Beach day in California is the best. Especially when it's summer.

"Come on, dad!" Zoe yelled as she and her brother, Jason Valdez, dragged their dad who's carrying the heavy load of their beach stuff while his wife, Calypso, was holding the bags of snacks and towels.

"más despacio, niños," Calypso said. "We have plenty of time to play, we need to set up first."

"But mom," Zoe replied, "We rarely go to the beach!"

Leo laughs as he intervenes, "Go play with the kids, Sunshine. I'll make the blankets and set up our spot."

"You just want to see me in my swimsuit, don't you?" Calypso said with an unamused tone.

Leo smirked, "That's a bonus."

Calypso rolls her eyes but smiles. She sets the stuff down as she begins putting sunscreen on the kids, since they rarely stay still in their vacation home back in New Rome. Leo sets up their spot and watches his family having fun. It's been ages since he was able to relax and have fun with the family. With business booming on both the auto-shop and diner, it's been getting harder to plan days like this. But Leo found a way, with the help of his business partner (and wife), Calypso. Still, he can't help but reminisce about the time when everyday he was struggling to have a normal life while being a demigod, especially his relationship with Calypso. And don't get me started on his trauma.

But, in the end, he endured it all, with the help of his friends, some therapy sessions and most of all, the love of his life.

"Dad!" Jason called. "Come on!"

He chuckles as he watches his five-year old son calling out to him to play on the water.

"I'm coming!" Leo replied as he passed by his wife and daughter, making a sandcastle. As Leo heads to the beach, Zoe asks her mom, "Hey mom? You used to live by the beach, right?"

Calypso replied to her ten year old daughter, "I have, sweetie. It was where I met your father a long time ago."

"Why did you leave?"

"Because… It was a lonely place. Many have come and gone but none would like to stay with me. Until I met your father, of course."

Zoe frowned, "But how come dad didn't stay with you?"

Calypso smiled and replied, "Because, sweetie, your father had a life outside that island along with friends. He needed to go back. But, he did promise me a life together. And he was the only one to ever think of a future with me. And the only one to ever come back."

Zoe's eyes shine brightly, "You think I'd ever find my hero, mom?!"

Calypso laughs, "Someday sweetie, just don't tell your father, or he'll have a say in the matter."

The girls giggles and continue on working on their sandcastle. Later, the family relaxes by the blankets and umbrella. As the kids ate, Leo and Calypso enjoyed the scenery. It felt like a dream come true to finally have this peace and quiet they yearned for. Of course, Leo is not fond of staying still due to his ADHD; but he's managing. As a father, children require 100% of his attention. Especially children with his genes.

"This is kind of nostalgic, isn't it?" Calypso asked.

"What do you mean, Sunshine?"

"Well, the last time we were at the beach, it was at Ogygia."

"Oh yeah," Leo remembers, "It was the night we had our first kiss."

Calypso smirked. "Really? That's all you remember? Because what I remembered was you proposing to me."

Leo stuttered, "W-what?! When?!"

"Don't you remember? You said you couldn't make our dreamshop without me. You couldn't make a decent stew. And you surely can't sing, I knew that from your showers."

Leo laughs as he cuddles with his wife.

"Oh? So you consider that to be my proposal?!"

Calypso raised an eyebrow.

"You don't? Your other proposal was a disaster."

"You said yes!"

"And now my favorite yogurt place was burned down!"

You're probably wondering what happened. Well, sadly, I wasn't there so I don't know.

Leo rolls his eyes, "It was rebuilt later on."

"That's not the point," Calypso sighs. "I swear, you can be quite a handful."

As she spoke, Leo kissed her by the neck with love and affection.

"Ah, but you love me, right?"

She didn't say anything, but she was smiling regardless. Time has passed and the children have finished eating.

"Dad? Can Jason and I go play now?" Zoe asked.

"Alright, but stay close to where we can see you, okay?"

Zoe and Jason nodded and ran off to the shores. The kids were having the time of their life, unaware of the fact that they're still demigods, just like Leo. Despite Calypso no longer immortal, she's still a Titan goddess. Therefore, there's still a chance of monsters attacking nearby.

Though it's a good thing that the beach was still within New Rome's Barrier.

"Hey, Calypso?" Leo spoke.

Calypso frowned and replied. He rarely calls her name unless it's a serious conversation.

"What is it, Leo?"

Leo was silent as he contemplated what he's about to say, but no matter what, he needs to know.

"Did you miss it?" He asked.

"What?"

"I mean… Do you miss it?"

Leo hesitated to ever ask such a question, but he can't help it. Sure the island was her prison; but it has been her home for nearly 3,000 years. To be taken away from it so suddenly and with little time to say goodbye and explore a whole new world can be a lot, especially for a goddess like Calypso.

"Do I miss Ogygia?" Calypso asked.

"Yeah."

Calypso laughed and leaned her head toward Leo.

"I won't lie, there's been occasions where I wonder about Ogygia for quite a while. Especially when I was in Band Camp a while back."

Leo recalls those days. He hates it because it was those days he was at his lowest; the fact that she still gives him a chance to love her was a miracle itself.

"I did miss hearing the silent breeze of the sea; the scent of the tree's near my garden and don't get me started on my fountain. Oh, how I missed it. I always enjoyed resting by that fountain."

"Really?" Leo asked.

Calypso nodded and continued, "But, I don't regret leaving. Not one bit. Not when I was given everything I ever wanted."

"And what's that?" Leo asked.

"A future," Calypso replied. "You gave me everything and so much more, Leo Valdez. You gave me a career, a home, a family and so much more. Sure I miss the ocean and my old garden and my cave and such. But If I was given the chance to do it all over again, I'd still go with you."

Leo smiles as he kisses Calypso's head as they watch their kids play by the water.

Later, they heard the Jackson family just arriving at the beach. The two families spent most of the day relaxing. The kids were playing together while Calypso and Annabeth talked about their daily lives. It's weird to Leo and Percy to see them get along, you'd expect them to want to kill each other after that whole crush on Percy fiasco. But, they became like sisters.

Those two would talk about everything, what the weather is like to the latest book series they read. It was crazy, but Percy and Leo are glad they're getting along; otherwise it'd be very awkward family gatherings yearly. Then again, that's family for you.

The kids on the other hand are having fun with many game activities. From playing by the shores to playing water guns and shooting frisbees. The kids have known each other for as long as they can remember. Despite none of the parents being blood relatives (on their mortal sides, godly blood doesn't count), they were practically family.

"So," Percy said as he handed Leo a drink, "How's it going with you, Leo?"

"To be honest…" Leo looks ahead as he sees his family laughing and having fun. "It's going great. If you told me back then that I was going to marry an amazing goddess and have two wonderful children, I'd call you a crazy nutjob."

Percy and Leo chuckles.

"But, after everything… I'm finally happy and at peace."

Percy nodded in agreement.

"Still, I tend to wonder about…"

"...Me too, Leo…" Percy replied. "I miss him too. We all do."

Leo takes a deep breath and continues to enjoy the rest of the day. Don't let his grin and attitude fool you. Despite who he is, Leo is still fighting his demons. He's still trying to accept the reality that his best friend is dead, his mother's death wasn't his fault and that he has cheated death. It may not seem like something to worry about considering that they all know that there's an afterlife. But the dying part was something you rarely escape unscathed. Even Percy understands that; he barely escaped from Tartarus and he and Annabeth are still facing nightmares about it. If it weren't for Calypso and his friends, he wouldn't be the man he is right now.

"Leo!" Calypso called out. "The kids are almost done drying up! Time to pack up!"

Leo replied and started to pack everything up, along with Percy as Calypso and Annabeth took care of the kids. Jason was getting sleepy due to him having too much fun.

After they finish cleaning up, Annabeth suggests meeting up at the Valdez vacation home so that they can continue talking. Calypso agreed and the boys shrugged and nodded. They know better than to deny their wives' requests.

After they finished up packing, Leo walked over to his family and picked up the sleepy Jason.

"Hey, Sunshine?"

"Yes?" Calypso replied.

"Thanks… for everything."

Calypso smiles and kisses him by the cheek, "I should be saying that to you, dummy."

Leo laughs as the family starts heading back home.

"Also, for the record," Leo whispered to her ear. "You look really hot in that swimsuit, babe."

Author's Note:

Wow, it's been a while hasn't it? Sorry about that; I was more focused on my main project, Estelle and The Mark of Arachnid. If you haven't read it yet, check it out! It's basically my own Spider-sona in the PJO universe. So far it's going good but now I'm getting to the real good parts. Anyways, I still have plenty of more stories for Leo and Calypso since they're basically my OTP (beside Percy and Annabeth, of course) and I need to work on my romance writing for future projects. Next story will most likely be a three-part and it'll take place in a Marvel's Universe. Which one? That's a surprise. Hope you enjoyed it and until the next update.
