It's time for the Culture Festival and Midoriya is doubting himself as a hero, while Uraraka finally wants to tell Deku how she feels Kyoka Jiro seems to be getting in Uraraka's way, as Jiro is struggling with her feelings. Meanwhile, Kaminari discovers his feelings for Jiro, and Midoriya begins to get to know her better and it's getting in his way causing trouble for the class.

Chapter ONE

It was night-time as the stars shined down on the town of Musutafu Japan home of one of the top hero schools in the world U.A High School when we saw a police car drive up towards the front gate of the famous school. When the car came to a complete stop the rear passenger door opened to reveal first-year student Eijiro Kirishima (AKA: Red Riot, Quirk Hardening) stepping out along with Izuku Midoriya (AKA: DEKU, Quirk ONE FOR ALL). As the car drove away both students let out a sigh of exhaustion. "Man, I didn't think we would be there that long Midoriya," Kirishima said as Izuku merely nodded when they began walking back to the 1-A dorms. "DEKU! Kirishima!" yielded Ochaco Uraraka (AKA: Uravity, Quirk Zero Gravity) who was with Tsuyu Asui (AKA: Froppy, Quirk Frog) causing the two students to stop and turn around. "Wow, are you two just getting back as well?" Midoriya asked. "There were a lot of last-minute forms to fill out at Ryukyu's office...Ribbit." Asui replied.

"Yeah, it was the same for us," Kirishima added as they walked through the gate. As the four students were walking, they all seemed to be in deep thought, Kirishima was thinking about his fight alongside FAT-GUM that got him injured pretty badly during the Shie Hassaikai raid... (FLASHBACK)...Kirishima looked on as Rappa was punching the crap out of FAT-GUM. "Useless bastard! your hardening quirk breaks on you and now you are reduced to a pathetic nothing!... I'm just hopeless." he bashed himself as he continued to watch. After a few more minutes Red Riot knew FAT-GUM was on his last leg and Kirishima was not going to let this happen. "NO! I'm not useless...I have to do something. "He thought when he saw Rappa get ready to deliver the final blow.

"No! I won't let anything stop me, not now, NOT EVER!" Red Riot screamed as he jumped in front of FAT-GUM. "I'll become a hero, I'll protect people, if my hardening cracks then I will just harden some more!") Kirishima thought as he took blow after blow, cracking and hardening again as Rappa kept throwing his punches. "Alright kid, let's go!" Rappa said. As Red Riot was ready to throw a punch Hekiji stepped in and threw a barrier up preventing Red Riot from delivering the blow. When it was all said and done, Kirishima collapsed onto the ground, but thanks to the little time Kirishima bought him, FAT-GUM used all of those blows he got as energy, and with one punch he sent both villains crashing into the wall knocking them both out. "RED... Red Riot are you awake?" FAT-GUM yelled as Kirishima looked up at him weakly. "Who...are...you?" Red Riot whispered to him.

"It's me FAT-GUM, I had to shed a few pounds for that fight but..." FAT-GUM said when he was cut off by Red Riot's voice. "FAT, I'll protect you; I'll be strong...I Promise...whatever it takes.'... (Flashback Ends) ..."I can't let myself get like that again...I mean what kind of MAN would that make me if I tried to save someone only to fall apart like that huh?... Well, I'm going to train my ass off like never before to make sure I never end up like that ever again! "Kirishima thought while pumping his fist. Asui saw this and wondered what he was thinking about."I heard he was hurt pretty bad in his fight, but he was there for FAT-GUM when he needed it...I wished I was as helpful out there as he was. "Asui thought sadly as she began to think back to the Raid herself... (Flashback)...Tsuyu was hopping down the corridors of the Yakuza stronghold looking for anyone hurt or in need of rescue when she came across Tamaki Amajiki who was carrying a badly wounded Mirio Togata, who Asui found earlier. "Sun-eater! thank goodness...I'm glad he's doing better." Asui said referring to Togata. "Froppy what's happening out there?" Amajiki asked. "DEKU's Fighting." was her response.

"OK listen I need you to take Eraserhead outside, I think there are some paramedics out there to get him some help," Amajiki asked. Asui grabbed Eraserhead and headed for the outside. When they both arrived, they were met with an awe-inspiring site as she saw her friend Midoriya standing in front of this huge monster that once was the leader of the Yakuza Overhaul. Asui looked at her classmate who was encased in this sort of turquoise-like glow with yellow sparks that seemed to be coming off of the little girl DEKU was carrying when suddenly those sparks engulfed both of them causing immense pain for both of them as Izuku collapsed to his knees. Uraraka, who was outside already, yelled out; "I think her quirk is out of control!" As Asui saw this an idea quickly popped into her head as she grabbed Eraserhead and lifted his head to look at both of them as he began to regain consciousness. "I'm sorry Midoriya," he said weakly as his eyes went red immediately stopping both quirks in his line of sight and they collapsed onto the ground. "It's over," Asui said as everyone ran over to check on the hero and victim... (Flashback Ends) ... Asui just looked down at the ground after thinking about what took place earlier today. "As-, I mean Sue, are you ok?" Midoriya asked breaking the silence amongst the four. "Sorry Midoriya, I just wished I did more out there today...Ribbit...It was so hard to watch you fight while I was sitting on the sidelines, it just feels like I didn't do enough." Asui said and Midoriya could sympathize with her feelings. "You did do a lot out there today; I mean you helped Togata get out safely and pulled Eraserhead out of their stronghold...to me I think you were just as much a hero as all of those pros out there, so down be down on yourself okay?" Midoriya replied with a smile. "Ribbit." was all she could say as they got closer to the dorms.

"Sue, I know exactly what you mean by not doing enough..."Midoriya thought sadly as he began to think back to the two events that had been plaguing his mind, heart, and soul all day long... (Flashback)..."Mirio!" Sir Nighteye yelled as Midoriya, Eraserhead, The Police, and himself entered the fight against Overhaul. "Sir...Eri...Behind me." Togata said weakly while he struggled to stay upright due to the large wound on his right side. "What Happened?" Nighteye asked. "Chisaki got me with his quirk while I was trying to protect her and one of his goons shot me with some weird bullet...ever since then I can't seem to use my quirk at all...like It feels like it's not there anymore." Togata said as Nighteye's Eyes went wide in shock. Midoriya who was trying to keep Overhaul at bay overheard what Mirio said and was shocked in his own right. "He lost his Quirk." Midoriya thought as Overhaul Attacked...Suddenly everything fades into another Flashback as now he is walking behind Eraserhead who leads him into a hospital room where ALL-MIGHT, Recovery Girl, Centipede, and Bubble Girl of the Nighteye agency, and a few nurses are surrounding the bed of a dying Sir Nighteye who was impaled in the fight against Overhaul. "There's nothing more we can do...to be honest, it's a miracle he lasted this long." The Doctor said as he entered the room behind DEKU and Eraser.

"My healing can't help him either...he's just too far gone for me to save." Recovery Girl added. "I'm sorry but you should prepare yourselves...he won't live to see tomorrow." One of the nurses said as a shocked Midoriya looked at ALL-MIGHT's former sidekick. "Nighteye!...No, you have to hang in there...you have to live!" Midoriya yelled as the grief overwhelmed him. As ALL-MIGHT spoke to Nighteye as others were saying their final goodbyes, Mirio burst into the room. "SIR! don't give up, please keep fighting...don't die on me." Togata yelled looking down on his mentor. "Mirio...I've failed you this is all my fault if only I had..." Nighteye weakly said before being cut off by Mirio...'It was all thanks to you Sir, everything I am and everything I do is because of what you've shown me...but I'm not ready! ... please don't go."... Mirio said as he tried to wipe away the tears falling from his eyes. As the two talked, Midoriya whose eyes were full of tears was staring at the pair as Nighteye was taking his last breaths.

"If only I was faster...I could have saved him...If only I had gotten to Togata sooner, he would still have his quirk. IF I HAD ONLY GOTTEN TO HIM SOONER, I COULD HAVE TAKEN THAT HIT FOR NIGHTEYE! IF ONLY I HAD BEEN THERE TO STOP THAT GOON BEFORE HE TOOK THAT SHOT TOGATA WOULD STILL HAVE HIS QUIRK DAMMITT...DAMMITT!" Midoriya's mind screamed as the life support machine went flat bared... (Flashback Ends) Midoriya just looked ahead as he kept walking, but his heart was in so much pain right now. Uraraka was sneaking glances at DEKU, and she wanted to ask him what was wrong but the more she thought about it the more it was better to leave it alone right now given all that they had been through, not to mention some issues plagued her mind ever since the events that took place earlier today especially one particular memory that has been troubling her since... (Flashback)" Plus Ultra!" yelled the Dragon Hero Ryukyu, Froppy, and Uravity as they used their combined quirks to knock out the Yakuza's strong villain Rikiya, and drove him underground right over the spot where the fight between Overhaul and Midoriya was taking place. "You guys came!" Midoriya yelled as Overhaul went on the attack again. As soon as the dust settled the three heroes looked all around their surroundings when something caught Froppy's eye. "Uravity look!" She yelled pointing to the badly wounded Nighteye lying on the ground with a concrete steak through his Abdomen.

"Oh No!" Uraraka whispered as both she and Froppy ran to him. "TAKE CARE OF HIM!" DEKU yelled while dodging one of Overhaul's attacks. After getting Nighteye to a safe spot, the three female heroes just watched in awe as Deku was going blow for blow with this monster until he finally got ahold of Eri. Now that he got ahold of their prime target, DEKU went for a round-house kick, but Overhaul moved out of the way causing Midoriya to miss. As a result of this, he created a wind tunnel so strong, that it was destroying everything in its path. "Quickly get Nighteye over here and take cover!" Ryukyu yells as the three of them get under her wings for protection. When the force of the wind finally stopped both DEKU and Eri were gone leaving the four heroes and Overhaul still down in the underground fight zone. "DAMN IT ERI COME BACK HERE, YOU BELONG TO ME!" Overhaul screamed as Ryukyu looked on in horror. "This isn't good," Ryukyu said ready to go on the attack when Nighteye spoke up stopping her in her tracks. "You don't need to worry; I used my foresight on Midoriya, and I know Chisaki won't go after any one of us, at least for the time being...he will head to the surface in pursuit of both Eri and Midoriya, once he gets up there, he will KILL Midoriya and escape with Eri...

"Nighteye said finishing his prophecy. Uraraka just looked at him wide-eyed as she kept hearing that same phrase over and over again in her head. "Kill Midoriya...Kill Midoriya...Kill Midoriya...KILL MIDORIYA!"(Flashback Ends) Ochaco just looked at Midoriya in a longing-type way as she continued to think to herself. "Thank goodness Nighteye's prophecy didn't come true, and we saved that little girl...but, what if it did come true and DEKU died? "Uraraka thought sadly."I promised myself that I would put these 'feelings' I have for him away for the sake of both of us...so we could concentrate on becoming heroes and I don't want to become a distraction for him...but what if I lose him before I have the chance to tell him how I feel...what would that do to me?" Uraraka suddenly shuddered at the thought as a sharp pain hit her heart. "Ever since I met DEKU I felt as though he was different from everyone else that I've ever come across, he was sweet, kind, determined, and intelligent...he has worked so hard to get where he is and in so many ways, he was an inspiration to me as well, I know it wasn't the best idea to back off of him when I found out about these 'feelings' but at the time I was just so scared of what they were all about...I've never had this happen to me before, so I didn't know how to react to them...now I've accepted them for what they are."Uraraka thought to herself as the four students approached the dorm steps. "Wow, it seems like forever since we've been here," Uraraka said to the other three. "Well, what are we waiting for, let's go!" Kirishima said as they continued. Uraraka smiled at the gesture but was still in deep thought as she continued to look at DEKU." I could have lost him today and he would never have known how much I care for him...the more I think about it the more it hurts me emotionally...I know I said I would put these feelings away but if he dies then what? I can't beat around this bush anymore...I have to tell him how I feel...I need to tell him how I feel...besides what rule does it say that it would get in the way of us becoming heroes anyway...who knows maybe we can make it work right...that settles it, I'm going to work up my courage and tell DEKU how I feel...I can't let this scare me anymore...I hope that he feels the same way that I do..."Uraraka told herself as they approached the entrance of the 1-A dorm.

Momo Yaoyorozu (AKA: Creati Quirk Creation) was in the dorm kitchen fixing a snack for herself as she was staring off into space with a somewhat worried look on her face thinking about what happened to the four classmates and their work-study when Kyoka Jiro (AKA: Earphone Jack Quirk Earphone Jack) walked up next to her. "Hey Yaomomo...you, Ok?" Jiro asked a little worried for her best friend. "I'm just thinking about what happened with Midoriya and the others, and how bad did that affect them physically and mentally," Yaoyorozu responded. "I know what you mean, I still can't believe the thing's Midoriya was doing out there." Jiro was saying when she was caught off guard by the main entrance door opening as the talked about four students walking in. "There you are what troublemakers!" Minoru Mineta (AKA: Grape Juice Quirk Pop-Off) yelled as the rest of the class swarmed the four students. "All of us were worried about you," Yaoyorozu said before being cut off by someone. "First Kamino now the Yakuza, you guys are always getting into crazy situations...do you know how much that scares us?" Denki Kaminari (AKA: Charge Bolt Quirk Electrification) yelled at the two guys in the group. "Yeah, sorry about that," Midoriya said looking at the class. "I'm just glad they're OK." Mezo Shoji (AKA: Tentacole Quirk Dupli-Arms) said to Jiro.

"I don't know...are they? how can, we be sure?" she replied twirling her left jack around her finger as she looked at Kirishima and Midoriya. "Enough of this! I know everyone was worried but calm down...we all saw news coverage, and they have all been through an ordeal...if you want to help you should consult them quietly and let them rest their bodies and their minds because I'm sure it wasn't just bad on them physically, but mentally as well." Tenya Ida (AKA: Ingenium Quirk Engine) said to the entire class. "Umm Ida...Thanks for that...but really, this is ok." Midoriya said with a smile. As soon as he said that Ida ran over to Midoriya and started asking him a bunch of questions in a worried tone while Jiro looked on at the scene in deep thought. "Midoriya's Lying...I see it in his eyes, why is he saying everything ok when I can see and sense that it's not...I can see nothing but pain in those eyes...Why? "Ever since school started and the class got to know each other, one of the biggest advantages they discovered about Jiro was that she could read people better than most in the classroom due to her quirk. Her Earphone Jacks can pick up a person's heart rate and speed giving her the capability of being a walking lie-detector. It gave her the ability to figure out if someone was lying so after hearing Midoriya say he was ok, right away she knew that wasn't true.

"I may not know Midoriya all that well...but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that he's a mess right now...maybe it's the hero part of me talking but, I want to reach out and help him...to ask him what's on his mind...but I'm just not close enough to the dude to bother him about his issues...maybe I could try to get to know him better first...wait girl, he just got back from that raid now's not the time for that." Jiro thought as Hanta Sero (AKA: Cellophane Quirk Tape) was trying to get Ida off of Midoriya. "You know you should try taking your advice!" Sero said as everyone laughed. Uraraka was watching everything going on with DEKU, Ida, and Sero with a smile on her face when suddenly that memory of what Nighteye said came rearing its ugly head again..."KILL MIDORIYA!" ... as she kept looking at DEKU and then looked at the ground with such a sad look.

"Ochaco are you alright?" Asui asked as she saw the look on Uraraka's face. At first, she didn't say anything instead she just looked right back at Midoriya again when she finally answered. "I can't run from this anymore." Sue just looked over at Midoriya and then back to Ochaco again. "I wonder what she means by that." Asui thought to herself. "Yo Kachan why are you over here sulking for...come on admit it you were worried about them as well," Kaminari asked the explosive teen while resting a hand on his shoulder. "Get off me you poor excuse for a spark plug it's time for bed anyway...unlike the rest of you Extras, I got stuff to do!" Katsuki Bakugo (AKA: Dynamite Quirk Explosion) yelled at everyone as he began to leave the room. "Hey, you guys I'm glad everyone's ok, but I got to get to bed as well." Shoto Todoroki (AKA: Shoto Quirk Half-Cold, Half-Hot) said as he was coming back from being outside. "Wow, since when did I go to school with a bunch of geezers?" Kaminari asked the two class 1-A powerhouses. "I get Bakugo, but Todoroki wants to leave too?" Asui asked as well. "They got their Provisional License training tomorrow...but it is pretty early still," Jiro replied as the rest looked on. As it was getting closer to curfew everyone was wrapping up the questionnaire session with the four classmates, Jiro looked over at Midoriya and was struggling with herself on whether she should talk to him. "Damn, what the hell am I afraid of? It's not like he's going to bite or anything it's Midoriya for crying out loud one of the nicest guys I've ever met and yet I know if I go over there my dumbass is going to want to confront him about earlier and that could go very badly...but still." "Hey Jiro, what-cha doing staring at Midoriya for, you curious about that power he displayed on TV too?" Kaminari asked her.

"Can it Zap-twat! I wasn't staring...besides I think we asked enough questions for one night." Jiro said with the faintest blush on her cheeks as she tapped her ear jacks together. "Ok...Ok...I get that, but still, I am curious about how strong he is that's all, but you're right I can ask him another day so I'm heading to bed, talk at you tomorrow." Kaminari said as he left the room. "Later Charge-dolt," Jiro replied as she looked back to Midoriya. "I'm going to do it...I'll go up to him and say I'm glad you are ok and if you need anyone to talk to, I'm here for you...that works."Jiro told herself as she started to walk up to him. "Mid-" Jiro was about to say when Uraraka intercepted her "Hey DEKU listen I was wondering if maybe you, me, and Ida wanted to go somewhere off campus for like lunch and just hang out for a while...we haven't done that in a long time, and it would get our minds off of what happened, you know a time to relax...what do you say?" Uraraka asked as Jiro just stood there. "Umm sure Uraraka that would be nice and you're right it has been a long time. you want to go tomorrow after class?" Midoriya asked. "Sounds great, let me text Ida, ok?" Uraraka said. "Ok then well I'm kind of beat so I'm turning in for the night I'll see you in class tomorrow," Midoriya said with a big smile as he left the room. Jiro just turned around and headed for the kitchen for something to drink. "Well, there went my chance...and why the hell was he still smiling with all the shit he's hiding behind those eyes...oh well maybe I'll talk to him some other time...or not...fuck if I wasn't a chicken-shit earlier I could've talked to him then but no... story of my life." Jiro thought as she grabbed a Coke from the fridge when Yaoyorozu walked up to her. "Well, all this was rather interesting, wasn't it?" Momo said as Jiro turned to her. "Yeah, you can say that again," Jiro replied with a dejected look on her face. "What's wrong Kyoka?" Yaoyorozu asked.

"It's nothing I'm just worried about Midoriya that's all," Jiro replied as Momo had a confused look on her face. "Wait, you worried about Midoriya...how come?" Momo said in a somewhat shocked tone. "Yeah, I know right? I mean I don't know what's going through my head, but I think he's in a lot of pain right now." Jiro replied. "But he seemed fine to me earlier... you know, I don't get this you never talked to the guy in class, and if I remember correctly you referred to him as a 'hero dweeb' and didn't think he would make it on the account that every time he used his quirk he would do more damage to himself then helping others...you thought he would get expelled that first week right?" Momo said as Jiro had this shocked look on her face. "Momo! Was it really necessary to say that...plus my opinion has changed since then, and I will be the first one to admit that I was wrong about him, yes, he's still a hero nerd...but he works harder than anyone of us in our class and do you know what, I FUCKING regret not ever trying to get to know him Ok?!" Jiro said a little angry and hurt by what Momo said. "OK...OK, sorry it's just a little surprising that you worried about him of all people that's all...but you're right I'm worried about him and the others, it's going to take some time for them to heal properly, so while you may see that Midoriya's in a lot of pain I'm sure that all he needs is a little time, he will be ok...they all will be." Momo said as Jiro nodded her head. "Yeah, you're right, maybe I'm just overreacting a little much...by the way sorry for snapping at you," Jiro said. "No, I'm sorry I was a little over the line there look, it's getting late, and we have classes tomorrow so let's just call it a night and start fresh in the morning, ok...goodnight, Kyoka," Momo said as she walked out of the Kitchen leaving Jiro to herself.

"Yaomomo's right, I'm just being an idiot and jumping to conclusions...all over nothing... God your stupid Kyoka...but still that look in his eyes" Jiro thought as she left the Kitchen for the night. As everyone else turned in for the evening Uraraka was sitting on her bed unable to sleep. "I'm so excited about tomorrow yet I'm torn at the same time, I mean yeah I get to hang out with DEKU, but a part of me didn't want to ask Ida to join us...I guess I just wanted it to be just the two of us, but it doesn't matter now I'll just take DEKU off to the side and tell him how I feel...I can do this. "Uraraka told herself with some confidence when suddenly that painful feeling came back to her..."KILL MIDORIYA."... and her heart began to hurt again. "Why can't I not get that memory out of my head? "Uraraka thought as she sat there with a tear on her face. Meanwhile, Midoriya was having trouble as he was trying to sleep only to be looking up at the ceiling. (FLASHBACK)

"Sir, I can't use my quirk, it's like it's gone," Togata said. "Midoriya, you changed the future, you did the impossible," Nighteye said to Midoriya. "Don't go...you have to live!" (FLASHBACK ENDS)

Midoriya's memories of the two events wouldn't leave Midoriya alone as tears began forming in his eyes. "Why...why do I keep letting everyone down...was Kacchan right all along, am I just USELESS like everyone says, did ALL-MIGHT make the right choice with ONE FOR ALL giving it to me when I can't even succeed in saving anyone?"Midoriya thought as his tears kept falling. "Why couldn't I save them?" Midoriya whispered to himself as he cried lying in his bed his soul broken in two unable to sleep at all.
