Chapter Twenty-Four
It has been quite a few days since Grom. Principal Bump suggested the girls rest those days while he attended to certain things, like the upcoming grudgby season and Boscha. Danielle and Luz enjoyed the little down time. Though an annual field trip to the Emperor's Castle was coming up that they wanted to attend. And since that day finally came, Hooty was dealing with whatever Coven Scouts were trying to capture Eda, meaning Lilith was there as well.
"Enjoying the show," said Danielle, entering the living room. "I can hear it from here."
"Yup," said Eda, before grabbing a cup of tea. "Hooty! Ah, you're a thorn in my side. But you always dig your way into my heart."
"Ooh, magic 'sghetti," said Luz, intrigued by what's in the cauldron.
"Don't call it that," said Danielle, plopping on the couch. "It's spaghetti. Don't butcher the Italian language in front of me."
"Alright, geesh," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Hey! That 'sghetti… spaghetti is Witch's Wool," said Eda, slapping Luz's hand with a spoon. "It repels powerful spells. Every witch worth their salt has a cloak made from this stuff."
"I'm worth salt... I want cloak!" said Luz, grabbing the cauldron only for Eda to pull her away.
"Sadly, I can't wear that," said Danielle, looking at the witch's wool.
"Easy, kid! With the Emperor's goons at my doorstep, I need this for protection," said Eda, moving the cauldron on top of a chest. "They have really stepped up their attacks lately."
"They really have," said Danielle, looking out the window before thinking. "What is Belos planning?"
"I think I finally understand why the Emperor wants you so badly," said Luz, before joking. "He's got the hots for you, doesn't he?"
"I did not need that image in my head," said Danielle, pulling a pillow close to her face.
"Uh, but no. Emperor Belos wants to control all wild magic through his coven system," said Eda, looking at Danielle and Luz. "He ordered my capture years ago because I refuse to fall in line."
"And he won't stop until he's got you..." said Luz, her head drooping.
"We're not going to let that happen," said Danielle, getting up and pulling Luz towards her. "He's up against two modern day teens who are otakus. Our imagination is at full force here. But yeah, I'm also worried."
"Awww, don't sound so worried. I'm a master escape artist. The only thing that can slow me down is my curse, and that hasn't bothered me for weeks!" said Eda, before feathers started popping out of her body. "Uh oh..."
"I don't think so," said Danielle, grabbing an elixir and stuffing it down the Owl Beast's mouth, only to see it not working. "What the…? Luz, King, grab more elixirs!"
"Weh?" said King, poking his head in the room and seeing the Owl Beast. "Ah!"
"Wha-aah!" screamed Luz, dodging the Owl Beast alongside Danielle.
"The Owl Beast hates those elixirs," said Danielle, running alongside Luz. "I'll grab and mold the elixir into various small animals. Think you can…"
"Cover it with an illusion to make it look like real animals," said Luz, finishing Danielle's thoughts. "Got it."
And that's what Danielle and Luz did. After getting to Eda's stash and King holding quite a few open elixirs, Danielle had the elixir flow out and molded it into a ton of various small animals. Luz used quite a few Illusion Glyphs to make them look real instead of looking like molded elixirs. Having the Elixir Animals fly and scurry about, the Owl Beast watches it intently… and for some odd reason playfully messed around with the Elixir Animals before gulping them down. It ended up having the girls and King laughing by the time the Owl Beast went back to being Eda. Danielle and Luz end up placing Eda in her nest afterwards before stashing the empty elixir bottles away.
"Oh," said Eda, coming to before seeing all the empty potion bottles. "Whew! Oh, thanks for this! And those..."
"Hey, your gem!" said Luz, staring at Eda's gem. "It's still dark!"
"I was wondering why you were wearing that scarf," said Danielle, seeing the scarf fall off, revealing Eda's gem was half black. "You were hiding the fact that your curse has been getting worse."
"Ugh... you're right," said Eda, gesturing to her gem. "It's taking more elixir to turn me back and more magic to keep the curse from rearing its feathery head."
"What happens if you use your magic up?" asked Luz, staring at Eda, concerned. "Do you... do you die?"
"No! Jeez, you're morbid. I just kinda sorta, turn into the Owl Beast... forever," said Eda, laughing sarcastically. "Ahhh, it's a fate much worse than death if you think about it."
"No no no-no-no," said Danielle, frantic. "We can't let that happen."
"We'll do something about it," said Luz, staring at Eda. "We'll find a cure and then…"
"Hey, don't worry. I just have to limit my magic use a little," said Eda, grabbing a hold of the girl's shoulders before using her fingers to pull Danielle's and Luz's lips into a smile. "Ah! There's the Danielle and Luz I know!"
"Eda…" said Danielle, staring at Eda concerned.
"Ugh. Go on. Do the parallel arm thing..." said Eda, letting Danielle and Luz hug her.
"King demands huggies too!" said King, jumping in and hugging Eda's leg.
"Okay!" said Eda, trying to walk all the way down to the kitchen. "It's... time... for... school!"
"I'm not letting go," said Danielle, gripping Eda harder. "I don't want to let go."
"Luz, tickle her free," said Eda, staring at Luz.
"Got it," said Luz, before tickling Danielle as Eda tried to pull her off.
"Stop… it! I'm… not… hahaha… letting…" said Danielle, as Eda finally got her off. "Eda."
"Get rest! Drink lots of water!" said Luz, holding Danielle back. "Stay out of the sun! Lift with your knees, not your…"
"Ah, what good kids! So considerate. They deserve something nice," said Eda, reentering the living room and taking an Illusion Glyph off a second cauldron. "And I think I know what!"
Walking towards Hexside, Danielle and Luz scramble as fast away when they notice Hooty having a tea party with beaten up scouts. Students were already boarding the bus for the annual field trip.
"Hey guys," said Danielle, gaining their attention.
"Danielle, Luz, you ready for the field trip of a lifetime to the one, the only, Emperor's Castle!" said Gus, holding a book up.
"Right. I was actually gonna stay behind," said Luz, looking at Willow, Amity and Gus. "I don't like the way they treat Eda."
"Same here," said Danielle, deeply sighing. "But a trip to the Emperor's Castle may cheer us up. I happen to like history and historical sites."
"Then you'll like all the cool stuff!" said Gus, shoving the book towards Danielle.
"Well, these are interesting," said Danielle, looking at each artifact before seeing a specific one. "Healing Hat, cure all diseases and heal all curses! This may be…"
"You two are thinking of Eda, aren't you?" asked Amity, looking at Luz and Danielle. "And her curse."
"Exactly," said Danielle, looking at Amity.
"She's done so much for us," said Luz, looking at everyone. "We wanna do something for her."
"You two will figure it out," said Amity, gearing Luz and Danielle to the dragon bus. "You two always do."
"Yeah," said Danielle, sitting down before taking out a notepad alongside Luz and writing stuff down. "We'll figure it out."
"No roughhousing!" said Principal Bump, after the dragon bus had left Hexside and nearing the Emperor's Castle. "Do not make me turn this carriage around!"
"Hey, Danielle!" said Willow, gaining Danielle's and Luz's attention. "Hey, Luz!"
"Hmm, yeah Willow," said Danielle and Luz, closing their notepads and looking at Willow. "What is it?"
"Weird how you two are in sync sometimes," said Gus, staring at Danielle and Luz.
"I'm used to it," said Danielle, before thinking. "Ming and Ling use to talk like that."
"I was just saying we were getting close to the castle," said Willow, looking at Danielle and Luz before pointing at the Emperor's Castle which was within view. "Emperor Belos built it as a symbol of unity. Before he came to power, folks were doing magic all wrong. He taught us that the only way to respect what the Titan gave us is through joining covens."
"I finally get to see the Emperor's Castle!" said Amity, squealing in joy.
"So, Willow... would you say this Belos guy is like, powerful?" asked Luz, looking at Willow.
"No offense to Eda, but the Emperor is the most skilled witch that's ever lived," replied Willow, looking at Luz. "He can even talk to the Titan."
"My dad stopped talking to him hundreds of years ago."
"King?!" thought Danielle, startled. "Wait… his dad? Is King a…"
"Uh, Danielle…" said Luz, waving her hand in front of Danielle. "You there?"
"I think a mind dive into my mind is necessary soon," said Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Oooo," said Luz, intrigued as the dragon bus landed and everyone was getting off.
"Luz," said Danielle, eyeing Luz before seeing the extended bridge. "Oh no, the damn bridge is… great, childhood fear slowly resurfacing."
"Danielle… grip… too tight…" said Luz, as Danielle clung to her. "Let… go…"
"Now, the Emperor's assistant will be your tour guide," said Principal Bump, looking at the students. "Please don't make me regret taking you here."
"What childhood fear?" asked Amity, looking at Danielle.
"We have something called an escalator back home," replied Danielle, gripping Luz hard. "I was pretty young when seeing an escalator and got pretty scared. It flares up when I actually notice… every single time. Ugh, get me off this thing."
"Get… Danielle… off… me!" said Luz, as Amity and Willow tried to pry Danielle off with little success.
"Children of Hexside, Emperor Belos welcomes you to his castle. We're honored by visits from students," said Kikimora, standing before the students. "You'll soon be a part of a coven, some lucky few may even find their home here, in the mighty Emperor's Coven!"
"Finally… air!" said Luz, as they walked into the castle.
"Scusa," said Danielle, slightly blushing in embarrassment.
"You... are the future of the Isles! My job is to teach you its past," said Kikimora, ushering the students to follow her in to the Emperor's Castle. "Today, the Isles are a place of peace and prosperity. But that wasn't always the case. Up until 50 years ago, witches and demons practiced wild magic during what we called the Savage Ages. Witches had access to corrupt knowledge, and that dishonored the Titan."
"Well, there is that saying," thought Danielle, looking at the various murals as she walks past them. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
"You have no idea."
"That was, until our great Emperor ascended to the throne, and taught witches how to use magic properly," said Kikimora, gesturing to another mural. "Our next stop is the Emperor's personal collection of relics."
"Oh! Luz, Danielle, you'll like this. It's where…" said Willow, only to see Luz trying to open a vent. "Huh?"
"Heh... Uh, love me a properly ventilated castle!" said Luz, seeing Amity, Willow, and Gus look at her.
"We'll figure another way," said Danielle, pulling Luz away from the vent. "I'm not crawling in a tight enclosed place."
"You just don't want to get dirty," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"I have no problem getting dirty," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "I don't want to hyperventilate."
"Oh, you-you don't deal with enclosed places that well, do you?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle. "Is that why you prefer the bedroom door open?"
"Kinda," replied Danielle, as they walked into the relic room with everyone. "Ancient artefacts! No, keep it together. Eee, so much history."
"The Relic Room. These items are reminders of our great Emperor's overwhelming power," said Kikimora, walking in the room and passing the relics. "From the curious and mighty."
"Oooh," said Gus, looking at a specific relic.
"To the very handy," said Kikimora, passing another relic.
"Oh, I could grow such beautiful things with that," said Willow, eyeing the relic.
"And even, the most valuable," said Kikimora, passing the Healing Hat.
"Eda," said Danielle and Luz, eyeing the healing hat before Amity grabbed their hands and pulled them away.
"Come along, children," said Kikimora, gaining the students attention as they walk out of the room and down the hall. "Here at the Emperor's Coven, we require members with sophistication, elegance, and grace."
"Uh oh," thought Danielle, seeing a disheveled Lilith enter before heading around the corner and whispering in Luz's ear. "Someone must not have liked Hooty's tea party."
"Pfft," said Luz, covering her mouth as she tried to contain her laugh.
"Ah! Make way for Miss Lilith Clawthorne, students," said Kikimora, backing up with the students. "Yes, and if I'm not mistaken, she's on her way to see the emperor himself. Let's all wish her luck!"
"Good luck, Miss Lilith!" said the Students, as Lilith walks pass them.
"Thank you, students," said Lilith, before walking away. "Good luck with puberty."
"This way, children," said Kikimora, walking down the hall with the students behind her.
"Okay, initiate plan," thought Danielle, running down the hall with Luz after Lilith. "Get the Emperor to listen to us."
Tailing Lilith through the halls, Danielle and Luz keep their distance. Seeing Lilith enter what looked to be the throne room, Danielle and Luz creep towards the door and look through the locks. Spotting what looked to be Emperor Belos, Danielle and Luz eye him suspiciously.
"I am at your service, Emperor Belos," said Lilith, making eye contact with Emperor Belos.
"Just a moment, Lilith," said Emperor Belos, grabbing a dormant palisman and breaking it before pouring its essence in the eyehole of his mask. "Ah, that's better."
"That… that poor palisman," thought Danielle, gasping as she covers her mouth alongside Luz as they runs away down the halls silently before looking out a window. "Looks like everyone is leaving. Wait… that's… Hey-hey guys, what's up?"
"Were you planning on taking the Healing Hat?" asked Amity, looking at Luz and Danielle.
"No, we were going to talk to Emperor Belos first," replied Danielle, looking at Amity, Willow and Gus. "But…"
"But what?" said Amity, crossing her arms over her chest.
"He offed a palisman," said Luz, remembering the scene vividly. "It was horrible."
"Why would he…" said Willow, before inhaling. "Danielle, Luz, no matter what, you can't steal this hat."
"I wasn't," said Danielle, holding her arms close. "Thou shall not steal."
"But, you can borrow it!" said Gus, stepping in front of Willow.
"That's no different from stealing Gus," said Danielle, looking at Gus.
"Well, we're going to help," said Amity, looking at Luz and Danielle.
"Huh?" said Danielle, looking at them. "Okay, I'm not a fan of this but how bout a heist?"
"Eda is rubbing off on you," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "But yeah, it's heist time."
It actually took a bit of time to reach the relic room. Bypassing guards was tricking with all five of them but they were able to do it. Once back at the relic room, everyone looks around at the relics of old.
"Healing Hat. Mmm! You're Eda's last hope," said Luz, grabbing the healing hat alongside Danielle. "I-I can feel it! I can feel the magic flowing! Danielle, are you…"
"It just hit something inside me," said Danielle, gripping her chest.
"Ooo, not good," said Luz, supporting Danielle. "Now we can cure Eda and get this hat back before anyone knows it's gone."
"I will know," said Emperor Belos, his voice echoing in the room.
"Not good," said Danielle, gripping her bag as barricades block the exits.
"I'm outside those doors. Prepare for a fight."
"Stand back!" said Willow, grabbing the relic representing the Plant Coven and putting it on before sending a giant buff tree at the doors.
"Danielle, what are you…" said Luz, seeing Danielle's eyes glow as Lilith enters the relic room. "Oh…"
"Why, if it isn't Eda's human and half human pets," said Lilith, pulling Luz's hood down with her palisman. "How perfect. Aren't I lucky to find you two here."
"Stay away! If you touch us, Eda will come after you so fast…" said Luz, as Lilith teleports in front of her.
"That's the plan," said Lilith, only to be blasted back by Danielle.
"We're not going down without a fight," said Danielle, glaring at Lilith.
Eyes ablaze, Danielle sends tendrils of water to lasso Lilith while Willow held her in place with vines from the Green Thumb Gauntlet. Lilith merely blasts them away as Luz blinds her with multiple Light Spheres as Amity conjures an abomination to attack Lilith. Lilith was able to recover in time to see two abominations attacking her, with the second abomination an illusion courtesy of Gus. Dodging and slashing the abominations to pieces, Lilith gets encased in a water bubble courtesy of Danielle.
"Water Prison," said Danielle, only for Lilith to teleport out. "What?"
"Danielle! Behind you!" shouted Luz, as Lilith blasts Danielle towards her.
"That's quite enough," said Lilith, as she encases the girls in magic binds.
"Let them go," shouted Amity, conjuring abomination goo around her fists.
"I'd head home Amity," said Lilith, eyeing Amity. "I'll be letting your parents know of what transpired here."
"You leave Amity…" said Luz, only to be gagged.
"I'm sorry Luz, I'm sorry Danielle," said Amity, lowering her magic.
"Now, that doesn't belong to you," said Lilith, taking the Healing Hat back.
"What? No, give that back," said Danielle, glaring at Lilith. "Just long enough to heal Eda then we'll return it. I promise."
"Huh. These decrepit relics are useless," said Lilith, placing the Healing Hat back. "You really should have taken my offer that day at the convention. You could have been farther along in your training."
"I already have enough on my plate," said Danielle, still glaring at Lilith. "Besides, it's more fun with Eda."
"If you wanna see your friend again, deliver this to Edalyn," said Lilith, having her palisman thrown at Willow and Gus which flies them away before looking at Amity. "Amity, go home."
"Yes, Head Witch," said Amity, leaving the relic room.
"Well, now that that is over," said Lilith, going over to the Oracle Sphere and another relic. "Let's see what I'm working with here."
"What are you…" said Danielle, only for an ethereal version of her and Luz to appear from the Oracle Sphere.
"Embrace your magical lineage," said the Ethereal Danielle, looking at Danielle. "Look to the stars."
"Embrace your unique path, Luz. Your glyphs, a primal magic, are your strength," said the Ethereal Luz, looking at Luz. "But remember, true power lies in your choices, your courage, and your authenticity. Trust in yourself, you have the potential to change the Boiling Isles."
"That was… interesting," said Lilith, before pointing the other relic at Danielle. "Now let's see what the Revealing Glass has to show. Are you more than just a…"
Looking at the reflection on the Illusion's Coven relic, Lilith sees what Danielle truly is. Silvery white hair, light purplish pink eyes. Markings adorning all over her body. Attire fitting of royal lineage. Power radiating from her in waves. Dropping the relic, Lilith wonders what she just saw. Picking the relic back up and looking back and forth with it and Luz, Lilith points the relic towards Luz. And much like Danielle, Lilith was astounded with what she saw. Luz, looking much like a she was fused with a Titan, appeared in the reflection, radiating power much like Danielle but to a lesser extent. Placing the relics back, Lilith teleports herself and the girls to a different part of the castle.
"Aw man, teleporting is not good on the stomach," said Danielle, covering her mouth.
"Don't…" said Luz, as Danielle recovered.
"It's rough at the beginning but after a while you get use to it unless you have a weak stomach," said Lilith, conjuring a bubble-like barrier around Danielle and Luz before looking away. "Now stay put."
"Not likely," said Luz, as she saw Danielle put inline skates on.
"Let's get out of here," said Danielle, grabbing a Light Glyph and parting the barrier to slip out with Luz.
"What was that squeak?" asked Lilith, before being blinded by a light spell. "Aah! What the…? Get back here! How are they so fast all of a sudden?"
Turns out Danielle was carrying Luz piggyback style as she skated down the halls. Luz was slightly screaming as Danielle skated down some rails. Or even jumped to grab hold of a banner to slide down. Seeing a door, Danielle enters before dropping Luz.
"Scream my ear off, why don'tcha," said Danielle, rubbing her ears.
"Well, I wouldn't have if you didn't skate so fast that I could literally fall off," said Luz, standing up and looking at Danielle. "Did you set off a Wind Glyph to make yourself faster?"
"No!" replied Danielle, slightly blushing before seeing a shadow creep by. "Huh?"
"New friends!" said Collector, appearing before Danielle and Luz. "You're not suppose to be here."
"You're… you're…" said Danielle, looking at Collector.
"Danielle," said Luz, staring at Danielle.
"Taki słodki!" said Danielle, starry eyed as she tries to hug Collector only to go through him and fall to the floor. "Aah! Oomph! Right, shadow, untouchable."
"I could have told you that," said the Shadow Child, looking at Danielle.
"Hahaha," laughed Luz, looking at Danielle. "Oh man, Danielle. You should have… ow!"
"Not funny," said Danielle, kicking Luz's leg before standing up. "But I'm gonna get these cuddles in one way or another. Now, come here, ty mały słodziaku."
"What? No, get away," said Collector, being chased around the room. "I don't like this game."
"Run all you want," said Danielle, as Collector hid behind Luz. "Luz, move."
"Aren't you…" said Luz, only to be picked up by Danielle. "Whoa!"
"No way!" said Collector, looking at Danielle holding Luz up.
"Found ya," said Danielle, lightly tossing Luz to the side and beginning the chase anew.
"Uh-uh," said Collector, sinking into a unique tablet. "Get can't me now. Can't believe I'm using this as a safe place right now."
"Can't hide forever! Have to come out eventually," said Danielle, as the tablet sparked. "What the? Ow ow ow-ow-ow! Aaah!"
"Ow," said Luz, as Danielle was blasted into her. "What just happened?"
"Luz, kindly remove your hands," said Danielle, blushing.
"Huh… eep!" said Luz, seeing where her hands landed.
"Save that for Amity," said Danielle, staring at Luz as they stood up.
"Wait…" said Collector, really looking at Danielle as he came out of the tablet. "Danielle?"
"Huh?" said Danielle, confused. "How'd you…"
"Oh, you must have meet when Danielle was regressed to a little cutie," said Luz, lightly poking Danielle's cheek only for Danielle to bend it away. "Ow-ow-ow! Sheesh."
"Regressed? Oh, now I remember," said Collector, looking at Danielle. "We talked a lot that day."
"Yeah, those days are pretty fuzzy," said Danielle, only to see that her hands and arms were shadow like.
"Don't scream, don't scream," said Luz, seeing Danielle stare at her arms and hands. "You'll give out our location."
"No worries," said Danielle, nervously chuckling. "I screamed on the inside."
"Ya think!"
"Weird," said Luz, staring and poking at Danielle's arms. "Is it not solid? Aah!"
"Guess not," said Danielle, sticking her hand through Luz and holding back a laugh.
"That is so weird," said Luz, as Danielle pulled her hand back. "I wonder…"
"Luz, don't…" said Danielle, as Luz poked and handled the tablet. "Okay, that's not fair."
"The tablet is basically Titan Magic," said Collector, staring at Danielle's arms. "And members of my race really can't touch it… hmmm…"
"I'm witch on my mom's side and human on my dad's side," said Danielle, looking at Collector.
"Half witch?!" thought Collector, staring at Danielle. "Someone is obviously lying to her. At least I know now that her mom is a celestial but who?"
"We've got to get out of here before Lilith finds us," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"You're right," said Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Wait, you're leaving?" said Collector, looking at Danielle and Luz. "But… don't you wanna play?"
"Luz, we can't leave him," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "It wouldn't feel right."
"Point taken," said Luz, grabbing the tablet. "You're coming with."
"Whoa... wait," said Collector, as the tablet was placed in Danielle's bag.
"Don't worry, it will only be for a bit, okay," said Danielle, rubbing the top of Collector's head.
"Okay, I don't like it…" said Collector, before leaning into Danielle's touch. "Odd, I can feel your touch. It's… nice."
"What a strong brave boy you are," said Danielle, rubbing Collector's cheek before putting the flap completely over.
"Strong… brave…" thought Collector, before smiling. "I made the right decision. I like them."
"Now, let's get going," said Luz, before being bound together with Danielle only to blush when their lips met.
"I finally find…" said Lilith, only to see Danielle and Luz in their current predicament. "Oh my."
"Blech… no… gross," said Danielle, trying to wipe her lips on her shoulders.
"That didn't happen," said Luz, wiping her own lips on her shoulders. "Blech! You got that nasty yuzu lip gloss on."
"You!" said Danielle, glaring at Lilith.
"Let's…uh… greet Edalyn," said Lilith, trying to ignore the glares the girls gave her before teleporting to the entrance of the castle.
"We have got to get loose," said Luz, struggling in the binds. "Before they capture Eda."
"Can you reach your glyphs?" asked Danielle, trying to reach her bag to no avail.
"No," replied Luz, looking at Danielle. "We're bound too tight."
"Your breath stinks of apple blood," said Danielle, crinkling her nose. "Your just as bad as Eda right there."
"I can't help it," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "It's so good. You could however cut back on the milk Kittielle."
"Don't call me that," said Danielle, blushing. "Sheesh! Also, keep those kisses for Amity."
"Wha… I…that is…" said Luz, stuttering.
"Oh please, I see how you look at her and vice versa," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "You two obviously like each other."
"Great, Eda's here," said Luz, hearing the battle outside before the bubble was pulled onto the bridge.
"Where are they?" asked Eda, flying around Lilith.
"Easy now," said Lilith, magicking Danielle and Luz closer so Eda could see. "The human and half witch are safe."
"Eda!" shouted Luz, looking at Eda.
"We're sorry!" shouted Danielle, looking at Eda. "We can explain!"
"You can have them back, provided you do as I say," said Lilith, walking in front of Danielle and Luz. "Renounce your wild ways and join the Emperor's Coven. He can help heal your curse!"
"Eda, we have to do something."

"Don't believe everything that bonehead tells you," said Eda, glaring at Lilith. "He doesn't want to heal me, he wants to control me!"
"Then I will take you in by force," said Lilith, spinning her staff.
"You've always looked down on me because I'm wild, but fortunately, that just made me work harder than you," said Eda, landing on the bridge.
"We've got to get loose before things get out of hand," said Danielle, struggling in their binds.
"Can't you just like, I don't know," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Pulse your magic?"
"I… uh… I don't know," said Danielle, a little frantic. "I've never tried that."
"First time for everything," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Try it."
"Um…okay… let's just…" said Danielle, trying to concentrate as Lilith sent the bubble flying from a blast.
"Luz! Danielle!" said Eda, redirecting the boards of the bridge to keep the girls from falling.
"Not good," thought Luz, seeing a trickle of blood coming from Danielle's mouth. "Danielle… aah!"
"… I think… I did… it," said Danielle, as the bubble barrier burst from her magic pulse, teetering.
"Danielle!" said Luz, grabbing Danielle's hand before she fell off the bridge before Lilith magicked them before Eda. "Whoa!"
"Stop hiding behind the girls, you coward!" said Eda, panting.
"It's sad to see you slowing down sister," said Lilith, panting. "Tell me, is it the curse?"
"Eda! Your gem!" said Luz, seeing Eda's gem darken more.
"Eda!" said Danielle, before thinking. "I got to think of something. Anything!"
"Maybe it is the curse," said Eda, spinning her staff and summoning a dozen rings of magic. "But then how pathetic are you, that you can't best me at my worst?!"
"The hole! It's getting bigger!"
"Maybe you are stronger than me, but that made me work smarter!" said Lilith, a barrier around herself to protect against Eda's onslaught. "I became smart, crafty!"
"A lapdog for a tyrant!" shouted Eda, glaring at Lilith.
"You always thought you were better than me, that I could never beat you in anything!" said Lilith, glaring at Eda.
"I am better than you!" said Eda, staring at Lilith.
"Go! Go!"
"Then why were you so easy to curse?!" shouted Lilith, only for a bright light from Danielle to encase the bridge.
After the light had settled, and their eyes adjusted, did Eda and Lilith stand stunned at the sight before them. An ethereal Eda and Lilith stood before them, arms spread to stop the fight.
"Whoa," said Luz, staring at the ethereal Eda and Lilith.
"What the…" said Eda, staring at the ethereal Lilith.
"What's going on?" asked Lilith, staring at the ethereal Eda.
"That's enough," said the Ethereal Eda, staring at Lilith. "You'll only hurt yourself more."
"We need to prepare for a bigger threat," said the Ethereal Lilith, staring at Eda. "But I am so so sorry for what I have done."
"I can not!" shouted Lilith, magicking the girls over the bridge and sending them falling. "I have to!"
"Danielle! Luz!" shouted Eda, stopping the girls from falling further with her magic.
"You know not what you done," said the Ethereal Lilith, staring at Lilith.
"Whoa, wait, stop!" shouted Danielle, as Lilith pushed her and Luz closer to a spike before feeling Eda's magic. "Eda, don't!"
"Eda, stop!" said Luz, staring at Eda. "You'll run out of magic!"
"It's my power, kid," said Eda, straining. "And before you two showed up, I spent my whole life wasting it."
"Eda, no, no, no!" said Luz, seeing Eda's gem darken more.
"Please, don't," said Danielle, tears forming in her eyes as the flap of her bag opens some.
"Huh…" thought Collector, peering from the bag. "What's going on?"
"Alright, kid. Listen to me," said Eda, the curse taking over. "I'm going away, and I don't know if I can bounce back this time. Watch over King. Remember to feed Hooty."
"Please, no," said Danielle and Luz, staring at Eda.
"And Danielle, Luz, thank you for being in my life," said Eda, before the curse finally took control.
"Don't leave us!" shouted Danielle, Eda's magic dissipating before a sparkly wind from her necklace carried her and Luz up to the bridge with Owlbert fluttering nearby. "Eda."
"… … …" thought Collector, silently gasping upon hearing those words.
"Eda," said Luz, checking on Eda alongside Danielle.
Eda rolls over and screams, her voice overlapping with the Owl Beast's. She slams a hand to the bridge, and the Owl Beast stands. It advances on Danielle and Luz, as Danielle stands firm with outstretched hands. The Owl Beast tries to pounce, as Danielle and Luz cringe, but the impact never comes, Lilith binding the Owl Beast and dragging it halfway across the bridge with her staff.
"Come along, sister. Now we can let the healing begin," said Lilith, before Danielle attacked her with her light katana.
"How could you?" shouted Danielle, slashing erratically as her eyes glow a light purplish pink and her hair to shift to a silvery white. "She's your sister, damn it! Your sister!"
"You monster!" shouted Luz, jumping onto Lilith before being pulled off and tossed toward land.
"Leave, human!" said Lilith, magically pushing Danielle into Luz onto land before grabbing Owlbert. "Edalyn is finally with her family. Her real family. Go back to your world. This one is ours."
"But she's a part of our world!" shouted Danielle, standing up with Luz. "We screwed up big time."
"Danielle…" said Luz, seeing Danielle openly crying and sobbing. "Let's go."
Walking away from the castle, Danielle and Luz trek back to the Owl House. The ethereal Eda and Lilith silently fade but head towards their primary objective. Their actual selves in the castle, merging with them. Getting herself together for a bit, Danielle places Luz on her back and skates the rest of the way back to the Owl House. The sun is setting by the time Danielle and Luz arrive back, opening the front door.
"Danielle," said Hooty, seeing Danielle and Luz distraught. "Luz."
"Hoo-Hooty," said Danielle, placing Luz down before really seeing the living room, decorations on one side of the room with a layered cake and a present on the coffee table. "No way…"
"… …" said Luz, staring around the living room.
"The cake is me!" said King, popping out of the cake. "Hey, um, where's Eda?"
"We screwed up, that's what," said Danielle, breaking down alongside Luz. "Eda's been captured and it's all our fault."
"We're sorry you two," said Luz, as Hooty curled around her and Danielle.
"Oh right," said Danielle, laying one of the couch pillows flat before placing the tablet on it. "There you go."
"Alright!" shouted Collector, leaving the tablet. "Ooh, is there a party going on?"
"Danielle, Luz, who is this?" asked King, before hearing Collector gasp.
"You look like that bully who put me in here. No way, are you his little Titan baby?" asked Collector, swirling around King. "I've always wanted to play with you! But your dumb pops hid you. You can let me out."
"Wait… what? No," said King, clinging to Danielle's and Luz's leg. "I am the King of Demons, not some Titan. Danielle, Luz, tell him."
"Wait… is this…" said Danielle, grabbing a wrapped cloak alongside Luz. "This is…"
"Yeah, Eda hid the cauldron with sorcerer's silk with an Illusion Glyph," said King, looking at Danielle. "If you had saw, you would have put two and two together."
"So, it was for a surprise," said Luz, fingering the indigo cloak.
"Second best after witch's wool," said Hooty, before placing the cloaks around the girls.
"It's… it's beautiful," said Danielle, rubbing the teal fabric between her fingers before feeling her magic pulse within her body. "… …"
"Did you feel that?" asked Collector, looking around for the energy source he just felt.
"Felt what?" asked Luz, King and Hooty, staring at Collector before a strong pulse of magic came off Danielle and blasted them into the walls.
"Whoa!" said Collector, feeling Danielle's magic from the In Between.
"Danielle…" said Luz, seeing Danielle's eyes blank before running over and grabbing Danielle as she passed out. "Danielle! Danielle, wake up! Danielle!"
"Danielle!" said King, pawing at Danielle's leg.
