Chapter 32: Pursuit of Self

The Kill Orochimaru team walked through the gates of Konoha, the weight of their mission hanging heavily on their shoulders. Each step was a reminder of the battles fought, the lives lost, and the victory that tasted more like ash than triumph. They carried with them the sealed corpses of Kabuto and Manda, physical proof of their success. But the cost was evident in their eyes.

Inuzuka Kiba.

As they made their way to the Hokage's office, the team exchanged quiet conversations, their voices filled with a mix of relief and lingering tension. Sasuke walked beside Haku, his expression as stoic as ever, but his hand occasionally brushed hers, a silent comfort between them. Haku, her usually calm demeanor slightly cracked, glanced at Sasuke, finding solace in his presence.

"I'm probably not supposed to walk with you guys," Haku said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's against protocol."

Sasuke's eyes softened momentarily. "It'll be fine for once. Just… stay close."

Not far behind them, Naruto and Sakura walked side by side. Naruto's usually bright demeanor was subdued, but he still managed a small smile for Sakura. "Sakura-chan, it's good to be back isn't it?"

Sakura nodded, her green eyes reflecting the complex emotions swirling within her. "Hai, Naruto-kun. It's good to be home. Thank the sages that we made it."

Naruto's face turned serious. "I'll never forget what happened. The redemption arc starts now."

Sakura reached out, squeezing his hand. "We'll figure it out. One step at a time."

Hinata and Goku trailed behind the rest of the team, their conversation carrying a lighter, yet equally meaningful tone.

"It's a relief to be back," Hinata said, her voice firm yet gentle. "We've been through so much."

Goku, usually carefree, nodded with a rare seriousness. "I'm just glad we're safe, that you're safe. That's what matters to me."

Hinata smiled, a warmth in her eyes. "You've been a pillar for us, can't say it enough."

The Saiyan rubbed the back of his head, a bashful smile spreading across his face. "I just did what I could. You were amazing out there, Hinata. Strong and brave, a lot more efficient than me."

Hinata's eyes sparkled with appreciation. "Arigato Goku. It means a lot coming from you."

Their conversation was interrupted as they reached the Hokage's office. The team straightened up, their expressions shifting to one of professional readiness. They knew what awaited them inside—a long debriefing with the Konoha council.

As they entered, the atmosphere was thick with anticipation. The council members—Tsunade, Danzo, Koharu, and Homura—sat behind a large table, their expressions a mix of sternness and expectation. The room was silent except for the soft murmur of the team's footsteps.

Tsunade's gaze swept over the group, her eyes lingering on each member, assessing their physical and emotional state. She could see the mental exhaustion etched into their faces, the subtle signs of their recent ordeal.

"Welcome back," Tsunade said, her voice steady and authoritative. "You've completed your mission, but I can see it wasn't without cost."

The team nodded collectively, a silent acknowledgment of the truth in her words. They stood as a collective before the council, waiting for the debrief to begin.

Danzo's cold eyes narrowed as he observed the group. Having analyzed the scrolls before the debriefing upon receiving them from Haku, he began. "You've brought back the evidence we needed," he stated, his voice lacking any hint of empathy. "Kabuto and Manda's corpses will serve their purpose. But I'm more interested in hearing about the mission's execution."

Koharu leaned forward, her gaze sharp. "We need a detailed report. Leave nothing out."

Homura's expression was one of stern expectation. "This mission was critical. We need to understand every aspect of it."

As the council members spoke, the team exchanged glances, mentally preparing themselves for the exhaustive debriefing that awaited them. Each of them carried their own thoughts and feelings, their own burdens and reflections on what had transpired.

Tsunade's gaze softened slightly as she observed the team's readiness. She knew the toll this mission had taken on them, and she respected their resilience. "Before we begin, I want to acknowledge your efforts. You've done well, despite the circumstances."

The team stood a little straighter at her words, feeling a mix of pride and sorrow. They had accomplished their mission, but the cost was still fresh in their minds.

"We'll start with the debriefing shortly," Tsunade continued. "For now, take a moment to collect yourselves."

The Kill Orochimaru team took a moment to breathe and get their alibi's in order, not eager to recount and explain every detail of the mission but knowing they had no say in the matter. What a drag. They still stood before the Konoha council, the atmosphere heavy with tension. The four council members sat behind a large table, their expressions a mix of sternness and expectation.

The Godaime Hokage observed the team one last time before speaking. "Report."

Shikamaru, as the leader of the team, stepped forward to begin the long, detailed debrief. The chunin's voice was steady as he began, recounting the mission's events with meticulous detail. "Our mission started with the infiltration of Otogakure. We engaged multiple enemy combatants, including Kabuto, Kimimaro, Suigetsu, Jugo, and Karin. Our primary objective was to eliminate Orochimaru and dismantle his operations."

Tsunade nodded, her eyes never leaving Shikamaru. "And did you completely achieve this objective?"

Shikamaru continued, his tone unwavering. "Yes, Hokage. Orochimaru and his forces were eliminated. Kabuto and Manda were also dealt with. Haku sealed their bodies as evidence, as previously stated. However, the mission came at a great cost. Kiba... did not make it."

A somber silence fell over the room. Tsunade's gaze softened, but her voice remained firm. "I see. You've all done well under the given circumstances."

Despite her praise, no one on the team seemed able to accept it. The loss of their comrade overshadowed any sense of accomplishment.

Goku, standing beside Hinata, couldn't hold back his thoughts any longer.

"Why did we have to kill everyone there?" the boy's voice cut through the silence, filled with frustration. "Why destroy everything that disagrees with us? Retaliation and revenge can only go so far."

Danzo's cold eyes fixed on Goku. "If you cannot understand why certain missions are given, you don't understand the first thing about being a shinobi. Konoha is your home, and it is your duty to protect it with your very life."

Goku's gaze didn't waver. "I understand protecting the innocent, but this constant arms race, the need to get over on someone else, it's bad, really really bad. I don't want nothing to do with it."

Koharu leaned forward, her gaze sharp. "Your loyalty is in question, Goku. Protecting Konoha sometimes means making difficult decisions and putting aside all emotion."

Shikamaru stepped in, his tone measured but firm. "The people we were ordered to kill were no different than us. They were victims of circumstance. They deserved a chance to live and be free from Orochimaru's control, to be more than just tools or statistics."

Naruto, his hands clenched into fists, couldn't stay silent. "We're supposed to be better than this. If we keep killing without question, what makes us different than the enemy?"

Hinata, standing beside Goku, nodded in agreement. "Son Goku is right. We should aim to rise above hatred and violence. If we stoop to those levels, we will lose our humanity."

Danzo's voice was icy. "Idealism has no place in the shinobi world. We do what we must to survive and protect our village."

Goku's eyes blazed. "I don't wanna do your bidding anymore. The system is trash. I'd rather find another way to make a difference."

Tsunade, her gaze softening slightly, addressed the young Saiyan. "Your intentions are noble, Goku, but as Hokage, I have to consider the wellbeing of Konoha above all else."

Naruto spoke up again, his voice filled with conviction. "And when I become Hokage, I'll change this system. I'll make sure we don't always have to kill to protect what we love."

The Godaime's expression was firm. "Naruto, remember that being Hokage means making hard decisions. It's not just about ideals; it's about protecting our village at all costs."

Sasuke, who had remained silent, finally spoke, his voice low but clear. "Goku's right. Killing without reason makes us no better than our enemies... no better than Orochimaru or that man."

Haku, her eyes filled with resolve, added, "We need to give people a chance to change, to break free from their circumstances. I'm an example of that, personally."

Danzo's gaze hardened specifically toward Goku. "If you question your loyalty, you are a threat to Konoha."

Hinata's voice was steady. "Son Goku is not a threat. He's a protector, someone who believes in doing what's right. If we can't see that by now, we're blind."

To become a pillar...

The council room was tense, the air thick with the weight of the conversation. Each team member's words reflected their inner turmoil, their struggle to reconcile their duty with their morals.

Shikamaru took a deep breath, his voice carrying the weight of their collective experiences. "The people we fought were no different from us. They were victims of a corrupt system, just like we could be. We ought to give them a chance to live, to be more than just pawns in a larger game."

The room fell silent, Shikamaru's words hanging in the air. The team's reflections on their mission, their losses, and their beliefs were clear. They had faced the darkness, and now they were challenging the very foundations of what it meant to be a shinobi.

Shikamaru's gaze met Tsunade's, his resolve evident. "We need to be more than just soldiers. We need to learn to be humans first, and shinobi second."

The room remained tense as Shikamaru finished his statement. Tsunade leaned back in her chair, her expression thoughtful. "Goku, I understand where you and your team is coming from. Your point of view is valid, but as Hokage, I can't prioritize sentimental values over the wellbeing of Konoha. Our duty is to protect the village, even if it means making morally deprived decisions."

Naruto, his frustration palpable, stepped forward. "Goku's right, Tsunade-baachan. We can't keep killing everyone who disagrees with us. There has to be a better way."

Tsunade's eyes softened, but her tone remained firm. "Naruto, unfortunately this is what being the Hokage entails."

Sakura, standing beside Naruto, opened her mouth to speak but hesitated. Her courage faltered in the face of the council's stern gazes. She squeezed Naruto's hand instead, silently offering her support.

"I quit."

Unexpectedly, Shikamaru stepped forward, unfastening his chunin vest and hitai-aite from his arm. In those two words his was voice devoid of its usual lazy drawl. He placed the vest and hitai-aite on the table before turning to leave the room.

The room erupted into murmurs of shock and disapproval. Danzo's voice cut through the noise, cold and precise. "Son Goku, this is what happens when you fill your team's heads with idealistic nonsense. You've led them astray from the shinobi code."

Naruto slammed his hand down on the table, the sound echoing through the room. "That's not true! I'm telling you when I become Hokage, I'll change the system from the ground up! Dattebayo"

Sasuke, standing off to the side, remained silent. His focus was on his personal vendetta against Itachi, and this confrontation held little interest for him. He glanced at Haku, who stood rigidly, her loyalty to the Anbu preventing her from voicing any further dissent.

Hinata, her voice calm but firm, spoke up. "The reasons for our missions often stem from selfishness and greed. If the powers that be could put their egos aside and work together for a greater cause, people like Kiba-san wouldn't have to die for pointless reasons."

Koharu's eyes narrowed. "Loyalty and love are the easiest ways to exploit someone, to take advantage when the opportunity arises. This is why the shinobi code is strict."

The girl's gaze didn't falter. "Exploiting loyalty and love only creates more pain and suffering. We should be better than that."

Danzo's tone said it all. "Too bad the shinobi world cares not for being the better man. We do what we must be done, without question."

Goku's voice was calm but resolute. "I don't care, I wanna find another way."

Koharu's eyes were cold. "Balancing ideals with reality is a dangerous game. We can't afford to be naive."

Hinata's voice was steady. "It's not about being naive. It's about being better than our enemies."

Danzo's tone remained harsh. "Strength and survival are what matter. Emotions and ideals only weaken us."

Sasuke and Haku still remained silent, they both knew where their loyalties lay.

Tsunade's expression was one of deep contemplation. "Goku, Hinata, Naruto, your passion is clear. But remember, the safety of Konoha is paramount. We must protect our village, especially in times like these."

Naruto's voice was filled with resolve. "We can protect Konoha without losing ourselves. We have to."

The council members exchanged glances, their expressions a mix of skepticism and contemplation.

Danzo's eyes narrowed. "Belief is not enough. We need action, strength, and decisiveness."

Goku's gaze was steady, his voice calm. "Then we need to change the way we think about strength. It's not just about power."

The room fell silent once more, the council members deep in thought. The Kill Orochimaru team had presented a challenge to the very foundation of their beliefs, a call for change that resonated deeply.

However, it was still entirely unacceptable.

Danzo's eyes narrowed, his voice cold and calculating. "Can you maintain those ideals and still be a force for Konoha when needed for operations, Son Goku?"

Goku's expression hardened. "I'm done asking or answering these questions. Being shinobi this past year was enough for me."

With a determined motion, he snatched his hitai-aite off and laid it on the table. The silence that followed was deafening.

Before Goku could leave, the wood of the table and in his surroundings transformed, constricting his movements.

From the shadows, Tenzo emerged, his face grim. "Danzo-sama's orders," he said quietly.

Danzo stood, his presence commanding. "If you're not for Konoha, you're against Konoha. Any enemy within our walls must be treated accordingly." He signaled, and several ROOT Anbu members appeared, their intent clear.

Tsunade's eyes widened in shock and fury. "Stand down! That's an order!"

But ROOT obeyed Danzo as if he were God. The air grew colder, and an ice shard flew across the room, stopping the Anbu members in their tracks. Haku immediately stepped in front of Goku, her eyes screaming defiance.

Sasuke's Sharingan activated in response, his glare menacing anyone who dared move closer to Haku.

"Touch her, and you'll regret it," he said, his voice low and dangerous.

Hinata joined them, her stance firm. "Son Goku won't fight alone. If you come for him, you come for us."

Naruto and Sakura exchanged conflicted glances. Naruto's heart ached with the desire to support his friend, but his dream of becoming Hokage weighed heavily on him. Sakura, torn between her loyalty to the team and the reality of their situation, hesitated.

Danzo's gaze remained almost as icy as Haku's kekkei genkai, his voice a command. "Anbu, eliminate the traitor."

Haku's voice was like steel. "You'll have to go through me first." She glanced back at Sasuke, who nodded slightly, his silent vow of support clear.

The Uchiha's eyes narrowed further, his voice a deadly whisper. "I dare you to try."

Hinata's Byakugan activated, her stance ready for combat. "This isn't just about orders; it's about doing what's right."

Naruto's internal conflict raged. "Goku…" he began, but the words caught in his throat.

Sakura's hand tightened on Naruto's arm. "Naruto-kun, we have to think about the future. If we act now, we might jeopardize everything we're working towards."

Goku looked at his friends, his heart swelling with gratitude and determination. "You don't have to do this. This is my fight."

Hinata's voice was unwavering. "Nope, we're in this together. Your fight is my fight."

Danzo's frustration grew, his voice sharp. "You're all willing to throw away your futures for one man?"

Sasuke didn't respond to the question, but his position remained unchanged.

Haku's voice was filled with resolve. "Son Goku saved our lives multiple times. We owe him that much."

Hinata nodded. "This isn't about disloyalty. It's about integrity."

Danzo's eyes flicked to the ROOT Anbu. "If you won't stand down, then you're complicit in his treachery."

Sasuke's eyes darkened, his Mangekyo Sharingan threatening to take form. "I'd like to see you try to enforce that."

Haku's ice shards floated menacingly around her. "We won't back down."

The tension was palpable, each side ready to spring into action. The council room had become a battlefield of ideals, each person's resolve tested.

Tsunade's voice cut through the tension. "Enough! This isn't how we solve things. We're better than this."

Danzo's voice was laced with scorn. "Hokage-sama, if you won't act, then I will. Konoha's safety is my priority."

Goku's voice was calm but firm. "This isn't about safety, Danzo. This is about power. You can't control everything through fear."

Danzo's expression didn't change, but his eyes glinted with a dangerous light. "You're naive, Son Goku. The world isn't as simple as you'd like it to be."

Hinata stepped forward, her voice clear and strong. "Goku isn't naive. He's strong enough to believe in something greater. We've seen what your idea leads to: more pain, more suffering. Why would we keep repeating the cycle?"

Haku's ice shards shimmered in the dim light. "We fight for each other, not for power."

Danzo's eyes narrowed as he scrutinized the group before him. His voice, cold and authoritative, cut through the tension. "Hinata, Sasuke, Haku. Do you officially side with Son Goku?"

Hinata stepped forward, her voice steady and unwavering. "Yes, I do. Goku saved our lives and protected us when no one else could. He is not a villain."

Haku's eyes blazed. "Goku personally saved my life and the lives of everyone here. He's shown nothing but courage and integrity. Please, listen to reason."

Danzo's expression hardened. "Is that so?"

Sasuke's gaze was sharp, his voice cutting through the room like a blade. "Without Goku, Orochimaru would be destroying Konoha right now. He killed him when none of us could. If you can't see his value, you're blind."

Before the Anbu could move in further, Haku's ice shards flew, creating a barrier between the Anbu and their targets. Sasuke's Sharingan focused, ready to strike at a moment's notice. Hinata's Byakugan scanned for any sign of movement.

Naruto's voice, filled with frustration, finally broke free. "Stop this! This isn't what we stand for!"

Sakura's eyes were filled conflict. "Naruto-kun…"

The blonde looked at her, his voice breaking. "Sakura-chan, this isn't right. We can't let this happen."

Sakura's resolve wavered, her heart torn between her duty and her feelings. "Naruto-kun, I…"

Tsunade's voice, filled with authority, cut through the chaos. "Danzo, this is an order: Stand down. I will not allow this room to become a battlefield."

Danzo's eyes narrowed. "You're making a mistake, Hokage-sama."

Tsunade's gaze was unyielding. "No, Danzo. You are. This isn't the way we protect our village."

The ROOT Anbu hesitated, their loyalty torn between their orders and the authority of the Hokage.

The tension in the room was suffocating.

Goku's voice was calm, but there was a steely resolve behind it. "I'm not your enemy, Danzo. But I won't be your puppet, either."

Danzo's frustration was evident, but he didn't give the order to attack. Instead, he glared at the Hokage. "This isn't over."

Tsunade's expression softened slightly, but her voice remained firm. "For now, it is. We will discuss this further, but not like this."

Hinata's all-seeing Byakugan then pivoted to the bandaged Danzo... what?!

No way. She had to say something!

The girl gasped, her eyes widening in shock. "Sasuke, Haku—look at his arm!"

Sasuke turned his gaze towards Danzo, noticing the faint outline of Sharingan eyes embedded in his arm with his own acute eyes. His anger flared, and his Sharingan immediately morphed into the Mangekyo.

"What is that, Danzo? Explain yourself!"

Danzo remained silent, his expression unreadable. Sasuke's frustration grew, his voice rising. "I said, explain yourself!"

Tsunade's eyes narrowed, her voice demanding. "Danzo, what is the meaning of this?"

Danzo's lips pressed into a thin line. "This is a matter of village security."

Sasuke's Mangekyo Sharingan spun dangerously. "Don't lie to me. I can see it. You've been hiding something. Those eyes—they belong to my clan!"

Danzo's stoic mask remained, but there was a flicker of something darker beneath the surface. "These measures were necessary for the protection of Konoha."

Sasuke's hand crackled with the ominous energy of a Chidori, his rage barely contained. "Necessary? You desecrated my clan's eyes for your own gain! How dare you?"

Haku, sensing the imminent danger, quickly moved to Sasuke's side. She grabbed his wrist, her touch gentle but firm. "Sasuke-kun, wait. We need more information first."

Sasuke's eyes never left Danzo's, but he allowed the Chidori to dissipate, his anger still simmering just below the surface.

"This isn't over, Danzo. I will get to the bottom of this."

Danzo's gaze remained icy. "You are treading dangerous ground, Uchiha."

Hinata's eyes were fierce, her Byakugan still active. "If you have nothing to hide, then explain yourself."

Danzo's face remained impassive. "My actions are for the greater good of Konoha. Sometimes, difficult choices must be made."

Goku, who had been watching the exchange silently from his imprisoned position, finally spoke, his voice calm but filled with resolve. "There's no greater good in using the dead to gain power. This is clearly about way more than just Konoha's safety."

Naruto, still struggling with his internal conflict, finally found his voice. "Danzo, this isn't right. We can't protect Konoha by destroying what it stands for."

Sakura, her hand still on Naruto's arm, nodded. "Naruto-kun is right. If we sacrifice our principles, what's left to protect?"

Danzo's eyes were cold. "Principles won't save us from our enemies. Only strength will."

Hinata's voice was filled with conviction. "Strength without integrity is meaningless. We need to be better than those we fight against."

Sasuke's eyes remained locked on Danzo. "You've crossed the fucking line, Danzo. This won't go unanswered."

Haku's voice was gentle but firm. "We need to uncover the truth, Sasuke-kun. But we can't act rashly."

Sasuke's gaze softened slightly as he looked at Haku. "I understand, Haku. But this isn't over."

Tsunade's voice broke through the tension, her authority undeniable. "Danzo, you owe us an explanation. Now."

Danzo's eyes flicked to Tsunade, a calculating look in his gaze. "Every action I take is for the protection of Konoha. Sometimes that means making sacrifices others won't understand."

Sasuke's eyes burned with rage once more. "You don't get to decide that on your own. You don't get to use my clan's eyes for your twisted purposes."

Naruto's voice rose with passion. "We can be strong without becoming monsters. That's what being a shinobi should mean."

Sakura nodded in agreement. "We fight to protect our own, not to dominate."

Danzo's gaze swept over the group, his eyes hardening. "You are naive. The world isn't as simple as you wish it to be. Strength and control are necessary."

Sasuke's Mangekyo Sharingan flared again, his voice deadly. "I'll show you strength."

Haku's touch on his wrist was gentle but grounding. "Sasuke-kun calm down. Not now, not like this."

Sasuke's eyes remained locked on Danzo, his voice low and dangerous. "Mark my words, I will learn the truth."

The room fell silent, the weight of the confrontation hanging heavily in the air. The battle lines were drawn, not in blood but in ideals and convictions. Each person stood firm in their beliefs, ready to fight for what they knew was right. As the immediate threat passed, the council members and the team knew that this confrontation was far from over. The ideals they fought for would continue to challenge the very foundation of what it meant to be a shinobi in Konoha.

The tension in the room remained, but the immediate threat of violence dissipated. Each person knew that the fight for their ideals had only just begun. The battle lines were drawn, and the future of Konoha hung in the balance between three separate generations.

Danzo's eyes narrowed, his voice a final warning. "You are all playing a dangerous game."

Goku's voice was calm but filled with determination. "We're not playing a game, Danzo. We're fighting for tomorrow."

Each person in the room knew that the fight for their ideals had only just begun.

The battle lines were drawn, and the future of Konoha hung in the balance.

The room remained heavy with tension as Goku, still bound by the wooden constriction, took a deep breath.

CRACKKK!

In one swift motion, he ripped the wooden binds apart as if they were paper, his sheer strength leaving the room in a stunned silence.

He floated up, his presence commanding attention as he addressed everyone.

"I'm going on a journey of self-discovery," Goku began, his voice calm but resolute. "Enough is enough. Nobody here truly knows who I am or where I came from. I was told I'm from the stars. If that's true, I need to find out why I was sent here and where I truly belong. This is bigger than being a shinobi."

The council members exchanged glances, the weight of Goku's words settling over them. Tsunade's expression was one of contemplation, while Danzo's was a mix of suspicion and calculation.

Goku continued, his eyes sweeping over the room. "I'm asking for your permission to go on this journey. I wanna do this peacefully."

The Kill Orochimaru team sans Shikamaru looked at Goku with a mixture of surprise and concern. The revelation that Goku might not be human was a shock, but in their hearts, they knew he was more humane than many they had encountered.

Sasuke's eyes narrowed slightly, his mind processing the new information. "You're saying you're not from this world?"

Goku nodded. "That's what I've been told. And I need to find out the truth."

Hinata's eyes softened, her voice firm but supportive. "Goku, you've always been different, but in the best possible way. If this journey is what you need, then I think you should take it."

Naruto's brow furrowed, his voice filled with a mix of curiosity and concern. He and Goku may not be the best of friends or really even friends at all, but he still remembers their time spent in the orphanage all those years ago. "Goku, you've always been there for us. Are you sure about this?"

Goku smiled, a rare brilliance in his eyes. "I am, Naruto. This is something I hafta do."

Sakura, standing beside Naruto, nodded slowly. "If anyone can find the answers they're looking for, it's you, Goku. Just... be careful."

Haku's eyes reflected a mix of understanding and resolve. "Just remember, you have friends here who care about you."

Tsunade finally spoke, her voice authoritative yet tinged with empathy. "This decision isn't just about you, Goku. It affects all of us. But I understand the need to find your true self. I've done it myself."

Danzo's voice was sharp. "We cannot simply let a powerful asset like Goku leave without consideration. He's too valuable to the village."

Tsunade's eyes flicked to Danzo, her voice firm. "Goku is not a tool to be used. He's a person with his own will and desires."

Homura spoke up, his tone skeptical. "And what if Goku becomes a threat? What if his journey leads him to oppose Konoha?"

Goku's expression remained calm. "I have no intention of becoming a threat. But if I'm to protect this village, I need to understand myself first."

Hinata stepped closer to Goku, her voice clear. "It don't believe he would never harm Konoha. He's proven that time and again."

Sasuke's voice was low but firm. "If Goku says he needs to do this, then we should trust him."

Danzo's eyes were cold, calculating. "Trust is a luxury we cannot afford. We must ensure the safety of the village above all else."

Naruto's voice rose, filled with passion. "Safety is also about understanding and trust too damnit. If we can't trust Son fucking Goku, then who can we trust?"

Tsunade raised her hand, silencing the growing arguments. "Goku, you have my permission to go on your journey. You're right; this is bigger than being a shinobi. And you're too powerful for us to control by force." And then her eyes narrowed. "But know this—if you become a genuine threat to the village, we will find a way to stop you."

Goku nodded, a smile playing on his lips. "Thank you Hokage-sama. Wouldn't expect anything less."

Danzo's expression darkened. "This is a mistake. Allowing such a powerful entity to have free reign is dangerous."

Tsunade's eyes were steely. "We cannot keep him here against his will. That would only breed resentment and conflict. We must trust that Goku's intentions are pure."

Naruto, deciding to be unusually quiet, watched the exchange with keen interest. This was a lesson in leadership, in balancing power and trust. He absorbed every word, every nuance, understanding the weight of the decisions being made.

Sakura placed a hand on his shoulder, her voice soft. "Naruto-kun, Goku needs this doesn't he?"

Naruto nodded slowly, his eyes never leaving Goku. "Yeah, I just hope he finds what he's looking for."

Sasuke's gaze was steady, his voice carrying an inkling of gratitude. "Goku, if you need anything, you know where to find me."

Haku's eyes were gentle but resolute. "We'll be here, supporting you from afar. Take care of yourself, Goku."

Goku's eyes softened as he looked at the two. "I won't forget guys. Thank you."

Danzo's frustration was palpable, his voice laced with anger at his greatest chess piece removing himself from the board.

"You are all too naive. This world isn't kind to those who seek idealistic paths."

Tsunade's gaze was unyielding. "Danzo, enough. We've made our decision. Goku will go on his journey, and we will respect that."

Danzo's eyes narrowed, his tone dangerous. "Mark my words, this will come back to haunt us."

Goku's voice was calm, a hint of finality in his tone. "It might. But this is something I gotta to do, right here right now."

Naruto, his heart heavy but resolute, stepped forward. "Goku, find out who you are. And when you do, come back to us, so I can kick your ass and show you how much stronger I've gotten!"

Hinata didn't have words, she had actions to contemplate, decisions looming large. As Neji would say, destiny awaits.

Goku smiled, a warmth radiating from him that seemed to lighten the atmosphere. "Thank you, everyone. I'll be back. And when I do, I'll have the answers we all need."

Tsunade's voice brought the focus back to the room. "We will honor Goku's decision. This is a time of change and we must adapt."

Danzo's eyes were filled with a dark promise. "We shall see, Hokage-sama. We shall see."

Naruto stood silently, absorbing the gravity of the situation. He understood now that being Hokage was about more than just strength—it was about making the hard choices, about balancing ideals with reality. This was a lesson he would carry with him, a guiding principle for the future he sought to create.

As Goku prepared to leave, a determined voice broke the tension. "I want that same freedom," Sasuke declared, his eyes locked onto Tsunade's. The room fell silent once more, the gravity of his statement settling over everyone.

Tsunade's expression turned stern. "Sasuke, you're needed in the village. Your skills and abilities are crucial to Konoha's defense and future missions."

Sasuke's eyes narrowed, his voice a mixture of frustration and resolve. "Why does Goku get to leave and find his purpose, while I'm stuck here?"

The Hokage sighed, her tone softening slightly. "Sasuke, Akatsuki activity is increasing. There are missions on the horizon, missions that need your skills. Rumor has it that your brother, Itachi Uchiha, is a member of the organization. You will have your chance."

Sasuke's expression shifted from frustration to a cold resolve. The mention of Itachi had struck a chord, awakening the deep-seated desire for revenge that simmered within him. Oh and Danzo's old mummy looking ass just got added to the list. Right behind Itachi.

"Fine," he said tersely. And then he glared at Danzo, insinuating "I'm coming for you" without uttering extra words.

Goku, sensing the tension, stepped forward. "What about the rest of the team? Can anyone come with me?"

Tsunade shook her head firmly. "No. Everyone else must remain within the walls of Konoha. Goku, your home on file was never originally Konoha, and it never will be. This makes you an exception."

Naruto's brows furrowed in frustration. "So Goku gets to leave and we have to stay? That doesn't seem fair!"

Hinata's voice was gentle but firm. "Naruto, Goku's journey is something he needs to do alone, this isn't a vacation."

Sakura nodded in agreement. "She's right Naruto-kun. Konoha is our home, it may not be his."

Goku turned to Tsunade, his voice calm. "If I go, I want amnesty in the village whenever I visit."

Tsunade considered this for a moment before nodding, her tone serious. "Granted. But keep this in mind Son Goku, any actions against Konoha or evidence of you aligning yourself with another village will lead to your persecution and eventual death. Are we clear?"

Goku smiled, his carefree nature shining through. "Understood. Thank you, Tsunade-sama. I won't forget your kindness."

Tsunade allowed a small smile. "Just don't make me regret this, Goku. You're much like Jiraiya in that sense. Powerful, but with a mind of your own."

Danzo's eyes darkened, his voice filled with barely contained frustration. "This is a mistake Tsunade, you and I both know it."

Tsunade's gaze remained steady. "We cannot control Goku by force. We need to stay on his good side. But Goku," she turned her gaze to him, her voice firm, "one more time: if you become a threat to Konoha, we will kill you."

Goku nodded. "I understand. I'll be careful."

Naruto, his usual boisterous nature tempered by the weight of the moment, looked to Goku with a mix of admiration and sadness. "Take care, Goku. Find out who you are and come back stronger."

Hinata's eyes locked with Goku's, her voice soft yet strong. "Goku-kun, remember you have a home here. Always."

Goku's smile widened, warmth radiating from him. "I won't forget Hinata. Thank you."

Tsunade cleared her throat, bringing the focus back to the room once more. "Now, before we move forward, I want to acknowledge the Kill Orochimaru team's success. You've completed an SS-ranked mission by killing Orochimaru and destroying Otogakure, avenging Konoha and the Sandaime Hokage."

The team stood a little straighter, the weight of their accomplishment mixed with the sorrow of their losses.

"We will celebrate this victory with a festival by the end of the week," Tsunade continued, "as a commencement to the new era of Konoha. But before the festival, we will honor Kiba and his sacrifice with a ceremony of his own. His bravery and dedication will not be forgotten."

Naruto's eyes filled with sadness once more. "Kiba's sacrifice won't be in vain. We'll make sure of that."

Hinata's gaze cracked, her voice filled with quiet but riveting emotion. "Kiba's spirit will always be with us...I just wish he was still here."

Tsunade nodded, her expression somber. "After the ceremony, we will celebrate the members of the Kill Orochimaru team accordingly. Your bravery and dedication shall not go unheralded."

Haku's eyes shimmered with a mix of pride and sorrow. "Thank you, Hokage-sama."

Sasuke's expression was unreadable, his thoughts focused inwardly. No words to say, nothing.

Goku turned to his friends, his voice filled with a rare solemnity. "You're all strong. Stronger than you know. Keep fighting, keep training, I wanna spar all of you guys soon!"

Hinata's eyes never left Goku's. "We will, Goku. We will."

Naruto's voice was filled with determination. "We'll make Konoha a place worth coming back to."

Tsunade's voice cut in. "The meeting is adjourned. The Kill Orochimaru team is dismissed."

One by one, the members of the team began to exit the room, their minds filled with the weight of the decisions made and the future that lay ahead. Except Haruno Sakura, of course.

She had to become more useful.

Sakura lingered behind, her gaze meeting Tsunade's. "Hokage-sama, may I speak with you privately?"

Tsunade nodded, her expression softening. "Of course, Sakura. What is it?"

The room slowly emptied, leaving Sakura and Tsunade alone.

The future was certainly uncertain.

Deep within a hidden Akatsuki lair, shadows moved with purpose. Tobi stood at the forefront, his single visible eye glowing ominously in the dim light. Behind him, Hidan and Sasori flanked a sealed jar, its ancient design hinting at the power it contained.

Tobi's voice was low and commanding. "We're about to awaken something that has slumbered for centuries. Be prepared for anything."

Hidan grinned, his bloodlust barely contained. "About time we had some real fun. I was getting bored."

Sasori's expression was unreadable, but his voice carried a hint of curiosity. "Who exactly are we releasing?"

Tobi's eye narrowed. "You'll see soon enough."

With a precise motion, Tobi activated the sealing jutsu, breaking the ancient seals that had bound the jar for so long. The jar shook violently before bursting open, releasing a dark, malevolent energy that filled the room.

From within, a tall, imposing figure emerged—Piccolo Daimao, the Demon King.

His eyes blazed with fury and power as he took in his surroundings. "Who dares to release me?"

Hidan stepped forward, his scythe ready. "That would be us. And you'd better—"

TSSSHEWW!

Before he could finish, Piccolo Daimao's eyes flashed. A beam of energy shot from his gaze, incinerating Hidan where he stood. The room fell silent, the only sound being the crackling of the remaining ashes.

Sasori's puppet body moved with lightning speed, but Piccolo Daimao's next attack was just as swift. Eye beams pierced through the redhead's core, destroying his heart container in an instant.

The puppet master collapsed, lifeless.

Tobi remained unfazed, his Kamui allowing him to become intangible just as Piccolo Daimao's attack reached him. The eye beams passed through harmlessly.

Piccolo Daimao's eyes narrowed. "You're different. You cannot be hit."

Tobi's voice was calm, almost amused. "And you are quite powerful. But neither of us can kill the other, it seems."

Piccolo Daimao's expression was one of frustration mixed with intrigue. "What do you want?"

Tobi stepped closer, his eye locking onto Piccolo's. "We have common goals, you and I. Power, control, domination. I can help you achieve those goals."

Piccolo Daimao's interest was piqued. "And why would you help me?"

Tobi's eye glinted with cunning. "Because you can help us as well. The Akatsuki seeks power, and with your strength, we can accelerate our plans. In return, we can help you achieve your goals of world domination."

Piccolo Daimao's eyes, glowing with malevolent intent, narrowed as he regarded Tobi. "You spoke of common goals, masked one. What exactly do you seek to gain from our alliance?"

Tobi's single visible eye gleamed with a cold, calculating light. "Power, control, and the creation of a new world order. Our primary objective is to capture the nine bijuu, the Jinchuriki, and harness their immense power to reshape the world."

Piccolo Daimao's interest was piqued, his expression one of dark curiosity. "The nine tailed beasts… I recall seeing their power during my reign over this world. What exactly do you plan to do with this power once you have it?"

Tobi's voice was smooth, almost hypnotic. "We intend to revive the Ten Tails and use its power to end all suffering and create a utopia."

Piccolo Daimao's sinister grin widened. "A utopia built on illusion and control? Fascinating. But tell me, why do you need me for this?"

Tobi's tone shifted, carrying a note of urgency. "There is a threat to our plans, someone with power that rivals our own. His name is Son Goku. He's not like the Jinchuriki, but his strength is extraordinary, and he poses a significant enough danger to your ambitions of world domination."

Piccolo Daimao's eyes lit up with intrigue. "Son Goku, you say? Tell me more about this individual."

Tobi stepped closer, his eye fixed on Piccolo Daimao. "Son Goku is potentially not of this world. He possesses incredible strength, speed, and combat abilities far beyond that of any shinobi. He's already defeated several powerful enemies, including Orochimaru of the Sannin. If left unchecked, he could become an insurmountable obstacle to your rule."

Piccolo Daimao's expression turned contemplative, then a wicked smile spread across his face. "An enemy worthy of my attention. Very well, this Son Goku will be dealt with."

Tobi's voice remained steady. "Together, we can ensure that both of our goals are achieved. The Akatsuki will assist you in finding the Dragon Balls to restore your youth and power. In return, you will aid us in capturing the Jinchuriki and eliminating Son Goku."

Piccolo Daimao's eyes gleamed with anticipation. "Agreed. I will use your organization to gather the Dragon Balls and achieve my ultimate form. And this Son Goku… I will relish the challenge of crushing him."

Tobi nodded, satisfied with the agreement. "We will begin by targeting the Jinchuriki and Goku. They are scattered, but with our combined resources, we will find them."

At this moment, White Zetsu emerged from the shadows, holding a small, mechanical device. "This is a Dragon Radar, retrieved from Otogakure's hidden labs. It will help you locate the Dragon Balls."

Piccolo Daimao took the radar, his eyes gleaming with malevolent delight. "Excellent. With this, my plans can move forward."

Tobi watched the Demon King with a keen interest. "We'll observe your progress, Piccolo Daimao. Show us that you can accelerate our plans without being defeated by Son Goku."

Piccolo Daimao's laughter echoed through the chamber, filled with dark promise. "You will not be disappointed. My children will seek out the Jinchuriki and Son Goku, and they will fall before us."

Raising his hand, the Namekian summoned dark energy, forming three figures from his essence. Soon enough from the shadows, Tambourine, Cymbal, and Drum emerged, bowing before their creator.

Piccolo Daimao's voice was commanding. "Seek out the nine Jinchuriki and Son Goku. Bring them to me."

Tambourine, a winged demon, grinned maliciously. "It will be done, Father."

Cymbal, a hulking beast, roared in agreement. "We will find them."

Drum, the largest and most brutish of the three, pounded his chest. "They will fall before us."

Tobi's gaze shifted to the three demons. "Go forth and bring back results. The success of our plans depends on it."

As Tambourine, Cymbal, and Drum set out on their mission, Tobi turned his gaze back to Piccolo Daimao. "Remember, Demon King, our alliance is one of mutual benefit. Betrayal will not be tolerated."

Piccolo Daimao's smile was chilling. "Worry not, masked one. I have no intention of betraying you… yet."

Tobi's expression remained unreadable, his mind already contemplating the future. The pieces were in place, and the game had begun. Piccolo Daimao, the ancient Demon King, was now a part of the Akatsuki's grand scheme, and the world trembled in anticipation of the chaos to come.

As the shadows deepened around them, Tobi's single eye reflected a cunning light. "Our goals align for now, Piccolo Daimao. Let us see how far this alliance takes us."

The Demon King's laughter echoed through the chamber, a harbinger of the dark times that lay ahead. The path to power was fraught with danger, but with Piccolo Daimao and the Akatsuki working in tandem, the world was about to witness a new era of darkness and domination.

Tobi turned his gaze to the horizon. In his mind, plans and contingencies unfolded. If Piccolo Daimao proved his worth, he would become a powerful ally. If not, Tobi had no qualms about disposing of him.

He thought of Nagato, the Rinnegan, and his ultimate goal of becoming the Ten Tails Jinchuriki. The world would be reshaped under his eternal genjutsu, saving everyone from the suffering that lay ahead. But for now, he needed to see if Piccolo Daimao could truly challenge and eliminate Son Goku.

Tobi's single eye narrowed. "A boy from out of this world... If Goku is just the beginning, what other threats might come? We must be prepared for anything."

The Akatsuki's plans were set into motion, and the world trembled in anticipation of the chaos to come.

Piccolo Daimao, the Demon King, had returned. And with him, a new era of darkness and power was on the horizon.
