Chapter 58: Candy Floss

Lucky, Sweetie, and Pyro were outside at the park, Lucky and Sweetie were watching Pyro. They also did their school work while watching Pyro. As Sweetie looked up, she saw a light blue Unicorn walk by with a crazy looking mane and the pony's pushing a cart with cotton candy. "Whoa.", she said. Lucky looked up at Sweetie, then at where she was looking at. "Whoa.", Lucky repeated. The Unicorn just now sold a cotton candy to a couple and their foal. The foal seemed really happy to have gotten some cotton candy. "Well, I never seen that pony around before. I would definitely remember that mane style. I wonder if the pony's new?", Lucky wondered aloud. "Maybe.", Sweetie said. Pyro then came up to them, seems she saw the cotton candy because she was bouncy. "Can I get a cotton candy?", she asked. Lucky smiled. "Sure. How about we all go up and get one? Then we can introduce ourselves too.", she said. Sweetie agreed and Pyro said, "Yay! Thanks!" The three went up to the pony, after Sweetie and Lucky put their school work in their saddlebags. "Hello. Three cotton candies please.", Lucky said. The pony looked over and was surprised.

The pony, upon closer look, a female, bowed. "Good day Princess. Of course." She got the cotton candy for them and handed the cotton candies to the three with her magic, her aura being purple, and purple is her eye color also. Her mane is bubblegum pink and really poofy, as is her tail. Sweetie and Lucky took their cotton candy in their magic and Pyro took hers in her hoof. "Thanks!", Pyro said to the pony. The pony smiled a friendly smile. "You're welcome little one.", she said. "Are you new to Hoofington? I haven't seen you around before.", Lucky asked the pony. "Yeah. My name is Candy Floss. It's nice to meet you Princess. Who are these two? Friends?", Candy asked. Lucky and Sweetie looked at each other. 'Think we should tell her?', Sweetie asked by telepathy, knowing she can hear Lucky's reply now too. 'Even if we didn't, she'd hear it from the other ponies anyway, so let's tell her ourselves instead of her hearing it from the grapevine.', Lucky replied. Sweetie nodded, agreeing that would be the best choice. Candy tilted her head, confused. "Dey can talk to each odder by thinking.", Pyro said.

Candy looked impressed, but she also melted at Pyro's speech. She thought that was the cutest thing ever. "My name is Sweetie Belle, and I'm more than just a friend to the Princess. We're actually marefriends. Please be at least civil to us... we had it from a lot of ponies when word got out.", Sweetie said. "Hon, don't worry. I'm not prejudiced towards that kind of thing. Ponies can love who they want. Love is what it is. Nopony can tell you who you can and can't love, it just ain't right." Sweetie and Lucky smiled happily. "Thank you!", they said. Pyro looked at the older ponies. "What's 'cibil, pwe-ju-dissed', and what does Miss Fwoss mean by what she said about wove?", Pyro asked. "Very good pronunciation. Though a bit shorter on the 'dissed' part. The little filly is quite smart.", Candy said. "Yeah. She's very good with new words, it's just her little speech impairment is a hindrance to saying the words fully. She's working on it though. She got quite a few more words down since yesterday. Thanks and thinking are two new ones she can say right. Anyway, 'civil' means to just be nice to us even though ponies might not like us because Sweetie and I are together. Secondly, what Candy is saying, is that even though we're together, she doesn't care. She'll still be our friend. She just said it a longer way, saying we can love each other if we want."

"Oh. Ok. Oh, Miss Fwoss, my name is Pyro Heart. Da Princess and Sweetie are watching me until we get to Ponybille where da Princess' mamas are gonna watch me until da Princess is old enough to watch me by herself and wiff Sweetie too.", Pyro said. "Really? How come?", Candy asked. "Cause her parents are part of the DMS. Have you heard of the trouble I had in Ponyville with a member?", Lucky asked. Candy thought back, she realized now. "Oh yeah, I have. Glad you're ok Princess. I heard he got you really good... in a coma for 6 months... ~tsk's~ What about the rest though? Are they all gone?" Lucky shook her head. "I'm working on catching the rest. I caught Pyro's parents recently, that's how she's with us. She didn't want to go anywhere else. If we put her in an orphanage, I'm pretty sure she'd have made her way back to us somehow. She's pretty crafty. She'd been hiding in flowers and all sorts avoiding other ponies and avoiding getting caught. I noticed the flowers rustle the one day when Sweetie and I were in the park either before or after I saw my old foal sitter Bad Machine and I went over and investigated and found her. She wasn't very talkative at first but when she found out her parents did what they did, she wanted out.

"She came to our apartment and told me that her parents told her what they do and what their organization is and she didn't like it. She found the landlady and the landlady brought her to our apartment. Pyro told me to put her parents in jail because they will never change. Then she surprised me by saying that they weren't her parents anymore because of what they do. She really didn't want to be their filly anymore. I told her it wasn't her choice. They had to agree to put her up for adoption. When we visited the prison, I told them what Pyro told me. At first they were a bit surprised, but then they were all 'don't care' about it and agreed. I gave them papers to sign saying Pyro is now an orphan and the female suggested I took care of her because we seemed 'chummy' is how she put it. In my surprise, I accidentally blabbed that Sweetie and I were together after saying I was too young to take care of a filly and they took that opportunity to tell the guards who then told others and then it spread like wildfire. Sweetie and I had our first, and hopefully last... fight and Pyro tried cheering me up. When I did tell Pyro about the orphanage, she wasn't too thrilled, but she understood my age wasn't too great for looking after a filly. Then mom reminded me of how old she was and how old I was when she took me in. She was a year older than I and I was a year older than Pyro at the time. So I agreed after coming up with the idea of Pyro being looked after by mom and ma when I get back to Ponyville and when I'm old enough, I can adopt her."

"Oh wow. Well, that is a good idea. Also, really? That's something, both being a year older than this situation." Candy giggled. Lucky grinned. "Right? I did find that a bit funny when I thought of it." Sweetie smiled. Pyro just ate her cotton candy. By now she was uninterested in the conversation and more interested in her cotton candy. Sweetie looked over. "Oh boy, she's going to have that everywhere." She giggled though. Lucky looked over and snickered. "Yup, she really is. That's what you get with little foals though. I got myself into this, and I wouldn't change that. Pyro's a very sweet filly with a big heart.", she said. Sweetie nodded in agreement. Candy smiled gently. Those three did make a cute and sweet family. "Well, it was nice meeting you Candy Floss. Hopefully we'll see you around more.", Lucky said. "Same here. Good bye Princess, Sweetie, Pyro.", Candy said, then went off to sell more cotton candy. Lucky and Sweetie tried their cotton candy. "Mmmm!", they exclaimed. "This is exquisite! She must really be good at making cotton candy.", Sweetie said. "I think that's why she's named Candy Floss. I've kind of studied a little of overseas accents and language over the years and in one part of Europe (A/N: no idea how to ponify that :/ ) they say candy floss instead of cotton candy.", Lucky said. "Oooh, that makes sense.", Sweetie said.

"Have you studied Japonies yet too?", she asked. Lucky facehoofed. "No... I keep forgetting. Maybe the library here has some books on Japonies where I can study it. I also want to visit Japon (A/N: edited it that way so that it looks better, I used to put an 'e' at the end, but I don't like the way it looks, so I dropped the 'e') so that I can figure out if I might be the reincarnation of Fire Reader. I keep meaning to do that too, but... now I can't until I catch the DMS members.", Lucky said. "You'll get there someday.", Sweetie said. "Yeah, someday. I hope getting these DMS members won't take ages.", Lucky said. Sweetie and Pyro agreed with that. "Though there's either 16 or 18 left, ugh... how much do you wanna bet it will take absolutely ages?", Lucky said. Sweetie opened her mouth to say something smart alecky and Lucky cut her off saying, "Not literally. Smart aleck." Sweetie giggled. Lucky grinned. "I'm psychic remember, I know when you're thinking of doing or saying something smart alecky.", Lucky said. "Yeah yeah yeah. I still had to try.", Sweetie said grinning. Lucky shook her head, grinning as well. "Yeah, but that's also one reason I love you.", Lucky said. Sweetie blushed lightly, "Yeah? What are the other reasons?", she asked. "Well, you're really kind, you're really cute ~grin~, you're feisty sometimes, and you have a big heart.", Lucky said.

"Aww. Thanks Lucky." Sweetie nuzzled Lucky. Lucky nuzzled her back. Lucky wasn't going to ask what Sweetie liked about her. She already knew. "Well, I think I'll go to the library to see if they have any Japonies books.", Lucky said, deciding she may as well get a head start on her Japonies learning. "Can I come too?", Pyro asked. "Sure. Sweetie, will you come or will you stay here?", Lucky asked. "I'll come too I suppose. Yeah, that way I'll be a little closer to work when it's time.", Sweetie said. Lucky nodded and the three went to the library, though, on the way, "Pyro, you have to be really quiet in the library because other ponies will be reading and they don't like having loud noises when they're reading.", Sweetie said. Pyro nodded, understanding. When they got to the library, Lucky went up to the librarian. "Do you have any books on learning how to speak Japonies?", she asked. The librarian looked in her files. Eventually she turned back to Lucky and told her they did and where to find it. "Ok, thank you very much." Lucky then went to the area where the books are and got a couple out. She started reading and studying. Sweetie Belle asked where the foal's books are. She was told and she and Pyro went over to that section. Sweetie read a few books to Pyro as Lucky studied. When it came time for Sweetie to head to work, Sweetie put the books back in their specific place and took Pyro over to Lucky. "I gotta go. See you later.", Sweetie said.

"Ok, bye Sweetie, have a good evening at work.", Lucky said. Sweetie smiled and nodded and went off to work. Lucky decided to check out the books she was studying from and the two left for home. They ran into Candy Floss again, though she didn't have her cart this time. "Hello Candy.", Lucky said. "Hello Princess, Pyro. Where you coming from?", Candy asked. "The library. I'm learning Japonies because I have a cousin who's half Japonies and an Aunt who is full Japonies. I promised my cousin I would study Japonies, though... that was 11 years ago. I kept forgetting, what with all my childhood and Princess work getting in the way. So I'm finally starting to learn Japonies. My cousin will be surprised though when she sees me next. I'll be speaking Japonies fluently. Assuming it'll be that long until I see her again.", Lucky said. "Oooo, Japonies, how interesting. You know, they say Japonies is the hardest language to learn." Lucky made an ouch face. "Really?", she asked. Candy nodded. "I have faith in you though hon. You're a smart pony. I've heard about your exploits and successes when you were young. I even watched your Princess meeting on tv 11 years ago. To have found out you wrote most of that speech was incredible. So I know you're definitely capable enough to learn Japonies.", Candy said. The three were actually walking towards Lucky's apartment as they were talking.

"Heh, thanks for the vote of confidence Candy.", Lucky said. Candy smiled. Lucky and Candy talked until they reached Lucky's apartment. "Well, this is my apartment. See ya tomorrow or something. I might come out tomorrow.", Lucky said and shook Candy's hoof. "Ok Princess. See you whenever.", Candy said smiling. Lucky smiled back and nodded and her and Pyro went up to the apartment. "I wike Miss Fwoss. She's really nice.", Pyro said. Lucky smiled at her. "Yes, she is. I'll miss her when we go back to Ponyville. Though we could probably visit sometimes.", Lucky said. "I wanna visit sometimes. Ooo, maybe da odders can meet her when we visit.", Pyro said. "Yeah, I think they'll like to meet her. Especially Aunt Pinkie.", Lucky said grinning. She knows those two would get along very well. So, before Lucky got to work on her Princess work, she got Pyro a bath. Cotton candy was in a lot of her coat and all over her muzzle. "Jeez Pyro. I know you're a little one and all but dang. Never expected this much cotton candy to be stuck on you.", Lucky said. Pyro grinned and giggled. Lucky smiled and after the bath was done and she was dried off, Pyro went out to play with her toys. Lucky got to work on her Princess work, as well as studying the Japonies books. She kept an eye on Pyro as well.

When Sweetie got home, Pyro was just getting into bed. Sweetie went into Pyro's room where Lucky was just wishing Pyro good night. "Just in time huh? Good night Pyro.", Sweetie said. Pyro smiled. "Hi Sweetie. Thanks. Night." Pyro then settled down and went to sleep. Lucky and Sweetie went to their room and sat on their own beds. "How's the Japonies studying going?", Sweetie asked. "Fairly well, I suppose. I saw Candy again on the way home from the library. I told her about my studying Japonies and she says she's confident I can do it. She also said it's the hardest language to learn.", Lucky said. "Oh wow. Well, I believe in you too. You've done great things ever since you were 5. You have the ability for sure.", Sweetie said. Lucky smiled. "Thanks Sweetie. Well, we should get to sleep as well. Night.", she said. "Night Lucky."
