Chapter 6- mysterious and dreaded reports
And so
Quaoar followed Aang through the woods until he finally found a small group of Narnian Moon visitors waiting just outside the edge of the trees. Standing at the front of the group was a fairly tall Grey Moon Man flanked by a few shorter Grey Man and a Little Green Man. Grey Moon Men resembled our common depiction of grey aliens in some of our world's science fiction movies. Their heads were bulbous and their eyes were large and bug-like, black or dark blue and shiny. Grey Men were sometimes short and stout but some were tall and thin as well. Their skin was slate grey with silvery blotches smothering it in places. Males had more of these markings than the females. Little Green Men resembled our common depictions of Martians. They were short, also had large heads with antennae atop them ending in either discs or knobs like a butterfly's but shorter. Their eyes were large much like the Grey Men's and their arms and legs were quite long, thin and lanky. Little Green Men males had neon green skin while the females, the women, had lime green skin and were shorter than the men by average height. Some Green Men also had markings but they were mostly neon green (males) or lime green (females). Both Green and Grey Men had magical abilities like telekinesis similar to the Magical Creatures like Kitsune and other Magical Foxes.
Present with the group were some Lumino Sprites. These creatures lived on the Narnian Moon, Bism in the Underground Domain, the Abyssal Domain and even the Celestial Domain, home of the Star People and Aurora Sprites, the most common species of the domain. These creatures came in a variety of shapes and colours but all were glowing bipedal humanoids with rounded heads, long pointy ears like a rabbit, mitten-like hands, tails like a cat and black and white eyes. Their colours were white, yellow, bright blue, lavender, orange, red and even sea-green which was rare. Another Narnian Moon creature, an Insect Rabbit-Dog was also present. These creatures had rounded heads, large black eyes, long ears like a Lumino and four arms ending in hands with clawed fingers. They had antennae (which were short and butterfly-like in males and long and thin in females), back spines and simple feet. The Insect Rabbit-Dog was strongly sexually dimorphic with the males being blue while the females being pink and the one present in Obi Wan's group was a male based on his blue fur. Quaoar then turned and, to his surprise, he saw a human stand to the lead Grey Man's left. At first, he thought the man to be a regular Son of Adam until he saw that he was glowing and surrounded by an aura of blue light. This indicated that he was Star Person and they often took human form when away from the Celestial Domain and their main distinguishing characteristic was often a blue aura of light around them. Some Star People, however, didn't display this trait.
After taking in a bit of time in acknowledging the Narnian Moon and Celestial Domain visitors, Quaoar addressed the tall lead Grey Man.
"Hi, Obi Wan," said the Kitsumiho, "What brings you all the way down here from the Narnian Moon regarding my twin sister Siveth?" as he said this, hope was bubbling within him for he had been worried about his twin sister. Then the lead Grey Man named Obi Wan spoke.
"That's why we have come here to talk to you, Quaoar," replied Obi Wan, "We wanted to know if you know anything about your twin sister who was supposed to have arrived on the Moon to be a temporary teacher in our schools about Aslan and possibly have any knowledge as to why she hasn't turned up for so long."
"She was supposed to have arrived some months ago from Asgard Sky City but over that time, no sign of her," said one of the white Luminos, "Even now she is still absent."
Quaoar gazed at Aang with a worried look on his face. This was indeed a disturbing and odd revelation.
While Quaoar and Aang talked to Obi Wan's group about Siveth and her absence, in another den made into a special lab, Moana and her team were testing and examining the remaining drips from Spot's Wish Potion. A variety of apparatus similar to the apparatus we used in chemistry classes and labs in our world was set up on a large table. Liquids bubbled and steamed in the transparent containers and tubes made from a Narnia-exclusive glass. Two Brownie potion experts continued putting testing chemicals into the solution in a glass cup similar to a beaker, the solution with a tiny sample of the drips from Spot's Wish Potion horn dissolved for this purpose. Nearby, Moana and a Snake tested the rest of the drips on a special testing paper. This paper acted like litmus paper and changed colour according to the chemicals contained within solutions. Around the den-turned-lab, the other members of the female Azure Dragon's chemistry team made sure that no spillages were around. Like in our world, chemicals in Narnia were dangerous and had to be handled carefully and the experimenters also wore eye protection. After all, experiments with chemicals in Narnia were no different from those in our world except the material for the protection goggles' transparent parts was of Narnian source.
As Moana and her team continued testing the drips from Spot's horn, Naihanchi tailspin-flew in and touched down at the entrance to the den, disappointed and perplexed. She had been to the market to buy another horn of Wish Potion from that Chimp in his stand but had returned empty-pawed. As the colourful Nekomata with long hair stepped into the lab, Moana saw her and handed the testing paper to a nearby Lizard who took over. Then the Azure Dragoness went over to Naihanchi and lifted her safety goggles from her eyes, "Did you manage to buy another Wish Potion Horn?"
"I couldn't find that stand described to us by Spot the Cheetah anywhere," replied Naihanchi, "I've flown to every corner of the market, asked around, nothing. Either that Chimp has packed up and left or he must be hiding away. I'm afraid we're gonna have to manage with what we've got..." she then gazed at the Lizard and the Snake handling the testing paper as they dug up a result, "What have you found from those last remaining drips, Moana?"
Moana left with Naihanchi to the Snake and the Lizard, the Nekomata donning safety goggles on the way but as they did that, a knock sounded at the door.
"Who's there?" called Moana. In response, a visitor stepped into the lab. It was a female blue and white Budgie based on the orange cere above her beak (males had aqua blue) and she was from another community. The Snake turned to her and flinched in alarm.
"Whoa, don't ssssstep int' here, ma'am," he said, "Thisssss isssss a lab an' there are many hazardousssss chemicalssss in 'ere."
The Budgie obediently took a step back into the doorway as Naihanchi and Moana came over to her.
"Anything important to report, Bluebell?" asked the former.
"Yes, but I was gonna see tell it to Quaoar," replied the Budgie, Bluebell, "But I couldn't find him. But if you'd like I can tell it to you first. Three members of my community have been exhibiting rather disturbing behaviours and side-effects from some potion they had purchased from the market and had consumed and I want Quaoar to know this."
"What's happened to these three members of your community who have consumed this potion?" asked Naihanchi.
"Was this stuff Wish Potion like what Spot had consumed here?" asked Moana. The Snake looked on and slithered back to his Lizard colleague to check the testing paper while the two Brownies waited for the testing solution to show its results. Bluebell then launched into the report:
"One of the consumers of this Wish Potion was a Greyhound Dog. She purchased this potion two weeks ago to get rich and when she did get rich over a period of just a few days, she ended up UTTERLY miserable and is now suffering from some sort of physical illness as though she had drunk something poisonous. The second consumer of this potion was an Elaphocentaur; his greatest wish was to become a LOT more handsome with a well-built physique and he purchased another horn of Wish Potion to achieve this goal, again two weeks ago. He consumed the potion and it did transform his Humanoid body into a handsome, muscular look and changed his hair into a long flowing shining mat, resulting in him winning all the females of his herd. However, his side-effects was EXTREME pride and vanity and since he had become so boastful about his physique and looks, his friends had abandoned him. He is now embittered and resentful and is using the female Elaphocentaurs in the wrong ways but that only made him even MORE miserable and bitter. Lastly, an Otter who had lost his wife last year and longed to see her alive again despite the fact that you die once and face judgement from Aslan as it says in his Word, had purchased a horn of Wish Potion three weeks ago and had consumed it. The potion then 'resurrected' his wife and the Otter gladly spent some time with her but he eventually realised that his 'wife' was just an apparition generated by his own mind from the potion, implying psychological, hallucination-inducing effects. This went on for days and eventually, the Otter was driven UTTERLY mad from the frustration of the apparition and the fact that it wasn't a real flesh-and-blood creature. Eventually, he disappeared mysteriously two days ago..."
As Naihanchi and Moana listened and took in this report about these three consumers of the potion, they stood stock still. This was NOT at all good. Then Naihanchi commanded Bluebell, "You pass what you have told us to Quaoar right NOW while we finish testing the Wish Potion sample we have managed to obtain from a young Cheetah who has consumed it."
Bluebell nodded and flew off to look for Quaoar while Naihanchi and Moana returned to work. As they did that, Naihanchi shot Moana a VERY serious look.
"I have a BAD feeling about this Wish Potion and what it's been made from, Moana," she said, "If it is made from what I think it's made from then Aslan HELP US!"
Moana said nothing and then returned to work with Naihanchi on the investigation of the Wish Potion drips.
"Siveth was to spend a few days in Asgard Sky City to prepare her notes and her temporary teaching role in our schools on the Moon before going there," Obi Wan explained, "But as we've stated before, she has mysteriously disappeared. Now we don't know if something has happened to her or she has decided not to come..."
"She would have told you if she decided that," said Quaoar.
"She would have done but she hasn't," said a white Lumino, "Not via messenger, or screen communicator, nothing."
"We even tried contacting Asgard Sky City regarding her," added a Little Green Man, "But to our surprise, they wouldn't respond. We've been trying to do that for three months following Siveth's scheduled arrival time but to no avail."
"And that is unusual," said another Lumino, a fat bright blue one, "Normally, Asgard Sky City is open to the other Domains and is an interchange, normally to your Domain, the Land, the Narnian Sun, Narnian Moon and other areas of the Sky Domain."
"But for some reason, it had stopped being that and has been doing so for a number of months since Siveth's arrival to the place," said yet another Lumino, a yellow one, "We even tried the Bifrost Transporter but even that didn't work."
Quaoar then entered into thought over this report.
"Go on," said Aang.
"And after trying to contact Asgard for so long," Obi Wan continued, "We became worried and even suspicious and decided to investigate the city itself," he then turned to the glowing man to his left, "We enlisted the help of this Star Man, Crasher Wake who was visiting the Moon in our investigation."
Then the Star Man whose human form was a man with long silvery blue hair cascading down the sides and back of his head and a glow around him, spoke. "And I suggested that we take a Flying Saucer for manual examination of the city since after all, we couldn't use the Bifrost Transporter to access it directly."
"Has something happened in Asgard?" asked Quaoar.
"That's what we have been trying to find out," said Crasher Wake, "and as we floated near the city with our Flying Saucer, we carried out a set of examinations including Bifrost Transporter activity and once we got and analysed the results, we drew some conclusions, both unusual and disturbing."
"We have absolutely no idea of what's going on in Asgard," said Obi Wan, "but the entire place has indeed closed its borders to the rest of the world to disallow outsiders from entering it and those within from leaving."
"It's as though someone had enclosed the entire city in an Incluser Bubble force field to prevent anyone from leaving or entering it," continued the white Lumino, "However, we did detect activities from the Bifrost Transporter port in the city via the Saucer's scanners, implying someone from within the city is leaving or entering."
"How often has the Bifrost Transporter been used by the isolated Asgard?" asked Quaoar.
"Varied and in an erratic manner devoid of any pattern," replied Obi Wan, "Sometimes it's frequent, other times it's a pulse every few hours. We don't know why but we did not like what's likely going on in the city, especially its closing its borders to the rest of the world. For a city that is welcoming to everyone from other domains including the Land to do that is beyond us."
"It's very worrying indeed," said another white Lumino. Quaoar then entered thought as he began to ponder over the group's message about Asgard Sky City. It was like another piece to the puzzle but he just cannot figure where to put it. As the Kitsumiho thought over the message, Aang gazed at Obi Wan and his group.
"I used to love visiting Asgard Sky City and the surrounding Skylands when I was a younger White Tiger," said the pure white Striped Cat belonging to one of the four Cardinal Beast species, "One of my favourite places was seeing the wild Sky Whales flying over the Sky Meadows and Forests and those Stalker-Flies hunting one down. The only place I could not visit was the Rainbowberry Orchard due to its three incredibly dangerous gates. What you've described to us about the capital of the Skylands doing something like that is definitely not normal at all."
As the White Tiger spoke, a little blue and white parrot with stripes on her back fluttered in. As with any other Talking Beasts formed by Aslan from naturally small dumb creatures being larger than their dumb counterparts, Talking Budgies were bigger than regular budgies and were about the size of a small macaw on average. The Talking Budgie was Bluebell and she had come to give Quaoar an important report as redirected by Naihanchi and Moana from the latter's labs. She had asked another member of Quaoar's community members and he or she had told her that Quaoar had gone to the edge of the forest with Aang.
"Um, Quaoar," she called, attracting the Kitsumiho's attention. Quaoar turned to her with Aang as she continued, "I bring an important report from my community that you should hear. I tried to find you in your area but you were out here so Niahanchi and Moana redirected me to you. I asked Crimsonandil and she sent you here."
"What have you to report, Bluebell?" asked Quaoar.
"Have any of your other members apart from some young Cheetah named Spot consumed something called Wish Potion?" asked the small Parrot, "Three of my community members, a Greyhound, an Elaphocentaur and an Otter have and all three of them have experienced horrific side-effects."
"What sort of side-effects have they suffered?" asked Quaoar. Bluebell then retold the same report to Quaoar what she had told to Naihanchi and Moana, including those three's desires, getting what they wanted from the potions and their negative results and eventual fates. As she described what happened to the three consumers, Obi Wan flinched while his accompaniers exchanged worried looks.
"That sounds like the negative effects the Nine-Realms Potion ingredient of the Land Domain, the Garden of Youth fruits, gives to consumers with selfish motives," said Obi Wan. He was an expert of the Land Domain and knew about the Garden of Youth and its important role shortly after Aslan's creation of the Narnian world.
"Didn't the White Witch suffer such when she ate one of those fruits?" asked a Little Green Man.
"Such as a bottomless pit of greed and revulsion of the fruit alongside her desire for immortality and enhancement in her powers," added the male Insect Rabbit-Dog.
"Another creature, the Cartoon Shadow Cat, also consumed some of those fruits to fulfil its desire for a boost in its powers," added Crasher Wake, "but its negative side-effects included revulsion to sweet things like the sweet smell of Land flowers, extreme reaction to water, an immense aversion to sunlight with such an extreme that it can only travel in the dark or at night, and a horrific injury inflicted on it from the Guardian Phoenix on its shoulder that ABSOLUTELY refused to heal..."
When Quaoar heard this, he flinched in alarm. The potion consumed by the Greyhound, Otter and Elaphocentaur described to him and Aang by Bluebell the Budgie was the VERY same potion Spot had recently consumed. And based on this, a bad feeling welled within him as well.
"I hope whoever has invented that Wish Potion stuff hasn't..." the Kitsumiho spoke with dread. However, he broke it off and turned to Bluebell with a SERIOUS look on his face, "You carry on your task in spreading that report of those three consumers of this potion to the other communities and thanks for telling me this."
Bluebell nodded, spread her wings and took off to fly to the next community of Narnian Creatures. Before she left, she said, "Some other flying members of my community have been sent as well."
"Good," said Quaoar and with that, Bluebell disappeared from sight. Quaoar then turned to Obi Wan and his group.
"Sorry to be brusque with you guys but I MUST go to a Cheetah family living in my community and warn them of any horrific side-effects he might obtain from the potion one of their family members had drunk. Aang will continue the conversation."
"Oh, so one of your community members has drunk this Garden of Youth fruit-like potion too?" asked Obi Wan. However, Quaoar had already disappeared back into the trees, his nine white, ivory, silver, metallic icy blue and metallic yellow tails sweeping after him. Quaoar rushed back to the Big Cats' den and delivered the horrific news to Spot's family. A few of the Cheetahs reacted in horror but some of them such as Spot's own parents, scoffed at the warnings as a joke and against Quaoar's protests, they left with Spot to the expert kitchen area for his promotion. Quaoar reacted in despair for the young Cheetah and dreaded the consequences of drinking that potion alongside obtaining his heart's desire to be a cook. Spot does get promoted and his products were instantly popular and over time, he is immediately promoted to top cook for his enhanced skills and soon enough, his family began to rake in a large sum of lions (Narnian currency like the English pound or American dollars in our world). His family was VERY proud of the newfound income but sooner or later, Spot's consequences will manifest themselves.
