After a full night of rest, Haruhi felt a bit better. She did have some trouble sleeping at the beginning of the night, but after taking some melatonin she was able to knock out in minutes. She was scared to go outside. The killer could be stalking her anywhere. She hated having security with her, but she might have to take Kyoya's offer and have them follow her around the school. If he knew Akira was bothering her, he must be at the school. With security, they can keep a lookout to see who might be watching her or being suspicious.
Kyoya offered his loyal guards to watch over her. Since he trusted them with his own life he knew that Tachibana, Aijima, and Honda were the right people to keep Haruhi safe. One of them would accompany Haruhi to school, while the other two would switch off watching her apartment and working with the Ootori's. They wouldn't follow too close to her, keeping their distance so she could have her privacy and not feel crowded. For extra caution, however, she would have to ride to and from school in a car with them. Tamaki was first bummed about that, but when he found out he was allowed to come with her, his mood brightened with the situation.
It was Friday morning, and Haruhi exited the car with Tamaki and Tachibana. They walked to Tamaki's class first since it was closer, Tachibana was keeping a good enough distance so it didn't feel like he was smothering them, but Haruhi didn't feel comfortable being too affectionate in front of someone whose job was to keep an eye on her. She knew they were only kissing, but it just felt odd. However, after looking at his puppy eyes, she complied and gave Tamaki a quick kiss before he left for his class. Haruhi then met up with the twins, who were talking to Renge about the recent doujinshi she had been writing. Hikaru had one in his hand as he flipped through it. There seemed to be a slight smirk on his face as he read it, and he pointed to a section to show Kaoru and all three of them laughed about it.
Hikaru then seemed to catch Haruhi's eye as she walked over to them and handed Renge back her book.
"What are you writing about this time Renge?" Haruhi asked.
"Oh, this?" Renge held up the notebook proudly. "This is the new thriller doujinshi I've been writing."
"Thriller?" Haruhi questioned. She looked over at the twins confused. "As in like…"
"No, no." Hikaru immediately denied it, getting what she was hinting at. "It's more like gang-related stuff. Yakuzas, you know."
"Yeah, we just thought it was funny because of how she made a character almost exactly like Kasanoda." Kaoru chuckled.
"Well, he is the son of a powerful yakuza family. He was the perfect person for inspiration." Renge defended.
"Couldn't you have used someone, I don't know, more threatening?" Hikaru suggested. "Yeah, his mug looks like it can send you straight to hell if you get him angry, but he's actually a sweet guy."
"That's the point! It's a thriller, but also a romance. With a little bit of lemony zest. If you know what I mean?" She gave them a wink.
"Ok, didn't need to know about that." Hikaru rolled his eyes. "I'd prefer to not image Kasanoda doing anything zesty. Thank you very much."
The clock tower rang, signally that classes were about to start soon. Renge put her notebook away in her bag. "I should get to class. I'll show you guys more once I've finished the next chapter."
They waved Renge off and all three of them began heading to their next class. Haruhi checked to see if Tachibana was still behind her, and he was. About fifteen feet away. Just like he always was. She knew he wouldn't neglect his job, but it always did make her feel better to see him there after a little while just to make sure he was still watching over her. Hikaru seemed to notice her doing this for the past few days and looked down at her concerned.
"Are you sure you're going to be ok tonight? I told you we could always reschedule the double date if you don't feel safe going out tonight. Your safety is far more important than some double date."
"It's fine, really," Haruhi reassured. "I have protection now, and I also don't want to be one of those people who are too scared to leave their house and watch my life waste away. I just have to be more careful than most people until all this blows over."
"I really admire your positive attitude Haruhi," Kaoru said. "I probably would leave the fucking country if some Ghostface guy was stalking and killing for me."
"Trust me, I would love to." Haruhi sighed out. "But, if he's killing people who just are bothering me. I can't imagine what he would do if I left the country entirely. He would go on a rampage. I care about you guys too much to risk it."
"You truly are a strong woman Haruhi Fujioka." Hikaru smiled at her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders tightly. As if trying to give some sort of protection and comfort.
…
Haruhi turned off the shower and grabbed her towel to dry off. She slightly flinched as she patted her stitches dry. Her side was healing, but it was still a bit tender where she had been slashed. She wondered it if was going to scar. She hoped not. Not because she thought it would be ugly, but because she has already enough mental scars from all that was going on that she didn't need any physical ones.
Once she dried off, she changed into her clothes. The date attire was semi-formal. They didn't need to dress like they were going out on the red carpet, but they wanted to at least look nice. Hikaru had said he had the perfect outfit for her and an hour ago dropped off an emerald green pantsuit. He said while shopping with Shiroi, he saw this and immediately thought of her. Saying it was an early Christmas gift, even though it's the middle of October. Haruhi wanted to wear it another day since it felt a little too formal, but Hikaru convinced her to wear it tonight. Saying that it'll be sure to wow Tamaki.
She put some finishing touches on some light makeup before she put her hair in a low twisted bun, leaving some fringe in the front. She got out a curling iron, that Mei had gifted her and forced her to use last year and curled the fringe into beach waves. Once she was done she took a step back to admire her work. It didn't look salon professional, but she had been improving with her hair and makeup techniques. She only ever did them if it was anything formal, and even though she still wasn't the biggest fan of getting all glammed up, it did feel good to do it once in a while.
She exited the bathroom, where her dad was searching through his purse for his keys. He looked up when he heard the door open and smiled once he saw how beautiful his daughter looked.
"Gosh, I know I always say this, but you look just as beautiful as your mother."
Haruhi smiled and hugged her dad. "I know Dad, and I always love hearing it."
He squeezed her and let out a shaky breath. "Are you sure you want to go tonight? Your friends will understand if you cancel. I can call off work and we can just have a girls' day here."
"I'm fine Dad, really." Haruhi smiled. "I have Kyoya's guards looking after me the entire night so we should be fine, and we can have a girls' night the next day you have off."
Her phone buzzed, and it was Tamaki telling her that he was ready and since there was no parking since the security had taken the guest parking spots, he couldn't go up and get her. Haruhi hugged her dad once more before heading downstairs to meet her boyfriend to head for their double date.
…
"Wow, what a view," Haruhi said as the lone waiter led the two couples to their table on the fourth floor.
Behind the huge window, the view showed a beautiful view of the entire city, with a gorgeous sunset behind it. It was almost as if an artist painted out a picture and Haruhi was staring at it. If only it wasn't too cold outside, then they would be able to eat out on the balcony.
The waiter placed their menus down before going back to get them water.
"Wow Haruhi," Shiori gushed as they all sat down. "I still can't get over how amazing you look."
Haruhi looked over at Hikaru, who just smiled and placed a finger to his lips. Indicating that the jumpsuit was just a secret between the two of them, and gave her a wink. Shiori wasn't that much of a jealous girlfriend, but Haruhi and Hikaru didn't want to risk there being a scene because Hikaru had gotten her an outfit for their double date and not for his own girlfriend.
Tamaki grabbed ahold of her hand and gave it a tight squeeze. "And I love it too."
He kissed her on the forehead and the waiter came back with some water. As they were ordering their appetizers, Haruhi looked over a few tables away to see Tachibana, who was sipping some coffee as he kept watch over them. The restaurant was completely empty since Shiori had reserved the entire restaurant tonight, (rich people). It was a bit weird for a huge restaurant like this to be entirely empty. A part of her wished that there were at least some more people here. Just to give the place a social environment, however, this will have to do.
"Can you believe that it's been an entire year since we began dating?" Shiori smiled brightly and she held Hikaru's arm, who just looked at her surprised.
He quickly tapped his phone that was on the table to check his calendar and by how his eyebrows raised, she was right. It was their anniversary. Haruhi knew he didn't mean any ill will by it. He has always been a person who forgot dates pretty easily. Especially birthdays. The only birthday that is engraved in his brain besides his own and Kaoru's is Haruhi's. Anyone else, people have to remind him. After a friend of his got mad at him for six months for not wishing her a happy birthday, he started putting them and important dates into his calendar. Seems like he needs to put alerts on them too.
"Wow, has it really?" Tamaki said. He smiled over at Hikaru. "Have you given her a gift yet? I always say the first anniversary is the most important since it's the first of many years together."
He smiled back and placed a hand on Shiori's. "I got her the best gift. One that she won't ever forget."
Haruhi raised a brow at him. How did he have a gift if he didn't remember their anniversary? He was a good bullshitter, or maybe he did have a gift planned out for her but got the dates mixed up. She hoped it was the latter, but with everything going on she couldn't blame him for forgetting to get Shiori a gift for their anniversary. It would've been the last thing on Haruhi's mind also.
There was a quiet ring coming from Tachibana's table. He retrieved his phone from the pockets from inside his blazer and answered it. Haruhi couldn't make out what he was saying, but he was nodding a lot. He wasn't on the phone long before hanging up and got up from his table to make his way over to them.
"I have to go down to talk to the security guard down in the van." He informed. "I shouldn't be gone for more than five minutes."
"No problem Tachibana. Take your time." Haruhi said.
He gave her a nod and began to head down towards the parking lot as the waiter came over with their drinks.
…
Tachibana walked out into the parking lot and headed over to a black security van that was parked in the back. With being in a public space for so long, it was smart to have someone surveillance the outside of the building while he kept watch of Haruhi up close. He knocked on the back door of the van to let the other guard Makoto know that he was there.
"Makoto, it's Tachibana. What was important that you needed to talk about?"
There was no answer. Tachibana knocked on the door again just in case Makoto had headphones on and couldn't hear him.
"Makoto?"
He tried opening the van door but it was locked. He hummed out a frustrated sigh and went to knock on the back door again, but noticed something trickling from the van onto the pavement. He bent down and took some on top of his fingers to try and examine what it was, but it was too dark to see it clearly. He felt it between his fingers, a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. Whatever he felt in his hands was wet, but it didn't feel like water. It was too thick. He used a small flashlight he had on him and turned it on to see dark red liquid on his fingers and it was trickling out of the bottom of the van door. Was that blood? Tachibana shot up and tried ripping the door open to get in. "Makoto!"
There was still no answer and he couldn't get the door open. He had to find a way in. His eyes landed on the passenger window and he knew what he had to do. He ran up to it used his elbow to break the window and unlocked the door. Once the door could be opened, he slid open the van door and was horrified at the scene in front of him. Makoto, the young new, tech-savvy security guard was dead, leaning over the security equipment. His face was blooded, almost unrecognizable. His nose and teeth were broken, his face was all bloodied and impaled with broken glass, and how there was blood on his screens and some of them were broken. It was clear that his face had been smashed into them before having his neck slit.
The killer, he was here!
Tachibana ran back to the restaurant door to get everyone out before it was too late, but the door was locked. That was impossible! He made sure the door was unlocked before he came out here. An employee must've thought the door was unlocked by mistake or the killer got in while Tachibana was outside and locked it after him. Either way, there was a high chance the killer was already in the building.
Tachibana ran to the front of the restaurant and tried opening the door, but it was locked as well. He cursed loudly to himself and punched the door. He had to call for backup. He reached into his pocket to retrieve his phone, but it wasn't there. He checked his other pockets just in case he misplaced it, but it was nowhere to be found.
"Fuck! Fuck! FUCK!"
His phone must've fallen out of his pocket, and since it was an old small flip phone, he didn't feel it slip out of his pocket. He quickly sprinted back over to the van and checked Makoto's body for any type of phone, but nothing. He then found a radio with a walkie attached to one of the monitors and grabbed it.
"Hello? Hello, is anyone there? This is Tachibana, the killer is in the building! I repeat! The killer is in the building with Ms. Fujioka!"
There was no answer.
"Did anyone hear me?! I said the killer is in the building!"
He then noticed the wire of the walkie had been cut. He let out a frustrated scream and threw the walkie with all his force. The killer had this all planned out, but how? He needed to think quickly, or those people in that building were dead. He then noticed the building next to the restaurant. It was under construction, but nothing was stopping him from entering the building. He could reach the same floor they were on and try to get their attention about the killer.
Without giving it a second thought, he took off towards the building. He ascended the stairs to the fourth floor, jumping over tools that were laid carelessly out by the workers from the day before. When he reached the fourth floor, he ran over to the window in the back. He opened it, stuck his head out and saw the two couples chatting to each other through the window. The only issue was, their window was further down from his. His window was facing the kitchen, where the lone chef was finishing up some type of dessert. He could try and get the chef's attention to warn them about the killer.
"Hey!" He yelled out and began to wave his arms to try and get his attention. "Hello! Please!"
The door behind the chef suddenly pushed open behind him and walked in the killer. He noticed the chef cooking and watched him as he cooked, tilting his head in curiosity.
"Hey!" Tachibana screamed again, only able to grab the killer's attention. How could he hear him with a fucking mask over his head but not the chef? Tachibana continued to try and get the chef's attention, even though he knew he was a goner. "Watch out! He's behind you!"
The killer used his glove hand to tap to where his ears were supposed to be, and Tachibana immediately understood. The chef was wearing earbuds. He couldn't hear his screams. Tachibana didn't know what to do. He had no way to call anyone and the only person who could warn about the killer couldn't hear him. He could feel tears burning his eyes, but he couldn't give up. He looked at where Haruhi was and tried to get the group's attention. Yelling as loud as he can and waving his arms. He had to get their attention somehow, or they were going to be dead.
…
They all laughed as Tamaki told a story about his and Haruhi's first date at the amusement park.
"And then, this assholes hit me with a sandal." Tamaki laughed.
"You one hundred percent deserved it." Hikaru defended. "If it weren't for us throwing that at you, Haruhi would've left."
"No, she wouldn't have." Tamaki playfully scoffed.
"Oh, I totally would have."
Tamaki made a mock hurt expression, but they all laughed again. She was having such a great time with her friends. Even with everything going on with the killer, she was glad she was still able to enjoy moments like this. She then looked back at the table where Tachibana had sat and saw that he still hadn't returned. It's been over ten minutes. She hoped whatever happened wasn't too serious.
Tamaki wiped a tear from his eye from laughing. "Oh God, I forgot how funny that story was. I still can't believe that you guys stalked us all day. Kyoya wasn't even in disguise. How did we not even notice him?"
"Hiding in plain sight is his speciality." Hikaru chuckled as he finished off his wine. He looked at his empty glass before searching around for the waiter. "Where's the waiter? I'd like a refill on more of this wine. It's amazing."
"That's because it's a vintage Brunello di Montalcino, babe," Shiori said as she took a sip of her wine. "They make sure to have the best wine in stock here. That's one of the reasons why my father loves this place."
"Now that I think about it," Tamaki began looking around the room as well. "I haven't seen the waiter in a while. Not after he took our appetizer orders."
"That is a bit odd now that I think about it," Shiori said. "We are the only ones here. So it shouldn't take this long to bring out our food."
"Should we check on them? Just to make sure everything is alright?"
Suddenly a big crash came from the kitchen, as if dishes fell and shattered, making everyone jump. There was a loud curse from the chef before it grew silent again. The couples were quiet for a few seconds before they began chuckling to themselves.
"Well, at least we know they're not dead." Hikaru joked.
"They might be a new chef, that's why it's taking so long," Shiori said. "But even the newer chefs know what they're doing here. So the food will be excellent. Even if it sounds like chaos in there."
"That's good to hear. I was worried tha-"
Tamaki was cut off when everyone's phones began to go off with the notification that something had been airdropped to them. They all looked at each other a bit confused as they each took out their phones. Haruhi looked at the notification and she felt her body grow cold when she saw that it was sent from "Akira's Phone." Haruhi felt her pulse quicken in her chest and her breathing began to grow into pants as she accepted the image. The image that popped up on each of their screens was a picture of the chef's back as he cooked. The person who was taking the photo had a bloodied knife pointed at him. The same hunting knife as the killer's.
"What the fuck is this?" Hikaru looked up from his phone. "Is someone punking us?"
"I don't know, but it's not very funny." Tamaki seethed.
There was then another crash sound coming from the kitchen, making them jump up from their table.
"Help! Help me!" The chef screamed from the kitchen. They all began running towards the kitchen door to try and help him, but as they reached it, the screaming silenced. All four of them looked at the door, Shiori holding onto Hikaru's arm for dear life. The silence was deafening. Haruhi could hear her heart pounding in her ears as she looked at the double doors. Tamaki had a protective arm in front of her. Then the silence finally broke when Hikaru took a step back and muttered.
"Run…"
If on cue, the door pushed open. The dead body of the chef was thrust forward towards the group. Hitting Shiori, making her fall to the ground with the body on top of her. She let out a horrified scream and Hikaru got the body off of her.
"Come on, we have to go!" Tamaki yelled as he grabbed Haruhi's arm.
Hikaru looked up at the killer, making eye contact with the mask. The killer tilted his head to the side as he looked at him, and Hikaru knew he was the killer's next target.
"Oh fuck."
The killer then ran towards him and slashed his chest in one quick movement.
"You fucker!" Hikaru gasped as he held onto his chest.
"Leave him alone!" Shiori screamed and began punching the killer in the arm, but it didn't do anything.
The killer turned his attention to her and grabbed ahold of her neck as he pinned her to the ground and began choking her. She gasped and tried to pry his fingers off her neck, but it was futile. He was far stronger than her. Hikaru tried to get up to help, but his wound was too deep and he was growing dizzy.
Tamaki dragged Haruhi through the kitchen towards the exit, but when she looked back to see her friends weren't behind her, she stopped.
"What are you doing?" Tamaki questioned. "We have to go!"
"We can't just leave them there Tamaki! They're going to die!"
Tamaki finally realized that their friends weren't behind them and were still fighting the killer. He knew she was right. They wouldn't make it out alive just the two of them against the killer. Especially seeing what he could do.
"Okay, Haruhi, you go down and get help. I'll go help Hikaru and Shiori."
"No! You get help. I'll go back to them."
"Are you fucking insane?! I'm not letting you get yourself killed!" Tamaki protested.
"We don't have time to argue right now! Look, the killer won't kill me! He just wants to mess with me. At most, he'll hurt me, but nothing is stopping him from killing you. I have a far better chance of saving Hikaru and Shiori than you do! So go!" Tamaki hesitated for a bit, but Haruhi just pushed him out of the kitchen. "I said go!"
Without even seeing if Tamaki left or not, Haruhi began looking for any type of weapon she could use against the killer. She was hoping that she could use his own weapon against him, but there were no knives in sight. It was as if he had time to clear them all out somehow. She found a pan on the stove and decided that was the best she could do in this short amount of time. She ran back to the dining room, where she saw the killer lift a struggling Shiori by the neck and pin her against the wall, before plunging his knife into her lower abdomen. She let out a bloody curdling scream as the killer began bringing the knife upwards, deepening the wound and twisting the knife around in her body. He was playing with her. That sick fucker!
"Hey!" Haruhi yelled out to him.
Once the killed turned his head to her, she hit him in the face with the frying pan. Bringing him down to the ground. Haruhi helped get a whimpering Shiori onto her feet, as well as Hikaru when the killer was able to stand back up. That's when Haruhi noticed something different about him. The killer last time was playing with Haruhi, almost like a cat and mouse game. Even after she had injured him, he had still acted as if this was all a game, but this time, even though she couldn't see his expression. His aura was different. She knew he wasn't going to play nice with her today. He was angry with her...He going to try and kill her.
Haruhi quickly rushed the two to the break room in the kitchen. The killer was hot on their trail, but since he was a bit disoriented from being hit in the head, he was stumbling. Giving Haruhi enough time to get the three of them in and lock the door before the killer could reach them. The killer began banging on the door to try and get in, but Haruhi pushed her body against it to keep it in place. She looked over at her friends who were seated together while holding onto their bleeding wounds, looking worse for wear. Especially Shiori, whose complexion had turned a few shades paler.
Suddenly, the pounding on the door stopped. Haruhi knew in her mind that this must've been a trick. He was probably waiting outside the door, hoping she would check to see if he had left and then attack her. She needed to find a way to get her and her friends out without alerting him.
She then saw another door attached to the break room that seemed to be an office that led to the other side of the dining room. They could use that to escape while the killer was distracted with the door. She needed to get her friends out first since they were wounded. Hikaru was the least wounded out of the two, so he would have to go first.
"Psst, Hikaru!" Haruhi whispered to him. When she got his attention, she motioned her head towards the other door. "Hikaru, office door. Hurry."
He looked over at the door she was talking about and nodded at her. He quietly began making his way towards the office. However, once he passed through the doorway he was frightened to see the dead body of the waiter. Bloodied and stabbed multiple times, shoved into the open closet.
"Oh fuck, the waiter is dead!" He exclaimed without thinking.
He then heard the door burst open and saw the killer was now in the same room he was. He let out a scream, grabbed onto a bookcase that was next to him and pulled it down as the killer came closer to him, making the killer fall underneath it. Hikaru began to retreat the the breakroom, but the killer grabbed onto Hikaru's ankle to make him fall onto his hands and knees.
"Hikaru!" Haruhi screamed and ran over to try and help him.
She grabbed a round paperweight from the desk and was about to hit the killer in the head as he got out from underneath the bookcase, but as she was about to hit him, the killer grabbed ahold of her arm. He got up from the ground, towering over her as he pushed her against the wall, his knife in his other hand ready to stab her.
"No!" Hikaru grabbed the killer from behind, causing him to drop the knife as he thrashed around to get out of Hikaru's grip. "Haruhi go! I can hold him!"
Haruhi ran back to the break room and once she was safe inside, Hikaru threw the killer hard into a shelf before returning as well. Once the door was closed and locked, the pounding on the door started again. The killer was pissed. Each hit was harder and harder, where the wood of the door would bend from the amount of force. The lock wasn't going to hold much longer. They needed to find something to barricade the door with. She then noticed a wooden desk in the corner of the room. It didn't look too sturdy, but it should hold long enough for them to figure out what to do. She hoped.
She had Hikaru help her move the desk in front of the door, and once it was in place, Hikaru leaned against it to put extra weight. The killer was getting impatient. He was now trying to kick the door down, and from how it was making Hikaru bounce as he was trying to keep it closed, he was using full force. They needed to figure something out quickly, or they were all dead.
Haruhi then noticed movement coming from outside the window and grew surprised to see that it was Tachibana. She rushed over to the window and opened it, hoping this was their way of getting saved, but as she looked down at how high they were, all her hope vanished. She had no idea how they were supposed to get down from her without getting hurt.
"Ms. Fujioka!' Tachibana called out to get her attention. "Don't worry, I have an idea!"
He grabbed a ladder from the floor and extended out to her. He had to be fucking kidding. There was no way this could be safe enough for them to cross. But seeing how her friends were injured and the killer was only minutes away from entering the room, there wasn't much of a choice. Once the ladder was within her reach, she grabbed onto it and placed it on the windowsill.
"You have to come one at a time," Tachibana ordered. "Otherwise it won't be able to hold your guys' weight."
Haruhi looked back at her two friends. "You two go first."
Hikaru shook his head as he continued to hold the door closed. "No, no, you go. Someone has to hold the door. You go then I'll help Shiori!"
Haruhi let out a frustrated sigh but knew there was no time to argue with him. She gripped the ladder and slowly got on. Her whole body was shaking as she looked down. She knew that if she fell from this height, it could kill her. She felt her left grow dizzy from the vertigo, and she almost lost her balance.
"Hey, look at me!" Tachibana tried to calm her. "Keep your eyes on me, alright?"
Haruhi gulped and nodded. She slowly began crawling over to Tachibana. So grateful that Hikaru had brought her this pantsuit, or she didn't know if she would've been able to make it across.
"Come on, come on," Tachibana tried to encourage her. "You're almost there, just a little more."
The ladder moved a bit from the uneven weight, and Haruhi clung on for dear life. She could feel herself beginning to cry as a panic attack was beginning to form. But the sound of Tachibana's soothing voice brought her out of it.
"Keep looking at me, you're almost there."
Haruhi took in a deep breath and continued crawling over to him, and once she reached the window, Tachibana helped her down. She felt like she was about to throw up from finally being over with that, but she had to help her friends.
"Come on!" Haruhi called from the window. "We need to go Shiori!"
Shiori didn't move, she was slowly rocking as she held onto her wound. Trying to take deep breaths through the pain.
"Shiori!" Haruhi tried to get her attention.
Hikaru pushed the desk tighter against the door and rushed over to Shiori. He put her arm over his shoulder and she let out a painfilled cry as he led her over to the window to cross the ladder to safety.
"You have to go first," Hikaru told her as Shiori tried to sit back down.
"I..I can't." She cried.
"You have to go, baby. I'm not leaving you-"
"No!" She cut him off. "Just go, I'll be right behind you."
Hikaru stared into her eyes, tears beginning to trail down his cheeks. Another hard kick at the door moved the desk and they knew they had to get moving. Hikaru grabbed her face and kissed her before heading towards the windowsill and hopping on the ladder. Haruhi knew this was going to be hard for him. Hikaru hated heights. He couldn't even go on the ferris wheel at the amusement park without panicking. She had to keep his attention away from the four-story drop.
"Hikaru, just keep eye contact with me." She told him. His eyes went from the ground to her. She could feel from holding the ladder that he was shaking, but he needed to move. "Keep looking at me, come one."
Hikaru let out a shaky breath and began crawling towards them. There was another loud kick, moving the desk slightly away from the door. Enough room for the killer to peek his head in. He used his arm to slash the air towards Shiori. As if he was stating to her that he was close to killing her.
Haruhi got Hikaru's attention away from the door and was able to get him crawling again. Soon, he was safe on the other side. Once he was on the ground, he collapsed onto his hands and knees as he tried to calm his breathing down.
Haruhi looked back out the window and saw that Shiori had begun climbing onto the ladder. However, once she was on it, she began crying.
"I can't do it." She sobbed. "I can't."
"Come Shiori, just look at us," Haruhi said.
Once Hikaru was able to get his breathing uncontrolled, he rejoined Tachibana and her to encourage Shiori.
"Come on, baby! You can do it!"
With Hikaru's encouragement, it seemed to motivate her more and she slowly began crawling towards them. Haruhi heard another loud kick from the door and saw the killer was able to force his way into the room. The three of them grew silent as they watched the killer make his way over to the window.
Shiori noticed the silence and she turned her head around to see. She let out a scream as the killer came up to the window.
"Shiori you have to go!"
"Go now!"
"Babe, please you need to move!"
They were all screaming at her as she sobbed. "No, please!"
"Please, baby. Please just move!" Hikaru begged.
Shiori began moving again, she was so close enough to barely reach Hiakru's extended hand when she felt herself not being able to move. She looked back and saw that her long black dress was caught on the ladder.
The killer seemed to notice this as well and stuck his knife into the windowsill and grabbed onto the other side of the ladder. Hikaru's eyes widened horrified.
"No, no, no!" He panicked. "Shiori!"
The killer began moving the ladder, making it go up and down as Shiori clung on and sobbed. He was trying to knock her off, but he wanted to play with her first. He wanted to watch the four of them suffer as they tried to save their friend from his sick game.
"I don't want to die!" Shiori sobbed as the ladder kept bobbing.
"You're not going to die, baby. Please, just give me your hand!" Hikaru reached out his hand desperately for her.
She finally seemed to take his offer and reach for his hand, but the killer was growing impatient. He was tired of this game. Instead of going up and down, he was now trying to turn the ladder on its side. To try and throw her off. This made Shiori grab onto the ladder again to regain her balance as the killer shook the ladder even harder. She tried to reach out to her boyfriend again, but the killer was done with this. He pushed the ladder off the windowsill, but before Shiori could fall, Hikaru was able to grab onto her hand.
He let out a pain-filled gasp from the sudden weight on his arm as she clung to him for dear life as she hung in the air. She cried as she used both hands to hold onto him.
"Don't let go of me!" She begged.
"I'm not going to let go of you!"
Haruhi and Tachibana went to Hikaru's sides and tried to aid him in bringing Shiori up, but Haruhi could see that Hikaru's grip was slipping. The blood on both of their hands was making their hands slip. He wouldn't be able to hold onto her for much longer. Haruhi tried to get Shiori to grab onto her hand as well to help her in, but as she tried to reach Haruhi's hand, something changed on Shiori's face.
It went blank, shellshocked as if she had just witnessed something truly horrifying right in front of her before the grip Hikaru had on her slipped. The three of them watched as Shiori fell to the ground. She let out a scream on her way down but instantly went silent when her head hit a dumpster before landing on the floor.
The three just stared at Shiori's body in complete horror at what happened. Her once beautiful face was now caved in and bloodied from where she was hit. Hikaru had his arm still hanging out the window, not able to move.
"Shiori…" He whispered.
Haruhi looked up at the killer, who was just watching them in sick amusement. Once he made eye contact with her, she could tell her was giving her a triumphant smirk before he grabbed his knife and left.
