" They moved attacking Magnarokket all over destroying it, and ending the battle.

"That wasn't too tough, but I have a feeling it was just the start of what we'll run into in this palace." Mona admitted.

"Still didn't those monsters like familiar?" Queen asked frowning.

"They belong to Varis, the leader of the Knights of Hanoi." Playmaker answered.

They turned to him surprised hearing that.

"When I woken up, I checked the duels that Varis had with Oracle, and Crow to see what kind of duelist he was." Playmaker explained how he knew that. "Now seeing his monsters in this Palace makes me certain of something."

"Certain of what?" Joker inquired turning to him.

Playmaker turned over but before he can answer they suddenly hear something. "We're certain some intruders are seen here Varis."

"Hide." Queen whispered quickly.

So they all quickly hid in shadows as they see light building. Walking in were two people.

One was someone who looks like Specter, the same man who encountered Blue Angel, and given her the Dark Angel card.

The other was Varis himself only he has glowing yellow eyes instead of is all yellow eyes, his hair gray, and red hairbangs and having two pistol holsters at his waist looking around while the Specter lookalike holds a torch.

"This is where the scout found them?" Varis asked in a Shadow voice.

"That was what the report voiced." the Specter lookalike answered with his hands behind him.

"Just cause we don't see them doesn't mean there not there. If the DARK Ignis, and Playmaker were here capturing them is the top priority." Varis said narrowing his eyes staring at some of the murals. "I sometimes wish I never exposed father, Specter. Reporting the Hanoi Project allowed SOL Technologies to infect him."

"We can still carry on your father's wish as long as you live. The destruction of the Ignis must be done." the Specter lookalike assured.

"Have all guards on alert." Varis instructed before he turned walking off with the Specter lookalike following him.

"What?" Panther mouthed hearing that.

They got out of there hiding places while Playmaker stared off frowning. "I knew it. Ryoken Kogami is Varis, the Leader of the Knights of Hanoi."

"Then... if we change his heart we stop the Hanoi?" Skull asked him.

"And stop the Tower it seems." Playmaker turned. "Let's keep moving before they come back." They nodded heading out looking. After halfway through the hall Axis suddenly pinged.

"Oh! I'm detecting two things!" Axis announced to them.

"What do you mean?" Fox asked.

"I'm detecting a safe room." Axis listed the first thing. "It's near something powerful. We should check that out, it feels like the Tower itself!"

Hearing that the group nodded heading to investigate. After arriving in the Safe Room, and getting some rest they moved entering in seeing there in a area where a large pink orb with rings was at the center glowing bright.

"Huh, what do you guys think this is?" Skull asked them.

"I'm not sure, but whatever it is I have a feeling it's very important." Queen answered.

"Scanning. Scanning." Axis scanned over before then calling. "Okay analysis complete! This is the seed of the Tower of Hanoi!"

"I see, though I doubt it'll be easy for us to destroy." Crow noted.

"Maybe let her finish talking before then talking about destroying it Crow?" Skull suggested.

"If this is a seed of that tower our goal is obviously to destroy it and attempt to bring the tower down." Crow noted. "I simply pointed out that I don't expect that task to be an easy one."

"Which is why he said to let her finish." Queen told him.

"As I was saying." Axis continued to avoid an argument. "This was the seed that the Tower was formed from planted by Varis, and Dr. Kogami. It used to be a blue cube but it grew due to absorbing data around Link VRAINS allowing it's growth to highten. We're directly under the Tower of Hanoi right now where it's seed is. If we destroy it, it won't stop the Tower but it will greatly reduce how fast it needs to charge to destroy all of Link VRAINS, and the network."

"So if we destroy it, the others will have more time." Crow noted. "Sounds like an easy choice then."

"Alright then let's go!" Skull grinned readying.

"Hold it there." a voice said stopping them. Then something flew it before jumping off landing in front of them showing what looks like Dr. Genome smirking over to them. "Intruders like the report told. Phantom Thieves of all."

Playmaker frowned seeing him.

"As if we don't have enough problems." Wolf frowned from this.

"You know your certainly brave to come to the Hanoi stronghold here." the Dr. Genome lookalike smirked over. "After prevailing against Varis, we been making sure the Tower will be the one to destroy you all. You can't stop it, you should just accept you lost."

"You must be joking, we don't give up and we always find a way out of any situation." Queen told him.

"And what of it? Coming here to Varis' Palace directly to destroy the Tower from the inside?" the Dr. Genome lookalike chuckled from this. "Even if you destroy the seed you'll only be delaying it's progress. To truly stop it, you have to defeat Varis which won't be as lucky as the last time against the one who used Loki."

"You're only Ryoken's cognition, of course you'd think we can't beat him... we managed it once, and even if he's stronger we'll defeat him a second time." Crow stated calmly.

"Here at this Palace, I can't lose cause he wills it." Cognitive Dr. Genome chuckled from this before readying over. "If you think differently then come!" He stepped back as the Master Duel layout appeared in between them surprising the thieves.

"Wait hang on we can actually duel here?" Skull asked not expecting this.

"Given that Varis' Knights can duel to get rid of threats it makes sense his cognitions of them will also have this same type of defense." Mona admitted over to them. "But I'm not sure what can happen if we duel one of the cognitions here."

"Don't worry." they look to Axis at Playmaker's Duel Disk who smiled. "Just let me handle this one!" She glowed before a glowing orb exited Playmaker's Duel Disk before it slowly formed into something.

"What the?" Ai questioned. "Oh come on how can you do that?"

Then the glow stopped as something placed down showing someone. It was a girl that looks to be the same height, and age as Sophie with a pink jumpsuit having a blue vest, and white lines on both sides of the suit with it being fingerless. Her hair is also pink in two pigtails with purple iris eyes along with having two teardrop marks that are pink on her cheeks smiling over.

"Dueling Mode installation complete!" the girl smiled announcing as she generated a pink Duel Disk on her arm. "Phantom Thieves please let me handle this cognition of the Hanoi."

"Go ahead." Playmaker nodded.

"Did Axis-san ever mentioned that?" Skull whispered to Panther who shrugged.

"Well intriguing program of yours." Cognitive Dr. Genome grinned from this. "You may not have DNA but you'll be an interesting specimen to look over!"

"Your gonna have to win first." Axis kept her smile over.

"I plan too." Cognitive Dr. Genome grinned readying over with her.

"DUEL!"

"I think so." Playmaker nodded.

Axis checked before nodding smiling. "Okay! I first start by summoning Firewall Defenser!" At that appeared was a small cyberse legless dragon that's purple/black with red eyes growling.

"Code Talker, isn't that your monster?" Panther asked Playmaker.

Playmaker narrowed his eyes as the monster formed.

"From the data circuitry comes the monster designed to protect the bonds of friendship! May it shine through, and put a wall against those who threatened bonds! Link Summon! Link 3, Protectcode Talker!"

At that readying was a Code Talker having light blue armor with hexagon like designs in it's armor, and small wings on it's back readying down on the field.

Lowering down was a genetic bird with orbs around it's body, and having a lizard tail cawing flying in.

"Axis are you alright?" Queen asked her.

"Yes Queen." Axis nodded.

"You won't be after this next one." Cognitive Dr. Genome smirked before calling. "Now Mutated-Ganthor attack Protectcode Talker!" The bird charged in at it.

"I activate Security Block!" Axis activated a face-down.

"I pick Mutated-Ganthor!" Axis called Security Dragon charged an attack firing.

Grunting Dr. Genome called over. "I activate Genetic Completion!"

"What do you mean she's not able to destroy his Tokens?" Skull asked her hearing that since he doesn't say anything about his Tokens unable to be destroyed.

"Huh?" Noir asked before blinking. "Oh, wait how strong are the tokens again?"

"It doesn't matter, if they're in defense position Axis won't deal damage either way." Playmaker told them.

Axis shrugged. "Then I'll Link Summon again!" Firewall Guardian, and Security Dragon flew up entering the left, right, and bottom arrows. "Link Summon! Pitknight Filly!"

Cognitive Dr. Genome only grinned. "While DNA-Genetics is on the field, Helixx that are the same type cannot be destroyed in battle by a monster with that type!" Both of Lilly's attacks hit but they didn't do anything.

"What?" Mona questioned in shock. "What can she do now?"

Now Axis looked over seeing she can't do anything else now. "I end my turn.

If they say, it doesn't prevent her from attacking directly then she can ignore them but if there are two monsters that can't be attacked on the field at once such as my Clock Dragon, and Quantum Dragon, then it means she can't attack at all." Playmaker explained over. "She can attack directly but she needs to have an effect to have that happen."

"So she's stuck?" Sophie asked. "That's not fair."

"Call it what you want but for the greater good of humanity, we're willing to take steps necessary." Cognitive Dr. Genome brushed off the protests which confuses them but he continued on. "Next, I activate my face-down, Evolution DNA!"

"That helps." Queen noted.

"In that case, I attack Pitknight Lilly!" Necro Darwin turned tackling through Lilly destroying her while Axis winced a little. (Axis: 2300/Hand: 1) "Now DNA-Genetics!" The Link 1 fired a dark blast striking Axis. (Axis: 1900/Hand: 1) "I place 2 cards down, and end my turn."

"But he won't be alone! During the Standby Phase when Pitknight Lilly is destroyed, she returns!" Pitknight Lilly rose beside Protectcode Talker readying.

"That's definitely going to help." Crow noted. "Though it doesn't look like it's quite enough."

"Now I summon Swap Cleric!" Axis summoned a small mage.

"Two attacks, that means she wins." Oracle smiled.

"No." Playmaker stated confusing Oracle. "Do you remember, he gained points earlier due to Mutated-Ganthor's effect. It would cause a lot of damage but it won't beat him."

"Oh... oh yeah." she frowned.

"Battle! Protectcode Talker attack him directly with two attacks!" Protectcode Talker flew in ignoring DNA-Genetics, and Necro Darwin. "Then Optimization's effect activates!" The spell glowed on her field. "You can't activate cards or effects when a Code Talker battles!" Protectcode Talker slashed down twice striking Cognitive Dr. Genome hard forcing him on his back. (Cognitive Dr. Genome: 0550/Hand: 2)

"Darn it, so close!" Skull frowned.

"Hng... think your cocky now cause you landed over 4000 damage?" Cognitive Dr. Genome grunted getting up glaring. "Yeah keep talking you will see your wrong!" He drew. "I draw! And I activate my face-down, Modifying the Mutagen!"

"I sacrifice Necro Darwin to summon back Mutated-Ganthor, and it's type becomes the same as a monster you have!" Necro Darwin vanished as Mutated-Ganthor rose up on the field. "When Evolution DNA's target leaves the field, it's destroyed." His continuous trap shattered from this.

"Then I activate Mutated-Ganthor's effect! When summoned from the graveyard, I summon Marmotroll from the graveyard in Defense!" Marmotroll rose up defending.

"He's planning something, this is his big move." Playmaker noted.

"I activate Necro Darwin's effect!" Cognitive Dr. Genome added over. "When it's in the graveyard, I can revive next to a Link Monster's link!" Necro Darwin rose up again cawing.

"Then I activate Mutated Ganthor's effect! It halves Protectcode Talker's points, and gives me points equal!" Mutated Ganthor charged as Protectcode Talker was weakened.

"Hold on... how strong a monster can he bring out again?" Skull asked looking at the field.

"Enough for a Link 3 or 4." Playmaker answered.

Skull swallowed nervously. "So um... on the off chance she loses what's our plan?"

"I'll take over. We either destroy the Seed, or all of Link VRAINS will be destroyed." Playmaker answered.

"Appear the future circuit!" The circuit appeared as Necro Darwin, and Mutated-Ganthor flew entering the diagonal arrows. "Link Summon! Link 4, Helixx Storming Naga!"

Raising up was a Helixx that has orbs with a large snake tail alongside several arms, and bat wings around readying.

Cognitive Dr. Genome smirked over. "Very well then. I still have an effect. When Storming Naga destroys your monster, 1 card on your field is destroyed!" Storming Naga charged an attack destroying Optimization.

Joker frowned at that. "Not good."

"A tad desperate but I commend you for surviving. I end my turn." Cognitive Dr. Genome smirked.

Axis knew there that if she doesn't win this turn, she'll lose. From that she looks over seeing what she does will be difficult to do. But she's not gonna give up here. "Playmaker?"

"Yeah?" he asked her hearing that.

Axis turned over before smiling. "This next turn might be my last. Thanks for freeing me when King locked me up. I thought I was gonna be alone for my life until you, and the Thieves saved me from that prison. If I fall here, I'm trusting you to stop the Hanoi."

Playmaker looked at her before closing his eyes. "You aren't going to fall Axis, I'm sure of it."

Suddenly time froze from this.

"Thou will have our blessing when creating a Persona of the Aeon Arcana."

Axis: (Aeon; RANK 2)

Suddenly when time resumed Playmaker, and Axis suddenly sensed something as a roar was heard around them as Cognitive Dr. Genome looked around. "What was that?"

Playmaker smiled. "Win this Axis."

Axis looked around before then noticing her Deck is glowing. "Wha...?" She stared over as she heard the same roar. "Playmaker...?" She can sense the devotion, and feelings over as she stared. "Is his soul fighting with me...?" Then smiling she shed a tear. "Playmaker... thank you for trusting me." That said she drew turning back to the duel. "I draw!" Cognitive Dr. Genome turned as she looks before nodding. "I activate the spell Cynet Rollback!"

"I take Firewall Guardian back to the field!" Guardian came back growling.

"Now appear the circuit of friendship!" The link portal appeared as Axis called. "The summoning conditions are two of more monsters!" Cyberse Accelerator, and Guardian flew up entering the vertical, and horizontal arrows.

"Wait what!?" Dr. Genome questioned in shock.

"Within the circuit comes the monster that can defend the bonds of those close! Way it form a wall that can stop threats from getting through! Link Summon! Manifest, Link 4! Firewall Dragon!"

Appearing up was a large white armored dragon that is the dame design as her other Firewall monsters with a blue body, and red eyes flying up, and roaring loud on the field.

Everyone stared at the dragon in shock except Playmaker who smiled gently.

"I target Firewall Dragon, and summon monsters to the zones it's linked too! Cyberse Accelerator, Protectcode Talker! Welcome back!" Axis called as both her Link Monsters rose back readying.

Cognitive Dr. Genome grunted from this. "Even if you summon lots of monsters they don't have another attack points to win this duel!"

"Not when I use Firewall Dragon's special ability! Emergency Escape!" Firewall Dragon roared generating electricity. "Firewall Dragon can add any monster on the field or in the graveyards equal to how how many monsters co-linked to it back to hand!"

"Wait, you're lying!" Cognitive Dr. Genome cried hearing that.

"See for yourself! I return Marmotroll, and Storming Naga back!" Firewall Dragon fired lightning at the two Helixx in the Main Monster Zones forcing them off leaving DNA-Genetics on Cognitive Dr. Genome's field who can't defend him as it's not linked.

"Yes, she got him." Skull smirked.

"Battle!" Axis called readying to finish this.

Knowing she has to stop her Cognitive Dr. Genome called over. "I activate my face-down, Failure Mutagen!"

Target monsters on the field who's Type is not the same as 1 "Helixx" monster you control: Negate it's effects, and if you do, those monsters cannot attack this turn. During the End Phase of the turn this card is in your GY: You can set this card but banish it when it leaves the field. You can only activate each effect of "Failure Mutagen" per turn.


"This card negates the effects of monsters who's Types aren't the same as a Helixx on the field, and forbids them from attacking!" At that serums washed over Axis' monsters from the trap's effect.

"Oh come on, seriously?" Mona frowned.

"Looks like your out of options." Cognitive Dr. Genome smirked over.

"Are you sure?" Axis asked still smiling making him blink before she revealed. "Protectcode Talker's effect!" From the serum wave they notice a light glowing. "Link 4 monsters on my field cannot be targeted to your effects, or be destroyed in battle while it's on the field!" The serum wave finished moving pass them revealing Cyberse Accelerator, and Protectcode Talker are sick while Firewall Dragon itself is still gearing to attack.

"What!?" Cognitive Dr. Genome knew right there he just lost.

Playmaker smiled calmly seeing that.

"Firewall Dragon attack Helixx DNA-Genetics!" Firewall Dragon changed forms where it's wings moved into a large orange circle flying above. "Tempest Terahertz!" Firewall Dragon charged an attack firing over to DNA-Genetics destroying them while Cognitive Dr. Genome yelled out from the attack.

The Tempest Terahertz continued on the path reaching over to the seed striking it. After a few seconds explosions started doting it before it then exploded large in the room causing a large shockwave.

"Brace yourselves!" Wolf cried as the shockwave hit the Phantom Thieves.

The shockwave stumbled them all as got pushed back to the ground as it resulted.


Meanwhile...

Varis was watching through with Dr. Kogami himself in Link VRAINS, and Specter with some Knights before suddenly an alarm blared through the base surprising them.

"What?" Specter questioned.

"Varis, what's happening?" Baira asked in shock.

"What's going on!?" Varis demanded to the working Knights.

"V-Varis sir... the seed..."

"What? What about the seed?" Varis questioned over to the shell-shocked Knight of Hanoi.

"The seed it's... been destroyed." the Knight said slowly stunned.

"What?" Dr. Kogami questioned. "How is that possible?"

"The Seed was at a place where no-one can reach it." Dr. Genome also expressed shock. "So how can it be destroyed?"

Varis then realized it right then, and there how it was possible. "The Phantom Thieves! They must've done something to it!"

"The Phantom Thieves... Varis we need to make our move before everything falls apart." Specter mentioned.

"I agree." Faust nodded. "The four of us will head out and try to alleviate the damage."

"Don't bother, all they done is delay Link VRAINS destruction." Varis instructed them. "Focus on powering the Tower of Hanoi, everything else will take care of the Thieves." He then turned over to Dr. Kogami. "Father let's see how long it will take for the Tower to activate now that this happened. Once we secure how long we must defend the Tower how long as we can!"

"True, this is a minor setback, nothing more." Dr. Kogami noted thoughtfully.


Ulrich362: The seed of the tower of Hanoi was destroyed, but there's probably more waiting in Ryoken's Palace right bopdog?

bopdog111: Yeah, and now the Thieves are charting into more dangerous territory as this is the base of the Hanoi, and now dueling is possible in the Palace. On the otherhand we seen Axis, and her abilities now. Her abilities develop as her Social Link with Playmaker increases.

Ulrich362: Which makes sense, of course we won't be seeing the Phantom Thieves and Playmaker next time.

bopdog111: They survive the explosion don't worry about that.
