Say anything ,by the Creator!
Lucy shuffled nervously dull claws digging into the pad of her palm. Was it to much? Did he think she was trying to hard? Was there fish on her face? Pine had just stared at her his mouth half open blue eyes wide. With the sun in her face it was difficult to judge his expression.
"Wow."
Finally he said, sliding off the bench. Awe was easy to hear in his words enough to send a tiny thrill up her spine. Lucys tail thumped the ground in response stepping on the rouge limb seemed appropriate but the otter thought agaisnt it.
"You sure have a way with words."
"Sorry…I…"
Pine stuffed his paws into his pockets clearly flustered. He looked good in the light, his fur scruffy sticking up here and there. Lucy took slow steps towards the wolverine his eyes flicked to her briefly before shooting to the ground. The otter reached out touching his right arm, he stiffened as she looped her arm through his.
"Coffee?" She asked leaning into him, a gentle tug was all it took and he was moving.
–
People stared.
She was pretty
He wanted to just…look at her.
They did, as the two of them walk into the diner. She was all smiles leading him to an open booth to sit. Many a male left a lingering gaze on the otters swaying back side. If Lucy had any inclination as to how her presence had a collective stop to any conversation/ eye contact with significant others/ some going so far as to neatly cover the rings on certain digits. She made no show of it.
This lasted till they got a good look at his teeth. He didn't realize that he was doing it baring his fangs until he slid in the booth. To his suprise instead of sitting across from him she got on the same side as him.
"Be nice." She tutted, elbowing him.
Pine blinked hunkering down in his seat as the waiter, a tall female gazelle with dark bags under eyes, approached. She took but one look at them and sighed as Lucy made sure she was extra close to him.
"What'll ya have?" The gazelle drawled with a practiced click of her pen, cocking a hip and flashing a tired smile. Pine hunched over and kept his eyes to the table, Lucy beamed at the waitress.
"Morning special, and two coffees please Janet!" She said sweetly drumming her paws on the table top. Janet nodded several times giving the flustered wolverine a once over. Pine was all but pressed to the wall as Lucy wiggled in her seat to get comfortable.
Heaven help this one… She thought, turning away from the pair.
"I absolutely love this place." Lucy chirped, batting her long lashes at him. Pine bobbed his head slowly, his eyes flicking around the somewhat bustling dinner.
"You…come here…often then?" He mumbled each word measured as he set his paws on the table lacing them together. She let out a laugh resting both her elbows on the table and leaned forward to rest her chin.
"Usually with family. Like my brother's or mom."
"I…see."
A long pregnant silence drew between them, Janet came around with two steaming mugs of coffee. Lucy picked hers up lightly blowing on it, taking several wary sips before setting it back down. Pine hadn't picked his up instead holding it with both paws watching it steam.
"So what do you do for a living?" She blurted out causing him to stiffen. Pine kept his eyes fixated on the tabletop digits carefully spinning the coffee cup slowly. Inwardly she cursed herself for the stereotypical question.
"A barber."
Lucy barked out a laugh causing several patron heads to turn their way.
Pine looked at her worried as the otter coughed awkwardly in her paw for several seconds.
"Wow I honestly…uh didn't expect that."
"What were you expecting?"
Lucy tapped her index fingers together shrinking in the seat. Something akin to a chuckle escaped his throat. She thanked the Creator when Janet came back with the food.
—
Hours later…
"This.is.easier under-woah-water." Lucy stated balancing one foot taking carefull steps along the low stone wall. Pine watched as her arms tilted up and down like a seesaw. Head tilted back, tail raised, and with a oyster balanced almost impossibly on her nose. It was like watching a trapeze act…a foot of the ground and no where near a circus tent.
"Why would you be doin-"
"Otter secrets!" She hissed opening a closed eye and winking. Pine held up both his hand in surrender watching the show. At the edge of the wall (more of a curb really) Lucy jumped with a spin. The oyster launched to the heavens as she twisted midair landing with both arms raised a over her head. Mouth open eyes closed the oyster tumbled down into her waiting-
Boobs.
The shell bounced over her chest skittering across the ground and into a sewage drain. Lucy made a face clenching her paws into fists.
"Tada?" She said weakly, Pine clapped slowly to which the otter bowed.
Of the many things done today perhaps that would be the highlight. From the diner they'd wandered a good while her doing most of the talking him listening. Zootpias museum of Aviation, an abstract art gallery, a taco stand that sold oysters of all things. It all felt so…
Surreal.
The sun was setting, they'd been out almost all day. Pine couldn't remember the last he had actually done something like this with someone. Their wandering had found them beside a canal that separated the Forest and Rainforest.
"That'll be fidty dollars." Lucy beamed as she rose from the bow. Pine snorted crossing his arms together and shaking his head.
"Who said…anything about cost?" He retorted with a feral grin.
"It's implied, obviously. Want a show you gotta pay for it afterwards!"
"Is it a show if…you botch the landing?"
Lucys cheeks puffed as she stamped her foot in mock agitation.
"That was-all part of the show! To dazzle! to amaze! To…." With a defeated sigh she ran a paw through the slight wave her short head fur. She was all smiles, gosh it was almost impossible to look away from it.
"Today was fun."
"Yeah…it was."
The otter starts to close the distance, hers eyes are half open. He can see the gentle creep of a blush forming. Lucy looks up to him reaching and touching the underside of his jaw. It so sudden the wolverine can't bring himself to react.
"I'd like to do it again…"
A warmth builds in his core, a her digits work their way into the stiff fur. His eyelids drift close as he leans into the touch.
-
Holy shit.
Lucy is doing everything in her power to not completely-
Holy.
Shit.
Sure she expected some reaction from him, like maybe a smile or an awkward blush or-whatever! Not looking like he'd just had some burden taken off his shoulders! Not making soft gasps as her digits really started to work into his fur-fuck it was so rough- that she had to bring her other paw up because the nurons in her brain demanded it.
Then they were moving.
It wasnt abrupt, or something so cliche as being bumped into one another.
She kissed him.
Hardly the first time a date had turned out like this but usually the guy initiated. Usually the guy would be breathless after they broke apart. Usually he'd go in again, and again until lack of oxygen made them both stumble and have to sit down.
Usually she was on the bottom.
Lucy came to some sort of sense with Pine bellow her their lungs taking in great heaps of air. Shes practically riding his crotch pinning him to the ground both paws planted firmly beside each side of head. He must have a good fifty pounds on her, all muscle nothing was stopping him from throwing her off.
Holy fuckin shit.
Panic hit her like a ten ton brick.
"I…think..this is a bit fast." Pines words are as thick as molasses. He made no effort to remove her, each breath they took mixed with each other. Their lips meet again, she's pressed full body against him unashamedly.
"And if I like things fast?"
His paws tentatively rest on her hips, a whisper of a gasp escapes the otter. His head lays down on the concrete claws digging slightly into her fur. Her paws snap to his chest taking with shaking breath as fistfuls of cloth are clenched between her digits. The gentle buck of her hips encouraged him to dig in more. It's becoming hazy now, scent sounds touch all she knows is….
She wanted to fuck him raw right here right now. Breed her right into the pavement, screw this wolverine so hard their children-
Children?
That delicious little fantasy pile-drived any notion of reason.
She's going to kiss him again.
Then rip his clothes off with her teeth.
"Then…I think we sho-"
"Ahem!"
Both of their heads snap to an smug faced aviator wearing fox, dressed in a ZPD uniform. Beside him was a much shorter gray rabbit doe who was covering her violet eyes trying and failing to not watch them. Lucy quickly scrambled off Pine, both of them stood up rigidly. The fox lowered his glasses, winked then nudged his partner with a hip check. With a salute from him both police officers walked away , the rabbit's head was bowed but it didn't stop her from jabbing the foxes side. Fox let out a lauging yelp rubbing the rabbit fondly between the ears. She proceeded to pull out a batton and start to chase him down the walkway.
Lucy and Pine looked at each other, embarrassed grins ticking the corners of their lips.
Bzzt!
The otter's phone broke the moment she snatched it from her back pocket. Pine respectfully stepped away as she whispered aggressively into the phone. After a few heated moments she hung up with a sign.
"I…have to go. Family emergency."
Lucy clutched her phone so hard the case started to creek. The scare moments before the only thing keeping her from pouncing on him. Pine cleared his throat, nodding slowly rubbing the back of his neck.
"Are you doing anything tomorrow?" She asked hopefully.
"Yes."
It hurt him in more ways than he dared to believe seeing her smile fade away.
"Oh okay then maybe-"
"I'm free…in the evening if you'd like… to do this again."
"Fantastic! You could come then…" Lucy paused in contemplation then shrugged.
"There's someplace cool I can take you then, send you the address later if that's alright."
Pine nodded as she clapped her paws together. Then again to his shock closed the distance between them and kissed him again. Lucy back away before he could react in kind.
"And maybe we can pick up where we left off…" She said in a tone that implied…
Pine heart thudded in his chest as the otter winked and broke into a run.
"Text you later!"
The wolverine raised a paw waving as she both ran and skipped away. A bus was waiting at the end of the walkway Lucy boarded turning as she was about to get on. She smiled, waving giddy back to him then…
Gone.
The bus rumbled away.
Pine blinked.
He let out his breath.
It was a beautiful thing, watching the sunset from here. As vivid orange danced within muted black, twisting in serenade forming twilight blues. A waltz as old as time itself the beginning unto the end.
For the first time in a long time.He looked forward to the darkness and the what the morning light would bring.
