You know, perhaps when you were young, or a teenage boy, you had dreams. Of what attending a girl's sleepover would be like. I had watched several 'anime' with that premise, and at one point I might have been excited by that idea.
Let me tell you- what it is is a big letdown, if my experience was anything to go by.
First off was Filo- she was apparently used to sleeping in a bed shaped like a car, and after some coaxing she finally fell asleep. Melty had actually brought a portable bed for herself, and I offered Raphtalia my bed while I took out a futon.
That left Eclair, who actually chose to string up a hammock between my staircase poll and the door hinge- no idea how she managed to do that, but it worked.
I thought that the noise Melty and Filo were making would make it hard to sleep, but I guess I was just so tired I dozed off and likely would've missed first and second period had it not been for Eclair and Raphtalia waking me up.
At first, as I opened my eyes, I thought that there were few better sights to wake up to, but then as the two of them got a good look at my face they started giggling.
"Eh? What's so funny?" I asked.
Both of them pointedly said "Nothing!" but when I looked in the bathroom mirror, I saw that Filo had drawn scribbles all over my face. It was only the fact that I had to get to law school ASAP that prevented me from finally catching her and giving her a good spanking- that and Melty trying to cover for her.
Speaking of the bathroom, that was another whole ordeal. It was a huge mess in the morning, and everyone else took far too long inside it.
As a matter of fact, I would've still ended up late for law school if it wasn't for the fact that Melty and Eclair dropped me off along with them in her limo- if there was one good thing that had come out of this whole ordeal, it was that.
I arrived to law school looking grumpier than usual, and found that I couldn't really concentrate on any of the lectures. This wasn't too far from my baseline performance, but the issue was that I also felt like I was going to fall asleep at any moment.
As a matter of fact, I did fall asleep during lunch, and only woke up to when Melty and Eclair dropped by. Melty was also yawning, though I had a feeling she wasn't as tired as me.
"Hey- I have a question," I said.
"Yeah?"
"How come Eclair wasn't with you the first time you came here?"
"Ah, that," Melty said, sounding slightly embarrassed. "Well, I wanted to experience what real college life is like! So, I didn't want someone walking behind me- and Mother was fine with that but..."
"Melty's father found out," Eclair said. "And insisted I tag along."
"Yeah," Melty said, sounding none too happy about it.
Today, rather than a lunchbox, she had also bought something from the cafeteria like I had.
"Hmm?" Melty muttered as she whipped out her phone. It wasn't a kid phone by the way- I was pretty sure that was the latest smartphone model, in other words, two models more current that the one I was using. "Eh!? Naofumi, check this out!"
Melty showed me a screen of Filo's Fanbase Twitter page (yeah, figures she would be following that) and for a second I didn't realize what I was seeing when my eyes widened- it was a picture of Filo and Raphtalia together, on stream.
"Hey!" Melty groaned as I took the phone from her hand, and checked where the photo was from- it was from a video game site, and it was an article- written about Raphtalia and Filo!
Well, the article was mainly about female gamers in gaming- and seemed to want to talk about Eryuentiu Online given that it was a mostly male-focused gaming sphere. But, the article went on and on about how the two of them had appeared on stream, as well as a little portion about who Filo was.
The article really wasn't that popular, and I honestly didn't even consider video game journalism to be real 'journalism' by any stretch, but as I checked Raphtalia's TwitchTube stats, I saw that after the article was published, we certainly were getting more attention, and her stream with Filo had gotten quadruple the number of views it had earlier. It looked like some interested people were checking her out.
"Well, this is nice," I said, quite pleased with myself. Turns out Filo had been helpful in some way.
"So, about this 'streaming' business, Mr. Naofumi- how'd you get into it?" Eclair asked. I noticed that she wasn't eating at all, though at that point I didn't care much. I grabbed an espresso from the vending machine and then answered.
"Well, it actually started out as a school project," I told her.
"For school?"
"Well, a bit more complicated than that," I told her. "You see, during my first semester of law school, there was this professor who was teaching us how to write legal letters as writing practice, and he always wanted them folded a very special way. And the thing is, you could remember how to do it once, but you wouldn't be able to remember how to do it once you got home. And so, one day, when I saw how it was done I went home and had my brother shoot a video of me doing it the way that he liked, and when the others in my class couldn't figure out how to do it... I posted it online. It was a big hit... with my classmates that is... and I wanted to do more. Eryuentiu Online was really popular and I was good at it, so I decided to start with that."
"Oh," Melty said. "So how come you stopped and do this weird thing with Raphtalia?"
I looked at my food and didn't answer. Eclair knew why- but I didn't know how to explain that to Melty. And honestly, I didn't want to either.
"Ah, Melty-sama, I think we've bothered Mr. Naofumi enough," Eclair said.
I took the time to text Raphtalia regarding how things were going at home, and she said that everything was alright. Well, that was good.
As the final class ended, Melty and Eclair offered to drop me at my house- that's what I thought initially, but I realized that Melty probably just wanted to visit Filo again.
