Wow…This got out of hand for me. I admit this was an experimental one-shot in the beginning, but it spiraled out of control. My pent-up frustrations were disappearing after leaving those Naruto fics alone…Perhaps I got tired of writing Naruto fics and needed a new outlet for passionate writing? It didn't help that you guys around the world had favorited, followed and reviewed and I was obliged to deliver good writing while I am still in the passions of Fate/EX series. I've also learned in Extella Link that Hakunon has a special voice line for Gilgamesh when completing a state with EX rating. "Gorgeous! As expected from my Archer!" It really serves as a catalyst for shipping material there because Gil enjoys Hakunon's hard work and gives her candy. It's fair she compliments him for all his work he puts in as well. Then there's a fact Hakuno is the only one Gilgamesh will ever acknowledge as a Master.
Guda/Gudako are merely his followers, they haven't earned the right to be called his Master compared to what Hakuno risked rescuing him from BB and to awaken his full power and trying to understand the King of Heroes' true nature. After all, he took Hakuno to space in his ending to see the universe itself instead of letting them be deleted!
And finally…it's coming to Netflix. Violet Evergarden: The Movie. I'm going to be bawling at this finale of a girl's tale of understanding the words "I love you." One of the roles that made Yui Ishikawa a rising star and the ideal voice for Hakunon. She went a long way from voicing Mikasa from Attack on Titan to Philia in certain Sword Art Online games to both Female Hakuno and Lostbelt Morgan of the Fate franchise. I look forward to more of her growing success and future roles as a voice actress. Now onto the story!
"She protects the Hearth…"
"Oh~! A Support Mage huh?" Hestia asked in surprise as Hakuno explained her tale to the goddess as the cart they were riding was drawing near to Orario. She was surprised by the fact this girl was from the moon in a different timeline, and she saw only truth as she was sent here against her will. Hestia knew several gods, including Cronos would be better at explaining the timelines due to them having powers over that domain over time. The girl kept a few things hidden, but it was a given, she had no one to rely on and trust. But perhaps one day, Hestia would hear Hakuno's tale completely.
"That's one way of saying it in this world's terms, but I'm starting on branching out to a more offensive style. I just hope my magecraft will be helpful in this world…" Hakuno replied as she was in her own thoughts, recalling the Moon Cell saying that her abilities will be stronger in this place and time. Her answer was obvious now, because this was this timeline's own version of the Age of Gods when magecraft was at its peak. The very air itself had enough mana to disorient her a bit until she was given Hestia's Falna blessing.
She had already been given the Skill Spiritron Boost and the description of it. It worked as a Code Cast and was the reminder of Hakuno's role as a support type magus in the Holy Grail War. The Heroic Spirit Gilgamesh describes it as one who brings out the full potential of familiars, especially Servants since she was able to both utilize his Noble Phantasm at full power and his full treasury in the Gates of Babylon during the numerous attempts to escape from the Far Side.
But she was also in possession of a grimoire written by Morgan le Fay, her own ancestor. And within it, information that will change everything about power.
Thinking back, it was absurd how it happened. A monster attacking her, the first appearance of the black mana. Finding that Morgan le Fay is her ancestor, and a Servant in the Holy Grail War was a bit of a shock. But she left behind a grimoire containing her knowledge of everything she knew.
At first, Hakuno was reluctant on relying on the Witch Queen's spells. But after the stunt leading into the Far Side Incident made her realize if she wanted to protect anyone she cared for again, she must be willing to use everything, including the bloodline she had inherited from her ancestor to save them. And here in this world of monsters and magic, she will use it to help Hestia, her 'Mother'.
She remembered how after being blessed with the Falna, Hestia called Hakuno her child and Hakuno playing along and called her mother, which apparently caused an emotional joy to Hestia as she hugged Hakuno quite tightly that time. Since then, Hakuno has come to refer to Hestia as Mother, because she acted like one with the warmth and care she provided. She wouldn't ever replace Hakuno's birth mother, but it was good to have another after all she had been through with the Moon Cell.
They had arrived at the gates and Hakuno gripped the grimoire in her arm tightly. She was going to become a powerful witch in memory of her ancestor and show this world how a true sorceress casts magic.
Finding Hephaistos was surprisingly easy when asked for directions, as Hestia and Hakuno learned how popular the Hephaistos Familia was in terms of the quality of their gear as they met the god…or rather goddess in this world.
Hakuno shouldn't be surprised but she was. Shinji always mentioned how in certain isekai games he's played that some characters had their gender swapped from their known real-life counterparts for various reasons. Perhaps this was one for Hephaistos as well as the professional began explaining how everything in a Familia works. They would start out as Rank I, the lowest Familia rank and then slowly goes up after many feats and how many members are in one's Familia. Then both Hestia and Hakuno experienced a delightful delicacy made in the world.
The Universal Genius Food Jagamaru-kun!
For Hestia, it was a delighted joy at how culinary arts had evolved over the years. But for Hakuno? It was tears of joy, the joy of finally living in a real world eating real food with real people. It didn't help that she didn't have anything to eat the entire time since she landed in this world. To her, Jagamaru-kun was a food of salvation.
But there was one other problem the newly born Hestia Familia had to deal with, money and shelter. "Mother," Hakuno began, getting Hestia's attention as she looked at her daughter attentively. "We still need a place to live and a stable income." She told her as Hestia winced at that.
"Ah, that's right…This is how it works in the land below." The goddess grimaced as she looked at her friend with a serious look. "Hephaistos, do you know of any available places to live in and any place hiring?" she asked while the smith goddess looked proud at how serious her friend is this time around.
"I can help with that part, but it is important to have an alternative income that earns money faster by adventuring into the Dungeon." She replied as Hakuno looked at her.
"Dungeon…?" Hakuno asked, tilting her head confusingly as her eyes were filled with curiosity. Hephaistos blushed while Hestia glomped Hakuno before the smith goddess quickly regained her composure. That innocent curiosity was lethal weapon not even the smith goddess could ever hope to create with a forge.
"Yes, there is a place called the Dungeon, the main reason Orario was built in the first place. It is a labyrinth full of monsters and rare items that Adventurers dare enter to earn both wealth and fame. By registering with the Guild, you're able to receive money for the magic stones and monster drops you've acquired. Some items are rare enough you can live a good life without money problems by selling them. But that'll be if you reach the Lower Floors first." Hephaistos explained as Hakuno cupped her chin in thought, her head swaying left and right while doing so.
In Hakuno's mind, this sounded way too much of an RPG game Shinji talked about in the preliminaries of the Holy Grail War. This world was like an RPG game itself, but it seemed lighter, softer, gentler than the cold ruthlessness of the Holy Grail War's variation. But the only similarities she must worry about is the fact there are good and bad people…and a whole bunch of weirdos out there ready to stretch her sanity with some crazy antics if BB's actions weren't bad enough.
But for now, she'll register at the Guild and begin her first step towards adventure.
/Supporter (The Weakest)/
Liliruca Arde sighed at another job poorly paid. Every time for as long as she remembered that she had always gotten the short stick when hired as a Supporter by adventurers. Looked down at, insulted, beaten…she's endured this kind of suffering for years and returned that abuse in kind with her own theft of their gear and leaving some to die in the Dungeon. Today on the quest board caught her attention, a newly born Familia had requested a Supporter to help tutor the insides of the Dungeon's floors and serve as a guide. The payment was half of the total earnings.
Lili was skeptical, because despite everything, she at least gets thirty percent of the earnings or none. Seeing as this was going to be a simple task, she took the quest and prepared to make way to Babel Tower where her client was waiting. Sure enough, the pallum found the girl named Hakuno Kishinami.
Dressed in an unusual but elegant uniform, long dark brown hair, light brown eyes, and a rather plain face. But her eyes themselves shone with something that was different in the numerous adventurers Lili had met and worked with. She took note that the girl had a Guild issued spear with her that was brand new. The girl was a definite rookie in terms of adventuring as she lacked even armor to defend herself…
Wait, the quest said the girl was part of a recently started Familia, so they were probably dirt poor. Probably having nothing worth stea─!
The ring on the girl's finger was without a doubt priceless. The craftsmanship on it and the magical properties she can faintly detect in its structure told her this was a one-of-a-kind treasure and could be the key to finally getting her out of the Soma Familia once and for all and have enough to move out somewhere away from Orario.
"Lady Hakuno, am I right?" Lili spoke up, getting the human girl's attention as she looked at the quest slip in the pallum's hand and smiled.
"Ah! You must be the Supporter that took on my request. Thank you very much for agreeing!" the girl said with a polite bow. She was a sweet girl with a lovely voice despite her plainness, and deep inside of Lili she felt anger, resentment, and sadness at the same time when looking at the rookie adventurer. She wouldn't last long in a den of vipers that was Orario with all their vile adventurers and their arrogant greed.
"Liliruca Arde, but please refer Lili as Lili, Lady Hakuno." The pallum politely introduced herself with a formal bow in response as Hakuno agreed.
/
Lili observed Lady Hakuno's patterns in the Dungeon. With the spear, she's obviously rough and had no problem with basic combat movements. But the way her hands were rough and her stances at times signify she's used to wielding a sword instead of a spear and was going on instinct. Picking up magic stones and drops while Lady Hakuno slayed monsters proved to be quite the chore with how skilled the girl was as she was picking up on her spear techniques. They were becoming more fluid, elegant if she'd dare say.
But Hakuno was…disappointed for some reason before the girl turned to her. "Lili. What is the strongest monster right now in the upper floors?" she asked.
Great, some glory hound trying to promote her Familia. Perhaps when the girl is dead, she could take the ring and run for it. "The Goliath of the 17th floor Lady Hakuno. Its magic stone is worth quite a bit given the size of it." The Supporter answered dutifully as Hakuno beamed.
"That's good. It should help with our financial problem for a while." She said before making her way down to the lower floors.
"What." Lili blinked before suddenly rushing after Hakuno with alarm.
/
Now Lili was sure she severely underestimated Hakuno, learning she was secretly a mage of sorts as every monster she fired a spell at died, all while no needing for any chant. "…Huh. So, this place is enriched with mana in it." She once heard the girl say. Lili had no idea what that meant, and Lili was suddenly nervous when Hakuno used black mana and caused a horde of minotaurs to writhe in agony and die.
Death, this girl was going to be the death of her if she made this girl an enemy. Lili may not be well versed in magic, but even Lili knows a curse when she sees one. They were already deep down here on the 14th floor and she's getting chills with the fact she's still with this girl on a suicidal run!
Lady Hakuno wasn't exhausted at all. If anything, she's taking this all like a light breeze walk in the early morning! Something was wrong with Lady Hakuno!
(Truth is, Hakuno was used to treating these monsters as Enemy Programs that could be wiped out with a flick of her wrist after the incident on the Far Side.)
/
As they exchanged the magic stones, including the Goliath one and its tooth that dropped as a piece of loot. The Guild was in an uproar as the advisor, the poor werewolf Rose Fannet, was dealing with Hakuno's request to be anonymous. The woman could only show her displeasure as many adventurers demanded to know which Familia Hakuno belonged to, hoping to recruit her to their own as the witch was respectfully giving Lili her portion of the money. A perfect fifty-fifty.
"Um, Lady Hakuno, why are you giving me half? Usually it's less than that." Lili asked while Hakuno blinked at that before giving the girl a small smile.
"Because I used to be a Supporter like you, but without a Falna. Everyone looked down at me because I was the support role. But there were a few others who generally appreciated my efforts of helping that it paid off today. Seeing you reminded me of those times both good and bad…besides, keeping my word with paying the agreed amount is fair and reveals more about you, Lili." Hakuno replied with a knowing look as Lili flinched at being caught red handed like that. Hakuno placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled. "I look forward to hiring you again Lili." She smiled as the pallum looked at the witch with a newfound respect and understanding.
/Goddesses (Loki and Freya)/
"Here you are, freshly made Jagamaru-kun!" Hestia beamed brightly as she handed the food to her latest customer, only to hear a snickering that sent her good mood down the drain. Red hair, chest flatter than a cutting board, and closed eyes as a smirk that rubbed her the wrong way. Yep, its Loki.
"Heya Chibi! Surprised to see you down here!" Loki greeted while Hestia forced herself to remain composed. She would not let Loki get a rise out of her while she's on the clock. She's a professional now, and there are limits to things one can do and can't do down in this world she has to obey, even Loki has too.
"You here for something to buy, Loki? Because you're holding up the line there." Hestia pointed at the line of people behind Loki who were looking quite impatient, and a few were glaring at the trickster goddess who instantly apologized for making them wait. She had forgotten it was the lunch rush and vowed to come back a bit later.
*A few hours later…*
As Hestia finished off closing shop, she turned to look at Loki that had been sitting nearby snacking on random food stalls nearby until her shift was over. "So…what do you want Loki?" Hestia sighed, already knowing this woman wanted to be a pest to her.
"Came to see how ol' Chibi here is doing after descending. Seeing you working at a stand like this means not well enough." The goddess smirked while Hestia rolled her eyes.
"I at least got one child into my Familia the first five minutes I descended." She retorted as Loki paused at that.
"Seriously? Just like that you got a child?" Loki frowned as she looked at Hestia hard while the small goddess sighed at the trickster goddess' doubt.
"She's a wonderful child, and is very mature that it helps calm me down knowing that she won't be-"
"Did you hear, a girl named Hakuno killed the Goliath in one attack?"
Anything Hestia was going to say died in that instant as Loki looked at the person speaking of such gossip.
"Seriously? With one attack?"
"A black magical attack that pierced its chest right to the core!"
"A mage that can kill a Monster Rex by themselves?! Surpassing the Nine Hells and Thousand Elf!?"
The gossip grew and Hestia felt a surge of dread fill her core. Hakuno was drawing attention from another Familia that will want her for themselves. This was not good at all. She needed to warn her daughter of the mess she made before it gets out of hand.
/
Hakuno walked with a bounce to her step, a pouch full of Valis and a paper bag of sweets as one was in her mouth as she skipped along with a successful day in the Dungeon. Her magic was strong here in this world's version of the Age of Gods, she even used the mana in the very air and inside the Dungeon itself to enhance the already destructive firepower of her spells and it went overkill. Was this what the Moon Cell said by her abilities being augmented?
If it was, then she's going to make sure the Hestia Familia is out of any financial problem at this rate. The Goliath was worth quite a lot for its magic stone and it respawns every two weeks, allowing Hakuno to make a schedule to slay it again in another two weeks. Her first priority now will be finding new clothes for the Dungeon and to fit her new role as a witch. While she was off daydreaming of what she should wear as a witch, she bumped into someone by accident.
"Ah! I'm sorry! I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings!" Hakuno quickly apologized as the robed, hooded woman turned to her and paused for a bit in surprise.
"It's no problem, dear," the woman replied, her voice smooth and alluring at the same time as Hakuno blinked at it. "It's been a while since I've seen a new face here in Orario." She noted as Hakuno blinked at that and nodded her head.
"Ah, right. I just joined a Familia a while back. Just finished a successful hunt in the Dungeon!" Hakuno beamed as the woman smiled at that while staring at Hakuno with interest. "Oh, how about a sweet? To make up bumping into you." Hakuno said, handing on of her purchases to the woman in question.
"Why thank you miss…?"
"Hakuno, Hakuno Kishinami!" the girl smiled cheerfully as she made her way home, waving at the woman while doing so.
"My, my, what an interesting surprise." The goddess Freya mused as she bit into the sweet Hakuno handed her. It was a delectable thing and Freya noted to make sure her Familia get her these every now and then. That Hakuno child really knew her sweets if this was a delicacy even, she can enjoy learning more about this new child in the future.
/The Hearth (Hestia)\
"Haaaaa…Kuuuu…nooooo!" Hestia hissed out as her twin tails flared to life while Hakuno took a step back in their one room in their home. "Why did you go fight a Monster Rex by yourself? In fact, why were you in the lower floors in the first place?!" Hestia demanded while Hakuno winced at the tone.
Yup, mom was angry at her.
"It's surreal Haruhime-dono, but how do you know of any of this?" Mikoto asked while Haruhime paused from her story and smiled at her friend.
"She shared me her memoires, believing I can write a story for future members of the Hestia Familia after she leaves this world, so they know of its beginnings." The Renard answered.
"S-So is the tale of her taking on the Ishtar Familia real…?" Chigusa asked nervously as Haruhime looked happy with that one.
"Ah…my favorite tale! The day I met a hero for the first time!" Haruhime was beaming at this as her eyes were practically sparkling. Now the entire Takemikazuchi Familia and their god had their attention while a wandering knight looked at them, interested in this tale they were listening to.
Next chapter is the long-awaited Ishtar's Downfall chapter. I can practically feel Gilgamesh and Enkidu praising her for this and simp for Hakuno. Hakuno is best girl!
