"KuKuKu, The Fox finally rejoins the fun. How nice of you to join us Naruto-kun. It is a bit rude to cut off one's hand but." He made a pause and unhinged his jaw, the skin falling down like it was not attached to his body and a new Orochimaru with both hands stepped out, watching as Naruto sealed the cut of his hand away. "KuKuKu, Why did you take my hand Naruto-kun, you are really not my type."

Naruto just stared at the whole thing with his sword in hand. "You are disgusting Orochimaru. Get lost" he snarled only for the Sannin to chuckle again in his usual manner pulling the Kusanagi Blade out of his mouth.

"Let's see if you can make the cut Naruto-kun, maybe I can do some research on your dead body later" The Snake smiled evilly before he vanished, only for a metallic clang of the two blades meeting midway to be heard next. Naruto had no time to speak his seals were off he was nearly at his full capabilities without relying on his tenants' strength or secret techniques. Sasuke looked after Sakura for the moment while he could only look on as the two were matching each other in speed clashing midair jumping from different branches at each other. Sasukes eyes were deactivated for the moment conserving chakra so he could not really judge who was the better sword fighter, one thing was clear though. They would need help sooner than later but first, he would have to make sure that Sakura would pull through. Quickly taking inventory of the damage he used the diagnostics Jutsu they both had learned just before the exam. Sakura really had toughed up some, with two broken rips and some deeper cuts she would have been out of it long before if it was still the Academy Sakura. The markings on her throat from the choking were getting a bit red and would surely color blue in the morning. He unsealed some of the healing salves they had on their first aid kits and did some field medic work before a clone of Naruto crouched down just next to him.

"How bad is the damage, Sasuke?" The clone asked while preparing for departure, good thing Naruto had summoned them at the beginning. While Sasuke got the clone up to speed the original met hit for hit with the Sanin who gradually upped the speed. Naruto had trained under very harsh conditions but a real battle against someone with Orochimaru's experience was a whole different thing. Narutos' form was as perfect as it could be and from the skill perspective, he looked far more superior. The Snake Sannin, while using no distinctive Kenjutsu certainly was flexible enough to dodge or evade any way needed and in time.

One small thing was that the much older ninja looked focused and not really as chatty as before they started trading blows. While the clone took hold of Sakura and prepared to extract her to safety Sasuke was looking up at the fight again and was ready to bite down on the soldier pill to rejoin it just as a metallic clang sounded at the upper half of Naruto's Chakrablade was flying at him. He could dodge it but looked spooked.

"I really liked that blade snake face." Naruto snarled looking at his destroyed blade before he had to stop a swipe with a chakra chain wrapped around his left forearm. Countering with a chain controlled by his right arm that graced the Snake Sannin.

"KuKuKu, the fabled Uzumaki Chains. I never believed in seeing those things again after Kushinas demise. I think I will take you after I give Sasuke-kun my gift"

The Snake Sannin chuckled before vanishing from sight. Naruto could feel he was coming straight from behind him and turned just in time to direct the stab of the Kusanagi from his heart to the left side of his upper body. Screaming out the pain as the blade pierced his lung and feeling the heat from the wound of the blade with all the venom injected into his system Naruto knew he had a problem. Holding himself up by clinging to Orochimaru's shoulder with one arm he spit blood. He got some of it on the snake that unknowingly to the Sannin changed shape before disappearing.

"I will get you in the next life Snakeface." Naruto snarled before he collapsed on the blade still standing before Orochimaru pulled it out looking at the allegedly dead Jinchuriki.

"Well, that is a pity." He said with a hint of sadness in his tone. before looking at the Uchiha, noticing that the pink Kunoichi was missing. He witnessed as Sasuke was taking in the Soldier pill his eyes closed. "What are you about to do Sasuke-kun after I killed your teammate."

Sasuke was battling his emotions, emotions he didn't even know existed. As he had to watch another person be killed by a superior opponent something in him snapped. After he had "lost" Itachi, Naruto had tried to help him, after the Uchiha clan got nearly wiped out. They had trained together and he was the closest person to call a friend. His confidant even. He would be strong this time. Even against a superior opponent. He was Sasuke Uchiha and the world would get to know his name!

So as he opened his eyes again they were different. Gone was the Three-Tomoe-Sharingan, a six-pointed red star was in his place. Inside it was another six-pointed star connected to the bottom points of the red triangle-like shapes with a small black line. "I will kill you Orochimaru. AMATERASU!" screaming the last word the black flames of the Uchiha clan got hold of the Snake Sannin. Not even the Mud clone could shake them off him and so after some screams, he had to use his Rejunivation Jutsu.

"I was wrong, Sasuke-kun you are worthy of my gift. But I have to go now I think." Orochimaru attacked. This time with all his finesse and strength from the start. Even with his new and now bleeding eyes Sasuke could see what would happen but his body was too slow to react in time as the snake dodged his punch before he sunk in his teeth into Sasuke's neck.

The Uchiha howled in pain before he clutched the wound, unable to stand back up he could only watch as Orochimaru looked at Naruto. Following with his eyes he could see that there was still chakra in him somehow, not wanting to tip his adversary off, Sasuke used his pain to clench his teeth before the Sannin gave him a last glance. "You will come to me" With these last words he sunk into the ground and a pulse of chakra deactivated his eyes and send the Uchiha boy into the dark abyss.

In Naruto's Mindscape

Naruto opened his eyes grumbling and looking around. "Well, that is not as bad as I thought." He tried to joke only for another Naruto to look at him. This one had not blue eyes but Onyx-like ones. Seemingly looking completely black and void of emotions.

"Great, he can even joke after he royally fucked up" the sarcasm in the voice of his mirror image was nearly hurting as Naruto slowly got up looking at this other version of himself.

"Who are you?"

"I am the better you!"

"You are me? But if you are me, who am I?"

"You are celery you but also you are me just a worse version of it got it?

Kurama peeked out of its cage sighing. Certainly both sides of the same idiot. The fox grumbled deeply before going back focussing on the body of his host because he was not really keen on dying any time soon.

"Why should I be the worse Version?" The blue-eyed Naruto asked only to provoke laughter from the other one.

"That's easy, you are weak. You had to hide who you are just because of those stupid villagers. Then you even defend those two imbeciles' excuses of teammates, letting yourself nearly be killed by that snake. And for what? Rebuilding a dead clan? Holding onto the hope of Uzushio being raised to its former glory before the great villages come again to destroy it? You are alone, weak, beaten, and on the brink of death. Let me take over and I will avenge us!"

Naruto had waited for the black-eyed copy of himself to finish his passionate rant.

"Well, and only because you give into the bloodlust you are the strong one now? I will not say you are completely wrong, as far as I see the things you spoke some truth here. But I slowly think that thinking in absolutes is just the wrong way to do things. I already killed many thugs in my life as you may have witnessed, and yeah I also hid my true strength from the villagers. I suppressed my anger for years, only expressing it against the most despicable excuses of men." Naruto made a short pause the other one was confused and the fox behind his bars had opened his eyes and was staring.

"But what you said about Uzu, you know you should really know me better. I may want to rebuild some of the buildings for my clan, but I am not inclined to repeat the failures of the past. I will do something completely different. I have read the old legends of our clan before even the villages existed, as the Biju roamed the nations unhindered. The legends speak of them as some kind of judge of character. When they witnessed a settlement commit serious crimes against humankind they wiped them out. The Uzumaki of old speak of whispers that they were regarded as the highest order of justice, and even had shrines in the parts of the world the respective beat roamed the most. Looking at you had given me the last part I needed to understand what my dream of peace needs to come true. Peace can't exist without destruction. Without light, shadows can't exist. Without death, one might not cherish life. I will free the Biju somehow, and give them a place to return to. Jinchuriki should not exist and never will be again if my plan works."

The two others in the seal with him were speechless for a moment even Kurama was at a loss for words to deal with the vision Naruto had revealed. He witnessed some of the things Naruto had tried to come up with in Fuinjutsu. Kurama could say that the boy was not lying and was enough of a genius to maybe even come up with something that would work. The century-old fox returned to working on the venom in Naruto's system, even watching his own chakra before injecting it to not irritate his system. It looked like his container could be the one his father had talked about. Kurama would not be the one to fault if he died, or was weak. No more, if Naruto could beat his darker side, Kurama would start changing the way he let his chakra leak into the body of his container.

"You are delusional. How should that even work, you just have a dream and a big mouth." was the answer of the Dark Naruto. "Look at you blabbering here like a fool. You could have started on your goal years ago. But no! Mr. Perfect had to play Ninja in the academy and now with his Genin team."

Naruto shook his head, materializing his sword in his right hand. "It seems, there is only one way to bring you back to me. Walk the path you prefer till I can reach you." With those words, he vanished in a Shunshin only for the two Narutos to clash midair. Swords crossed no more Words were spoken, both had fallen into the battle mode where words would not need to be spoken. After the sparks flew for some minutes where the movement of the two could only be described as faster than the eye could see they disengaged. Summoning Chains and reentering the battle while battling with some kind of extra arms in the form of the Uzumaki Bloodline ability. Nearly invisible blades of wind chakra collide in midair fighting for supremacy only to get swallowed by a fire dragon who collided with his water counterpart. Pillars of stone crashed against each other crumbling to rubble only to be grounded into small powder by a big sphere of blue chakra.

Outside, with Sasuke in the Forest of Death

Sasuke woke up with a groaning headache. He looked around for Orochimaru but he could not find a trace of the snake. He looked around looking at the body of his teammate bringing up the emotions of loss he looked for Sakura but could not find her. Sasuke did not notice that orange-reddish chakra was slowly working to close the wounds on Naruto's body as Sasuke was jumping with Naruto in his arms in the direction, where Team 7 had expected the tower and told the clone to go to. Thanks to a small seal each team member wore under their clothes that worked like a compass pointing to the next member by pulsing chakra in a certain type of way. So the troubled Uchiha was making his way where he was expecting Sakura on her own. Nearly missing the point where he passed a barrier seal border, he was even more surprised to see a Naruto clone tending to Sakura. Looking up at the seemingly lifeless body the clone gulped.

"Hello there, Sasuke, and thanks for bringing Boss along."

Letting Naruto fall to the soft forest ground, Sasuke looked spooked pointing at the clone.

"But If you are still, then he is…"

"Hey Careful with the Boss, Teme." The clone stopped looking at Sakura before he pulled out a bit of the salve he had put on Sakura's wound and smeared it on the slowly closing wound on Naruto's upper body.

"I thought he was. You know. Dead." Sasuke stumbled over his words sitting down slowly beside the still-sleeping Sakura.

"Nah. Boss is made out of hard stuff you know. I would have popped if he was dead. Without an anchor and such." After the clone was sure that the main body was cared for he looked at Ssauke and noticed the angry red seal on his neck. "Erm. Sasuke, did the snake bastard give you a hickey or something?"

"Huh? He bit me yes?" He tried to look at it but got his hand slapped away by the clone. Wo was inspecting it.

"Boss will have to have a look at it. As far as I can come up with, it will activate when you are angry or something similar. Whatever it is, if some pedo-snake bastard would have given it to me by biting, I would stay clear of it."

Sasuke nodded slowly before he looked at the clone letting his exhaustion shine through.

"How much chakra do you have left?"

"You took the pill in the fight, right? I should be good to go for the next four hours. So take a nap. I think the boss will not need more than four to five hours to be back to his cheery old self." A last nod from Sasuke before he took a much-needed nap.

In Naruto's Mindscape

Both Narutos looked at each other, bruises cuts, and sweat were clearly visible on both of them. The ground around them was charred and had craters in it four times the size of a normal human adult. The full-scale battle was slowly coming to an end with no clear winner. Both were panting but while the Dark Naruto was looking grim the blue-eyed one looked at his mirror image with a smile.

"Damn never had a good spar before should have come here sooner."

His counterpart looked flabbergasted both of them still panting for air.

"Pardon me, but what?"

"I should have come here sooner, listened to you, and not only heard you out when I cleansed the Red-Light District for example. You and I are one. I should never have started splitting us apart. We lie, we cheat, we steal and we kill. That is what Shinobi do. I think I got the message. What do you say other me? Let us start working together?"

He was holding out his fist for him to bump.

Slowly the Dark Version of Naruto made his way to the other. "Are you serious?"

After he got a nod the two bumped fists leading to the Yami Naruto slowly to dissolve.

"Curious. That you accepted your Darkness and not fought in into submission like I thought you dunderhead would have done."

The Kyuubi showed his face and Naruto made his way to the cage.

"It is like I said, I have to accept, that I have this Darkness inside of me. Each of us has this Darkness inside of us and without accepting we are just lying to ourselves."

The fox gave a short huff. "Wise words for such a short brat. I saved your body. But before you go back outside, we have to talk about something."

Naruto gulped based on the threatening tone the voice of the Biju got in the last sentences before he nodded.

Nighttime, Day 1-2 Chunin Competition

Sakura was slowly getting up. Looking around quickly and sighing seeing that there was no more Orochimaru and the situation was clearly different. Looking at the meditating clone beside a sleeping Naruto and Sasuke showed everything she needed to know at the moment after she checked both of them for injuries fining most of them nearly healed or mended was a good thing before she waited for the clone to open his eyes. "Hello Sakura, good to see you back under the living." The clone joked. "There are some signatures coming you may want to prepare for a fight I do have not much chakra left and my barrier is struggling with the wildlife so I won't be of any help."

"How are they?" she asked looking at her teammates.

"For the moment fine they should wake up in the next hours." The clone answered before giving her two signs for the number of enemies approaching, the expected time of arrival and the possible strength.

Giving him a nod the clone got back to meditation while Sakura stretched her muscles for a second. It did not take long before the three Sound Genin landed in front of their campsite.

"Oh look we got the weakest of them awake." The black-haired one with the spikey-black hair gleefully shouted. The Girl with them said nothing while the one with more bandages than skin just gave off a huff. "Shut up Zaku. Konoha Kunoichi, give us the Uchiha and we may let you live"

Sakura looked at the bandaged one before her mind started to go through tactics, she would have to go with shock tactics. She may be stronger than one or two of them but all three at once was hardly fair. Sakura could only hope that her teammates would wake up and help her. So she shunshined away only to appear in front of Kin. With a short "Sorry 'bout that" she summoned some of her improvised super-strength technique and punched her straight into the stomach. Sending her flying through two or three trees knocking her out. The two other sound ninjas had dodged away and were looking shocked for a second. Giving Sakura time to address them.

"Well, that makes one who is next?"

Shortly after that a fight started, at first it looked like Sakura had a chance, leading them astray with Genjutsu and striking out of the dark, but unfortunately that only lead to Dosu and Zaku using wide-area Ninjutsu. After some minutes Sakura looked worse for wear he clothes were ripped and just barely protected her modesty. She got Zaku and Dosu sometimes but as the two began to attack her in tandem with Sound and air she was quickly brought to her knees. Zaku stood before her and laughed.

"That's what you get if you try to play ninja with true ninja you stupid bitch."

He spat directly in her face, Sakura was disgusted and ashamed at the same time the clone had popped from a wide area Jutsu and her teammates had not woken up yet. She was frozen, she had trained hard after wave but, she was not prepared for this. She was humiliated. "Can I play with her before you kill that Uchiha thing Dosu?"

The bandaged ninja used his gruff voice. "Whatever but be sure that you bind her before you do something you saw how hard she can hit. By the way, we should look after Kin. Our master would be displeased if we lost her."

Zaku nodded pulling Sakura by her hair to a tree and kicking her in the rips for good measure. He forced her on her knees with the legs on the side of the tree before he bound her with ninja wire. Sakura whimpered she was beaten and now it would happen again as Naruto promised her if she did not find a way to be stronger. She had tried, trained hard, and even stopped her bad eating habits. Why, was she now punished for it? What had she done to provoke Kami's wrath? She tried to struggle in the binds but it was futile. She was slapped straight in the face. She would not scream. Sakura would not give that bastard the satisfaction of that. But in her mind, she screamed. She had failed her teammates. Closing her eyes she pressed her lips together earning another slap for that. Each slap brings her more and more to the point where her body just wanted to give in to the demand that was screamed at her face to open her mouth. Sakura repeated it for herself each and every second, she would stay strong like her teammates. She would not give up like Naruto. She would get her revenge on those Sound Bastards that had wronged her like Sasuke. Sakura waited for the next slap, but that slap never came. Slowly opening her eyes, the young Kunoichi looked at Zaku whose arm was held back by Sasuke the face full of black markings.

"What do you think you are doing?" His voice was much deeper now as he bend Zaku's arms backward getting a painful cry out of the sound ninja. "I will rip your arms out you know. Slowly. I will enjoy it to hear the joints popping" That was enough for Dosu to help his teammate after putting the third team member he had looked for at a tree. Quickly unleashing the soundwaves got screams of pain from his teammate and Sakura and maniacal laughs out of Sasuke. "Forget about you for a second mummy, give me a second I will be with you shortly." The Uchiha had a maniacal voice through and through now. Sounding that he snapped before the next thing all in the clearing could hear was the sound of joints popping out of their sockets and a screaming Zaku who had fallen on his knees. Throwing a Kunai cut Sakura free before he rushed at Dosu who tried to hold him away with his sound-based Jutsu. Sakura was slowly standing up, Kunai in her right hand. With a red face from all those slaps the Pinkette made her way to the wailing Zaku whose arms still hung lifeless at his sides. She kicked him so she was laying on his back before she stepped on one of his shoulders getting another scream.

Slowly she was pinning him down the Kunai at the ready she sat on his chest and knees pinning down his arms painfully. "You know, I should thank you for giving me this opportunity." She said coldly. Zaku was whimpering now, he could not even answer thanks to the constant pressure on his dislocated shoulder joints. Sakura looked him straight in the eyes before she used the ring of the Kunai to knock him on the forehead protector getting his eyes open before she sunk the knife into his throat. Looking at the blood flooding out of him quickly. She slowly stood up getting away before Sakura had to empty her stomach violently falling to her knees again. A gentle hold on her head let her turn her head to see a smiling Naruto.

"Let it all out Sakura, the first one you do out of cold blood is the worst." That led to some more puking. As she finished and rinsed her mouth with some water Naruto provided her she looked at an again sleeping Sasuke.

"What happened to him?" Sakura was asking slowly looking at the blonde teammate that had to scratch the back of his head.

"Yeah about, that. He got a hickey from the Pedo-Hebi-Teme. That acted up and I had to seal that before it could act up even more. Temporary measure. But everything I can do for the moment. You okay?"

Sakura slowly nodded. "I think I manage. But you knocked him out you carry him." The Pinkette tried to sound assertive but the exhaustion just bled through.

Naruto chuckled a bit. "No Worries Sakura." Summoning two clones one picking up Sasuke, the other Sakura before they took in the direction of the tower.

Somewhere else in the Forest of Death

Kabuto was kneeling before Orochimaru.

"We have to be careful Kabuto. I may have killed the Kyubbi brat. We still wait for Team Dosu. I am most displeased." Looking at his master venting he stayed with his mouth shut.

"How are the teams?"

Kabuto looked up. "Well, it seems not only my team but some others hunted most of them down. The Sand Jinchurikii stilled his bloodlust on most of them and before your battle with the Kyuubi, I watched teams of his clones doing the same."

The Snake nodded. "I only want the rookies in the next round. Them and the Suna team. Make it happen. You may even want to injure one of them so there will not be Prelims. I can't stay here for much longer."

Kabuto nodded. "It will be as you ordered Orochimaru-Sama" The snake gave a last nod before he merged with the ground. Kabuto quickly shunshined to his team relaying the orders. It took some hours and even days for Team Kabuto to make sure that everything happened as it should. The spy kept count of every Team that would have to be in and around the tower. As his snakes noticed that he may too put down one more rookie in some non-lethal way he used a poisoned dart on the Mini Me of Might Guy. Maybe it was some kind of retribution from getting woken up to screams of youth too often. He did not even care if the Mini Me would survive. Even if he used non-lethal venom, sometimes accidents could happen. He needed him out of the competition so he exactly did that.
