I spent weeks doing nothing, and then I am getting back on more checked. I suppose you can say that the previous weeks had gotten quite crazy. It's what it is.
Back when I started this chapter, the end of my lockdown days had set in. I would get back to work. And I was all the happier for it. It's called being an adult;
Thanks to CHAT GTP, some of the stuff I wrote for the chapter is now playing in my head. I believe there is much that can be done around that.
But I never have felt, no I never have felt this way before,
I'm looking down on my body below,
I lie asleep in the midst of a dream,
Is it now could it be that the angel of death has come for me?
Started on 21/10/2020
Ended on 25/10/2020
Ichika wasn't sure how his dream went, but he couldn't shake the feeling that those dreams had a real meaning. But what could they mean? That was a good question.
"Ichika?" His musings came undone as Minato shook him. His brother's friendly smile appeared, and the Knight relaxed a bit.
"Are you okay?" Minato asked. Ichika shrugged but decided to tell him what he remembered from his dream.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just had a weird dream last night." The entire Flock turned to Ichika, who now felt their prying eyes on him.
"Dream? What sort of dream?" Matsu asked, adjusting her glasses.
"Dreams are important to us. It's how Big Brother found me," Kusano remarked, reminiscing about the dreams that had happened.
"It's true. Dreams can reveal a lot," Musubi said, ruffling Ichika's hair.
"Did you have a dream about us? Naughty boy," Uzume winked at him, and Ichika deadpanned at them.
"I didn't. Uzume, it wasn't about you. I don't remember much from that dream, but it's still nagging me." Minato nodded at Ichika, now interested.
"What do you remember of that dream, Ichika?"
"Only a few things. The color blue, a cat, and rushing water. That was about it. And this—the feeling of maliciousness and mischief," Ichika concluded, and all eyes shifted from him to Waterdere.
"What? I haven't dreamt about Ichika. Are thou out of your minds?" Waterdere protested.
"It wasn't Tsukiumi. I'm sure of that. While she uses water as her power, she lacks the color blue. Plus, the attitude of whatever it was that I dreamt of doesn't match hers. But Tsukiumi, I have a question for you," Ichika continued.
The woman waited for his question with curiosity.
"Can you summon water? Like in a wall of it, rushing up or down?"
"Sure, that's no problem for me. Did that happen in your dream?" Ichika scratched his cheek. Thundering water was part of it, but he couldn't remember whether it came from a wall or a waterfall.
"I think so, yeah. I have some ideas. Can we try that?" He glanced at his plate, still full. Miya would never forgive them if they left their plates empty.
"After breakfast," he conceded, and Miya nodded at him. The rest went back to eating, conversing with Minato about the days ahead. Ichika began to settle in more, the Sekirei growing so accustomed to him that they didn't even seem that excited around him anymore.
Which suited him just fine.
Outside, Ichika was ready for Tsukiumi, clad in a borrowed pair of swimming trunks from Minato. The girls raised an eyebrow at his change of attire.
"Ichika, what hast thee planned?" Tsukiumi inquired.
"Tsukiumi, you said you could make a water wall, right?" Ichika asked. Tsukiumi nodded. Her pregnancy hadn't greatly affected her ability to manipulate her powers.
"Yes. That is no problem."
"Great, can you make one for me?" At his request, she conjured a towering wall of water.
"He's going to jump through that wall, right?" Uzume joked as the group watched the scene unfold.
Ichika sprinted towards the water wall and, despite the high-speed current, successfully made his way through it. Tsukiumi looked mildly surprised, and the Flock turned their gaze to Uzume.
"What? I was joking."
Chiho nestled herself in a lap, causing Kusano to pout as the Ashikabi girl chose Minato's lap. Kazehana noticed and gently placed the Green Girl in her lap.
Uzume rolled her eyes but found Musubi resting her head in her lap. She didn't mind, and her thoughts drifted to the Miko's hair growth. Musubi, with her already long hair, might appreciate it growing even longer.
Matsu sat down with her arms crossed. This Ichika was something else. If Minato would allow it, she might conduct some experiments on him. Ichika's ability to pilot the Infinite Stratos as a male clearly marked him as extraordinary.
"Tsukiumi, could you please amp up the current?" Ichika requested.
Matsu stood corrected. Ichika was insane.
"If that is thy wish," Tsukiumi replied, intensifying the water's flow. Ichika threw himself through the vigorous current again and jogged back, dripping and exhilarated by the cold water—a welcome relief given the increasing heat.
Summer was intensifying; it wasn't even 10 in the morning, and the temperature had already reached 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit).
Kagari returned with bags of popcorn. Minato gratefully took one but passed it to Kusano. Musubi cracked open one eye.
"Do you think that Ichika wants to spar with me again?" she asked Minato.
"It's too hot for that. Musubi, wait until it cools down a bit, and there's less risk," Minato replied.
Kazehana giggled at Minato's protective nature.
"Protective. Do you think that Ichika will seduce us?" Minato shook his head, his gaze firmly on the Wind Woman, making his protective stance clear.
"I am protective for another reason. You all are carrying a child. If we can avoid risks, we should. I don't want anything to happen to you."
Minato took his role as an upcoming father seriously. If his interactions with Kusano were any indication, and now this, the girls were fortunate to have him.
They would have to get used to his protective nature, but none of the Sekirei blamed him for it—he had always been responsible. Tsukiumi, meanwhile, was still adjusting to Ichika's daring antics with the water streams.
"Can you change it?" Tsukiumi looked baffled at Ichika's request, prompting a soft laugh from him. He had to explain further.
"The stream goes from up to down. Can you make it go from down to upwards instead?" Tsukiumi smiled at Ichika, finding no issue with his request.
'This young man. What an excellent man he is.' Ichika then hurled himself through the altered stream. Tsukiumi carefully controlled the force of the water, ensuring it was strong enough for the challenge but not enough to harm Ichika despite the discomfort.
The pilot seemed unfazed by a bit of discomfort, judging from the grunts that accompanied his efforts. After breaching the water wall, Ichika dodged the subsequent shots aimed at him by Tsukiumi. The blasts and arrows flew towards him, yet he evaded each one.
The rule was that he had to tap her on the nose to indicate a stop. Meanwhile, the rest of the family switched activities: Kusano sat in Minato's lap, Chiho napped with Uzume, and Matsu retired to her room while Kagari picked up a book. When the heat subsided, Musubi took over Ichika's training spot.
Minato marveled at where the stamina and energy came from, knowing Chifuyu was extraordinary, but Ichika, despite sharing the same blood, wasn't nearly as strong.
Miya observed Ichika with a hint of interest. Despite hours of training, Ichika showed no signs of fatigue. He wasn't normal; that much was clear.
The word 'failure' wasn't one she favored, but 'incomplete' might describe what Ichika was. When Tsukiumi switched with Musubi, she was visibly exhausted. Regulating her power proved far more strenuous than unleashing it fully.
After a long kiss (during which Minato shielded Kusano's eyes), Tsukiumi felt her energy partially replenish.
"I am going to bathe. Thy brother has stamina," Tsukiumi declared before leaving.
Minato's eyes bored themselves into her ass. Tsukiumi was exhausted.
Undressing, she was happy that no one was around now. Stretching herself, she found that her body was strained. The holding back had done a lot to her.
She found Ichika to be a well-trained young man and thought he would make an excellent Ashikabi.
He was polite, friendly, hardworking (maybe a bit too much), and a good talk.
But above all, he looked away when the girls were in a state of undress. Ichika couldn't be labeled a pervert.
He wasn't up to par with Matsu, Uzume, and Kazehana. Even her dear husband had grown more perverted.
'Those IS girls. I don't get it. Ichika is one good boy.' Tsukiumi mused as she lay back, craning her neck.
'If anything, he would be wasted on those girls.' She chuckled, realizing that despite everything, she shared a lot in common with them—especially one in particular—that Laura girl.
'A bride. Come on. Even I know the proper term.' Ichika had once joked that the Sekirei were corrupting him.
In some ways, Tsukiumi found it delightful to pamper her little 'brother.'
'Those girls. Ichika has too much potential. None of them are suited for him.'
She smiled, and a silent promise was made—one that no one else heard.
Tsukiumi would protect Ichika. Alongside her sisters, she was determined to do so.
In the mud fight that ensued, Musubi strategically used her footing to position herself. Unlike her usual gym outfit, she donned a swimsuit while Ichika still wore his trunks.
"I do wonder how you guys are friends despite all the differences," Kazehana mused as she lay back, watching Musubi dance around Ichika. Minato, treating Kusano like a giant cat, watched as she remained peacefully asleep, giving Ichika the opportunity to focus.
"We do have our differences, like our age, for starters," Minato said just as Ichika attempted to tackle Musubi to the ground. Instead, she grabbed him from behind and hoisted him up like a ragdoll.
"But Ichika and I share similarities too, like our family issues and the fact that we're both calmer compared to our sisters." Ichika managed to remain composed as Musubi held him in a hold, her breasts pressing pleasantly against his back.
Suppose she wasn't trying to break him. Calculating his move, Ichika kicked at her knee. It wasn't painful, but the grip loosened enough for him to flip her over his body. Racing down, he caught her arm and pulled her into a hook while Musubi, careful not to exert too much pressure, adjusted her grip over his shoulder.
"And the fact that we just work. If it weren't for the Infinite Stratos or my Sekirei, we might have run into each other naturally." Minato might not physically spar with Ichika like Musubi, but his strategic thinking had proven indispensable.
Kazehana smiled at that answer and leaned in to kiss her Ashikabi. "You can't watch over him all the time. It's not your job, Ashikabi." Minato grinned, pulling her closer.
"I know. But there was no one there for me, so as long as I can, I will help Ichika." It was a temporary solution, but Minato wasn't about to leave Ichika to fend for himself just yet.
When Ichika was safe and could look out for himself, that would be the time for Minato to step back. But all that was for later. Right now, as the sun began to set, Ichika lay defeated on the ground. Minato approached him.
"Good thing those trousers were already tarred because now I can throw them away," Ichika quipped.
"Well, maybe you can keep them. To do the Sekirei in," Minato joked back, but he hoisted Ichika up by his arms.
"You need a bath," Minato observed, sniffing under his shoulders and deciding that he could use one too. "The same can be said for me. Miya, can I bathe with him?"
The Pillar nodded in agreement. "Sure thing. I'll keep the others out."
With that, Minato led Ichika towards the bath.
"Exhausted? You've been fighting for hours?" Ichika asked as he took off his trousers, and Minato changed as well. Neither made a show of being naked; after all, they were both boys, and there was no awkwardness between them.
"I'm fine—no better sleeping pill than that. Besides, I wouldn't say I like wasting time. Schoolwork isn't as important as being strong," Ichika commented while scrubbing his body. He winced as he hit a rough patch where Tsukiumi had struck him.
"True, but wouldn't it be better to fight with your Infinite Stratos?" Minato questioned, pouring water over himself, ready for a good bath.
"Matsu still has Byakushiki. Besides, it doesn't matter too much. My body is strong, and it will help build my own strength," Ichika responded. Minato shrugged and strolled to the bath. The water was not too hot, which was perfect after the day's exertions. The girls would take their turn later; the boys were allowed to bathe first as long as they didn't linger too long. With Ichika around, the girls preferred not to have him see them naked.
On purpose.
After a while, Ichika and Minato found new clothes waiting at the exit, better than their usual ones. They rolled their eyes but were grateful.
"The bath is free," Minato announced as he walked back into the living room. The girls all turned to him, and after they were treated to a light show, Ichika and Minato sat down. Takehito nodded to them but remained focused on his newspaper. The doors were open to let the cool night air help lower the temperature inside the house.
The guys could hear laughter and splashing from the bath. It was clear the girls were enjoying themselves. Still, neither of the men thought about taking a peek—Minato because he had seen them naked before and Ichika because he saw no reason to with his 'sisters-in-law.' Plus, Miya would have none of it. Their stomachs rumbled when they smelled food being prepared.
Ichika realized that the Sekirei had many good qualities. Not taking hours in the bath was another point in their favor.
During dinner, Ichika had almost forgotten about the dream.
But the dream hadn't forgotten about him.
In the dream
Ichika walked through darkness. It wasn't complete blackness, yet the sky above was void of moon or stars, leaving him disoriented to the point of nearly checking his orientation peculiarly.
"Oh, you have returned." The voice came from behind him. Turning, Ichika didn't see anything, but the Blue Cat whisked past him. He took a deep breath.
"I am happy. I was bored without my toy," the voice taunted. Ichika gritted his teeth, glancing at his arm only to notice the bracelet was missing.
"I am not your toy. What do you want from me?" he challenged. Suddenly, the sound of rushing water heightened his fear, and he saw a massive wall of water looming ahead. Without hesitation, Ichika ran straight through it, leaving the voice behind in shock.
"What? How did you?" it stammered.
Ichika smirked, his confidence surging. "Tsukiumi's water is rougher. Learn from that woman," he retorted, continuing to run. The direction didn't matter as long as he escaped the grasp of the crazed entity pursuing him.
Out of the dream.
Ichika awoke, and upon seeing the ceiling, he realized where he was. The dream was vivid—filled with images of water, blue hues, and a cat. But now, he remembered the voice. It was familiar, similar to how Uzume often spoke, yet unlike the Veiled Sekirei's teasing; this voice carried a hint of maliciousness.
As the days passed, they melted quickly in the summer heat. Minato was buried in homework and couldn't spend much time playing with Ichika, but that didn't seem to bother anyone. The Sekirei, perhaps even enjoying the arrangement, were happy to have Ichika around to spend time with them.
Kazehana and Homura, both elemental types, trained with Ichika. They refrained from using their powers, instead offering theoretical tips to enhance his skills.
Kusano also reveled in the contact; she adored taking Ichika on shopping trips, and Minato grew increasingly fond of the little Sekirei's company.
The other Sekirei also warmed up to the male pilot. The atmosphere was light with jokes, and some spiritual comfort was always welcomed—a hug, a peck on the cheek, or a gentle kiss on the forehead was not uncommon, and Minato didn't mind. His trust in Ichika was evident, mainly because Ichika reciprocated the affection.
Even the Sekirei allowed the two boys to share a drink while watching the sunset, enjoying the simple pleasure of each other's company under the fading light.
At the Infinite Stratos Girls. Homework
Despite her formidable approach in battles, the homework was still a daunting beast Rin hadn't conquered. Hours had passed with her blocking out distractions, yet she felt no closer to completion. She sat at her desk, glaring at the stack of papers.
She was nearly done with it. A call interrupted her concentration. Hesitant but hopeful, she answered.
"Hello?" she queried, half-expecting it not to be Ichika yet still holding a sliver of hope.
"Rin, my girl, how have you been?" A small smile crept across her face at the sound of her father's voice.
"Hello, Dad. I'm fine, thanks for asking. How are things in China?" she responded, imagining his smile through the phone.
"Things are fine here, but it's one hot summer. So, how is Ichika?"
"He's out, Dad. Haven't seen him that much," Rin replied, her voice tinged with disappointment.
"Ah, pity. So, how's your homework? Is it finished?" Her father's question made sweat trickle down her back. She let out a nervous laugh.
"Sure, Daddy, I sure did," she fibbed, hearing his laughter on the other end.
"That's good to hear. I'll chat with you later." Nervously, she ended the call. It was a white lie; she was nearly done, but not quite. She reassured herself that once this ordeal was over, she would have everything sorted out.
She wasn't the only one struggling to finish.
Charlotte was done—completely done. The horror of homework had finally ended. Laura shared the same relief. Both girls exchanged a look.
"Bed?"
"Bed." Both collapsed into their beds, still in their cat pajamas—a rare concession for Laura. All they craved now was sleep.
A few rooms away, another lesson was being learned, albeit of a different kind.
"My, Cecilia, where did you pick up this skill?" Chelsea teased her master as Cecilia showed surprising prowess. Chelsea had sworn never to let her mistress near the kitchen, but now, after spending more time there in the early years, Cecilia was finally getting the hang of cooking and cleaning.
"I learned it from a demon," Cecilia quipped, collapsing into her bed after completing most of her homework. Just one more day, she thought.
Meanwhile, Houki had stayed at the shrine during the summer, having finished her homework early. She spent hours training outside, slicing the air with her sword, perfecting her movements. Now exhausted, she hoped for an easier semester ahead.
"I hope next semester will be easier," she mused aloud, weary of the increased difficulty. English was a struggle for her, a sentiment her brother shared. Their aunt, ever watchful, insisted on overseeing Houki's work, puzzled by the school's decision to ramp up the difficulty.
And then there was Yukiko, pondering over Ichika's complexities. The boy seemed to harbor quite a few secrets. No one had seen Tabane since the incident, and despite everything, perhaps it was for the best.
Line break. Back at the Sekirei
On the last day of summer, Ichika had made a special request: for everyone to keep their schedules open. The Sekirei, along with Minato and Takehito, had given Ichika the best summer of his life and the most stable few weeks he had experienced in a long time. It was only fitting that he should repay their kindness.
"Okay, Ichika? You got something planned?" Takehito asked, sensing the anticipation.
In response, Ichika produced a stack of tickets and passed them around along with a flyer. The girls' eyes lit up with excitement.
"A water park?" they exclaimed, passing the flyer among themselves, their excitement mounting.
"I hope you guys will enjoy a day out because you've been incredible hosts. I want to repay you for that. Also, there's a festival in the evening. Maybe we can head there as well." The response wasn't simultaneous, but it carried unanimous enthusiasm—a resounding yes.
Little did they know that they would not be the only ones attending the day's events.
Traveling with the Sekirei was effortless as Musubi and Miya carried Minato and Takehito through the sky. Ichika, meanwhile, had his unique means of transportation, thanks to Matsu's enhancements to the Byakushiki, including a large battery that made using Reiraku Byakuya more manageable.
Minato chuckled, knowing that Ichika would safely tuck away the bracelet once they were at the pool.
"Pretty large place," Matsu remarked as they neared the entrance.
"Let's just get inside and see what they have to offer," Ichika suggested, eager to start their day.
If they had lingered at the entrance a little longer, they might have noticed they were not the only ones there.
Five girls converged unexpectedly.
Houki had received a ticket from her aunt. After an extended stay at the shrine, where she had helped out significantly, she was now eager to enjoy some fun on her last day. If only Ichika were here. Since the festival, she hadn't ventured out to find him, choosing instead to stay home and care for the shrine.
"What are you doing here?" Houki was snapped out of her thoughts by the familiar voice. Standing before her was Lingyin 'Rin' Huang, dressed perfectly for summer.
"I could ask you the same thing," Houki retorted, her gaze sharp as she faced her rival. She hadn't seen Rin since the cleanup.
"What are you doing here?" Rin echoed with a smirk.
"That is my line," interrupted a haughty voice. Both turned to see Cecilia Alcott approaching, clad in a light summer dress.
"Right back at you," Rin shot back, her glare now shifting between Cecilia and Houki.
"Tokyo is where Ichika went, according to Orimura-sensei," Houki muttered, half-tempted to reveal that Ichika was actually hiding out at Minato's place—a fact she doubted would persuade him to appear quickly.
"That is true, but it doesn't explain why you three are here after my wife?" The voice came from Cecilia's right. Turning, they saw Charlotte Dunois and Laura Bodewig joining them, both dressed in casual summer attire—Laura in a black shirt and Charlotte in a beige dress with short sleeves.
"It looks like we're all here," Charlotte sighed, exchanging a glance with Laura. It was time to reveal the truth.
"Ichika is behind those walls," she announced, dropping the bombshell.
"What did you say?" Cecilia demanded confirmation.
"You aren't kidding?" Rin was next to react.
"He's here?" Houki stared incredulously at the surrounding walls.
Without another word, all five girls sprinted toward the hallway, determination etched on their faces. Security cameras captured the scene, likely giving the security team quite the spectacle to observe.
Inside the water park, Ichika was blissfully unaware of any impending drama as he changed into a better swimsuit provided by Minato. Takehito, surprisingly fit despite years of dormancy, was already dressed in his trunks.
"I'm glad the girls kept their swimsuits," Minato joked as they entered the vibrant park area, filled with slides, torrents, and expansive pools.
"Damn, we got this all to ourselves," Takehito remarked, admiring the vast setup.
"We sure do," Ichika agreed, just as they turned around to be greeted by the stunning sight of their Sekirei companions in swimwear.
Musubi wore a tight pink swimsuit with her hair in twin tails, while Tsukiumi sported a modest light blue one, her hair also neatly tied up. "Minato, what do you think?" she asked, seeking approval.
"It's pretty fitting on you," Minato replied with a smile.
Kazehana, flaunting a bit more boldly, teased, "Oh, and what does our dear Ashikabi-kun think of my swimsuit?" She flexed her arms, giving a clear view of her ample cleavage.
Ichika, trying to keep his composure, admitted, "It fits you well."
Matsu's choice was a yellow swimsuit that complemented her hair color. Her usual glasses were absent. "Like what you see, boys?" she flirted.
Kagari opted for a modest white piece that still highlighted her figure. "I hope you two don't mind that I am wearing this?"
"It suits you well, Kagari," Minato complimented, with Ichika nodding in agreement.
Miya wore a purple dress over her swimsuit, capturing Takehito's full attention. Kusano, in a cute two-piece, playfully challenged, "You can look at me as well, big brothers." Ichika ruffled her hair affectionately.
Meanwhile, Uzume sported a revealing yellow swimsuit, and Chiho chose a modest black one-piece that subtly accentuated her developing curves. Both received a thumbs-up from Ichika.
Without waiting for further approval, Kusano splashed into the pool, followed by laughter from Ichika, who quickly joined her. The adults, shaking their heads at the youthful exuberance, settled around the pool to watch. Miya took a seat beside her husband, a pang of nostalgia hitting them as they watched their beloved charges enjoy themselves.
Minato dived in after the youngsters, followed closely by Musubi and Tsukiumi. The latter made adorable noises as she hit the water. The playful chaos escalated, with water fights breaking out among the group.
Ichika, with Kusano on his shoulders, readied himself for battle. "Forward loyal mount. We will take them," Kusano commanded.
"At your service," Ichika replied, moving swiftly through the water with her.
Matsu and Kazehana teamed up against Minato and Uzume while Kagari skillfully navigated the waters around them. Laughter and splashes filled the air as the Sekirei and their Ashikabi enjoyed a carefree day, momentarily free from any concerns beyond the pool's edge.
Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched—five pairs of eyes filled with jealousy observed intently. The IS girls had united with a singular mission: to rescue Ichika from the captivating allure of the Sekirei. It was their first real glimpse of the competition.
Charlotte, her hair pulled back into a ponytail, donned a blue bikini, her usual self-consciousness about her chest momentarily set aside. Houki, clad in a red bikini and keeping her signature ribbon, felt a twinge of insecurity as she watched Kazehana's effortless grace around Ichika.
Rin, in an orange one-piece with her hair in twin tails, turned blue with shock. The reality was more striking than any picture—seeing the Sekirei's formidable presence in person was jarring. Laura chose a modest white one-piece, puzzled by how such well-endowed women could also be fierce warriors.
Cecilia, also in a bikini but opting for white like Houki and Charlotte, frowned at the sight of a Sekirei playfully pulling Ichika into the water. Their carefree, flirtatious behavior irked her.
Meanwhile, Matsu laughed heartily as she pulled Ichika back up, enveloping him in a warm hug. The group then drifted towards the current, with the IS girls stealthily following, determined to discover what Ichika found so appealing about these enigmatic women—and to save him from these "dangerous aliens."
As Ichika floated effortlessly with the current, planning to tackle the slides later, another observer took in the scene. Seated in the shade, Chifuyu removed her sunglasses and surveyed the festive chaos. Watching Minato drag Ichika along in conversation, she felt a rare sense of relief—her brother was safe here, perhaps safer than anywhere else under her watchful eye.
"Well, I'll be damned," she murmured. Unnoticed by Ichika, Chifuyu was dressed casually in a blue bikini paired with purple shorts. Beside her, Maya, clad in a pink bikini with a jacket thrown over, was also watching the scene unfold.
"Isn't that Ichika-kun?" Maya asked, pointing out the family dynamics at play. Musubi energetically tugged Ichika across the water, showcasing his enjoyment.
"Aren't you going to say hi? And is that really Minato Sahashi?" Maya couldn't believe Ichika hadn't noticed his sister or reacted to her presence.
"Nope. I don't think he would appreciate that. Plus, that harem might actually do me some serious harm if I interrupt," Chifuyu responded with a half-smile.
"Minato prefers the term 'flock,' young Chifuyu," a voice said, causing Maya to gulp. Chifuyu turned, only to meet Miya Asama's stone-cold gaze.
"Hello, Miya." Chifuyu greeted, noticing Takehito standing behind her, likely there as a mediator. She sensed his patience with her had waned.
"Takehito."
"Chifuyu, it's a coincidence that I saw you here. I hope you're not chasing after your little brother." Chifuyu shook her head.
"I don't think that's healthy, Teach. And I suppose your wife has some words for me?" Miya sat down, her gaze sharp and penetrating as she faced Chifuyu, who took a deep breath, preparing for the confrontation.
"Chifuyu, I'll be brief. Your brother spent the entire summer training at my place." Miya's tone was firm, and though Chifuyu scoffed, Miya continued without flinching. "You might be disappointed with him, seeing how weak he is."
"On the contrary," Miya corrected sharply, "compared to a Sekirei, he's not a formidable challenge, but you'd be surprised at his progress. He trained for hours with Musubi and Tsukiumi. What he lacks in strength, he makes up with willpower. It's rare to see a heart as strong and passionate as his. Considering the treatment he's endured from you and others, it's a wonder his spirit remains unbroken."
"I am just acting as his teacher," Chifuyu interjected, but the air around Miya grew colder.
"Cut the crap. Acting as his teacher doesn't excuse the horrendous treatment you've allowed him to suffer. And while I believe he won't end up like you, he has learned more in this last month with the girls than from you or me." Miya paused, collecting her thoughts before delivering each word with weight.
"Ichika wasn't happy at ISA. It would be best if you had protected him, but instead, you abandoned him there. When Minato offered help, Ichika clung to that chance. Even from afar, it's clear how much Minato cares for him. But how long can Minato keep this up?"
The boys ascended the stairs, oblivious to the intense conversation. Miya offered a small smile to them, turning back to Chifuyu.
"If the next semester is like the last, you may find Ichika slipping through your fingers. His lack of attachment to the ISA girls isn't surprising, but if he comes to resent you, it could sever your ties completely. All your achievements would mean nothing."
Miya stood, her stance resolute as she prepared to leave. "I don't think Ichika hates you now, but he fled from your home to escape. Remember, Chifuyu, Minato's primary loyalty will always be to his Flock, especially now that they are expecting. He will support Ichika, but not at their expense. It's up to Ichika to accept that."
Chifuyu opened her mouth to respond, but a phone call interrupted her. As she listened, her emotions churned violently inside. Miya's words struck deep, echoing truths Chifuyu was reluctant to face.
She glanced over her shoulder. From a distance, she could see Ichika, clearly thriving in Minato's care, stronger and more confident. It was a bittersweet realization.
At the waterslide
The IS girls were eager to join the fun but found their way barred by two stern older women.
"What's up? We want to go up there?" Rin stamped her feet impatiently, but the guards remained unflustered.
"I'm sorry, but the maximum number of people allowed up there has been reached. You'll have to wait until the next round," one of the women explained calmly.
Charlotte was about to protest when they heard Ichika's voice from above. The girls looked up, relieved to see that no other girl was near him.
"Aight, race you to the pool!" Ichika shouted, and just like that, he and the Sekirei were off, slipping from the IS girls' grasp.
Musubi was comfortably sitting in Minato's lap while Kazehana and Chiho teamed up, Uzume hoisted Kusano, and Matsu was instructed to sit in Kagari's lap to prevent any mischief. Tsukiumi waited for Minato to return, and Ichika took the slide solo. The thrill of the slide was exhilarating.
Kazehana and Chiho reached the pool first, exchanging high-fives. Uzume ensured Kusano's safety while Musubi laughed joyfully, wrapped securely in Minato's arms. Ichika, who came in fourth, couldn't help but turn as red as a beacon when he caught Kagari's hands wandering inside Matsu's bikini, prompting a burst of laughter from the group.
Tsukiumi, still at the top of the slide, watched Minato hurry back up to join her for a duo slide while the rest of the family gathered at the bottom to watch the splashes.
Meanwhile, the IS girls managed to secure a spot higher up for a better view, but by the time they looked down, the Sekirei group was already moving away from the slide pool.
"At this rate, we'll never get Ichika out of their clutches," Charlotte lamented, peering over the railing in frustration.
"You have a better idea?" Houki asked, arms crossed, as they observed the group heading towards the wave pool.
"Yes, I think I have one." Charlotte's tone hinted at a darker plan, but first, they had to take their turn on the slides. Deciding to go alone, they prepared themselves for the descent; each lost in thought about the next move in their strategy to reclaim Ichika.
At that wave pool
Anticipation buzzed through the group, with Kusano confidently gearing up. Her swimming skills negated the need for inflatables. Ichika felt a rush of adrenaline, unaware of the danger that loomed above.
Infiltrating the control room was a simple task for a couple of IS pilots. Unaware of the impending risk, they surveyed the scene.
"It looks like the waves are heading our way," Chiho noted with excitement, her anticipation shared by the rest of the group. As the first wave approached, Ichika heard someone call his nickname.
"Hey, Orimu!" Turning his head, he was greeted by a familiar face. Honne, along with a few other girls from ISA, was waving from a banana boat. Ichika always wondered why Honne chose such baggy clothes; she concealed a surprisingly fit figure.
"Nohohon-san! Hey, what's up?"
If Ichika remembered correctly, Kiyoka flashed a smile behind her. "We're not the only ones from ISA here. You're with the others?" Before Ichika could respond, a powerful wave surged forward, sweeping him under as the boat drifted past.
"Drive it up?" Laura asked from the controls while Rin and Charlotte monitored security.
"Yes," Houki responded determinedly.
"Make them as high as you can," Cecilia instructed, watching as Ichika struggled against the overwhelming waves. Despite his efforts, he was continuously pulled under.
Ichika fought to stay calm and conserve oxygen. 'Crap, I need to get up.' Before he could act, two strong arms enveloped him from below. Relaxing his body, he allowed his rescuer to guide him upwards.
As soon as he broke the surface, he gasped for air and began to cough, grateful for the timely intervention.
At the wave pool, chaos receded thanks to Tsukiumi's intervention. Ichika, gasping and coughing from the rogue waves, was quickly steadied by Tsukiumi.
"Ichika, are thee alright?" Tsukiumi asked, her concern evident as she supported him.
He nodded, still coughing, and watched as Tsukiumi's eyes narrowed at the tumultuous waters. "I do not know what is going on behind those controls, but it ends now!" She declared, her gaze fixed on the control room entrance.
With a powerful display of her abilities, she calmed the raging waters, allowing her fellow Sekirei and Minato to reach the poolside safely.
Meanwhile, the IS girls behind the controls weren't so fortunate. A massive wave, redirected by Tsukiumi's intervention, crashed into the control room, sweeping them out. "Let's get out of here," Chiho suggested, and the group hurried out just before security stormed in.
The control room was a scene of confusion. The oldest security guard scratched his head in disbelief. "What the hell? Who was on duty?" He noticed the operator, Yori, lying outside the room, dazed and confused. "Yori, I hope that you got a good explanation. Are you drunk?" he demanded.
"No, sir. I don't know what happened, but I was grabbed from behind. Next thing I know, you guys are waking me up," Yori stammered.
Thankfully, most of the equipment was waterproof, but how the waves had flooded the control room remained a mystery.
Outside the chaotic scene at the wave pool, a makeshift beach had formed. A net was set up, and volleyball balls scattered about. "So, who wants to play?" Minato called out, ready to shift the mood with some light-hearted competition.
Chiho and Kusano opted out, their height making them feel at a disadvantage, so they sat by contentedly watching. Minato teamed up with Musubi, Ichika, and Tsukiumi, while Uzume, Matsu, and Kazehana formed the opposing team. Despite the uneven numbers, the disparity in skill and power balanced the teams, and the game commenced.
As the teams rallied, Uzume and Kazehana demonstrated excellent teamwork. Minato and Ichika relied on their speed and agility, quickly becoming the focal point of their team's strategy.
Unbeknownst to the players, the IS girls observed from a distance, still reeling from the earlier spectacle.
"I can't believe that happened," Houki muttered, wringing out her wet hair.
"That power. Unbelievable," Laura added, her eyes wide with both admiration and concern.
"They are aliens. But still, it's ridiculous," Charlotte remarked, her gaze lingering on Ichika as he adeptly maneuvered through the game.
"That was a disgrace for us," Cecilia admitted grimly.
"Look at him now," Rin pointed out as they watched Ichika laugh freely, a sound so rare and joyful that it caught everyone's attention. Uzume whistled appreciatively as Ichika skillfully intercepted her ball.
As the volleyball game continued, each of the IS girls found themselves lost in their respective daydreams about what could have been their summer with Ichika.
Houki imagined a summer spent training at the shrine, where Ichika would learn the primary stages of discipline and strength. In her fantasy, Ichika was not only strong but also kind-hearted, especially towards children. Her hand instinctively touched her belly as she blushed, imagining growing stronger alongside him.
Rin's thoughts drifted to a summer filled with culinary adventures. She pictured herself and Ichika experimenting with new recipes, their days filled with joyous cooking sessions. She imagined leisurely days spent at amusement parks, followed by cozy evenings cuddling and laughing together.
Cecilia envisioned a different scenario. In her daydream, Ichika had returned with her to England to learn the proper ways of a butler, with Chelsea guiding him through the subtleties of servitude. Despite his physical strength, in her fantasy, Ichika gracefully accepted a subservient role.
Charlotte's fantasy was more straightforward and more intimate. She imagined quiet summer days spent in a tremendous room, lying close together but comfortable, their interactions filled with gentle kisses and soft touches in the summer heat.
Laura, on the other hand, dreamed of showing Ichika around her favorite spots and ensuring he was well cared for. She saw herself meticulously planning their dates while he prepared their picnics.
These fantasies momentarily distracted the girls from the reality unfolding before them. Watching Ichika laugh and skillfully play volleyball with the Sekirei, Cecilia, Houki, and Charlotte couldn't help but clench their jaws in frustration.
"We need to save him," Houki murmured, and the others nodded in agreement. Yet, even with their advanced Infinite Stratos technology, they were unsure if they could match the power of the Sekirei—their last encounter had made that painfully clear.
Under the relentless sun, they continued to watch Ichika, waiting for a moment when he might be alone. Despite the discomfort from the heat, they observed how Ichika had physically matured over the summer, his swimmer's build filling out impressively.
When Tsukiumi and Musubi finally took Ichika to get a drink, the girls saw a chance. Ichika, however, declined their invitation. "Nah, I'm going to take a nap here for a second. Go on ahead," he said, settling into a chair as the others walked away.
"Getting back used to being on my own again," Ichika mused to himself as he watched the group depart. Even in the bustling environment of the ISA, surrounded by numerous girls, he often felt a profound sense of solitude. Tomorrow, he knew, he would be alone again.
Ichika sighed internally, cursing under his breath as he reluctantly turned to face the group of girls he had hoped to avoid.
"You," he said, his voice flat as he regarded the five visibly agitated girls.
"Ichika," Houki's voice carried a dangerous edge, one that once would have sent shivers down his spine but which he had learned to disregard.
"What are you doing here?" Laura demanded, arms crossed.
"The attitude is most improper," Cecilia chimed in, her tone disapproving.
"Perv," Charlotte teased with a smirk.
"You got a lot of explaining to do," Rin added, her expression serious.
Ichika swung his legs casually, feigning a relaxed demeanor. "Ah, damn. And here I hoped for some peace. What are *you* doing here?" he retorted, meeting their collective glare with a challenging look.
"That is what we want to know. Why do you associate with *them*?" Houki's accusation was sharp.
"You mean? Hung out the entire summer with Minato Sahashi, my best friend," Ichika replied, his words striking a chord of jealousy in Rin and Houki.
"And the flock of aliens that were winged to him, the Flock of Sekirei," he continued, his smile turning wistful. He knew this revelation might be misunderstood or stir deeper resentments.
"I have to say, they pretty much ruined me. A girl's gotta try real hard to spoil me the same way as them," Ichika mused aloud. He knew well that the Sekirei's affection was overwhelmingly platonic, something he had deeply craved.
The five girls just glared at him in response.
"What? Don't like that one?" Ichika taunted lightly, reclining back onto the sun lounger.
"Ichika. Come with us," Houki said, her tone unnervingly calm.
Ichika shook his head, confidently smiling at them. " I don't want to. Minato is coming back soon with the Sekirei, so I'm not going anywhere."
To his surprise, but not shock, the girls deployed their ISes—clearly, they were severe. Ichika raised an eyebrow, unfazed by the display.
"Really? You're going to use your units over this?" he questioned, skepticism lacing his voice.
"What a load of bull," he muttered under his breath.
Just as the situation seemed about to escalate further, a sudden cough interrupted them. Ichika and the girls turned to see at least twenty security guards surrounding them, more than half of whom were women, clearly ready to intervene if necessary.
"You five are caught red-handed. It's not allowed in this park to demonstrate any forms of violence," the lead security officer declared. The girls, initially shocked, tried to protest their innocence.
"We were not doing anything," one insisted.
The oldest of the security guards rolled his eyes dismissively. "You deployed your Infinite Stratos. You won't do that to make a cup of coffee. As a result, you violated our rules. We employ the same rules when we have Sekirei. Out."
The girls wanted to retaliate, their frustration palpable. Still, the presence of cameras trained on them from all angles made it clear that any aggressive action would only worsen their situation. Reluctantly, they dissolved their Infinite Stratos and were escorted out amid their vocal protests.
"You're getting out."
"No refunds."
"You're under arrest."
"Please stay calm."
The scene of them being half-carried out by security became an unexpected source of humor for onlookers. Ichika, watching the debacle, wished he had his phone handy to capture the moment.
As the security team efficiently handled the situation, Ichika found himself under the watchful gaze of the senior security officer—a man clearly seasoned and not easily impressed. His demeanor suggested a wealth of experience, and his expectations for his team were undoubtedly high.
"You know them?" the security officer asked Ichika, his tone indicating a mixture of curiosity and disdain.
"Unfortunately. They're crazy, and I can tell you that," Ichika responded, earning the older man a shake of the head.
"That scientist. They can pilot some fancy thing, and they all think they're Chifuyu Orimura. I want to see a woman running my show."
"They do?" Ichika was momentarily confused.
"Yep. They had her in this for half a day. Women, I tell you." The officer clapped a heavy hand on Ichika's shoulder, his grip firm. "I never married, boy. And I advise every guy to do the same."
Ichika was about to engage further when Minato returned, carrying drinks. He handed a cola to Ichika, who quickly gulped it down.
"Hey, what's up?" Minato inquired, taking in the scene.
"Not much. It's just crazy stuff. We continue to play. The girls found a large bath," Ichika replied, eager to move past the incident.
Together, Ichika and Minato walked away, leaving the security guard to reflect on his own crew. Resisting the urge to light a cigarette, he watched the young men leave, proud of his team's handling of the situation.
As the evening set in, the festival ambiance embraced everyone, enhancing the festive spirit. After their bath, the entire group donned kimonos, which they had rented for the occasion.
Miya and Takehito chose colorful ones, while Ichika and Minato went for classic black.
Musubi wore a striking red, and Kusano chose vibrant green.
Uzume's white kimono matched Chiho's, creating a harmonious look.
Kazehana picked out a deep purple, Matsu a cheerful yellow, Tsukiumi a calming blue, and Kagari an ash grey.
With the summer hours dwindling and Ichika's return home imminent, a sense of finality settled over them. Yet, it was tinged with contentment from the fun and camaraderie they had experienced.
During the festival, Kusano made an adorable attempt to scoop fish, nearly tumbling into the water, but Ichika quickly steadied her.
They enjoyed the local cuisine, with the Sekirei displaying an enthusiastic appetite that Ichika and Minato humorously tried to match.
At one of the game stalls, Kusano's eyes lit up at a cute doll. With a team effort, the girls managed to win it for her, although Ichika admitted to not being exceptionally skilled at the game.
As they shared food like freshly made pork, the group reveled in the festival's simple joys. Despite the impending end of summer, the laughter and shared moments made the transition easier.
Finally, as the festival lights dimmed and the crowd thinned, they prepared to leave. The festive yukatas were exchanged for more practical clothes as they faced the reality of departure. Despite the early hour, exhaustion hadn't touched them, not even Kusano, who seemed as lively as ever.
"I suppose this is goodbye for now," Ichika remarked with a touch of sadness as he bowed respectfully to Miya and Takehito. "You were wonderful hosts. I thank you two for allowing me to stay."
"You were one wonderful guest to have around," Takehito replied with a warm smile. Miya stepped forward, holding something in her hands. "I do think my wife has something for you," she said.
Miya handed Ichika a carefully wrapped item. As he unsheathed it, his eyes widened in awe—it was a katana.
"Miya, are you serious?" Ichika asked, his voice filled with awe and gratitude. Miya smiled warmly and nodded, gently clasping her hands over his.
"Where you are going, you can use a sword. So here is my gift to you," she explained, her eyes conveying the profound significance of the gift.
"Thank you, Miya. You shouldn't have." Despite his protest, Ichika couldn't help but smile as he secured the sword on his back, feeling its weight.
"Brother, would you be so kind as to put me on the train?" Ichika asked, his voice thick with emotion as he fought back tears. He had had a blast this last summer, sharing unforgettable moments, yet now it was time to return home—to his other life that seemed worlds away.
Minato nodded, understanding the bittersweet moment. Together with the Sekirei, they walked to the station in contemplative silence, each step heavy with the weight of imminent departure.
At the platform, the farewells were heartfelt and tender. Ichika received hugs, kisses on the cheek, and a forehead kiss, each a token of affection and a promise of remembrance. Minato wrapped his arms around Ichika in a powerful embrace.
"Take care of yourself, brother," Minato said, his voice steady but filled with emotion.
"I will, brother," Ichika replied, his tone equally firm.
"If you need anything," Matsu interjected, her voice hopeful.
"I'll call. You all gave me one great summer. I owe you all," Ichika responded, his heart swelling with gratitude and love for the family he was leaving behind.
With final waves and choked back tears, Ichika boarded the train. Behind him, Kusano sobbed into Minato's neck, and the Ashikabi himself struggled to maintain his composure.
As the train pulled away, Ichika watched the group that had accepted and loved him standing there until they faded from sight.
Once alone, Ichika collapsed into a corner of the train car and allowed himself a few moments of weakness, sobbing softly. Heaven was behind him now, and ahead lay the challenges of his other life—the reality he often wished he could escape.
Line break. At the ISA
On the darkened roof of the Infinite Stratos Academy, four figures cast long shadows over the grounds below. The night was fantastic and electric with anticipation.
"It looks like it's my turn now. Team Blue Leader: Tatenashi Sarashiki," declared the girl with a hand on her hip and a mischievous cat-like smile. Her red eyes sparkled playfully under her cascade of blue hair, her appearance marked by a voluptuous figure, a yellow tie, and a short skirt.
"Not just yours, big sister. I am also moving in," chimed in another girl, who stood close by with her laptop open. It was time, she felt, to take back control of the school. Her research had recently turned up an unusual individual involved in triumph over The Sekirei Plan, which had caught her older sister's attention.
"So, that's the infamous Northern Ashikabi everyone talked about recently, Kanzashi. Soon enough, your services will no longer be needed, Minato Sahashi," Tatenashi said with a grin, confirming the name of her younger sister.
Kanzashi, slightly less imposing than her sister but sharing the same air of confidence, adjusted her glasses. Her hair and eyes shared the family trait, but she carried a more reserved presence.
"Don't forget about me," a voice called from behind them. The sisters turned to look over their shoulders at the other two.
"We couldn't," Tatenashi replied.
"Even if we wanted to," Kanzashi added with a slight smirk.
Standing at the end of the lineup was Airis Twilight Ruxezemburg and Djbril Emulail. Airis, shorter than Kanzashi, had long blond hair that flowed behind her and bright pink eyes that sparkled in the night. She wore a tiara, the closed-up form of her Infinite Stratos, and her uniform was adorned with angel wings on the sides, a pink sash, and a light blue frills skirt. Her smile was confident and slightly arrogant.
Next to her stood Djbril, taller and with a more mature, voluptuous figure. Her hair was styled in a braid draped over one shoulder, and her attire was reminiscent of a knight, adding a regal and formidable air to her demeanor.
"It looks like our Knight is to return," Djbril noted, her voice carrying a mixture of anticipation and command.
There are fewer words than in the original chapter, but it might be because I cut out the opening and closing song.
I am happy that I got a few more done. I had to catch up on it.
Saluut.
