Today marks the second week of Primrose and Caleb's cold war. Despite being in the same room every night, nothing has changed between them. Lilian continues to be her pillar of support, calling her on the phone almost every day to check on her best friend. Her kind words, along with the playful jesting, ease the turmoil within her heart.

Her day is simple, a stroll in the garden with Lilith, a chess match with Kian, gathering materials for her next book, and practicing her concoction skills for the upcoming exam. Lumera and Rosalina have been great mentors for her, teaching her everything she needs to learn and prepare for the exam. Since she has failed two times already, Primrsoe silently prays that the third time will be the charm for her.

Rosalina, ever the caring mother, questions her strained connection with Caleb. Her motherly instinct is strong as she confronts Lilith about the matter, wishing for the young lord to address the situation and apologizes to her daughter for causing such pain. The younger Vatore understands her concern and promises that her brother has no one else in his heart besides Primrose, but Rosalina can not hold back her disappointment, not when she sees how the silent treatment is taking a toll on her daughter.

Lumera stands by Primrose's side as she agrees with Rosalina. Had she known this would happen, she would never have allowed Caleb to be close to Primrose, let alone come back to her. but Marlin and Edward interject, saying that the delicate problem should be handled with care, not being pushed by outsiders. And while he is worried about his daughter, Edward believes that she will have the power to pull through.

Despite his belief that Caleb and Primrose should handle things at their own pace, Edward warns his daughter about being the only person invested in the relationship.

"Someone who doesn't take the initiative to change is not worthed for you to invest in, Primrose."

That was what her father told her after she visited their house.

Primrose grapples with her father's advice, weighing the significance of his wise words. The emotional burden of the silent war with Caleb is taking its toll on her, and even in the solace embrace of her friends and family, she finds herself at a loss, unable to move forward or backward.

As she continues her daily activities, preparing for the upcoming exam and immersing herself in the nurturing environment of the Vatore estate, Primrose reflects on her relationship with Caleb. The pain of his silence, coupled with the haunting memories of their separation years ago, casts a shadow over her heart and each passing day becomes a test of endurance for her.

Today is the same. After she finishes her book in the reading room, Primrose finds herself in the garden, embracing the lovely scent of white roses and hoping to find peace in the storm in her heart. In the white rose garden, she catches a glimpse of a familiar brunette, followed by the blond beauty, worries etch her face when she realizes who they are.

Inna Cents, along with Seraphina Bloodhaven, are here to visit…

Primrose wonders if she should follow them or not, knowing that their visit is nothing more than to push a marriage onto Caleb. Despite their cold war, a spark of annoyance forms in her heart as she thinks about what honeyed words will spill out of Inna Cents as she tries to play matchmaking for the young lord and Seraphina Bloodhaven.

Curiosity gets the best of her and the raven head slowly makes her way to his study room, a shaking hand touches the door knob as she prepares herself for whatever lies beyond this door. However, a hand lands on her shoulder, startling the water mage. She turns around, only to meet those pretty lilac-colored eyes as Kian smiles at her, motioning Primrose to come with him.

"I know that you are curious, but don't let their vile intention get to you." Lilith's husband pulls out a chair as he invites her to sit down, pouring a cup of tea for her "Here, your tea."

"T-thank you…" she feels the warm cup spreading through her palms "Why are you…?"

"I want to accompany you. It's quite lonely in this estate if you don't talk to anyone."

Primrose manages to nod at his remark, wondering if there is any hidden meaning behind his words. Kian shares his music with her, showing the new piece he just wrote a few days ago. His friendly smile and warm words make their way to her heart, easing the fear that etches on her face after seeing Inna and Seraphina.

As he continues to share his work, Primrose slowly opens up about her new book as well. The artistic bond between them becomes the main topic of discussion. Kian reflects on his music, stating that he is planning to compose another song for Lilith as their wedding anniversary is coming soon. The news brings a smile to the raven head's face as she questions whether they will have a small celebration between them or they are going to invite everyone.

"We usually celebrate together. Our marriage is blessed by Caleb, not other people…"

Her smile drops upon hearing this, realizing that she might have overstepped her boundaries by suggesting a big celebration. Kian shakes his head, reassuring her that she has done nothing wrong and it is normal for him and Lilith to face this kind of prejudice, he is the son of Vladislaus Straud after all.

"But he is gone. Why would they…?"

"Sometimes, you just have to learn to ignore other people's opinions, especially if they don't serve you well."

Kian's mind wanders back to the day Caleb accepted him into the family. In front of their allies, he accepted the son of Vladislaus Straud, House Vatore's arch-enemy. Their wedding, attended by only a few people close to them, was also blessed by Caleb as he allowed Kian to become a Vatore, the action that fueled the anger of many allies.

"You know, Richard once hated me a lot."

"Butler Richard?"

Kian smiles, nodding his head enthusiastically. For someone who has pledged their loyalty to House Vatore for many generations, it is Richard's duty to oversee the success of his lord. When Kian first arrived at the estate, the wise advisor had nothing but vile words whenever they talked to each other, warning the blond vampire to know his place and never betray Caleb and Lilith.

"He was quite a scary man, I have to give you that…"

"He does ooze a guardian-type energy." Primrose hums in response.

"But he is a good person, you know. Took me a while but I managed to win his favor, and the heart of Lilith as well."

His joking comment is a contrast to the overall calmness Kian usually wears on his face. The blond vampire believes that butler Richard trusts Primrose, but she begs the differ.

"You don't think so?" an amusement glint shines in his eyes "Lilith told me this before, butler Richard is quite vocal when it comes to Caleb's partner."

"Vocal?" raising an eyebrow, Primrose is now curious at how the wise advisor acts behind her back.

"She told me that he would raise his concern whenever he felt like Brother's partner was not a good match for him. Things would resolve rather quickly too, in a matter of weeks I believe."

Weeks?

But she and Caleb have been together for almost a year now…

"If he doesn't like you, Richard would probably side with Inna Cents to push you away from Caleb." Kian takes a sip of his tea, enjoying the delightful taste that slowly warms up his body "As for Seraphina Bloodhaven, there is no need for you to be worried."

With strong conviction, the blond vampire believes that no one will ever replace her as the Lady of House Vatore, for Primrose is the only woman who holds the key to Caleb's heart.

His kind words resonate with the raven head as she stares at her reflection in the teacup, choosing to believe that her bond with Caleb is stronger than any obstacles that come their way.

Caleb, accompanied by butler Richard, holds a steady gaze upon the women in his study room. Inna Cents, getting wind of the cold war between him and Primrose, seizes the opportunity to bring Seraphina with her to offer him support.

"Good day Caleb, how have you been?" Inna smiles "I receive news about House Voss and their involvement in such a horrendous crime. My apology for being unable to offer you aid."

The young lord shakes his head, acknowledging his fault for not bringing their crime to light sooner. Inna disagrees. If anything, she knows that Caleb has done everything he can to ensure the safety and peace of Forgotten Hollow. The downfall of House Voss, along with the wicked Selene serves as a punishment for those who dare to threaten the peace they have shed blood for.

Seraphina lowers her head, expressing how remorseful she is for not being able to see through the vile plan of Selene. Had she been smart enough, Caleb would not have stained his hands for such a foul foe like House Voss.

"My lord, please accept my humble apology. As the daughter of House Bloodhaven, I have fallen into the deception of Selene Voss. House Vatore, once again, has saved us all."

"It is my duty, Lady Seraphina. And I could not have done without the help of my ally."

"I see. I will also want to extend my gratitude to Butler Richard, Lilith, and…" trailing off, Inna reluctantly continues "Her husband for helping you in that mission."

Caleb nods, acknowledging his family's assistance. Glancing at his trusted butler, he would have never been able to know the truth without the help of Richard.

"My lord, I would like to offer my thanks to Primrose Emberlynn too. Despite being an outsider, she chose to stand by your side and fight with everyone."

There is a glimpse of surprise in Caleb's silver orbs before he masks it with the usual composed expression. Seraphina's words intrigue him nonetheless…

"Oh, where is your mate?" Inna looks around, looking for someone "I assume that she would be here by your side?"

"Primrose is busy with her work. She is studying for her concoction test."

The brunette raises a brow, unsure if Caleb is trying to avoid talking about his mate or if is she truly busy at this moment. This is a crucial time for her to be by his side, for a Lady of the House to be absent in the midst of political turmoil within Forgotten Hollow like that is unacceptable. Inna scoffs at the thought, turning her attention to Seraphina whose cheeks adorn a lovely blush, she chuckles at the sight.

"Caleb, it is understandable that in a crucial time like this, you will need a companion who understands the sophisticated matter of politics and can fully offer their support for you. Seraphina here is quite a talent of her own, you will find solace and comfort with her by your side."

Seraphina bashfully looks away, the blond beauty steals a glance at Caleb, green eyes shining with admiration.

"Perhaps a shared moment between you and Lady Seraphina would offer a respite from the burdens you currently bear. A stroll through the garden, perhaps?"

Caleb's eyes bear no emotion as he listens to Inna Cent's rain of praise as she talks about the virtue and dignity of the Bloodhaven princess. Seraphina, catching a glimpse of his striking silver orbs, smiles to herself as she envisions the day those eyes lay solely on her and no one else. That would be a lovely outcome for her, the day Caleb introduces her as the Lady of House Vatore.

As her praises continue, Inna subtly points out the stark contrast between the alluring rose, Seraphina Bloodhaven, and the rustic wildflower, Primrose. She emphasizes their upbringing, believing that a pumpkin like the raven head would never be able to understand the sophisticated world that Caleb lives in.

"Her gratitude towards House Vatore is sincere, and she wishes to express it in person. A shared moment might not only bring solace to your heart but also strengthen the bonds that tie our houses together." the brunette looks at her friend, she genuinely cares about the future of House Vatore and Forgotten Hollow "I know that House Bloodhaven has proposed a union with you and Seraphina here also accepts the cost of being your second mate, think about it, Caleb…"

A beautiful maiden like Seraphina can never be the second choice of anyone and Inna urges the young lord to reconsider his decision of choosing Primrose as his only mate.

"A mere human who knows nothing about this world will only bring shame to your family, Caleb."

Seraphina says nothing, closing her eyes as she absorbs the wise words of Inna Cents.

That's right, that wretched human would only be a hindrance to you, Lord Vatore. I, Seraphina Bloodhaven, am the only maiden who is suitable by your side…

Behind that bashfulness lies an eerie laugh that is masked perfectly by the red hue on her cheeks. Seraphina bats her lashes shyly, the same way that human girl does everything she is by his side. The blond maiden has taken notice of that, maybe it is her innocent nature that has made Caleb fall deeply in love with her…

"I am grateful for your kindness, but my stand remains." his silver orbs betray no emotions as he looks at them "Primrose is the only one for me, I choose no one else but her."

The grip on Seraphina's dress tightens as she hears his answer. No matter how many times they come here, trying to bait him with guilt and political issues, his decision stays the same. She steals a glance at Inna Cents, finding her tactic useless.

Pathetic woman…

The blond beauty nods her head as she gracefully accepts his decline, yet the fire in her heart grows even more.

Lord Caleb, the more you decline my feelings, the more I want you to be mine and only mine…

Butler Richard stands behind him, watching everything unfold in front of his eyes. Caleb remains absolute in his decision to be by Primrose's side and despite him having a few things he wants to say, the wise advisor chooses to bite his tongue instead.

Is she truly the only one who can make you happy, my lord?

Caleb turns to Richard, motioning him to take out the envelopes in the desk drawer, invitations to a party hosted by House Vatore.

"House Vatore will have a party at the end of this week, we wish to see you there."

"Of course, Caleb. Seraphina and I will come." Inna accepts the invitation gracefully "For now, we will take our leave. Thank you for having us."

Seraphina returns to her manor with an annoying expression. As the door closes behind her, that graceful noble act she puts on disappears. Without even uttering a single word, she grabs the attending maid by her arm and slaps her across the face. The rain of assault continues as the poor girl cries for help, begging her lady to stop.

It has become a routine for Seraphina, every time she is in a bad mood, someone will have to endure her anger.

"You worthless wretch!"

"My lady, please!"

The maid's painful cry echoes through the hall, but no one dares to step in. The servants all know that if they choose to intervene, it is not punishment that they have to endure, it is death that awaits them.

Seraphina grabs the maid by her hair, pulling the poor girl across the hall and into the kitchen, where the other servants watch in horror as she grabs a pair of scissors and cuts the brown locks of her victim. She then cuts off the clothes the maid is wearing, glaring at her when she is trying to cover herself with her arms.

"Laugh at her!" Seraphina orders "Laugh at this lowlife pig, can you see you ridiculously looking she is? What a shameful wretch!"

The servants look at each other, stiffed and forceful laughs fill the air as they try to please to Bloodhaven princess. The maid is horrified at her lady's punishment and ashamed of how disgraced she looks, covering her face as she cries. However, her heartbreaking tears only fuel Seraphina's sadistic manner, the blond beauty finds joy in the suffering of the maid before she takes her leave, enjoying a fleeting moment of satisfaction.

She finds her father in his study room, stomping her feet angrily as she sits on the luxurious sofa as she recalls what happened at the Vatore's estate today.

"That stupid Inna Cents is not helping me at all, what a pathetic woman!"

"Calm down now Seraphina…" Lord Bloodhaven, ever the calm man, sternly warns his daughter.

"Calm down?" she screeches at him, swiping off the tea set onto the floor, shattering everything "He rejected me again for that human wretch!"

Her shriek echoes through the room, making lord Bloodhaven wince in pain as his ear starts to hurt. The man can never understand Caleb Vatore's fixation on his human mate. That little girl who hails from the prominent Emberlynn and Minamoto families is nothing but a human who knows a little bit of magic. His daughter, however, is a noblewoman with beauty, poise and grace. An alluring flower that attracts the eyes of men.

"And that bitch Selene Voss, had she done her job and killed off that Lilian wretch, I would have seized the opportunity to be by Lord Vatore's side!"

Tempting Selene to kidnap Lilian Collins, their plan was to have Primrose Emberlynn come and rescue her friend, there they would let the two women fight to their deaths. While they were not able to get rid of Caleb's human mate, the death of Selene Voss was still a victory nonetheless. For that wicked woman to strike down her own blood and meet her demise under the hands of Caleb Vatore, House Voss fell soon after that. A spectacular end for a cunning fox who chose to play a double game.

"They are mere pawns in our hand, Father!" the blond maiden responds "However, it is Primrose Emberlynn who is standing in my way! She must be gone for me to be the Lady of House Vatore!"

"And you must not act recklessly, my dear child. Don Lothario may be gone, but he was captured by Lilith Vatore. The Vatore family is likely to breathe on our necks now."

Seraphina huffs in response. She doesn't care about that at all. The only two things she cares about are the increasing amount of sacrifice for her beauty and the path to becoming Caleb's mate. Anything else besides that is nothing but trivial things to her.

Lord Bloodhaven continues to calm his daughter down, despite wearing the graceful face of a noblewoman outside, Seraphina is nothing but a hot-headed child on the inside. Had he not stood behind and told her to control that childish side of her, the Bloodhaven princess would never have had a chance to be friends with Inna Cents, let alone meet the young Head of House Vatore.

"Father, you must help me eliminate that wretch! I want Caleb, I want him!"

"Throwing tantrums won't help you get anywhere further, Seraphina. Control your temper or I will do it for you!"

Seraphina flinches when her father's ominous amber eyes stare down at her, she shifts uncomfortably on the sofa, nodding her head profusely. Her father's wrath is the last thing she wants to see upon all the misfortunes she has received today.

Lord Bloodhaven shakes his head, disappointed at his daughter's childish act. For now, they must lay low. He can not afford to fail his plan, House Bloodhaven must rise above everyone else and he will make sure that day comes, the day when his family bathes in the light of glory.

"You must play your card right, Seraphina. One wrong move and you will be out of the equation immediately." he continues "Continue to be by Inna Cent's side until you win the favor of Caleb Vatore and you shall not act recklessly."

The Bloodhaven princess scoffs at her father's stern warning. She is Seraphina Bloodhaven, the noblest of them all, she is not a coward who hides behind her father's back. If he chooses to not do anything, then she will do it.

Do not underestimate me, Father. I will do whatever I want. Until I have the heart of Lord Vatore, I will not stop!
