It's time for a disclaimer: I am not Uncle Rick; I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians nor The Heroes of Olympus, even tho I wish to.
"So, I have to stay year-round?!" Annabeth exclaimed.
"Yes" Chiron answered coldly "Alright, now that's unfair!" she yelled and stormed off. Annabeth wouldn't usually mind staying year-round, but this would be the first year after defeating Gaia, she and the other seven will finally have some peace. Also, if she stayed at camp, she wouldn't be able to work on her relationship with her stepmother, Annabeth promised she would try to get along with her this year.
The centaur was faster than her, so he stopped her before she got to the door. "Remember, you can't leave the borders if you don't want to face the consequences. Swear on the river Styx, that you won't leave camp, without my or Mr. D's permission." if looks could kill people, Chiron would be already dead.
"Alright, I swear on the river Styx, that I won't leave the camp without your permission." she sighed." and with that, Chiron stepped away from the door Annabeth left the Big house.
When she returned to the Athena cabin a shadow was sitting on her bed. She sat next to it.
"Thank you," said Malcolm
"Hey, that's what siblings do" Annabeth managed a smile.
"So... what do... What do you have to do?" asked her brother very carefully.
"Well, you know, the typical helping the harpies for one week, not allowed to leave the cabin till end of summer, except for classes and..." she paused.
"And what?"
"And I must stay year-round."
"He can't do that!" cried Malcolm
"Apparently, he can, and he did. I am supposed to tell my dad, I just don't know how. "Annabeth looked down. She promised that this year she will try to work on her relationship with her stepmother, and her dad was planning to spend more time with her.
"I know it's not good time to ask but-"
"You want to ask a about the prophecy, Malcolm, I am sorry, but I am not ready to talk about it, and anyways the quest starts next summer, I have time. Annabeth said.
"Alright... we should go to sleep, or we won't wake up tomorrow." said her brother while yawning. "Goodnight Annabeth"
"Hey Malcolm, one last thing" he turned towards her. "Yes?"
"Will you come with me on this quest next year?" she asked, Malcolm eyes widened.
"You want me on your quest?"
"Yes, it would be nice, brother sister adventure" Annabeth genuinely smiled, but it wasn't the only reason she wanted him to come, next summer was supposed to be blue moon, and Malcolm would lose all control over his curse, she wanted him out of camp and near her when that happens, that is also another reason she picked that time for her quest.
She wasn't in a hurry to figure out her powers, yes it was exciting to finally not be the powerless from the seven. She might be smart, and she might figure problems faster than the others but having some abilities is useful, like she barely survived the Mark of Athena, if she had powers, it would have been soo much easier. But she is a child of Athena, forget that she is a demigod, life isn't meant to be easy for her, it doesn't matter that she must work twice as hard than her friends, at least it makes her strong.
She wished him goodnight and fell into the world of Hypnos. Maybe tonight she won't have any dreams?
She had dreams.
Well, not dreams, nightmares and flashbacks. After defeating Gaia, she and Percy had many flashbacks from ... Tartarus. The last few weeks they managed to control their dreams and flashbacks were less and less every night. Tonight, it was about Nyx and her mansion. Annabeth and Percy were running with closed eyes through the rooms, and she felt the powerful darkness, misery and pain. Then they somehow managed to jump over the river.
The Athena's cabin was late for breakfast. That wasn't usual, they were normally first at breakfast. Percy was worried that something had happened to Annabeth and looked at Chiron. Chiron on the other hand looked annoyed, well that's a new look. The centaur had an idea, why was cabin 6 late. The two counselors were asleep.
Annabeth slowly opened her eyes and saw shadows over her, instinctively she grabbed the person closer to her and judo-flipped him. Then her vision cleared, she was in her cabin, next to her bed, holding her little six-year-old stepsister Emily who was on the ground, probably she was the unlucky person closest to Annabeth, while the rest of her cabin was standing around them.
"We are late for breakfast, but we didn't want to wake you up" said one of her siblings.
Wise.
"What about Malcolm?" she asked.
"Malcolm is still asleep too, we tried to wake him but well..."
"...we couldn't" finished Emily "But he is not dead!" she quickly added when she saw Annabeth's face.
"Alright, give me two minutes" said Annabeth and went to the bathroom to quickly change. After exactly 2 mins she returned and went to Malcolm's bed "MALCOLM!" she yelled.
"Wha- AHH!" he jumped out of bed in his sword decorated underwear. When he realized what was going on he covered himself with the sheets of his bed and went to the bathroom.
After five minutes the whole cabin was marching behind Annabeth to the mess hall. The morning announcements just ended, and the nymphs were serving food, the campers were just finishing burning their offerings to the gods. When they walked in, Percy, Jason and Piper were staring at her with awe. A quick (staring) conversation passed between Annabeth and Percy; it went like this:
P: Are you okay? Why are you late?
A: I'm fine seaweed brain, I'll tell you later.
P: But-
A: Later.
P: ...
A: Close your mouth.
P: *Closes mouth*
A few other campers looked in her direction, but the others knew better. When her siblings were all at their place Annabeth walked over to the head table and Mr. D assigned her to clean the dishes after breakfast in return for being late. Annabeth went to burn the tastiest food on her dish and prayed to her mom for luck on her quest. (Ik that she won't probably pray for luck to her mom for a quest next summer, but I had no clue what to put there so just go with it)
After breakfast she went to clean the dishes and prepared for Greek mythology class she was teaching later. Percy attended this class, he didn't need to, he just wanted to be with her as much as possible, which was cute, and she wouldn't mind it if he didn't spray her with water all the time.
Hello again demigods, mortals and creatures! I am a horrible writer for not posting for soo long! The fanfiction net was down for a while, and I forgot to check if it is back on again 😅. Here is a question: About what creature should Annabeth teach about in the Greek mythology class? Comment please! (Something rare)
