Monkeying Around
Later back in Jubiife Village at the Wallflower; the Loud siblings, Akari, Rei, and Professor Laventon were celebrating their successful mission while the Louds' Pokemon ate and interacted with each other.
"This is a great day for us." said Professor Laventon. "We have a new base camp for us to work from that's further out from the village."
"Professor Laventon?" Lola said. "Is there an attack that shoots stars at other Pokemon?"
"Yes, it's called Swift." said Professor Laventon. "A very handy move that one; it never misses."
"Wow!" said Lana. "And we also saw an orange monkey Pokemon that had fire on its butt."
"That must've been a Chimchar." said Professor Laventon. "Those are hard to find around here."
"I hope I find it again someday and catch it." said Lana.
"And we also noticed that some moves work well on some kinds of Pokemon, but not on others." said Lincoln.
"I think it would be wise to teach you all about type advantages." said Professor Laventon. He then goes on to teach the Loud siblings about how certain types of Pokemon and moves have advantages and disadvantages against certain types.
"That's a lot to take in." said Lori.
"You'll get the hang of it with experience." said Rei.
As Professor Laventon looks through the Loud siblings' research notes, he notices something unusual.
"How did you get data on Croagunk and Snover?" asked Professor Laventon. "Those Pokemon aren't found in the Obsidian Fieldlands."
"The ones we saw belong to three bandits who call themselves the Miss Fortunes." said Lynn Jr, getting looks of shock from Professor Laventon, Akari, and Rei.
"What are they doing here?!" asked Rei.
"You know them?" asked Lisa.
"They used to be with the Galaxy Team before they went rogue." said Professor Laventon. "They've been going around stealing valuable objects and other Pokemon for themselves."
"Why did they go after you?" asked Akari.
"They found out about our pokedex and want it for themselves." said Lisa.
"I suppose something like our pokedex would be valuable to anyone interested in Pokemon." said Professor Laventon.
"Did they hurt you?" asked Rei.
"No, we were able to defeat them in Pokemon battles and drive them off." said Lisa.
"That's good to hear." said Professor Laventon.
"Charm, Clover, and Coin; I never thought they'd come around here." said Rei.
"They might return to try stealing the pokedex." said Lisa.
"We won't let that happen." said Lori.
"But Clover seems more interested in Lincoln than the pokedex." said Luan with a smirk.
"Why?" asked Professor Laventon.
"She seems to have feelings for our sole brother." said Lisa before she and the rest of the Loud sisters giggle, making Lincoln blush, and Akari frown for some reason.
"Still, you should all be careful around them." said Professor Laventon.
"We will." said the Loud siblings.
After everyone finished eating, the Louds started heading back to the houses they were all sharing; but Lana was heading towards the village gate.
"Lana, where are you going?" asked Lola.
"I'm heading back to Deertrack Heights." said Lana.
"Why?" asked Leni.
"I wanna try to find and catch that Chimchar." said Lana.
"How come?" asked Luan.
"I liked it." said Lana. "And I'll bring Oshawott with me; since she's a water type, she might have the advantage against Chimchar if its a fire type."
"Well, since it had fire coming out of its butt, then it might be." said Luna.
"I'm gonna try looking for it at night." said Lana. "The fire on its butt might be easier to see then."
"Well, at least one of us should go with you." said Lori.
"I'll go." said Lucy. "I wanna try finding more wisps in the area."
"I'll come with in case those Miss Fortune chumps show up." said Lynn. "And I want to train up my Dartrix some more."
"Okay." said Lana.
"We'll meet you all at the Heights Camp in the morning." said Lori.
With that, Lynn, Lucy, and Lana all exit the village and make their way to the Heights Camp.
Ten minutes later, the three Loud sisters arrive at their new base camp and wait for it to get dark.
"I hope I find that Chimchar." said Lana.
"You will." said Lynn.
About an hour later, the three get ready to begin their searches; before they leave, Lucy spots another wisp in the camp area.
"Wicked." said Lucy as she walks over to it and uses her Odd Keystone to collect it.
"Good job, Lucy." said Lynn.
Lana then heads to where she last saw the Chimchar from earlier and starts looking around with Lynn following after her.
"Do you think Chimchar's still around here?" asked Lynn.
"Keep your eyes open for fire." said Lana.
While Lana and Lynn were looking for Chimchar, Lucy was busy collecting wisps; she found five more so far.
"Where could those other ones be?" asked Lucy. As she looks around, she hears the sound of flapping wings. She looks around for the source and comes across a blue, batlike Pokemon; looking at it brings a familiar feeling to Lucy. She looks at her copies to find out what it was and soon learns it was called a Zubat.
"I feel like I want to catch this Zubat." said Lucy as she takes out her Drifloon's pokeball and releases her from it, getting the Zubat's attention. Remembering what Professor Laventon said about type advantages, she knew what move would work best against it.
"Drifloon, use Confusion." said Lucy. Drifloon releases waves of psychic energy from its body, hitting the Zubat, and dealing super effective damage to it. The Zubat responds by flapping its wings, releasing a blast of wind that hits Drifloon, knocking her back a little. "Drifloon, use Hypnosis." Drifloon releases soothing waves of energy from her body which makes the Zubat a little drowsy. Lucy quickly takes out an empty pokeball and tosses it at Zubat, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before a firework shoots out from it.
"Wicked." said Lucy. She then lets the Zubat out of the pokeball and uses a couple Oran berries to heal it.
Meanwhile, back with Lynn and Lana, they were searching around the area where Lana saw the Chimchar.
"Are you sure it's around here somewhere?" asked Lynn.
"Yes, I recognize the rock that Lily caught that Geodude earlier." said Lana. As they look around, they see an orange light up in a tree; upon closer inspection, she sees the light was the flame of Chimchar.
"Is that it?" Lynn whispered.
"Yeah, that's it." Lana whispered back.
"How are we supposed to get up there to catch it?" asked Lynn.
"Maybe we can lure it down with something?" suggested Lana. She reaches into her satchel and finds some Oran berries.
"You think it'll like them?" asked Lynn.
"Won't know until we try." said Lana. "Plus, one of our research tasks for Chimchar is giving it food."
"Well, let's give it a shot then." said Lynn. She and Lana hide behind the big rock, and they toss the berries near the tree; after about a minute, the Chimchar sniffs the air and looks down to see them then climbs down. While Chimchar was eating, Lana slowly and quietly makes her way behind it and takes out Dewott's pokeball and releases her from it.
"Dewott, use Tackle!" said Lana. Dewott quickly moves at the Chimchar and rams into it; it quickly starts to run off.
"Chimchar's getting away!" said Lynn.
"I got it!" said Lana as she runs after Chimchar the way that the Pokemon was, with Dewott right behind her; wherever the Chimchar went, Lana was right behind it, partly because the fire on its rear made it easy to find. After a few minutes of running, they all started to get tired and stop.
"Aren't you gonna capture it?" asked Lynn Jr. Lana looks at the Chimchar who looked a little nervous.
"I'm sorry if I scared you, Chimchar." said Lana, making the Pokemon look at her with confusion. She then takes a few more berries from her satchel and slowly puts them on the ground in front of it. The Chimchar looks at the berries, then at Lana before eating. Lana and Dewott slowly approach the Pokemon and sit down next to it, with Lana scratching Chimchar behind its ears, making it look content.
"I really like you, Chimchar." said Lana, making the Pokemon look at her with a smile and says something to her.
"I'm thinking it's saying it likes you, too." said Lynn.
"Would you like to join up with me, please?" asked Lana. Chimchar thinks for a little bit before nodding.
"Sweet!" said Lynn Jr. Lana smiles before taking an empty pokeball out of her satchel and gently presses it against Chimchar's head, making the pokeball suck the Pokemon in; the pokeball wiggles once before a firework shoots out of it.
"Yeah! I caught Chimchar!" said Lana.
"Good work, little sis!" said Lynn. Lana lets Chimchar out of the pokeball and hugs it.
"Welcome to the team, Chimchar." said Lana.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" asked Lynn. Lana takes out her research papers and compares the two pictures with her new Chimchar.
"It looks like a boy one." said Lana.
"What attacks do you think he knows?" asked Lynn.
"We'll find out tomorrow." said Lana. "Right now, I think I want to get to sleep."
"Good idea." said Lucy from behind the small group, startling everyone.
"Please don't do that!" said Lynn.
"You scared Chimchar." said Lana as Chimchar clung to her head.
"Sorry." said Lucy. "I don't know why I keep doing that."
"It's too dark to try making our way back to the village." said Lana.
"Good thing we have that new base camp nearby." said Lynn.
"Let's go." said Lana. She was about to return Chimchar to his pokeball, but then she decides to have him out with her so they could bond; they all then head to the Heights Camp, enter the small tent inside, and go right to sleep.
