Chapter 3: First Year Part 1
- October 31, 1991 -
It's been two months since Arthur has begun his first year. The classes were more interesting than Hosea let on. Flitwick had been teach them how to duel and the best charms to use. McGonagall had been teaching them battle transfiguration so they were learning real magic. He never thought he would enjoy a place that was so rich in education. Arthur had also spent some time with Professor Snape. Getting to know the man who had once been his mother's best friend. It was easy to like him when he didn't hide behind his mask.
Today though marked the end of the second month. Halloween was one holiday he wasn't very fond of. The teachers had to constantly get the students to pay attention. But Arthur had done the one thing that could get him in trouble if it were anyone else. He skipped his classes and hid out in the owlery. Writing his letter to Hosea and thinking about what happened that fateful night. Most children were happy to celebrate this holiday with sweets and other fun things. Arthur wasn't one of those kids and he never could be.
"This is where you are. We thought you had gone and hid in the Hufflepuff common room. Not a fan of the festivities?" Tonks asked as she sat on Arthur's left and Penelope sat on his right. Over the past two months the three had become rather close. They looked out for him and he become rather fond of them. "I wasn't feeling up to seeing other children happy on this day. To them its perfectly fine celebrating but for me its a reminder. A day that symbolizes the death of my parents." He told them as he put his half written letter in his satchel.
Penelope leaned back against the stone and looked up at the owls. "You know we do often forget that our peace came at a price. The end of a dark lords reign at the cost of one boy becoming an orphan. No one has ever done what you did but unlike others I believe your mother was the one who actually defeated Voldemort." Arthur was glad she could say his name because he seriously thought it was stupid to fear one man. The guys name meant flight from death so he was essentially a coward.
"Yeah I mean we are all thankful he's dead but there are some of us who ignored your pain. So if you want to hide away I'll hide with you." Tonks said as she ruffled his sand colored hair. "I'm pretty sure the whole school has picked up on the fact you are Harry Potter by now. Different name or not your still the lone survivor of a killing curse." And wasn't that the truth he had to wonder just what idiot thought to make him famous for something he didn't really do. "My mother was truly a brilliant woman and one day I hope to make her proud." Well he hoped she wouldn't be too upset over his chosen lifestyle.
Dinner rolled around and Arthur was seated next to Tonks. Susan and Hannah were across from him as they all chatted around him. His mind still not on the festivities of this certain holiday. It was on his parents and what he remembered from that night. He knew his mother did some ritual before hand. Because if he looked back at that memory she didn't have her wand at all on hand. Frowning he looked at his plate of food and softly apologized to Kuro. He just couldn't eat on a night like this.
Sensing where his mind was Tonks tapped her knee against his. "Hey it'll be okay. This is a house that is loyal to their fellow badgers. You aren't alone Arthur I can promise you that." She reassured him as she returned to the conversation the others were having. He sighed as he played with his food a bit more before finally eating a bit of it. He kind of wished he was back home so he and Hosea could do a robbery. His eyes drifted to the green and silver table then fell on the blonde haired boy. Draco Malfoy had been a pain in his ass since day one. He would see if Hosea was up for robbing the Malfoy family. Maybe Severus could join them since he seemed kind of close to the blonde ponce.
The great hall doors were thrown open causing his attention to drift towards whoever did it. Standing in the doorway was the man who taught DADA. Quirell was useless in a way that Uncle had been to an extent. Only Uncle had real brains and was still decent in a fire fight. The man looked disheveled and downright murderous. It amused him actually to see such a look on the fakers face. With all the attention on the fuming man Arthur summoned his prized pistol. Waiting for the perfect opportunity to shoot the man. He wasn't innocent like what all the sheeple of magical britain thought. He's killed a lot of folks in his previous life and he was soon to take bounties in this life. Outlaws did more than just robbing banks or homesteads. They killed too and picked up bounties for extra cash.
"Albus! Where is the stone!!" The children were clueless as to what was going on. But Arthur had easily figured out that the Headmaster was hiding something on the forbidden corridor. Spinning his pistol he raised it and shot Quirell in the head. Then resumed eating his food without a care in the world. He didn't care for the mad schemes of the old fossil and whoever he was trying to bait. Schemes tended to get people killed, he knew from experience. Dutch had ended up getting eight people killed. Mac, Davey, Jenny, Lenny, Sean, Susan, Molly and Hosea. Any others he wasn't so sure of since his own death had been the last one. So really that was nine people actually oh and Kieran so maybe ten people.
In the shocked silence it took everyone a few minutes to realize that the defense teacher was dead. And that a student had done the deed without a care. That it had been Arthur Morgan who did it was shocking even more. It took the staff a few minutes longer to realize what happened. And amidst it all in the great hall full of witnesses. Voldemorts wraith floated from Quirells corpse. Then the wraith disappeared into the ceiling of the great hall before all hell broke loose. Arthur simply finished his dinner and stood up. "Your welcome." He said as he stuck his hands in his pockets and walked out of the great hall. Completely ignoring the dead body with a hole in its head. Technically it was a magic bullet that killed the man since none of his guns had actual ammunition. Let them think what they will Arthur Morgan didn't walk a straight path.
It was time the wizarding world realized that their savor. Wasn't what they had previously thought he was. Arthur Morgan had his own path to walk and fates strings had long since been cut. Though he still had a prophecy to shoulder he would fulfill it his way. Let the magical world run around like headless chickens. He prefers to handle things his own way, the outlaw way. Blood for Blood, another war was on the horizon. That night not many students or staff members slept well. Many had nightmares of what Arthur had done.
Okay its a bit shorter than I originally planned. But for each year I am only highlighting the important parts. Next chapter will be Christmas Break which Arthur will be going home for. Severus joins Hosea and Arthur on a robbery.
I did a bit more thinking and I am leaning towards Arthur wooing Narcissa. Stealing her away from Lucius and giving her a real man who would appreciate her. Of course nothing sexual would happen until much much later. But that doesn't mean I can't plan a few intimate moments between them.
