"Are you telling me he actually digivolved?"
"Yes Gravimon, Whispered actually digivolved." I sigh and cross my arms over my chest. Gravimon hums softly.
"That really shocks me."
"Why?" I ask.
"You don't need to know. But, how's the process of trying to save me?" He asks me to smirk.
"I haven't even started-" His scoff cuts me off. "Rude."
"Sorry, I do that when I am disappointed. Anyway, just tell the two that you are going on a magical adventure for some cool gem. I am sure, as a rookie digimon, they will fall for it."
"Why do you wish for me to lie and deceive them so badly?"
"Best you do not know, Derin." He smiles. "Besides, don't you wish to help a poor guy out, I mean, I am the one who gave you that fusion loader. You should do what I say." Gravimon says. I try to argue but can't come up with anything.
"Fine." I sigh. "I will try leaving today, maybe tomorrow." I turn around. "How do you know about Coronamon and Whispered." I say with a frown. "Please Gravimon…just give me an answer."
"We used to work together, that's why. Now, Derin. I believe in you." He chuckles softly with another sneaky grin. I wish I could see his eyes so I could really know what expression he is giving me. I wake up again and see Coronamon and Whispered near each other. Whispered must have gotten out of the fusion loader or something. I stand up and stretch and that causes me to awaken Whispered.
"Morning" I say to him. He growls at me and goes back to sleep. I shrug and walk around to stretch.
Later in the afternoon, I am standing outside of the primary village, looking out at the mountains, trees, and rivers. I want to get to that volcano as soon as possible.
"Whatcha doing, Derin?" A familiar voice says behind me. I turn around to see Coronamon with Whispered right behind him.
"I want to leave the village and explore with the two of you." I say with a straight face. The two look at each other and then back at me.
"Why?" Whispered, his claws barred.
"Well, you two have been here for a long time right?" I say. "If we explore, we can train and the two of you can get stronger!" I smile. "Besides, it will be fun!"
"Sure!" Coronamon says excitedly. He runs up to me, hugs me and then runs down the hill to the edge of the forest beyond. "Come on Derin! Come on Whispered!" He yells and waits. I turn to Whispered.
"Like I said, you can get stronger"
"So?" He snaps.
"Don't you want Coronamon to be happy? And you could protect him better!" Whispered's angry eyes turn into ones of grief.
"Fine, but only for Coro." Whispered says as he shoves me to the ground and runs to be with Coronamon. I smile and get up and join the two at the bottom of the hill. We walk down the path together, looking at the new sense of scenery makes me feel a whole lot more at ease. I walk behind the two, the sound of branches breaking and the soft breeze fill the air. The two aren't talking to me or each other.
It seems like hours of walking when Coronamon finally says something.
"Can we rest? My legs hurt." He whines. I smile.
"Sure, we can rest." The three of us lay down against trees and soon Coronamon is out. I lay against my tree.
"Where are we actually going, Derin?" Whispered asks as he turns to face me.
"Well…um…there is a volcano that I really want to visit. I heard about it from the baby digimon."
"Uh huh, sure buddy." he says sarcastically. "As long as Coro doesn't get hurt, got it?"
"Yeah." I say. "Why do you care so much about Coronamon anyway?" I say and Whispered lays on his back looking up at the sky.
"Understand this, me and him have been through a lot, and if you were told the whole story, you wouldn't want to believe we became good friends. Now stop asking questions, asshat." He says and growls softly. I chuckle at the crude remark. He snuggles against Coronamon and I pull out my fusion loader. I decided to play with it and see if I can find any new features. It glows a bit and shows me a map of some sort.
"It's like a GPS of some sort." I say as I smile as I scroll through the map. I glance at the red dot that is blinking. That must be where we are at right now. I play with the thing for what seems like hours because both of them have woken up. "I think I finally found a way out of the forest!" I exclaim happily. Coronamon cheers as well but Whispered just stares towards the ground, completely unamused.
"Let's go then!" Coronamon says as he grabs Whispered's hand to pull him up. They both trot behind me as we follow the GPS. We make our way through the woods. After tripping on a bunch of roots, being attacked by bugs and poison ivy, and getting hit in the face with branches, we finally make it out of the lust forests and onto a plain grassland.
I look over to see a bunch of rotting trees that look rather big.
"Oh, I wonder how those trees died. Must have been a huge storm." Coronamon and Whispered stop dead in their tracks, looking more shocked than me.
"Those aren't dead trees…" Coronamon says with shaky breath. Whispered steps in front of him.
"That's a tribe of Woodmon!" He exclaims quietly. We begin walking softly yet at a pace where they hopefully won't notice us. And luck may have it, I fall.
"Agh!" I yell as I face plant into the ground. Of course, and sadly, the tribe notices us and becomes very enraged. A hoard of like six of them come up and surround us. I manage to scramble to my feet. "Umm…I like what you guys are doing with your…wood?" I chuckle nervously as I hear a growl emit from Whispered.
"Leaf Slider!" All the Woodmon yelled as they shot hundreds of poisonous leaves at us. After many good cuts to the head and body, my whole body trembles and I fall to the ground, unconscious.
My head throbs as I slowly regain consciousness. I look over to see Whispered tied up in ropes and I look down to see me in the same situation.
"Look what your dumb actions have gotten us into!" He snarls as he motions his head forward. I look across the room and see Coronamon tied up and upside down over a fire. We hear large stomps and a much larger tree digimon comes out. Unlike the Woodmon, It bears leaves and red like fruit. It is much larger and wields a cane and has a bushy mustache.
"I am Cherrymon! Leader of the Woodmon tribe! Today, we have found three trespassers in our land and we shall sacrifice one as a lesson to all!" Cherrymon exclaims and me and Whispered both let out a very loud gasp. This makes a certain black and blue cat very angry.
"NO!" Whispered yells. "You will not be taking my Coro away from me! Sacrifice the human instead, he is the one who got us here in the first place!" He yells, shocking even me. I look at him wide eyed in astonishment.
"How could you say that to my face…" I mutter and he looks at me with a hateful glare.
"Ever since you walked in here, you have not only put me in danger but Coronamon! I can't be near you disgusting humans any longer! Because all you do is fuck up my life!" He yells, shocking not only me but Coronamon and practically the whole tribe.
"Ahem..?" Cherrymon interrupts. "I'm just going to say it now, you three and good to go." He laughs awkwardly as the Woodmon unties us. I stand up and just stay still, staying deep in thought. Whispered runs and gets Coronamon. He runs out of the hollow nest. With an emotional groan I ran after him and Coronamon.
"Wait!" I yell as I catch up with them. "We need to talk." I say.
"We don't need to do anything" Whispered yells at me. "Me and Coro are going back to the primary village so that we can enjoy ourselves and be happy again. Are you that blind that you can't see what your alone presence is doing to us?! Coronamon almost got sacrificed by a bunch of trees!" He exclaims, holding Coronamon's hand."
"Well, what does Coronamon have to say?" I yell back. A long silence is broken by soft sobs.
"Coro…" Whispered sighs and gives a hateful glare. "We'll be leaving. Good luck trying to get to that volcano without us. I bet you aren't even trying to get to a volcano." he grunts out and turns away from me and starts walking away. Coronamon faces me.
"I don't know how to feel about you humans, but just know that Whispered always takes the more hateful or violent approach so that's the reason he acts the way he does. I hope you can understand. Goodbye Derin, it was nice meeting you." He says calmly as he goes to follow Whispered.
"I don't need them anyway." I huff and walk the other way as the sun sets on the digi world once more.
