The fight between Laura and Ichika will take place in this chapter. It was part of "Ghost of the Navigator," but the AI rewrite would make this too long, so it got a separate chapter.

I learned my lesson once before on the enormous chapters.

It's better to break it off.

Suppose we ended at 24K, OK, but on 30K. Not again. A Devil's Flock was a good enough example for that.

Hence, we are writing another chapter for the fight between Ichika and Laura.

I couldn't post the chapter without anything added to it so here we go

Moonchild, hear the mandrake scream,

Moonchild, open the seventh seal

I think that is for the best.

Chapter 12: 04/11/2019

Ichika, standing poised for the confrontation, couldn't help but think of the irony in his situation. If he knew his honorary uncle was momentarily distracted, he might have felt slighted, but facing Laura, with Houki just behind her, clearly presented the more immediate challenge.

Laura's grin broadened as their eyes locked, slicing through the tension.

"Did you really think we wouldn't face each other in the first round?" Laura taunted, her gaze fixed on Ichika.

Cracking his neck, Ichika responded with a determined look. "I had a hunch. Let's start. The faster I take you down, the sooner I can move on."

As the timer counted down, Ichika exchanged a quick, strategizing glance with Charlotte. The school held its breath in anticipation while Ichika silently hoped for Matsu's vigilant oversight.

From her position, Matsu monitored the duel through screens, ready to offer assistance. As the battle commenced, Ichika's IS surged forward, his flight path erratic and unpredictable, making it difficult for Laura to track him.

When he finally confronted her, Laura managed to block his initial assault. "Seems you've learned nothing," she taunted, a smirk on her face.

Ichika countered confidently, "On the contrary, you're missing the lesson here."

Before Laura could process his words, Charlotte launched a surprise attack from the side, unleashing a barrage of bullets. "We've got your number, Bodewig. We're not just going to beat you. We're going to ground you."

As Laura dodged the onslaught, Ichika seized the moment. With Laura focused on creating distance, Ichika darted behind her, ready to strike.

She could only turn to her side as Ichika attacked there. It wouldn't be fair, but Ichika would shove Yukihira up everyone's shithole who told him differently. Laura couldn't see it as her focus was on Charlotte. So, she had no chance to react.

"Excellent thinking, Ichika-tan," Matsu cackled as she sat down. The rest of the house watched the TV, captivated by the fast and violent display. Kusano was fascinated by the fighting, while Kazehana was affronted. Uzume and Chiho weren't too fond of the suits.

For Charlotte, however, there was more to come as Houki stopped the bullets and counterattacked. Even with a Uchigane, Houki's skills were formidable.

Charlotte pondered how it would be once she got her own IS. That might pose a bigger problem than now, as Houki had managed to stop the bullets. With her attack, she halted the German.

"You better not forget about me," warned Houki as she came after Charlotte. Ichika moved in to intercept her. Matsu advised him not to worry too much about her. Ichika hoped Matsu's prediction wouldn't come true.

She fiercely resisted when he confronted his childhood friend, struggling against the fight and weapons he wielded.

"Too bad." Ichika had to get used to the corners of his mouth turning upwards. Charlotte aimed her weapons at Laura, but the Silverite had a better idea. With her cables, she effortlessly yanked Houki out of the way.

"What are you doing?!" Houki shouted as she was cast aside like a ragdoll. Matsu had warned Ichika that Laura wouldn't see anyone as an ally and that Houki was merely an inconvenience to her.

He had hoped she was wrong, but alas, the Sekirei's prediction held, and now it was up to him and Charlotte to confront this formidable opponent.

Laura began to crossblades with Ichika, who had no difficulties keeping up. Matsu had provided information and footage, which he had studied meticulously. Countering Laura's moves became second nature to him.

Despite her focus on Ichika, Laura launched her daggers. Anticipating this, Charlotte quickly dodged. Before she could counterattack, it was clear Charlotte excelled in combat. Houki, undeterred, got back on her feet, ready to engage again.

Charlotte understood Houki's eagerness to challenge Ichika but was determined to prevent interference. "I'm sorry, I'm not Ichika. But you can't go through me."

Houki managed to block the bullets but couldn't close the distance. "Stop mocking me," she retorted.

"Are they planning to defeat Shinonono first?" Maya inquired in the control room, causing Chifuyu's eye to twitch uncontrollably.

"It'd be for the best. Bodewig isn't trained to fight against multiple units. She doesn't even regard her partner as an ally," Chifuyu admitted, convinced that the duo had some benefactor. Minato was becoming a real headache for her. Yet, this challenge might be precisely what Ichika needed.

"Even so, the teamwork between Orimura and Dunois is remarkable. They synergize exceptionally well," the mint-haired teacher conceded, finding amusement in her colleague's growing frustration.

"They received assistance from Sahashi again. But it appears they could use it."

In the heat of battle, Charlotte adeptly blocked Houki, using her knife with precision and skill, contrasting Cecilia's more grandiose backup.

Her knife, though small, proved effective in halting Houki's advances. Switching tactics, Charlotte employed her shotgun, forcing Houki into a defensive position from which she couldn't recover.

"Looks like I am at my end," Houki conceded, acknowledging her defeat. Without hesitation, Charlotte shifted her focus back to Laura, launching an assault that challenged her opponent's defenses.

As Ichika momentarily fell back, Charlotte regrouped with him. "Ready to go again?" she asked, ready for the next phase of their strategy.

"Yep. Let's continue. But first, Houki?" Ichika glanced towards Houki, relieved to see her stepping down. With Houki no longer a threat, they could concentrate on ending the fight.

"Let's not drag this out. We're going to finish this," Ichika declared with determination. Observing from afar, Matsu felt a thrilling chill at his resolve—it reminded her of the same intensity Minato displayed under pressure.

Heeding Matsu's advice, Ichika and Charlotte prepared for a decisive move. Charlotte provided covering fire, creating an opening for Ichika to advance on Laura.

Despite Laura's attempts to deflect with her AIC, Ichika adeptly navigated the battlefield, breaking through her defenses with a strategic retreat that caught Laura off guard.

Seizing the moment, Charlotte fired her bullets at Laura from the sidelines. The shots landed, causing Laura to stagger under the unexpected assault.

Ichika, pondering the effectiveness of their tactics, mused whether Charlotte's SMG was modeled after the P90 he remembered from a video game. This question lingered in his mind amidst the chaos of battle.

Line break. In a parallel universe.

Ichika observed from a distance, his attention divided between Mattheus, adapting to a new weapon under Kizuna's guidance, and Joel, the punk who had taken it upon himself to arm their group for the unforeseen battles ahead. The air was tense, charged with anticipation and the faint smell of gunmetal.

"Okay, that should do it," Joel announced, pride evident in his voice as he handed the sleek handgun to Mattheus. This new firearm, reminiscent of an FN Five-seveN, was a significant upgrade from the M1911A1 and was designed for efficiency and adaptability.

"Thanks for this, Joel," Mattheus replied with a smirk, his excitement palpable. Ichika watched, a smile creeping onto his face as Mattheus familiarized himself with the handgun's grip and balance.

"This smaller round can be utilized universally, offering less recoil and faster shooting. It's more user-friendly," Joel explained, his expertise shining through.

"It is a lot more comfortable to hold despite its larger size than my previous one," Mattheus observed, thoughtfully weighing the gun in his hand. Kizuna, somewhat taken aback by the conversation, couldn't help but interject.

"Hey, Mattheus. Why not consider a different weapon?" he asked, curiosity laced in her voice.

Mattheus shrugged, his gaze shifting towards his captain. "I'm more comfortable with guns. They're simpler to use, and I prefer them over swords. Besides, each of us has a preferred weapon. With you two excelling in close-quarters combat, someone needs to provide cover. For me, rifles are more natural, and switching between guns is seamless."

Joel lost in thought, pondered the prophecy that loomed over them—a Knight and Overlord, bearers of a heavy legacy, destined to be touched by many and wield a unique piece. Mattheus fits the role of the Hunter perfectly.

"Joel, what inspired this new gun design?" Ichika inquired, breaking the contemplative silence.

"Based on the Five-seveN, I've decided against integrating a P90. It might not be practical," Joel mused, his decision grounded in tactical reasoning.

Mattheus's grin widened at Joel's words. "Either way, let's get this party started. I need to fine-tune the system," Ichika declared, eager to see how the new dynamics would unfold.

Observing the interactions, Kizuna realized that Joel and Mattheus were inadvertently setting the pace for him and Ichika. Yet, far from viewing this as a drawback, he saw the potential for growth and unity among them.

Line break. Back to Brave New World

"You coward," Ichika taunted with a smile, seizing the moment as Charlotte attacked from the fringe.

Her bullets struck Laura, chipping away at her shield points with precision. As smoke billowed from Laura's machine, she attempted to retaliate against Charlotte, only for Ichika to close in from the opposite direction. Caught off guard, Laura struggled to track both assailants simultaneously.

Though Ichika didn't vocalize his thoughts, the unfolding battle proved Matsu's strategy correct. The AIC's limitation became apparent; it could only focus on one target at a time, leaving Laura vulnerable to a coordinated assault from two directions.

Observing from afar, Chifuyu contemplated the team's dynamics, questioning whether Matsu's insight was necessary for the duo's realization of their effective combination.

"Yet another potent combination," Maya observed, analyzing the combatants' tactics.

"They've figured it out, or at least have an idea. AIC requires Bodewig's full attention on a single attacker. It fails when the wielder cannot focus, especially against dual assaults targeting the fringes. This strategy is proving ineffective for her," she deduced.

Matsu, watching the screen intently, couldn't help but smile at Ichika and Charlotte's execution of their plan. Despite the initial strategy being discarded, their adaptability gave Laura a challenging fight.

"You two are doing great. But I need to look up more information. Something is bugging me," Matsu mused, hinting at more profound layers of strategy yet to be uncovered.

As Ichika closed in on Laura, he concealed his Reiraku Byakuya until the decisive moment. Launching a full-force attack, he sent Laura crashing to the ground.

Grateful for Matsu's advice to reserve the special attack for a critical moment, Ichika maximized its impact, leaving Laura unable to retaliate.

Before the dust could settle, Charlotte initiated her next assault, her bullets relentlessly piercing Laura's shields. Caught in a pincer attack, Laura was overwhelmed, her furious expression betraying her frustration.

Seizing the opportunity, Ichika expressed gratitude towards Charlotte, acknowledging her IS's versatility and contribution to their strategy. Laura's furious gaze met Ichika's, her frustration mounting as Matsu's predictions about the battle's dynamics came to fruition.

In the intricate chess game devised by Minaka, unpredictability was the only certainty. The arena, a testament to his foresight, had become a stage where anticipation of the opponent's moves was as crucial as the execution of one's own. As Laura engaged in combat, her focus narrowed on Ichika; she failed to anticipate the counterstrategy that was about to unfold.

Ichika, with a dancer's grace, sidestepped Laura's dagger, a move that seemed almost rehearsed. Charlotte seized this moment of distraction to unveil a new tactic: Shield Pierce.

This maneuver, executed at close range, dealt a significant blow to Laura, sending her to the wall with a force that underscored the attack's potency.

Ichika, momentarily relieved, could not afford the luxury of savoring the victory. His observant eyes caught the fleeting expression of determination on Laura's face amidst the rising smoke from the impact site.

The crowd's cheers, a mix of joy and shock, barely pierced his heightened state of alertness.

Chifuyu, overseeing the battle with a strategist's eye, couldn't mask her concern. The shift in dynamics was palpable.

Charlotte had stepped forward to assume the role of the close-quarters combatant, compensating for Ichika's dwindling energy reserves. Each hit was calculated as she closed in on Laura, methodically dismantling Laura's shield points with relentless precision.

Laura's inner turmoil bubbled to the surface as the battle reached its crescendo. Locked in a fierce struggle, her thoughts echoed the desperation of a warrior unwilling to face defeat:

'I can't lose. I just cannot lose.'

Yet doubt crept in, casting long shadows over her resolve. Memories of her past, of the days spent under Chifuyu's tutelage, flickered through her mind, fueling a transformation that none had anticipated.

Suddenly, Laura's Infinite Stratos began to morph, signaling a pivotal shift in the battle's tide. Onlookers, including Ichika, watched in stunned silence as the spectacle unfolded. It was as if they were witnessing a nightmare in broad daylight.

The air was filled with screams — a chilling testament to the agony of the transformation. What followed was akin to an energy bomb detonation, engulfing the arena in a blinding explosion of power.

As the luminous chaos subsided, a thunderous roar filled the space, hinting at the unleashed fury of nature itself. Schwarzer Regen, Laura's IS, emerged from the aftermath grotesquely altered, its form now appearing to consume her, a stark emblem of the struggle between control and capitulation.

"What is going on?" Charlotte's voice cut through the eerie silence that followed the tumult, her words echoing the collective bewilderment of the audience.

The spectators, gripped by a cocktail of horror and disgust, could only stare as the scene before them challenged the boundaries of their understanding.

As the chaotic transformation engulfed Laura, the atmosphere thickened with tension and uncertainty.

Ichika, caught amid the unfolding disaster, struggled to comprehend the magnitude of the event that was rapidly spiraling out of control. It was a moment that tested the very limits of what he thought possible within the world of the Infinite Stratos.

Chifuyu, ever the epitome of calm and preparedness in the face of adversity, immediately recognized the gravity of the situation. With a decisive tone, she ordered,

"Announce a Level D alert." Her crisp and authoritative command cut through the chaos as Maya swiftly executed the directive.

Once filled with the electric anticipation of competition, the arena simmered with a palpable dread.

The black goo and electricity that enveloped Laura seemed to consume her, morphing into a form that struck a chord of familiarity yet remained hauntingly indistinct.

Ichika, watching the horror unfold, felt a chill of madness creep into his thoughts. Was this the true terror of the Infinite Stratos, a technology capable of such unfathomable transformation?

The announcement echoed over the microphone, its message clear and ominous: "An emergency has arisen. All matches are canceled. Level D situation."

The gravity of the declaration hung heavily in the air, casting a shadow over the event and its participants.

Ichika, his heart heavy with concern, couldn't shake off the feeling of pity for Laura, caught in the eye of the storm, a victim of circumstances beyond her control. In this crisis, his thoughts turned to Matsu, hoping against hope that she was already mobilizing to address the nightmare unfolding.

The hope that she could somehow mitigate the disaster provided a faint glimmer of light in the darkness that had descended upon the arena.

In the heart of Shinto Teito, a palpable sense of shock and horror enveloped the spectators as they witnessed an unprecedented event unfold within the Infinite Stratos arena. Musubi, ever protective, shielded Kusano's eyes while the flower girl instinctively closed her ears against the chaos.

Uzume mirrored these actions with Chiho, safeguarding her from the harrowing scene. Kagari stood agape, her mouth a testament to the shock that had seized her. Kazehana was astounded by the spectacle before her, a rarity for someone as experienced as herself.

The Asama couple shared in the collective horror, a clear indication that the events transcending were far beyond the pale of normalcy, even by their seasoned standards.

Amidst the unfolding disaster, Matsu harbored the certainty that the situation would escalate, though the exact outcome remained uncertain.

As with the last dire attack, the arena was swiftly sealed off from the spectators, with urgent evacuation orders disseminated to all present.

Amidst the turmoil, Ichika thought he saw the image of his sister intertwined with the chaos. Maya, steadfast at the controls, managed to maintain her composure amidst the crisis.

Ichika's emotions were a tumult of anger and disbelief, primarily upon the IS taking on the image of his sister. Despite his initial reaction, he realized the futility of confrontation, his rational mind urging him to remain calm and assess the situation.

As the aberrant Infinite Stratos continued its rampage, Charlotte prudently retreated, recognizing the futility of engaging directly with Laura in her current state.

Ichika, too, maintained a safe distance, his desire to intervene overshadowed by the knowledge of his comparative weakness.

However, as the menacing advance of the IS was unexpectedly arrested, a visible shift occurred.

The encroaching mold that had seemed to consume everything in its path began to recede, crumbling away as if defeated by an unseen force. Ichika, his gaze fixed on the scene, realized that Matsu must have intervened. The relief that washed over him was palpable, a mix of gratitude and renewed hope.

He owed Matsu a big thank you.

During the chaos, Matsu's frustrations bubbled to the surface, her thoughts a tumultuous mix of disbelief and disdain towards the oversight by the ISA's administrators.

"Big, stupid idiots," she muttered under her breath, her sentiment a mild expression of her true feelings regarding the flawed Valkyrie system.

As Ichika faced a camera on the battlefield, his nod was deliberate, a silent message intended for Matsu.

She caught the gesture, a spark of understanding igniting between them. The task at hand would be impossible for any ordinary human, but Matsu was no ordinary human and certainly not a Sekirei for nothing.

She dove deeper into her hacking with unparalleled intellect, determined to root out the virus that had thrown the arena into disarray.

Meanwhile, the arena was tense, the teachers forming a protective circle around the epicenter of the disturbance. In that moment of stillness, Laura ceased her movements, the battle coming to an abrupt halt.

From the heart of Shinto Teito, Matsu found and eradicated the malicious program, her actions as precise as they were practical.

Laura, released from the digital grip, collapsed to the ground, signaling the end of the conflict. Relief washed over Ichika as he acknowledged the crisis was finally resolved, leaving the aftermath in the teachers' capable hands.

"Looks like we're done," Ichika announced, the relief evident in his voice as he deactivated his IS. He exchanged a knowing look with Charlotte, who nodded in agreement and then turned his attention to Houki.

"I am just wondering what stopped her," Houki voiced her curiosity, her gaze fixed on the scene before them.

"I have a guardian angel. Or better said, a cyber guardian angel," Ichika replied, a hint of pride in his tone. He was referring to Matsu, whose intervention from the digital shadows had averted disaster. As he stepped back from the immediate danger, gratitude and relief swept him. The ordeal was over, thanks to Matsu's timely actions, and he was profoundly thankful for that.

Line break. Later in the infirmary

Laura slowly regained consciousness, finding herself in the unexpected company of Chifuyu at her bedside. The room was quiet, starkly contrasting the chaos she vaguely remembered.

"Good to see you're awake," Chifuyu greeted, her voice a mix of sternness and relief.

"What happened?" Laura inquired, her voice weak as she tried to sit up, the memories of the ordeal still a blur.

"Just for the record, this has been classified. Do you know of that VT system? It caused you to lose control," Chifuyu explained, her tone solemn, indicating the gravity of the situation.

"Valkyrie Trace System? Heard of it, yes," Laura admitted, recalling the bits and pieces she knew about the controversial technology.

"With the IS pact, everything about that System has been forbidden. But for some reason, yours was outfitted with it," Chifuyu continued, her revelation bringing a sense of unease.

"How was it shut down? I can't remember," Laura confessed, the gaps in her memory painting a fragmented picture of the event.

"You gotta thank my brother for that," Chifuyu said, acknowledging Ichika's role in the resolution. The list of those privy to the shutdown's details was short, a necessary precaution to maintain secrecy.

"How?" Laura's astonishment was barely concealed, her curiosity piqued at the thought of Ichika being instrumental in her rescue.

"My brother, more than me, is an old friend of Minato Sahashi. The Ashikabi of the North in Shinto Teito, formerly known as Tokyo. Sahashi is also an old acquaintance, but he is closer to Orimura," Chifuyu revealed, bridging the connection between the Orimura siblings and Minato Sahashi and, by extension, the Sekirei Plan.

"Before Orimura got to this school, Minato had promised to look after Orimura. Since he started, Orimura got Sahashi, who watched over his back. When this fight happened, like the others, one of Sahashi's Sekirei, Matsu, hacked into your IS and destroyed it. There is no telling what would have happened if she didn't," Chifuyu elaborated, highlighting the depth of Ichika's support network.

Laura's gaze drifted to the window, contemplating the revelation and the debt she now owed to Ichika and, indirectly, to Minato and Matsu.

"Matsu indeed stopped it, but without Orimura, you'd be dead. It was also less painful. You are in debt to my brother. So, stop hunting him. Also, who are you?" Chifuyu's inquiry pointed to a challenge to Laura's identity and motives.

"I am..."

"If you're no one in particular, then perfect. You are Laura Bodewig," Chifuyu asserted, standing up, her presence dominating the room.

"You can't be me. That is not how it works. If you wondered why I am strong, I did that for Orimura. He's the reason I accomplished everything. I am not strong because I hate what is in front of me but because I love what is behind me. So, Bodewig. From today, I give you this. Leave. Ichika. Alone. If you hurt him, even now. It'll be who you will face."

Left alone with her thoughts, Laura pondered Chifuyu's words, the weight of her debt to Ichika, and the newfound perspective on strength and purpose imparted to her.

Line break. In the cafeteria

Ichika and Charlotte found themselves in a quiet moment of respite, sharing a meal after the tumultuous events that had unfolded.

The tournament's abrupt conclusion and the promise of scrutinizing the data for each competitor hung in the air, a reminder of the chaos they had just survived.

"The tournament is called off, and the data will be looked after for each individual," Ichika remarked, noticing the despair in the eyes of some girls around them. He quickly decided that delving into their troubles was beyond his current capacity.

"That, Charles, is not our problem. Someone else can handle it. I'm just relieved we got out of that mess alive," he confessed, his tone carrying a mix of relief and exhaustion.

Charlotte, absorbing the gravity of their recent brush with death, nodded in agreement. "So, you made your thanks to Matsu?" she inquired, curious whether Ichika had managed to express his gratitude.

"No. She wasn't on the phone. I'll try again later. But we were fortunate to have her around," Ichika sighed, his acknowledgment of Matsu's crucial role mingling with the frustration of not being able to thank her directly.

"You can say that. So what now?" Charlotte's question hung between them, her gaze drifting upwards as she savored the peace and the meal before them.

"I have no clue, Charles. And frankly, I don't care right now. I'm just glad it's over. What about you?" Ichika's question prompted Charlotte to ponder her next steps.

"I'll think it over. And when I've got an answer, you'll be the first to know," she responded, her nonchalant shrug hiding the depth of her contemplation.

"That doesn't put me at ease. Either way, Charles, I could use a timeout," Ichika admitted, his smile tinged with worry.

"Then I have good news," their assistant homeroom teacher said, seizing the moment to offer them a slice of normalcy. "The men's bathhouse is open today, and you two have permission to use it. Let everything from today wash away."

Ichika's initial hesitation gave way to acceptance. After everything he had endured, the prospect of a hot bath was too good to pass up. "Damn, this feels great," he sighed contentedly as he leaned back in the hot water, allowing the warmth to soothe his aching muscles.

In the serenity of the bathhouse, the day's events began to fade into the background, offering Ichika a much-needed pause and a moment of blissful reprieve.

"Sorry for the wait." Okay, that wasn't good news. He turned to see Charlotte fidgeting with a towel, and Ichika began to wonder how it was possible that she could hide those tits in her uniform. It must have been very uncomfortable.

"Don't look so much, you perv." He raised an eyebrow as he turned away.

"Charles, you're one to talk. Did you think that coming in with just wearing a towel wouldn't get my attention?" Ichika's words broke the silence, his tone a mix of amusement and mild rebuke.

She joined him in the bath, instinctively prompting him to cover his eyes. "Why?" he asked, his curiosity piqued by her boldness.

"You don't want to bathe with me?" Charlotte teased, her smile playful as Ichika dared to peek with one eye.

"If you're going to bathe with me, I'll look at you. You want to know why?" he responded, his tone shifting to one of sincerity.

Charlotte tilted her head, the water embracing her, providing a sense of liberation and comfort.

"Because Charles, you have one great body. And you're the first girl in this school that has not been trying to kill me ever since I got here. But because I think I'm in the way, I'll go," Ichika confessed, his words carrying a weight of appreciation and a hint of resignation.

Charlotte responded immediately, taking his wrist on reflex, prompting him to turn towards her. "Can you please stay? I have something to tell you. And I feel this is the only place without eyes on us," she implored, her request anchoring him back to the moment.

So, Ichika sat back down, turning his back to her, allowing Charlotte to speak freely in the privacy they found in the bath.

"You're going to stay?" he asked, the uncertainty of her intentions hanging between them.

"You want me to?" Charlotte's question was soft, her presence behind him comforting in its closeness.

"Yes. I would like that very much," Ichika admitted, his honesty evident in his voice.

"I am going to stay. And you are the great reason why. You're here. And I want to be here as well," Charlotte declared, her decision rooted in their shared connection.

As they sat together, Charlotte's hand reached for Ichika's under the water, a gentle touch that spoke volumes. Ichika tensed slightly; the contact was unexpected yet not unwelcome, a silent acknowledgment of the bond that was forming between them in the most unguarded of spaces.

As Ichika accepted Charlotte's fingers into his palm, a tangible warmth spread between them, a silent acknowledgment of their growing closeness. "Glad to know. You've been a real help for me, Charles,"

He expressed his gratitude as genuine. The sensation of Charlotte turning to press against his back was unexpectedly comforting, a testament to their unique bond. Ichika was acutely aware of the delicate balance of their interaction, thankful for his exhaustion that helped mask his natural response.

"I also intend to go as a girl," Charlotte's admission was met with a sigh from Ichika. "I'm happy that you let me know in time. I can have some ways to prevent myself from getting killed. Not that it won't be a disaster, but we can be prepared for that."

His words conveyed relief and readiness to face whatever challenges her decision might bring.

A profound sense of intimacy enveloped them, with her hands resting gently on his shoulders and her face against his neck. Ichika found himself contemplating the depth of their relationship, wondering if this was the beginning of love.

"Ichika. When we're alone, can you call me Charlotte? I know that you know my name. But it is the one that my mother gave me. When we're alone, can you call me that?" Charlotte's request was heartfelt, seeking a personal connection that transcended their usual interactions.

Ichika nodded, understanding the significance of her request. "Very well, Charlotte." His agreement marked a pivotal moment in their relationship, a mutual recognition of their special bond.

Ichika later learned of Matsu's condition after the intense ordeal of hacking.

The revelation came as a surprise, yet it made sense considering the immense strain she must have undergone during her efforts to resolve the crisis. Matsu, the cyber maiden of their group, had been tirelessly working behind the scenes, her focus unwavering until the match concluded, and her strength faltered.

The group, understanding the toll the hacking had taken on her, ensured she comfortably rested in bed, where she spent almost all Sunday recuperating from her exhaustive endeavors.

It was a silent testament to her dedication and the physical cost of her invaluable assistance.

Kazehana, sensing the importance of communicating Matsu's condition and acknowledging Ichika's pending gratitude, took it upon herself to send a message to him.

She informed him that Matsu would be ready to receive his thanks once she had sufficiently recovered.

It also highlighted their deep respect and appreciation for Matsu's contributions, acknowledging her efforts and her sacrifice in silence to ensure their safety and success.

Line break: At the beach

Minato had spent a different day than Ichika had. It had taken a while before he woke up, and he spent his day with Tsukiumi again.

He wasn't the only guy with his energy drained. Despite being up and at it, he saw on breakfast that there were quite a few people who had tons of sex at this place.

It wasn't just because they had sex but because a lot of girls limped, and some of the guys were not there in the head.

During the morning, Minato and Tsukiumi shared breakfast with Oosumi, Kaho, Shigi, and Kuno in a moment of silent camaraderie born from shared exhaustion.

Despite the lack of conversation, the need for sustenance was universal, especially after a night filled with activities that drained their energies significantly.

The atmosphere wasn't awkward due to the intimate encounters they shared; somewhat, the collective fatigue subdued their usual vibrancy.

Minato, ever the observer, found amusement in the post-coitus behaviors of the Sekirei around him. His own experiences had given him some insight, but witnessing the dynamics of the other couples added a layer of humor to his observations.

Kaho intrigued him, resting her head on Oosumi's shoulder while somehow managing to eat. Oosumi, for his part, displayed his affection through soft kisses and shared meals with Kaho, a simple yet profound demonstration of their bond.

Tsukiumi, dignified as ever, concentrated on her meal with the grace of a lady, her etiquette refined by Miya's wife training. Sitting beside her, Minato was greeted with gentle, affectionate touches, a silent exchange of love and comfort between them.

Meanwhile, Kuno quietly tended to Shigi, who was practically absent in spirit after their exhaustive night.

His energy drained to the last; Shigi could barely keep his head up at the table. Kuno, showing a surprising appetite, managed to eat well, occasionally sharing her food with Shigi, ensuring he was nourished despite his depleted state.

A palpable calm enveloped the group as the day unfolded on the beach—no boisterous games, splashing in the water, or even the usual beach day activities.

The beach, often a place of lively energy and noise, was tranquil, with only the sound of the waves crashing and the gentle breeze accompanying them. Even the seagulls seemed to respect the serene atmosphere, their cries less frequent than usual.

This quiet day was not a disappointment but a welcome respite for Minato and his companions.

It offered a rare opportunity to be, to enjoy the peace of the beach without the need for constant activity or conversation. In the simplicity of the day, there was a surprising contentment, a reminder that sometimes, the quiet moments are just as precious as the loud, lively ones.

Tsukiumi provided Minato with a comfortable lap pillow, an act of intimacy and care she had observed Kazehana often indulging in with Minato.

The sensation of his hair against her soft thighs offered a new understanding of the comfort and affection such a gesture could convey.

As she gently played with his hair, Tsukiumi marveled at Minato's deep slumber, a rarity given his usual difficulty falling asleep without complete exhaustion.

For hours, Minato remained undisturbed, deeply asleep on Tsukiumi's lap, a testament to the tranquility of their current setting and his trust in her presence.

Eventually, seeking a slight change in position without disturbing his rest, Tsukiumi carefully adjusted their arrangement. She managed to do so with such finesse that Minato continued to sleep peacefully, now cradled more closely to her.

Observing the other couples, Tsukiumi noted the similar states of relaxation and contentment. Kaho and her Ashikabi shared a quiet moment identical to theirs, while Kuno and Shigi also embraced the peace of the beach setting, each couple finding their way to enjoy the closeness.

As the afternoon heat intensified, it became uncomfortable to remain in their positions. Minato was the first to awaken, greeted by Tsukiumi's caring gaze. "Hello, Tsukiumi. Thank you for this," he expressed, appreciative of the comfort she had provided.

"Please, thou don't have to thank me, Minato. After all, this is a wife's duty. I hope thee slept well," Tsukiumi replied, her smile reflecting their deep bond. Despite wearing yesterday's clothes and dealing with the growing heat, their focus was solely on each other and the moment they shared.

As Tsukiumi requested some space due to the heat, Minato complied, and they settled into a comfortable silence, simply enjoying the beauty of the sea and the tranquility of the beach.

This moment of peace, away from the chaos of their daily lives, was a cherished respite for Minato, who recognized the wisdom in Tsukiumi's insistence on this beach getaway.

The trip provided a break from his concerns about Ichika and allowed him to reconnect with Tsukiumi meaningfully.

Sitting beside her, Minato understood the actual value of this escape— a chance to strengthen their bond, enjoy each other's company, and appreciate the simplicity and beauty of their surroundings, a reminder of why Tsukiumi had been so keen on the idea.

Tsukiumi's desire to shower Minato with love often led to relentless teasing from the other members of his flock, causing her considerable embarrassment.

This desire for a moment of pure, unadulterated connection with Minato, free from the jests of others, spurred her wish for this trip.

Sitting beside him on the beach, their hands entwined, she found the peaceful moment she had been longing for, a simple yet profound expression of their bond.

"Minato," Tsukiumi eventually broke the silence, signaling a question that lingered in her heart.

"What is it, Tsukiumi?" Minato responded, turning to face her, only to be met with a passionate kiss. It was far from a chaste peck; it was a declaration, a moment of vulnerability and longing expressed through their connection.

The intensity of their kiss, a private make-out session on the beach, left them both breathless and flushed with emotion.

"You have a question?" Minato asked afterward, his face adorned with a healthy blush.

"My husband, I think thee heard the question of the others. Doth I needeth to asketh?" Tsukiumi ventured, seeking clarity on a topic that weighed heavily on her.

"How long will I keep this up with Ichika, right?" Minato guessed correctly, understanding the essence of her concern. Tsukiumi's nod confirmed his suspicion. Her inquiry wasn't born out of aggression but a genuine desire for insight into their future, particularly regarding his protective stance over Ichika Orimura.

"I know thee has a history with Ichika Orimura, prey tell. I know that thee looketh out for him. But how long wilt thee keepeth doing that? Eventually, he needs to look out after himself,"

Tsukiumi expressed her thoughts calmly, her wish for independence and perhaps a home of their own underlying her words.

Minato sighed, acknowledging the validity of her point. The mood between them remained undisturbed by the seriousness of the conversation. Instead, it was a moment of understanding, seeking, and providing answers.

"I have no clue. But Tsukiumi, let me tell you this. You were taking me away to this beach. I am grateful. Thanks to this, I could clear my head and not worry about Ichika for a while. This proved that I couldn't keep looking out for him. I needed a break,"

Minato confessed his gratitude for the escape Tsukiumi provided him clearly in his voice. The trip offered them a chance to strengthen their bond. It allowed Minato to reflect on his responsibilities and the need to balance his care for Ichika with their relationship and future.

Despite the complexities it brought into his life, Minato's acknowledgment of his ongoing responsibility towards Ichika underscored a deep sense of duty and affection he felt for his friend. It was a delicate balance he knew he had to maintain, at least for the time being, until a more permanent solution could be found.

As Minato and Tsukiumi shared this moment of reflection and connection, Kuno and Shigi, along with Kaho and Oosumi, observed from a distance, recognizing the unique challenges and dynamics within their relationships.

There was a silent agreement among them, a mutual understanding that while they each faced their issues, they would remain supportive yet unintrusive, stepping in only when called upon.

The tranquility of the beach offered a much-needed respite for the Ashikabi and their Sekirei, allowing them to escape the constant buzz of the city and the demands of their roles within the Sekirei Plan.

The quiet observation of the sea and the intimate moments shared provided a rare opportunity to recharge and reconnect, not just as Ashikabi and Sekirei but as individuals seeking peace.

For Minato, the temporary disconnection from the outside world was a blessing.

The usual influx of information, the constant updates, and the weight of expectations were momentarily lifted, granting him the freedom to be present, enjoying the serene environment and the company of Tsukiumi.

He mused about the stories and developments awaiting him upon his return, yet he cherished the current detachment, finding solace in the simplicity of their beach getaway.

At this moment, surrounded by the soothing sounds of the waves and the whispers of the wind, Minato recognized the value of stepping away, of going offline to appreciate the moments of peace and intimacy. It was a reminder of the importance of balance, of prioritizing not just the duties and responsibilities that defined them but also the relationships and connections that sustained them.

I know it's a bit smaller, but it was for the best. I hope you all liked it.

I think that I have more fun later on.

Saluut.
