Rory was sitting in the nursery staring at the scan pictures the doctor had printed for her at the end of the appointment. Everything was doing what it was supposed to and she was growing a healthy baby. She still couldn't believe the pictures in front of her were the baby inside her. Sure she had seen scan pictures before, Sookie, Sherry, Lane and Paris had all shared their baby scans with her, they all looked much the same. Rory thought maybe she should have asked them to print the description instead of the picture, she was better with words after all.

Scattered around her were bits of wall paper, cardboard, paint brushes, picture frames and step ladders. She had returned from the doctors office with a plan. it was the first time she'd had a plan since she had taken the test. She was only 12 weeks but her Mom had said once the morning sickness was out of the way and she was into the 2nd trimester she needed to get on with things, the time would go so fast, She wouldn't feel up to anything by the 3rd trimester and by the time baby arrived she wouldn't even know which way was up anymore. So Rory had taken her Gran up on her offer of buying the furniture for the nursery and started to get it decorated while she waited for it to be delivered. Apparently though Emily had ordered more furniture for the baby than Lorelai had in her whole house. Cots and cribs and bassinettes for it to sleep in, changing tables for almost every room of the house, play mats and gyms and bouncers, rocking chairs and gliders. Rory should have been with her gran when she ordered them to reign her in a bit but honestly she thought there was only a cot and maybe a rocking chair to get. 'Just wait until you're on nappy number 10 within the hour, are you going to want to go all the way back upstairs to change it again?' There was no stopping Emily, she had an answer for everything.

Luckily, her Mom and Luke were coming over at the weekend to help put the furniture together and move it around. Today, Rory was getting the room decorated ready for the items to be placed and waiting in for what should be the third and final delivery, as long as Emily hadn't added anything else to the order. Rory took another sip of her drink and told herself she'd have one more minute sitting down then she would get going again, the nursery boarder wasn't going to put itself up. Just as she put her drink down on the makeshift table there was a ring on the doorbell. Rory got up, scan pictures still in hand and made her way down the hallway to the stairs.

As she went Rory checked her phone, the delivery company were supposed to call half an hour before they were going to arrive. No calls, no messages. She knew if she told Emily they had turned up without warning again they would be in for it but to be honest Rory didn't care, that half an hour was her time to get downstairs and make sure there was space for the delivery. The doorbell rang again before Rory had even reached the stairs, She wished she had waited until the Maid had been appointed to arrange the delivery now. The doorbell rang for a third time as she reached the bottom step.

"I'm coming aren't I?!" Rory reached the door and without even realising there was no delivery truck in the driveway opened the door in a rant. "Don't you people read your own information? You are supposed to call half an hour before you arrive, it's a courtesy, if you had even stopped to think for a minute about the items you are delivering maybe you would realise I need a bit of warning to open the-"

Rory's voice seemed to dry up in her throat. This was not the delivery she had been expecting. Unless he had changed career drastically since she had last set eyes on him.

"Hello Ace."

Rory eyes grew wide and she just stood there, her mouth still trying to form the last word of her previous sentence, unable to move or speak.

"You know its bad manners to leave a guest standing on the front porch. I would think Emily Gilmore would have taught you that before putting you in charge of her house. What will the neighbors think?" There was a hint of a joke but Logan wasn't smiling. He almost looked as shocked as she felt.

Finally, Rory found her voice, though it was a lot higher than she was used to "You want to come in?" To say she was shocked would be an understatement. Rory hadn't seen Logan in this doorway in over a decade, she'd had no contact with him in over two months, surely it was no coincidence he would turn up less than a week after Rory had run into his sister at her OB appointment.

"Thanks." a polite, tight lip smile spread across his features for a moment before he stepped over the threshold.

They walked into the lounge. Rory cursed herself for leaving the baby things around the room then realised she was still clutching the scan pictures in her left hand. She tucked them under the cushion as she sat on the sofa hoping he hadn't noticed.

"I hear congratulations are in order, Ace. How far along are you? Honor says the first 3 months are the worst but then she's done it 3 times so it can't be all that bad now can it?" Logan was slowly making his way into the room inspecting the labels on the boxes and tapping on the top of a few as he went.

"What are you doing here Logan?" Rory was still reeling, this was absolutely not part of the plan today or any other day. If she did decide to tell Logan at some point in the future there would be pro/con lists and rehearsals, there would be discussions with her Mom and Lane maybe even Paris, he wasn't supposed to be on her doorstep, he was supposed to be getting married.

How much Did he know? He obviously knew she was pregnant, he'd just congratulated her and he had been closely inspecting the boxes of baby items cluttering the house. Did he think it was his or that she'd met someone else in the couple of months since they'd last seen each other? Either way he didn't look happy.

"Ah straight to the punch. Well to be honest I didn't like the way we left things in new Hampshire, last time we saw each other." She hadn't either to be honest, especially with everything that followed but it was part of the dynastical plan, she wasn't going to sit around and wait for him to be free at the weekends after he was a married man. He had chosen her, he had chosen the plan, it had been his decision how they had left it.

She glanced at his left hand, no ring. Was that a good sign? Not all men wore wedding rings. Had it already happened?

"I mean why aren't you in London? Shouldn't you be planning a wedding or something?"

"I was there in the middle of the engagement party my parents had put on for us, all family, friends, business partners, everyone and I realised I didn't want to be there, but Colin and Finn were there and they made the party a bit more interesting," Logan started pacing behind the sofa, making Rory turn at awkward angles to follow his movements. "But then Honor stole the show, she's going on about pregnancy and due dates and appointments and then guess who she saw at the last appointment? Well I'm surprised, no I'm shocked, I haven't even started doing the math, I just can't believe you met someone and decided to have a child with them that quickly. I mean you haven't even had chance to make an effective pro/con list by now, so either Honor has it wrong, but she never gets her gossip wrong, which means it's either someone you already knew, an accident, or-" Logan stopped moving so abruptly and turned to face Rory, she nearly fell off the sofa. "You know Finn actually worked it out before me?! Do you know how it feels to be slower to work something out than Finn?"

Rory didn't know how to answer that. She sat there trying to hold his stare, it was no use, her eyes dropped to the coffee table. So he knew, she should feel relieved, she didn't have to go through the awkward conversation of telling him. So why did she feel so guilty?

"Are you not going to say anything? You had more to say when you thought I was a delivery guy. Isn't there something you need to tell me?!" He wasn't actually shouting, but Rory had heard Mitchum use this voice when she briefly worked for him and it was not something you wanted to be on the receiving end of, especially with baby hormones.

"Logan, I-" She didn't know what to say, she was fighting the tears but her voice was betraying her.

"So it's true? You are pregnant with my child?" She still couldn't speak, she didn't even lift her eyes from the coffee table as she nodded the affirmative. She was expecting more ranting, yelling even this time but he went silent as he sank down on the sofa opposite. She risked a glance up at him, he was leaning back into the cushions, his head resting on the top of the sofa with his eyes closed, his right hand kneading his forehead. As she was building the courage to say something to him her phone went off in her pocket. She reached down to answer it still watching Logan, he didn't show that he heard it.

"Hello?" It was an unknown number otherwise she would have left it and called back later.

"Hi, we've got a delivery for Rory Gilmore. We will be with you in about 20 minutes."

"Thanks, I'll be here." Rory ended the call and stood up she walked back into the entrance hall and made sure there was a clear path from the front door to the stairs and lounge, it didn't look like she would get the decorating finished today now. As she walked back into the lounge she noticed Logan hadn't moved. She walked back over to the sofa she had been sitting at lofted the cushion and took the scan pictures out of their hiding place. Placing them on the coffee table in front of Logan she took a deep breath and summoned some courage.

"Can I get you a scotch?" The corner of Logan's mouth moved the smallest bit into a smile as he opened one eye to look at her by the drinks trolley, bottle already in hand. Rory nodded her head at the pictures as she poured a double into the glass and set it next to him. Logan turned his head to the table and as he saw the pictures his arm left his head and reached out to them, stopping just before he touched them as if they could hurt him as he looked at Rory questioningly.
