Chapter 36
The Battle Beast part 3
"Not so fast, I active my trap, negate attack" said Jaden. Laquari then hit an invisible force field and retreated back to Welma's field. Jaden's friends sighed with relief.
"He's safe" said Syrus.
"For now", said Damon. "But, don't forget about her monster's abilities".
"I'll activate Laquari's ability", said Welma as her monster returned to her deck. "I return him to my deck and summon Gladiator Beast Augustus!". Her new monster was an anthropomorphic pterosaur-like creature with purple-grey scales decked out in purple armour with silver trim and red orbs. It also carried a sword.

"Why did Augustus' points go up?" Asked Moskii.
"The field spell", answered Octo. "It gains a counter every time a 'Gladiator Beast' monster is special summoned from the deck".

"Next, I return Gyzarus to my Extra Deck", said Welma as her monster returned to her extra deck. "Now, I get to summon two 'Gladiator Beast' monsters from my deck". This caused Jaden and his friends to gasp.
"Two monsters?" Asked Syrus.
"That can't be good" added Chumley.
"Not for you", said Welma. "Say hello to Gladiator Beasts Attorix and Dimacari". Her first new monster was a female, anthropomorphic lynx decked out in silver armour with dark-blue chainmail and carried a sword and shield.

DEF: 2000 + 300 = 2300
Her second monster was an anthropomorphic ox with blue armour with silver trim and had large gauntlets on his arms.

"And with two more monsters", said Alexis. "That's two more counters".

"Now, when Attorix is special summoned by the effect of a 'Gladiator Beast' monster", said Welma. "I can send one 'Gladiator Beast' monster from my deck to my graveyard. And I choose Octavius. Now, I'll place these two cards facedown and end my turn".
"You know", said ShiiShii. "That Welma is a pretty good duelist".
"I'll agree with you on that", said Ms. Dorothy. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say I was watching Zane".
"I, don't know if I'm thinking about this too much", said Alexis. "But, does anyone notice something about Welma?".
"What do you mean?" Asked Cherri.
"Look at her wrists and ankles" answered Alexis. They did and saw shackles with broken chains.
"Tho-those are shackles" said Chumley.
"Why would she have shackled?" Asked Alexis.
"It's my move", said Jaden drawing the top card of his deck. "I activate Polymerisation! I'll fuse Sparkman and Clayman, to fusion summon! Elemental Hero Thunder Giant!". His monster then appeared on his field.
"Now for Thunder Giant's special ability", said Jaden. "When he's summoned, he can destroy one monster you control who's original attack points were less than his own. Like~, Gladiator Beast Murmillo". Thunder Giant then released a blast of thunder from his hand and destroyed Murmillo.
"Now, Thunder Giant!", shouted Jaden. "Attack Gladiator Beast Retiari! Bolting Thunder!". Thunder Giant then fired a blast of thunder from his hands.
"I activate my trap, Gladiator Beast Assistance!", shouted Welma. "This card activates whenever you attack my 'Gladiator Beast' monsters when there are two or more of them out. Now, I can send 1 'Gladiator Beast' from my hand or field to the graveyard and I can do one of two things, and that's either increasing my life points by that monster's attack points or increase the attack of one 'Gladiator Beast' monster by the attack of that monster. So, I'll send Gladiator Beast Tygerius, 1800 attack points".
"Wonder what she's gonna choose?" Wondered Chumley.
"If she chooses to increase the attack points of one of her monsters", answered Octo. "Anyone of them would be strong enough to withstand Thunder Giant's attack".
"Now, I'll use it to increase my Life Points" said Welma.
Welma: 3000 + 1800 = 4800
Thunder Giant then destroyed Retiari.
Welma: 4800 - 700 = 3700
"Huh?", wondered Syrus. "Why would she choose the Life Point increase?".
"Who knows?" Answered Damon.
"I'll place these three cards facedown", said Jaden. "Then, I'll end my turn by activating Mirage of Nightmare before ending my turn".
"About time, you damn Tamer, my turn" said Welma drawing the top card of her deck.
"Speaking of Drawing", said Jaden. "Now, thanks to Mirage, I get to draw until I'm holding four cards in my hand". He then drew the top two cards of his deck.
"Just remember ya gotta toss out two cards during your turn", said Welma. "Not that it would matter to you".
"Actually, I won't have to", said Jaden. "Because I activate, Emergency Previsions. Now, I get to send two spell or trap cards from my field to the graveyard and gain 1000 Life Points for each one". So, both Mirage of Nightmares and one his facedowns disappeared.
Jaden: 1500 + 2000 = 3500
Welma growled.
"Greedy bastard", growled Welma. "I summon Gladiator Beast Samnite, in attack mode". Her new monster was an anthropomorphic Sabre-tooth Tiger dressed up in brown armour with gold trim and wings on his back and carried a sword and rectangular shield.

"Next, I'll play Monster Reborn", said Welma. "I'll use it to bring back, Gladiator Beast Retiari". Her monster then reappeared on the field.
"Next, I'll shuffle Augustus, Retiari and Samnite back into my deck", said Welma as her monster returned to her deck. "Now, I Fusion summon! Gladiator Beast Andabata!". Her new monster was a anthropomorphic lizard wearing dark-blue armour with gunmetal trim and red spikes. He also had what appeared to be jets on his back, carried a tiny shield and carried a massive sword.

"Now, I activate the spell, Premature Burial", said Welma. "Now, at the cost of 800 Life Points, I can special summon one monster from my graveyard. And I choose Gladiator Beast Murmillo". Her monster then returned to the field.
"Next, I'll shuffle Attorix, Dimacari and Murmillo back into my deck", said Welma as her monsters returned to her deck. "I fusion summon! Gladiator Beast Nerokius!". Her new monster was a giant anthropomorphic bat with six wings wearing Black-Blue armour with silver trim and pink orbs.

DEF: 1900 + 500 = 2400
"Two fusion monsters in one turn" said Cherri in shock.
"Now, Nerokius!", shouted Welma. "Attack Thunder Giant!".
"I activate my trap", said Jaden. "Hero-".
"That won't work", said Welma. "Nerokius prevents you from acting cards or effects when he attacks". Nerokius then destroyed Thunder Giant with a single punch.
Jaden: 3500 - 900 = 2600
"Now, you're completely defenceless", said Welma. "Just like, you, left, us. When you chained and shackled us". Jaden was now getting very confused.
"Chained? Shackled?", he asked. "What are you talking about?".
"Still playing denial, huh?", growled Welma. "Guess I'll have to beat it out of ya. Let's see how you like participating IN the fights instead of watching us".
"Wait, fights?", asked Jaden. "What are you-". Jaden then had a realisation.
"Hold on", said Jaden. "Welma, were you forced to be a Gladiatrix?".
