Snuggle and Make Up

He's bored, and Tony has been busier than normal lately, and Steve misses him. That's all there really is to it when he goes to the workshop. When he ignores Tony's request for more time to finish up what he's working on, and he tries his hardest to distract his boyfriend.

Steve really doesn't understand what the big deal is.

And so, when Tony shouts at him, Steve shouts back. And when Tony is literally tugging at his hair in frustration, Steve storms out of the workshop, instead of soothing him.

"Ah, come on, Stevie," Bucky soothes, stroking Steve's back comfortingly. "I know that you miss him, hell, I miss him too, but we both know how important JARVIS is to him."

Steve blinks. "What?"

"JARVIS," Bucky repeats, frowning. "He told us that he was going to be busy for a while, because there was a glitch in the code to bring JARVIS back, and he needed to rewrite most of the code from memory. It's no surprise that he got mad at you for distracting him from that, is it?"

"When… when did he tell us that?" Steve asks, a sinking feeling in his stomach, because he knows how much Tony loves JARVIS—his best and brightest AI. Steve knows that while Tony does, in fact, love all of his creations, many of them don't take up even a fraction of his heart the way that JARVIS did. The way he still does.

"The day before he disappeared into his workshop," Bucky says slowly, his head tilting slightly. "You don't remember?"

"Shit," Steve mutters, shaking his head. "I must not have been paying attention to the conversation. I didn't realise that he was working on JARVIS' code."

"We'll fix it, Stevie. Don't worry, you know that Tony doesn't stay mad for long."

Steve leans into Bucky, nuzzling his face against Bucky's neck. "That doesn't make me feel like any less of a heel though."

A few hours later, Bucky tugs Steve into the elevator, and the two of them head down to the workshop, hoping to find Tony at a better stopping point.

What they don't expect to find is Tony slumped in his seat, tears rolling down his cheeks unchecked, and a small smile on his face.

"Captain Rogers and Sergeant Barnes are here to see you, sir."

Steve gasps, and Bucky raises his eyebrows at the very British accent. He hadn't been around to meet JARVIS the first time, but both Steve and Tony have mentioned him numerous times.

Tony turns in his chair, and aims a tired smile their way.

"I'm sorry about earlier, Steve," he offers, before he raises his hand to cover a large, long yawn. "I just—"

"I get it," Steve says, cutting him off with a shake of his head. "I didn't realise that you were working on JARVIS' code, I'm sorry too."

Tony reaches out and makes grabby hands at them in a way that should really only be cute when a child does it, but Tony pulls off regardless. Bucky pushes Tony a step in front of him; as much as he absolutely adores sleepy Tony, he knows that Steve probably needs a hug from their genius first.

"Are you all finished now, sweetheart?" Steve asks quietly, as he wraps his arms around Tony.

"Uh huh," Tony confirms, squirming closer.

"How about we get you tucked up in bed then, hmm? Think that you could take a nap, and have a snuggle with me and Buck?"

Tony nods, and reaches out for Bucky, who goes willingly. He can tell that Tony is dead on his feet, and while Bucky would prefer that he eat, he knows that sleep will have to take precedence this time.

"Come on, doll," he murmurs, helping Tony to his feet.

When he sways, Steve lifts him into a bridal carry, taking his weight with barely any effort.

Bucky follows a step behind, a smile on his face. He'd missed Tony as much as Steve had, and spending a few hours wrapped around their genius seems like an absolutely perfect way to spend their evening.

Though, he will absolutely be making Tony eat, as soon as he wakes up.
