In Lucky's hospital room, the breathing tube is out, been out for a while, but she's still hooked to machines and stuff. Her family is surrounding her, her family from far away is still here. "Oh Lucky... when will you wake?", Sweetie asked, knowing it was futile, though still wishing she were still awake with them. "Ah heard Lightnin' is in the hospital, about ta have her foal if she hasn't already. Oh Lucky, Ah bet she wishes you could be there for the birth o' her foal...", AB said. "Aw man... Lucky would have loved to have been there... she's been in their lives for 8 years and been there for them when they wanted her to talk to.", Rainbow said. The others nodded. It's about almost noon, so then they all go down to the cafeteria and get lunch. Afterwards, they go back to her room. Lucky's friends are visiting now, of course, with the exception of Lightning, Thunder, Citrus, and now Neon. They look to the door as the family walk in.
"Hi guys.", Ice Frost says. "Hi Ice.", Rainbow says. "I see she isn't awake yet... man I hope she does wake soon... I miss her, even though I only knew her for a very short while.", she said. Lucky's family smiled sadly. Lucky herself groaned softly. Her family and friends gasped and looked to her. "Lucky?", Lavender asked softly. Lucky groaned again and extremely slowly opened her eyes. "Lavender?", she asked, though her voice is all raspy and soft and stuff, as she hasn't used it in 6 months. "Yeah, it's me. Nurse, Doctors! Come quick, Lucky's awake!", She said. In seconds, doctors and nurses came in and all went to Lucky's attention. They asked Lucky so many questions and then took her to get tested, to see if everything is functioning smoothly enough to take her off the machines. Lucky's family and friends are so happy, they're crying of joy and hugging each other. When the tests are done, Lucky was brought to her room, and she wasn't hooked to any machines. The bad news is, being in a coma for 6 months, she needs to relearn some things.
Like her legs will be stiff, so she needs therapy for that, her wings will be stiff too so she needs to stretch them and possibly relearn how to fly. Her voice will need to become stronger too. That won't take terribly long though, unlike the other things. Lucky's back will also be stiff, so she needs to slowly stretch out her back and stuff. So, some physical therapy. Oh joy ~sarcastically~. "How long was I out?", Lucky asked, her voice still how it was when she first talked. "6 months. Lightning is having her foal as we speak, if she hasn't had it already." Lucky's eyes went wide. "She's having her foal?!", Lucky asked and her voice got a bit stronger from the outburst, but instantly she coughed. "Ow... now I know how you feel Terra. So very sorry you have to go through the weak voice thing... it ain't very friendly..." Terra giggled. "It's ok Princess. I have lived this long with it, though thankfully it has gotten stronger since I was 4.", she said. Lucky nodded. "Hey, wanna see if Ah can visit Lightnin' 'n see if her foal was born yet?", Applejack asked. Lucky smiled happily and tried to nod.
"Mmmm... stiff neck... yes please.", she said. Applejack smiled and then went out of the room to ask where Lightning Sky's room is. When she finds out, she goes to the room. "Lightnin'?", she asks quietly. Lightning looked in the direction where Applejack's voice came from. "Applejack! Come in come in. I had my foal. She's in the nursery right now. She has my and Citrus' coat color and my mane color, but her mane color has a red streak in it from Citrus' great grandfather. Also, she's a Unicorn." Applejack smiled, "Awww, she sounds so cute. Have ya seen her eye color?" Lightning shook her head, "Not yet. We will though when she does decide to open them." Lightning giggled and Applejack chuckled. "Hey guys, Lucky's awake now." Lightning and her family all gasp and cheer softly. "So, if y'all're up to it, follow me 'n Ah'll lead ya to her room." They all nod and follow Applejack.
When they got to Lucky's room, Lightning and Thunder flew over to her and hugged her. "Ow ow ow ow ow...", Lucky said. The twins let go and blushed lightly. "Sorry, but Lucky, you're ok!", Lightning said. Lucky smiled, "Yeah, I am. Though the doctors said I will need physical therapy to do the things I used to do. Like sit up, walk, and fly." Thunder made an ouch face. "That sucks majorly..." Lucky sighed, "Mm-hm... that it does..." Lightning then said, "Hey Princess, would you like to see my filly?" Lucky smiled, "Sure! I'll need to go through the pain of having to sit up with stiff arsed muscles..." Lightning, Ice Dancer, and Harper giggled as Thunder, Citrus, and Golden chuckled. Lucky's other friends and family all giggled/chuckled too. Redheart grinned, then began working with Lucky on sitting up.
It took a long while, to be exact, a lot of hours... for Lucky to be able to sit up. Now she's in a wheelchair. It's about... 7 PM. So, suppertime. They were going to see Neon though, and because Lightning needed to feed her again. While Lucky was having her therapy, Lightning fed Neon. Babies need to be fed a tad more of course. But as they get older, they can be fed just three times a day like normal ponies. Lightning went in the nursery and brought out Neon. "Her name is Neon Flash." Lucky smiled gently. "Aww, she's adorable Lightning." Lightning smiled, "Thank you Princess. Too bad you won't have a foal of your own, having a marefriend while you're a mare yourself." Lucky smiled sadly. "Yeah, that is too bad. Though it's ok though. It's the price I have to take being into mares." Sweetie smiled. "I do think the same thing, it is too bad, but it's the price we have to pay."
"Yeah... Well, we are welcome to visit with you anytime right Lightning, Citrus?", Lucky asked. "Well, I think it might be ok.", Lightning says. "Well, how about we give it a while? Let the foal get used to our home." Lucky nodded. "Actually, that's a good idea. We'll do that.", Lucky said. Lightning agreed as well after hearing Citrus' opinion. So, after visiting the baby for a while, the others went back to Lucky's room. Lucky was put back on her bed by Celestia. "Thanks Celestia. I'm beat... I need sleep.", Lucky said, then chuckled. "You 'slept' for like, 6 months, how can you be tired?", Pinkie asked. "A coma is much different than just regular sleeping Aunt Pinkie. A coma is when your brain goes into deep unconsciousness for more than 6 hours, in my case, for 6 months. Being unconscious is not resting your body or mind. It's just something that happens when a big shock to the body happens. Sleeping on the other hoof is something you choose to do because you are tired and your body is tired and needs rest."
Everypony there was astonished, even Redheart. Lucky blushed at their amazement of her medical knowledge. "What? I study and am very smart, much like Aunt Twilight." Twilight smiled proudly, as did Lucky's family. "Well, I'm going to sleep. Night everypony. " Lucky then went to sleep. "How about one of us stays here to make sure she doesn't go back into a coma, just to be safe?", Pinkie suggested. The others nodded, Sweetie volunteered to stay. They agreed and then they went home, though Lightning and Citrus had to go back to the maternity ward. They have to stay for a couple nights so that Lightning can recover from having Neon. Next day, Sweetie startled awake, as she fell out of her chair. Lucky startled awake too at the thud. "Sweetie, you ok?", Lucky asked.
"Yeah, I'm ok... ow...", she said while standing up. "I'm glad you didn't slip back into a coma overnight... that's why I'm still here." Lucky chuckled. "I know, I heard you guys agree to somepony staying for that reason." Sweetie grinned and blushed lightly. Lucky sat up. "Mmm... still painful, but at least I can sit up." Sweetie nodded, then sat next to Lucky and hugged her. Lucky grinned and tried to move her wing, but couldn't, so she settled with wrapping a foreleg around Sweetie. They leaned into each other and stayed like that for a while until Redheart came in. "Good morning you two. How about some breakfast?", she said. The two jumped apart and blushed. Sweetie busied herself with fixing her mane, which isn't messed up at all... and Lucky just whistled.
Redheart giggled and set the breakfast on the tray for the both of them. "Thank you.", they said together. "You're welcome. After you eat Princess, you'll be doing some physical therapy, so that you can at least walk again. I'm sure your mom can teach you how to fly again, or even one of the Princesses if they would like. The hospital's therapy though is to get you back to walking." Lucky nodded and ate with Sweetie. Then Sweetie was allowed to be with Lucky while she went through physical therapy. Lucky had a hard time trying to stand up, but a while later, really like, 4 hours or something later, she was able to stand. Sweetie and Redheart both smiled. "It's definitely a start. Though your muscles do need to get used to holding you up before you can start walking." Lucky nodded, "Of course."
"How about we end this session for now? It's lunchtime after all right now.", Redheart said. "Sure.", Lucky said. So she was helped back into her wheelchair and then Sweetie wheeled her down to the cafeteria. The ponies all down there cheered for Lucky's awakening. Lucky smiled sheepishly. So she and Sweetie got their lunch and sat at a table. Like, 5 minutes later, Dashing, Applejack and Rainbow came in and went to Lucky and Sweetie. "Howdy Lucky. Dashin' wanted ta visit ya so Princess Celestia told me 'n Rainbow ta escort him here." Dashing went up to Lucky. "Glad to see you're doing well now Princess." Lucky smiled. "Thank you Dashing. I just stood on my own just about 6 minutes ago. My session is done for today, hey, I think I'm cleared to go outside. Nopony said yes or no." Rainobw shook her head, "I think we should get permission from Nurse Redheart first. She is your main nurse after all." Lucky sighed, "Alright. Though I think she will say yes." She and Sweetie finished their lunch and then the 5 went to find Redheart.
When they found her, she was at the desk on Lucky's floor. They thought so. "Hey Nurse Redheart, am I cleared to go outside?" Redheart looked up. "Why sure. You can go outside. Just don't leave the hospital grounds is all." Lucky smiled happily. "I won't." Redheart then nodded and then Sweetie wheeled her outside. "Yee-haw!", Lucky shouted out when she got outside. The ponies all looked her way, then they grinned, and somepony asked, "Are you released from the hospital now Princess?" Lucky shook her head. "Nope, I still need to try and walk again, then I'll be released." The ponies all said 'awwww' disappointed. "Yeah I know... stinks, but hey, I think it won't be too terribly long. I just was able to stand earlier. So I think I'll be walking in no time."
"Well that's good. It's good that you're getting better Princess. Hopefully you can leave the hospital soon." Lucky nodded. So, the rest of the day, the 5 hung out with Lucky and when it came suppertime, they all said goodbye and left and Redheart wheeled Lucky to the cafeteria and when Lucky got her dinner, she wheeled her to a table. So pretty much the day is done and so is this chapter :P
