I loved the Castle TV show. I enjoy Rick and Kate in ff. I also love the Lanie character and am yet to read a Kate and Lanie fanfic pairing, so I decided to write my own. If you do not like lady loving lady stories then don't bother to read my story. This is an AU version of the Castle TV show with several 'one shots' in which Kate and Lanie are married with twin daughters.

Set during/after the scene in Killshot where Kate's PTSD is out of control and she cuts herself on glass in her apartment. For the purposes of this fic Kate's 47 seconds confession has already happened and they're both dealing with that. Possible warning: mental health.

Rick Castle is an officer with the Galactic Commonwealth Fleet Marines, Kate Beckett is a fleet surgeon. In events prior to this story, Kate saved Ricks life after he was critically wounded in battle. They meet at a dance while he is on embassy guard duty. This story opens a few months later.
