Chapter 28

Latias shot like a bullet down the corridors. Following her brother's directions, she should be there in about a minute. She would have been there already, but if she had gone her fastest, she would have had to stop every few seconds to pick up Pikachu and Skye. She really hoped she wasn't too late…

"Latias!"

Latias skidded to a halt, causing Pikachu and Skye to go flying off her back.

"I know we're in a hurry, but could you please not go so fast?" asked Pikachu.

"Yeah, my paws are getting numb," said Skye.

"Sorry," said Latias, "I just-"

"I hate to interrupt," said Latios, "but I just found out that Ash had his memory wiped and stuck in some sort of DMA,"

"Memory wiped?!" said Pikachu, "Like, he's turned evil?"

"Not exactly," replied Latios, "he seems perfectly fine, but he doesn't remember anything. He didn't recognize my voice at all."

"And the DMA part…" said Latias.

Latios nodded. "I'm just as worried as you are sis, but we don't have time to waste. We have to get to Ash,"

"Does everyone remember the plan?" asked Pikachu.

His teammates nodded.

"Alright, Latios, Latias, wait for my signal," said Pikachu, "come on Skye, we've got some distracting to do,"

Nigel watched as the newest form of the Dark Ball fell into his hands. This was it, the perfect means to put even more power into a Pokemon. Not that he hadn't already, but the current Dark Ball didn't seem to be working on Latius. Not to mention Ho-oh had been freed from its Dark Ball, causing it to turn into a regular Pokeball and lose all of its power. If he wanted to capture legendaries effectively, he needed something better, and that something was sitting right in the palm of his hand. Nigel shut down the machine as he exited the control chamber. Who better to test the ball out on than Latius himself?

'Finally,' Ash thought as the rings around him fell to the ground, he hadn't minded his energy being drained, except for the fact that it made him hungry. Really hungry. Thankfully, it looked like Nigel was getting out of the machine, so Ash flew over to him. "Is it dinner time now?"

Instead of handing Ash a plate of food, however, Nigel held out a black and purple ball. "Alright Latius, just press this and you'll have all the food you want."

Something about the ball made Ash uneasy, but he shrugged the feeling off. After all, food was food. Besides Nigel wouldn't lie, right? He reached out to press the button, but as he did a loud explosion suddenly resounded from the other side of the room. Ash turned around to find that a large portion of the wall had been smashed, leaving a large hole.

Nigel too, was surprised by the sudden demolition of the wall. What had caused it? His modified DMA was turned off, and he had already blown up all of the explosives. Just as he put it off to an electrical error, he turned around to find that Latius was gone.

This was definitely the weirdest day of Ash's life. From losing his memory, being put in a weird machine, getting a telepathic message from someone he didn't remember, then remembering that someone, and finally getting dragged along by the outlines of two figures. After traveling for some time, they finally stopped. The two figures then turned visible revealing two Pokemon very similar to him, but with red and blue feathers instead of orange.

"Latios?" said Ash, recognizing the blue Eon from his memory.

"That's right," replied Latios, "now Ash, I know you might not remember much, but we need to get you out of here before Nigel finds us,"

"Nigel? What's so bad about him?" asked Ash, "I know he's a bit weird, but he seems fine to me," He noticed both Eons cringe at his words. "Um, sorry? Did I say something wrong?"

"It's not your fault Ash," said Latios, "you've just got to trust me on this one. I need you to follow Latias while I go grab Pikachu and Skye.

"Latias?" asked Ash. Another familiar name.

"Ash? Do you remember me?" asked the red Eon, who he assumed to be Latias.

Latias… Ash tried to remember that name. Suddenly, his eyes widened as another memory hit him.

Flashback

"Latias? What's up?" asked Ash as the red Eon Pokemon flew into his room at the Pokemon Center.

"Oh," said Latias nervously, "Um, I just wanted to thank you, Ash,"

"What for?" asked Ash.

That surprised Latias. "What for? For saving my life and my brother's life of course! Without you, those crooks would probably still be controlling the DMA, if we weren't both dead by then, that is,"

"It was nothing," said Ash, "don't worry about thanking me, I was happy to help!"

Latias flew up to him. "You know, you're the nicest, kindest person I've ever met. But, no offense, sometimes, you can be a complete dummy,"

Ash laughed. "I know, Pikachu tells me that a lot,"

Latias giggled, "Well, it's true you know,"

"I know," said Ash, "and… thanks for thanking me, I don't get that very much,"

"No problem!" said Latias.

"There is something I've been meaning to ask you though," said Ash.

"What is it?"

"Are you okay with well… me being your trainer and everything?" asked Ash, "I know you agreed because Regigigas asked you to, but do you really like it?"

"What kind of question is that?" asked Latias, "Traveling with you has been the most fun I've had in my life! Honestly, even if we never went to Regigias, I would have gone with you anyway."

"Really?"

"Really. Now, my turn to ask a question. Do you like having my brother and I around?"

"Of course! Why wouldn't I?" exclaimed Ash, "I've met lots of legendaries, but I've never really gotten to know any of them. When you took me to your garden, that was the first time I actually got to play and hang out with a legendary Pokemon. And you know what?"

"What?"

"It was one of the greatest moments of my life, thank you for that."

Latias blushed slightly. "You're welcome, Ash."

Flashback End

"Latias!" exclaimed Ash. Another one of his friends.

"So you remember me?" asked Latias hopefully.

"Yeah, I think so," said Ash.

"Good," said Latias, "because you're going to have to trust me and Latios. Nigel is bad Ash, very bad. I'm pretty sure he wants to use your powers to take over the world,"

Nigel, bad? Either Latios and Latias were lying to him, or Nigel had lied to him. Ash sighed. "Alright, I'll go with you,"

"Thank you, Ash," said Latias, "now come on, follow me!"
