sword dragon and the phoenix -chapter 3 – secrets and masters
This chapter will cover episodes 1-4 of FSN 2006. But I will get into more about the other masters. I will make changes to said master and a few changes the servants.
I will also get more into the factions and what each knows about the others.
As well as make other changes.
Shirou pov
I then said to Saber "let's make this easy, I can't answer every question, but I have been filled in a lot of information. I am still new to the devil stuff and haven't had many chances to get the questions to my own answers. So, you can ask me questions and I will tell you what I know." Saber in kind started with "which god is your parent?" I replied with "all I know is they are moon god or goddess. Based on the year I was born and due to the fact, it was a god, my conception happened around the Olympic games and from what I have been made aware any culture that has athletes brings their gods and even through process of elimination that leaves over twenty candidates." The blond servant then asked, "do you know which evil gods have representatives?" I replied "Apophis and Chronos, from what I understand both evil beings are on close to reviving fully, if either side gets the grail, it will be bad. Both are beast candidates." That gave Saber a grim look on her face as I said, "these two masters are the two I am prepared to kill."
The servant then asked, "does the church know about gods and devils?" I replied "I have heard the angels mostly don't side with one kind of church over the others. but the catholic faction either works with a few angels, monitors them, or hunts them. but thankfully the faction Kirei is part of only interactions with the magus faction."
After that Ravel called in Halsin and told me "Now the two of us have to go to school, I will have our elf friend keep Artoria busy and update your servant with much more that you ever could. Remember he has been alive and seen more than either that us have and more realms than we have. He can miss a day of school more freely." It was after that we did final prep and left for school.
At school nothing really happened and returned home to find Saber sleeping. She told, me Halsin updated her on almost everything, including the fact the gods move around to the biggest power bases if their root remain in place. She also told me it felt like both a part of her as well as some others from her former life had likely been reborn in this era. After that was dinner and Ravel told me more about how devils' function and how reincarnated devils were functionally like masters and servants.
She then told me "From what I can tell now, reviving during the holy grail war may have not been the best choice. Your human magical network and your devil magical networks will sync up in time but how much time is hard to say, and it may not be completely synced up before the war is over." Then Halsin said "you should be able to use both rune magic and druidic nature magic for some support." Saber then said, "if I have to go all out it may not be enough mana for me." It was after that Ravel promised Saber, she would help the best she could, and I left for school.
It was at school; I felt a strange feeling and then tried to talk to Rin only to be shut down. then with lunch break, I learned my friend Issei was tired as well as a few girls had disappeared. That lead me to figure out that the thing I had been feeling may have been affecting others as well. It was after school that I learned of more students missing.
Then came Rin confronting me in anger about being at school alone. Then she called me an idiot and fired balls of energy at me. Then I ran and she started to chase me. but I managed to distract her and escape into a classroom and plan a counter with runes and some nature magic. I was planning to create an elemental out some of school furniture to aid me in battle. but without full use of magic, I couldn't make more than an extra hard piece of desk. But before Rin could attack me, we heard a noise and found a hurt girl on the floor and were forced to help her.
But as Rin helped a bladed chain nearly hit Rin but I was able to protect her just in time and figure the source. But I ended up being attacked by a servant with purple hair that ran at high speeds. I took a few hits attacks from said servant but was able to use the trees to help me keep some of the attacks off me. but in time the servant caught me with her blade. Thankfully before she could deal a killing blow, Rin saved me.
Then after declaring our battle, it was done for now and took me home to treat me injuries. but as she did, Rin discovered my connection to Saber was likely giving me a passive healing affect. I then told Rin, I knew two of the masters were from the Greek and Egyptian factions of world and either could be the masters of the servant we faced. Then in turn she told me, the master at school was setting up a barrier to drain the mana from everyone at school and that we should team up to take out the master behind the barrier at least on a temporary basis to stop this master and prevent our friends at school from being hurt. I then told her what I could do and that I was a devil. But for now, I left out the fact my magic systems weren't as full power as of now and that I had made a magic crest from my adopted father.
After I returned home, I told Ravel about my current pact with Rin and that we would team up to battle the master at my school. Then Ravel told me in turn "I am sorry I didn't help you in battle, but if things got worse, I would have helped. The reason I didn't was in hoping of getting Rin on our side with the chance of getting her to join the peerage at best." I then told my master of my talk with Rin and that I wasn't sure if she would join us fully at this time." Then she told me Rin's servant left her a message with a time lock on it for her that she couldn't open it as of now. But she had the feeling it would unlock by the time this war ended.
The next day. Saber ate through much of my food stash in anger for my action in not summoning her even after Ravel assured to my servant, she would've sent Saber if things went badly. As time came for school, I noticed Saber coming with me and I wondered why she was then Ravel said "from this point on Saber will come with you to school. I had her set up as Haslin's daughter, Ria Emiya to start tomorrow." Thankfully for my sake, Rin came to my house to walk with me to school and make sure I would be safe.
But as we arrived at school, we learned the barrier was much stronger and I could tell people were struggling through the day. At school, I met Sakura and asked her about her brother not being at school. After that, I talked with Rin about the barrier and the master, and I guessed the master was likely Shinji. Rin talked to me about the barrier and how to slow it down. We had to find the sigils and destroy as many as we could to slow the barrier spell down. I was able to find the sigils with ease and we took many of them down. After that, I spent some time with Rin talking and mentioned my issue with my magical potential. She then promised to try and help me find a solution and then left me.
After Rin left me, I felt a surge of power and found a large sigil. After that, I ran into Shinji with the servant known as Rider as he was confirmed to be her master and then pretty much forced me to come to his house. I knew it would be best to do so to learn what Shinji was planning and figure if he could be reasoned with. I could at least tell if he was working for either of the two ancient beings trying to take over the earth and if I would need to kill him as soon as he revealed.
As I talked to Shinji, I learned he was trying to place the blame for the barrier on Rin. The boy tried to get me to join him by revealing he wasn't a magus due to issues with his bloodline. He also revealed his family was one of the three that started then holy grail war, along with the Tohsaka and the Einzbern families. He then revealed that Sakura wasn't a part of the war. He also told me there was a fourth master in our school. when I brought up master's with connections outside Japan besides Illya, he had no idea and said "the Matou family wouldn't have any dealings with dirty foreigners. But there is a fourth master in the school that could have connections to them. Also, there is a witch that could be a master or a servant using Ryuudou temple as a base. She is gathering soul for power." before I left Shinji told me, he was using an outside source to use magic.
After that, Shinji let me leave and had his servant guide me home. When I asked the servant, she replied the witch is real and has been plotting for a long time. It is possible she could have ties to the titan king or the serpent of chaos. On the way home, I met Issei, and he told me, "One of the monks has a fiancé living at the temple, her voice is enchanting."
After that, I returned home to an angry Rin and Saber but when I told them what I learned they were happier to gain info. They liked the information about Shinji's power source as well as the fact we learned of another master and their base. As I told that to Saber, she told me, the temple was a perfect base for a master. After that, Rin revealed she would be living at my house until we could finish off the master at school.
It wasn't long before Rin scanned my body and said about my magic "you have two conflicting magical systems as well as a dragon magical core that is currently inactive. It was a little later that I had to explain to Ravel about Rin and that she seemed to know more about my problem that she did but didn't have a solution any better than waiting. Ravel also figured attacking the temple anytime soon was a bad idea. She told Saber and I "after Shirou's current problem is solved, we might be able to attack but as he is now Shirou would stand no chance.
Saber pov
I knew it was a good idea to attack the temple just to see what we were facing but as I got close, felt two sets of eyes on me and I knew a battle would be soon.
Chapter end
Next chapter will have Saber meet her match in the form of a equally legendary swordsman while
Shirou learns about how to fight from a servant.
