Poketches
The next day at the Pokemon School, Lincoln shows all the other students there his Hisuian Zorua; his teacher decides to use this as an opportunity to teach the class about the history of Sinnoh back when it was called Hisui.
For the next several days, Lincoln would train his Pokemon after school while putting more focus on Zorua; after a while, she learned Swift while his other Pokemon got a bit stronger.
Sam trained up her Pokemon as well; her Pokemon also got stronger, and while she was training her Kricketot, he froze up and started to glow.
"Whoa, what's going on with Kricketot?" asked Sam, getting Lincoln's attention.
"I think he's evolving!" said Lincoln. The two watch as Kricketot started to change right before their eyes; when he was done, he was taller, he had gray, oval-shaped, eyes; he had whiskers that looked like the antenna he had as a Kricketot, black wings on his back, and he had arms with what looked like blades at the end of them, along with similar-looking antenna on his head.
"This is so rad!" said Sam. Lincoln takes out their pokedex and points it at the newly evolved Pokemon.
"Kricketune, the Cricket Pokemon, and the evolved form of Kricketot. It signals its emotions with its melodies. Scientists are studying these melodic patterns." said the pokedex.
"This also says that Kricketune learned Fury Cutter, and he has the Swarm ability which amps up the power of his bug moves when he's tired." said Sam.
"That is awesome!" said Lincoln.
"So, when are you gonna start trying to qualify for the Sinnoh League?" asked Sam.
"I'll start Saturday morning." said Lincoln. "I want to buy some supplies for my journey first."
"Want to head for Jubilife City to do that?" asked Sam.
"Might as well as long as we're close to it." said Lincoln.
"Let's go then." said Sam. The two then started walking towards the city.
"Lincoln! Sam!" Dawn's voice calls out to them. They turn to see her running over to where they are.
"Hey, Dawn!" said Sam. When Dawn reached them, she looks at Lincoln, and shyly looks away with a blush, prompting Lincoln to do the same thing, while Sam just chuckles. Ever since Zorua transformed into Dawn and kissed Lincoln, the two have been feeling a bit shy around each other, they still hung out, but what Zorua did made them feel awkward when they did.
"So..uh...what are you up to?" asked Dawn.
"We were just going into Jubilife to get supplies for our journey tomorrow." said Sam.
"Can I come with?" asked Dawn. "I want to see the TV station; plus, the new Poketches are out right now, and I want to grab one."
"What's a Poketch?" asked Lincoln.
"It's a new device that has all sorts of features, such as a map, a pedometer, a calculator, and a function that lets you see the status of the Pokemon you have on you." said Dawn. "There are other functions for it, but they're not available right now."
"A couple of those things sound like they would come in handy on our journey." said Lincoln. "Let's see if we can get our hands on a couple for ourselves."
"And Lincoln can get registered for the Sinnoh League while we're there." said Sam.
"Off to Jubilife, then!" said Dawn.
"Sure, you and Lincoln can hold hands on the way there." said Sam in a teasing tone of voice while smirking at the two as they blushed.
"SAM!" said Lincoln and Dawn. The three headed to Jubilife, with Lincoln and Dawn trying to avoid eye contact with each other.
They soon arrived and head into the city to look for a store that sold Poketches. As they walk by the Pokemon Center, they are approached by a man with brown hair and a mustache, purple shirt, tan slacks, and black shoes.
"Hello, you three." said the man.
"Um, hi." said Lincoln.
"Did you need something, sir?" asked Sam.
"I'm the person who invented and manufacture the Poketch I'm pretty sure you've all heard about." said the man.
"Really?" replied Dawn.
"Yes." said the man. "In fact, I'm doing a promotional campaign where you can win a free Poketch."
"A free Poketch?!" replied Dawn.
"What's the catch?" asked Sam.
"All you have to do is find the three clowns around Jubilife and answer all their questions correctly." said the man. "When you do so, each clown will give you a coupon; bring me all three of them to get your Poketch."
"That sounds easy." said Lincoln.
"I'll be right here waiting for you." said the man. Lincoln, Sam, and Dawn all start looking around Jublife for the clowns and quickly found the first one.
"I'm a Poketch campaign clown!" said the clown. "Are you here for the promotion to get a free Poketch?"
"You bet!" said Lincoln.
"Very well; let's "rollout" my question." said the clown. "Do Pokemon grow by defeating other ones and gaining experience?"
"Sure." said Lincoln.
"That's right!" said the clown. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a coupon that he hands to Lincoln.
"Let's look for the next one." said Sam. They all look for the next one and find him in front of the doors to the TV station.
"I'm a Poketch campaign clown!" said the clown. "Are you here for the promotion to get a free Poketch?"
"Yes, sir." said Sam.
"Very well; let's "rollout" my question." said the clown. "Can Pokemon hold items?"
"I think so." said Lincoln as he thought back to his lessons at the Pokemon School.
"That's right!" said the clown. He hands Lincoln another coupon.
"Just one more to go!" said Dawn.
"Let's hurry!" said Lincoln. They head down the street and quickly find the last clown in front of a building.
"I'm a Poketch campaign clown!" said the clown. "Are you here for the promotion to get a free Poketch?"
"You bet!" said Lincoln.
"Very well; let's "rollout" my question." said the clown. "Just like Pokemon, do moves of Pokemon also have types?"
"Yes." said Lincoln.
"Correct!" said the clown. He hands Lincoln the third and final coupon. "Just so you know, the building behind me is where the Poketches are manufactured and sold."
"Would new apps for the Poketch be found here?" asked Dawn.
"Yes, they would." said the clown.
"We should come by from time to time to see if new apps are available." said Dawn.
"Sure, we can do that." said Lincoln.
"We should get the free Poketch first before we do that." said Sam.
"Good call." said Lincoln. The three head back to the south entrance to Jubilife and head over to the man who told them about the promotion.
"How did you kids do?" asked the man. Lincoln smiles as he holds out all three Poketch coupons. "Congratulations, young man; and because you got those so quickly, I'll give three of you a Poketch."
"Wow, thanks!" said Dawn. The man hands Lincoln a blue Poketch, and Sam and Dawn each a red Poketch.
"Thank you, sir." said Lincoln. The man nods and walks off into town. Lincoln looks at the Poketch that was like a wristwatch and puts it on his wrist, prompting Sam and Dawn to do the same.
"These are so cool!" said Sam as she tries out her Poketch by pushing the buttons on it, seeing all the apps it currently had.
"These will definitely come in handy on our journey." said Lincoln.
"Weren't we going to buy stuff for that?" asked Sam.
"Oh, I forgot about that." said Lincoln. "And I still need to get registered for the Sinnoh League. The three first head to the PokeMart and purchase items they would need; mainly pokeballs, potions, and status condtion-treating items; they also go to the grocery store to buy food as well.
Once they were done shopping, they head for the Pokemon Center to get Lincoln registered for the Sinnoh League.
"Hello, young man." said the nurse.
"Hi." replied Lincoln. "I'm here to register for the Sinnoh League."
"Very well." said the nurse. "I'll need you to fill out the required information." She then hands Lincoln a tablet with a questionaire on it and he fills it out. He then hands it back to the nurse who looks it over. "Everything appears to be in order; just let me put this in the computer and you'll be all set."
"Thank you." said Lincoln. After the nurse does what she said she was going to do, she hands a small metal case to Lincoln.
"What's that?" asked Sam.
"To qualify for the Sinnoh League, you'll need to earn badges from every gym in the Sinnoh region." said the nuse. "That thing I gave your brother is a case to keep them in."
"Thanks." said Lincoln. Once that was done the three head back to Sandgem Town.
Later that night, while Lincoln, Sam, and their Pokemon were eating, Lincoln and Sam were looking over a guidebook for the locations of the gyms in Sinnoh.
"This says the nearest gym is in a place called Oreburgh City." said Sam.
"So, that's my first stop." said Lincoln before he brings up the map on his Poketch. "This says we'll need to head east of Jubilife, go down Route 203, and head through an area called Oreburgh Gate to get there."
"Are you ready for this, bro?" asked Sam.
"I won't know until I try." said Lincoln. After everyone finished eating, they clean their dishes, shower, brush their teeth, and hop into their beds. As Lincoln and his Pokemon were lying down, he was in deep thought.
'I can't believe how much life has changed for me and Sam.' Lincoln thought to himself. 'I hope we can handle this journey. What other Pokemon will we see on it? I guess we won't know until we start.' Soon, Lincoln and his Pokemon fell asleep.
Lincoln and Sam's true journey starts tomorrow. What adventures will they have as they travel the Sinnoh region? Will Lincoln qualify for the Sinnoh League? Wait and find out.
