(WARNING: SPOILERS TO TRIALS OF APOLLO)
(Bonus Scene at the end)
Plot:
Leo closed the garage door and locked it up for the day, while Calypso locked the door to the diner side and switch the opening sign to close.
Leo sigh.
"Been a long day?"
Leo turns around and see his wife, Calypso, wearing her sunny dress after her day at their little diner. She was just as beautiful as the day they met, back on that island.
"Yeah," Leo replied. "Had several orders due today. Luckily, I managed to finish them; but Sunshine, I'm so tired."
Calypso smiled, she won't admit it, but she always loved that nickname.
"Well I hope you still have enough energy for family night."
Leo smiled at her, "Mi amour, no matter what, I always have enough for my family."
He hugged by the waist and kissed her gently.
"Leo, the kids are waiting."
Right on schedule, two young children walked down from the stairs to their apartment upstairs.
"Daddy!" the kids yelled.
Leo and Calypso have an eight-year-old daughter named Zoe Esperanza Valdez and a three-year-old boy named Jason Valdez. When Jason was born, Calypso gave Leo the honor of naming him; and he wanted nothing more than to name him after his best friend.
"Hey kids! Are you ready for family night?" Leo said as the two jumped and hugged him.
"Yeah, I found some fun games we can play as teams," Zoe replied.
Leo smirked, "Oh really? well, I hope you and your mother are ready to lose?"
Whenever it comes to team games, it's always boys versus girls. After the many losses Calypso and Jason was getting from Leo and Zoe teaming up, They decided to split them up. And since then, it was mostly a competition to see who's better, Zoe or Leo.
So far, it's a tie game.
"Hold on you two," Calypso interrupted. "I still need to get the pie out of the oven."
In the end of Calypso's shift at the diner, she made a pie for the family. After leaving the island, she has been looking into more ideas on food and deserts. Right now, she was making some apple pies for family game night.
"Need some help mom?" Zoe asked.
"No mi luz de luna, go outside with your father, I will be with you all, shortly."
Zoe smiled at her nickname. Later on after everything that happened in the first year of Calypso's freedom, she learned how to speak Spanish (She'll deny it that Leo was one of the reasons). Zoe's nickname is Spanish for moonlight. It was ironic for Leo since Calypso's nickname was sunshine and now their daughter is moonlight.
As for Jason...
Well... One time, Jason zapped his sister by mistake when he was on the carpets, dragging his feet around and accidentally collecting electricity.
Zoe once made a joke and called him Sparky.
Unfortunately... Leo saw and heard her. Since then... Zoe calls him that in secret. That way, she doesn't upset her father. It's not that he hates the nickname. It just... it brings a lot of painful memories.
Anyways, the kids and Leo went outside and started prepping up the games at the backyard. Outside, there's a small garden where Calypso tends to. It's filled with either fruits and vegetables for the restaurant and some flowers; A couple of flowers that came from her island. Percy manage to grab some more seeds from the flowers that was growing in his mom's apartment and sent them to their house.
On the other side of the yard was a shed made from Leo. It usually carries some of his tools and Calypso's as well. It's also the place where Festus would rest. Speaking of, Festus is resting at the shed at the moment. The kids were playing with him the whole day while their parents were working. I know, 'why? Isn't it dangerous?'
I mean, if Festus can handle Leo and Calypso, I'm sure he can handle two kids… hopefully.
Calypso walks out the house with a pie on her hands. Fresh from the oven, but still too hot to eat.
"So what are we playing today?"
"Classic bean bag toss. Winners get to try your pie first."
The family began their family game night.
the first game was the bean bag toss, whoever get most of the beanbags into the basket will win. Jason and Leo were winning by a couple points, but Zoe was able bring it back.
by the end of the first game, Zoe and Calypso won.
Second game was a classic game of Uno; same team, same rules. And as always, it was mostly between Leo and Zoe intellectuality. Calypso sigh but smiled at how similar the two are. And feared of future pranks.
At the end of the game, Leo and Jason won.
It was now tied between the two teams and now leaves to one final game.
"Alright," Leo said. "Last game, winners takes all."
"Mom and I are gonna kick your butt, dad. Just you wait and see."
Leo smirked.
"We'll see about that, you little brat."
The last game was definitely a game changer.
A classic round of Connect four.
"Wait!" Zoe yelled. "Mom, you take the lead."
"Are you sure?" Calypso asked. "I know your father, he won't go easy on me."
"I know... so don't hold back," Zoe said with a grinned.
Calypso loves her daughter.
"Alright then."
Calypso took the lead on the game, while Leo and Jason was planning ahead. Leo knows how smart his wife is, even if she doesn't believe it. Sure, being stuck in an island for about three thousand years can make you a bit... behind on studies. But, thanks to Annabeth's tutoring and Calypso's motivation to improve herself, she was getting there.
I know what you're thinking. How are Annabeth and Calypso friends?
That's another story for another time.
Anyways, by the end of the game, Zoe and Calypso won the game.
The two cheered while Leo groaned. Jason though, patted his father for doing his best.
And being proud of him for letting mom win.
But you didn't hear that from any of us.
"Alright," Calypso said. "Pie should be ready to eat now. Let's all grab a plate and take a bite."
The kids cheered and ran to the kitchen to get the plates.
Leo was cleaning up afterwards, picking up all the pieces and putting them away for next game night. Afterwards, he turned on some stereos and played some classic musics in the background.
The four of them sat at a little couch that was placed outside, just enjoying each other's company and talking about how their day went. Zoe and Jason was telling their parents about their drawings they made in their rooms.
"Oh really?" Calypso said. "What did you kids draw?"
Zoe replied that she drew her favorite super hero.
"I drew Iron-man with dad and Festus and they joined together to save mommy."
Leo laughed. He knew how much Zoe loved the marvel movies; and don't get him started over how much emotion was spread in Endgame. Anyways, Zoe was telling her story of her drawing and how Iron man and Leo went to save her mom from the evil "ghost pirates".
Calypso always enjoy listening to her kids imagination; they were able to have the childhood both her and Leo was never gotten.
"That's amazing, sweetie. I'll be sure to put it on the fridge. And you, Jason?" Calypso asked. "What did you draw?"
Jason took out his drawing. It was a pic of four stick people and one blob-like of Festus.
"I drew mommy, daddy, Zoey and me with Festus."
"Aww, that's adorable honey. We'll put it on the fridge too."
The kids played and laughed while Calypso was telling Leo about her day at the diner.
Now, as you know, It was Leo's dream to own a garage. Calypso managed to convince him to make a small diner next to the garage, where those that are doing small check-ups or are picking up their cars. She would get some help from Georgie when she comes and visit. Even Estelle Blofis would help out too when she comes and visit too.
Why Estelle is visiting the Valdez? That's ANOTHER story… an amazing kind of story for another time.
"So, remember the Jeffersons? The one with the SUV?" Calypso asked.
Leo nodded. He remembered they brought their SUV for a quick maintenance. The kids loved the food Calypso made for them, so the family would usually come here once a while.
As Calypso was talking about her day, Leo just smiled.
Never, in his teenage years, did he thought he'd have this. His dream job; his dream girl and his dream family. Sometimes… he fears that this is all a dream and that once he wakes up, he'll be alone again.
Heck, he still wonders how on earth he manage to get a girl like Calypso? They argued a lot after he rescued her from her island. Even when she goes to Band camp, he started having doubts again. Fearing, that he was gonna lose one of the best thing he ever gotten. Luckily, they patched up.
But that didn't stop Leo's concern.
"Leo?"
Leo snapped out of his thoughts.
"Sorry, just dozed off a bit is all."
Calypso replied, "You're probably tired from work and game night. It is getting late though, we should head to bed."
The kids groaned.
"But mom, we're not tired," Zoe replied. Jason nodded to agree with his sister.
"But don't you wanna see Stella? She's coming to visit from New York. I heard she brought presents," Calypso added.
The kids brightened when they heard that. Stella is a nickname for Estelle from her family. She actually likes the nicknamed, especially when it came from her family. Zoe and Jason loves having Estelle around, she would always tell them her stories in New York and her many adventures too.
"Now lets go to bed, or you gonna miss her tomorrow."
The kids got up and went to their room and changed into their pajamas. At the moment, Zoe and Jason are sharing a room until they're old enough to sleep on their own. Of course, Leo already made arrangements for a room for Jason or Zoe to have, he just have to wait until their grown up to sleep on their own without worrying about the boogey man. Anyways, Leo was in charge for today to tuck the kids in for bed; though, he knows just how active his kids are. After all, they are his kids.
Zoe was wearing an iron-man pajama set that made her shirt look like the suit from the movies. As for Jason, he was actually wearing a Captain America set.
This made Leo smiled at how synced his kids are.
"Alright kids, have you brushed your teeth? You know how mom is when you don't."
The kids nodded.
"Good, now, get some sleep. Tomorrow is a big day, we don't want miss any minutes on seeing Stella, do we?"
"Daddy," Jason said. "Why is Aunt Stella coming?"
Leo replied. "She's working on a project back in New York and she asked for help from me and your mom. Aunt Annabeth can't help her with it because it involves… arachnids. And you know how she gets with spiders."
When Percy and Annabeth came to visit with their kids, a spider was spotted in the garage. Annabeth nearly burned down the garage just to get it.
Yeah… there's a lot of fun stories to tell.
The kids laughed at the memory.
"Alright you two, go to bed," He kissed his kids on their foreheads. "I love you."
"We love you 3000," Jason and Zoe said at once.
Leo chuckled. He's never gonna hear the end of the Marvel references. And you know what, he wouldn't have it any other way. He turns off their light and closed the door. He went to the kitchen and saw Calypso cleaning the dishes. He walked behind her and hugged her. Calypso was startled at first, but relax when she noticed it was Leo.
"I had a great time tonight."
Calypso smiled when Leo said that.
"Had a really rough day at work?"
"No… well, kinda. Just… I've been thinking."
"Thinking about what?" Calypso asked.
Leo was quiet for a moment while holding Calypso, then he took a deep breath and replied.
"I'm… I'm so grateful to have you, Calypso."
Calypso stopped washing the dishes and turned to looked at him, he rarely calls her full name unless he has a serious conversation.
"You given me so much. A home, a family, a business together. When I was young, I didn't think that I'd have a home other than the camp. I know that… I haven't been the best boyfriend materials after I rescued you; but, you managed to stay with me. And I love you so much for that." Leo placed his forehead on hers, Calypso stood there and listened. "I just want to say thank you. Thank you for giving me a future. I'm not like any of the heroes before me, but no matter what, I'll always be there for you. Because Sunshine… you deserved the world and more."
Calypso smiled and cupped one of Leo's cheeks with her hand.
"Leonidas Valdez, don't think for moment you owe me anything. You have given me just as much. You gave me my freedom, a family and a home as well. Sure, the island was my home, but it was a lonely prison. Sure we argued a lot; gods, we still do," Calypso chuckled. "But that wouldn't stop me from loving you. Because Leo… you were the one and only hero, who loves me back. And you know what, if I had go through living that island for another three thousand years I'd do it again. Because if it means I can be with you again, I would. Gods… everyday I fear of waking up and being back on that island. But when I look at you every morning, I feel truly alive and free."
Calypso kisses Leo lovingly. No matter how much they kiss, Leo can not get enough of it.
"So, are we good now?"
Leo smiled and nodded.
"Good," Calypso said. She escaped from Leo's grasped and headed toward their bedroom.
"I'm gonna go take a shower and get ready for bed."
"Good idea," Leo said and nodded as he watch her walked to their bedroom. She stopped midway and looked at him.
"And you're gonna join me."
Leo nearly died right there. His feet nearly collapse at her suggestion.
"Better," he said. "But, just gotta check one thing downstairs. It'll be quick."
Calypso replied, "Well you better hurry, I'm not gonna waste the hot water to wait you know."
She disappears into their room and all Leo can think of was, "I love family night."
A/N: Hope you like the story. I know I wasn't creative on the kids names. But I just felt like it was nice names for them. Also, that Estelle story is a fanfic I'm gonna write. It's a trilogy idea I want to make and yes, it's marvel-based. Hope you enjoyed the one-shot. And here's a cool bonus I wanted to add. I figured, "lets see if we can give you future writers some fun fanfic ideas." Anyways, I hope you also enjoy this bonus scene. Made it just for fun and… I just love crossovers. XD
Bonus:
Leo enters the garage and spoke.
"Okay Talos, don't got a lot of time. The wife is waiting upstairs so give me a quick update."
Suddenly, the room lights up and the floor suddenly opens a big door.
"Welcome back, sir." A voice spoke in the room.
I know what you're thinking. Did Leo Valdez make his own Jarvis? Long story short, yes. It is called the Talking Automated Lethal Operating System, or TALOS for short. Yes, it was Leo's idea. TALOS is an automated security system that provides protection to his home.
Don't forget, Leo is a Demigod and Calypso was an immortal titan goddess. Therefore, there's a chance that monsters will attempt to attack.
Leo came prepared though. As the floor opens, a staircase arrives and underground, was a big room filled with tools and materials. At the end of the room was displays of suits.
Suits made of armor.
"I am please to report that the latest suit is nearly complete. It will be fully protected from magic of any kind. And be able to withstand any attacks from the monsters. To a certain amount of course."
"Good," Leo said. "Remind me to thank the Kanes for their help by sending them a gift."
"Sir," TALOS asked. "Why do you intend to make these? The area is heavily secured and there's been no activity as of lately."
"But what about outside of our home? You can't be around to protect us."
Leo walks toward his latest project.
"But I can."
"Sir?"
"Talos… I finally have a home… a family. And the moment Zoe was born, I vowed I'd do whatever it takes to protect my family from any danger."
Leo looks back at his desk and saw his picture frame on the desk. In the frame was a picture of him, Piper and Jason when they finished their first quest together.
"I won't fail again."
"Understood sir. I will notify once the Ultima Armor is complete and ready for combat."
Leo smiled. He named his latest suit of armor, The Ultima Armor, as a reference to Final Fantasy. He will never forget the time he and Calypso played Final Fantasy VII together. Leo walks out of his workshop as the floor closes the entrance.
"Thank you, Talos. Now, if you don't mind," Leo started heading upstairs. "The misses is waiting on me."
