Job Quest Dungeon

Mt. Atago

Chiba, Japan

"How did things end up like this...?" Izuku rubs his head in annoyance. "I was pretty sure that I would not get Necromancer. This is the weirdest thing I ever dealt with in my life."

[You have been assigned to the "Necromancer" Class]

[Accept this job assignment?]

[Yes/No]

"I got a choice..." Izuku mutters. "If so, what will I get..." Izuku scratched his head before he decided that he shouldn't take the job. He was never been comfortable with any topic related to death, and given his recent development where he didn't feel anything about death, this isn't a job that will be good for his mental health.

Ever since he's interning with Japan's Number 10 Hero, he knows death is inevitable and there will be times when he will kill villains. But, another thing about being a hero is to avoid as many deaths as possible. Unnecessary death isn't a good thing and he isn't a psychopath like Agent Hail claims him to be.

'People always think that some people deserve to die, and they will say how annoying it is for that hero to let them live.' Izuku thought. 'But, neither of them has ever experienced getting blood on their hand. Like Bakugou, tells people to die, yet he never goes that far. I still remember how he froze seeing a dead puppy on the street.'

Izuku looks at the window screen again and he frowns. The job change is a big decision, and unlike the game, he can't change the game by recreating an account. This is the real world and there's no restart button. [A/N: Oh, irony :3]

"I don't think this job is for me..." Izuku mutters. "I need to restrain myself, and this job won't provide me with one." Izuku decided to press [No] before he got another notification.

[Necromancer is a "Hidden Class". Would you still wish to decline?]

"..." Izuku's fist starts to shake as he hits both of his faces with his fists and lets out a loud stifled groan. "Why, System, just why!?! Why do you have to say those?!!?"

Even with all the negative he finds when he thinks about Necromancer, he's still a human kid who starts to like playing video games thanks to his best friend. One thing he learns about video games like this is that Hidden Class provides tons of perks and grants you buffs that are only special for the class. Not to mention, getting a hidden class is like betting your luck on a gamble. You need an insane luck to get it.

"I never felt so pissed by my luck..." Izuku drags his face down while letting out an annoyed groan. "But, is getting hidden class worth risking my build? People might see me as an idiot, but I prefer jack of all trades, and Necromancers are majority a one-trick pony. Especially with how 'CrustyFace289' plays with it, spamming skeletons, magic blast, and repeat..."

Izuku can't help but sweatdrop as he remembers the time he played an online game and met several opponents who played necromancer and all of them always spam skeletons. It was so annoying that Izuku devises two pages of strategy just to screw them over. So, yeah, he has a somewhat bad history with necromancers.

"...should I risk it...?" Izuku thought as he rubbed his chin. "I can get warrior or mage, but those are so common that the class upgrade will also lead me to another one-trick pony. Mage is the glass cannon and the risks were too much, while warriors are the average class that will either turn me into a barbarian, which is a no, a weapon specialist, or a classic Paladdin..."

"...then again, if Ei saw this, he'd pester me to get the class." Izuku sweatdrops. "He would love to have an undead army. I still prefer summons, but given how they react to me, I doubt I'll ever get one..." Izuku looks at the screen again.

"...AAARRRGGGHH, WHY CAN'T I JUST CHOOSE!?!?! YES, OR NO!?!? IT'S JUST TWO CHOICE!!! BUT, WHY MY MIND IS HESITATING!?!? AND WHY I KEEP THINKING ABOUT STUPID STUFF!?!?" Izuku takes a deep breath before letting out a sigh. "I'm a mess..." Izuku rubs his temple.

"...should I choose or not...?" Izuku mutters as he sweats nervously. "...ah, you'll only live one, anyways...besides, a summoner with fighting skills will catch people off guard..." Izuku pressed the button [No] . "Then again, there won't be another chance to get a hidden class. And as for restrains...I trust my friends to stop me..." He decides to accept the job placement.

Izuku widens his eyes as black energy swirls around him before it enters Izuku's body. The shadow immediately engulfs Izuku, forcing him to close his eyes. When he opened it, he saw that he was back in a familiar empty void, but this time, he was accompanied by a figure with purple glowing eyes. In a mere second, he comes back to reality as a notice window pops up.

[You have been promoted from Necromancer to Shadow Monarch]

"H-huh!?!?" Izuku's eyes widen in shock. "Shadow Monarch!?!? Isn't that what Leo calls me!?!?" Izuku receives another notice window.

[Shadow Extraction may be used on this target]

[Please specify a designated command for the [Shadow Extraction] ]

"Designated command..." Izuku gave a thought before looking at Igris, his eyes glowed emerald for a second as mana covered his body.

"...Arise." As he said that, mana exploded around him and started to cover Igris' corpse. Izuku anxiously waits for a moment before the mana suddenly scatters, creating a mini shockwave as Izuku covers his face from it. "Damn it!"

[You have failed to extract a shadow]

[You have two chances remaining]

"Of course...he has higher stats than me..." Izuku mutters before looking at it again. "Arise." Once again, mana gathers around the corpse before it explodes again.

[You have failed to extract a shadow]

[You have one chance remaining]

"...you're not making this easy are you?" Izuku sighs. "How long have you been here? Alone with the rest of your squadrons...waiting for the person you swore to protect, the owner of the throne, the one who's long gone..." Izuku says as he looks at Igris' corpse. "...I know we don't know each other for a long time, but from what happened earlier, I know you're a great warrior...so, stop protecting this throne...and fight with me, side-by-side..."

Izuku didn't notice but a piece of shadow around Igris started to shape like a clawed hand and extended his hand towards Izuku. Izuku looks at the corpse before taking a deep breath and uttering one word, this time with force.

"Arise!" As he said that, mana starts to pour into the corpse as it starts to shake before a perfect shadow replica of Igris emerges from the emergedpse, done with a new shadow cape, and glowing green eyes.

[You have successfully enhanced the shadow's power]

[The shadow will start at level 8]

[Shadow soldiers that rank Knight or Higher can be named]

"Igris," Izuku replies immediately as he looks at the shadow.

"...I greet my lord." Izuku was taken aback as the former commander spoke and kneeled in front of him. Izuku starts to wave his hands frantically.

"There's no need to do that!" Izuku says in panic as Igris merely tilts his head.

"I insist, my lord. This is how I show respect to you." Izuku facepalms while letting out a sigh.

"...you won't change your mind, no matter what, do you?" Igris merely shakes his head. "Fine, then. I shall be in your care, Igris."

"Of course, my lord." Izuku sighs before looking at the pile of corpses.

"So...you can talk?" Izuku asks. "So why are you silent earlier?"

"The Gate suppresses my strength, which also includes my capability to communicate." Izuku's eyebrow rose a bit from the information.

"Another thing to add about Gate, then..." Izuku looks at the pile of corpses. "So, any recommendation?"

"...I beg you pardon?"

Outside the dungeon

"Guys, should we call for someone?" Ochako asks in worry. "He's not coming out yet."

"Ease up, girly. Midoriya may have taken a while now, but that doesn't mean he's dead." Mirko says while eating her carrot.

"Wait, I think he's walking out now!" Eijirou points out and sure enough, a shadow is visible from the gate. Then, Izuku walks out of the dungeon. Everyone was taken aback at how bad Izuku's current condition is and worried.

"Izu! You're okay!!" Ochako immediately hugs him as he hugs her back. "You made us worried!"

"Sorry, sorry. Igris was a tough nut to crack." Izuku chuckles. "Oh, got someone to join in."

"Greetings, my lord's companions."Igris walks out of the Gate and bows a bit, shocking everyone.

"...what the fuck!?"
