Kakashi thought. He couldn't grab his usual team. They were needed to protect Kushina, and the mission he was given was for Kakashi, not Hound. Matadormon stood mostly next to him, keeping to the shadows. Eventually he handed two of Minato's Kunai to the digimon. "Stay with Kushina. Give one to Rin, and the other to Obito on the way."

"As your will." Matadormon disappeared completely.

Caught up in his thoughts, he didn't notice a girl with purple hair up in a wild ponytail stalk up to him. She interrupted him by poking him in the back. She stared at him. She did not look happy either. "I can't find him. You're going to help me."

He turned around. Anko Mitarashi stood in front of him, her arms folded. He blinked. Wasn't Rin handling her? He flushed, realizing what she was wearing, and pointedly directed his eyes upwards. He remembered her from the Chunin exams.

So, how could he say this without her trying to fight him? Kakashi grabbed her arm and pulled her into an alley between some buildings. She didn't protest much as she followed him.

"He's avoiding you so you don't get caught up in this mess and die." He murmured.

"Don't care. Where is he?"

Kakashi's mind raced. "Hopefully I can find him before…"

"Before what?"

"Do me a favor."

"What? No. You're helping me find-" She glared at him.

"This is going to help him." He turned around and looked at her speaking quickly. "Find Yugao for me."

She blinked, then clenched her fists. "No, Hatake. Where is my-?"

He slapped a hand over her mouth. "I will make sure he gets to you and he sees you, but I need you to find Yugao for me. Tell her that I'd like to meet her for a recon mission at the village gates under order of The Fourth."

"You gotta sweeten the deal. Take me with you."

He glared at her.

She folded her arms, smirking. "If you're sending me to gather your teammates on this mission, you haven't found your other two, and the Fourth has given you permission to grab whoever's available for your team. So, take me with you."

He'd prefer a jounin, but she wasn't going to let up. She had the same look in her eyes Rin got when she was very determined. "Alright."

"We'll meet you there, and he better be with you." She disappeared in a blur, switching to moving across the rooftops.

He too ran off in a sharp sprint. Luckily, he found Orochimaru in the first place he searched. It was the same place Rin found him. Orochimaru's lab was full of strange vials and experiments, but compared to how Rin initially described it, he had toned down his crazy considerably.

"Do you need something?" He was looking over a spread of documents and items.

Kakashi walked into the room. "You need to leave with me."

Orochimaru looked at him. "Is Danzo throwing me away now?" He tilted his head to the side.

He shook his head, "I think The Third is going to come after you. We didn't consider anyone of high rank equating the vines with wood release…"

"How strange…" Orochimaru stared at him. He looked at the documents he was looking over. "That is currently what he has me working on."

"Then, we can maybe kill a few birds with one stone."

"Oh? Do tell?" Orochimaru leaned on the table like he was speaking to a friend who had some interesting gossip to spill. "He's currently untouchable, even for someone like me. I would love to change that."

"I don't think we can prove your innocence without alerting him that we're onto him, but I think we can do it another way. The vines in Konoha will eventually secrete or create a slow acting poison that attacks the chakra system, but the ones here aren't mature enough for that. So I need to find the source."

Orochimaru stood up as Kakashi spoke. He started moving around his laboratory, "And you want me to come with you?"

"You would be a great help."

"Flattery won't win you any points with me. I know what I'm capable of…" He murmured. He started writing on a scroll. He put it over his lab documents.

"We know where Danzo's actual lab is, but we're pretty sure they only know about his decoys."

Orochimaru looked at Kakashi. He smiled. And Kakashi was once again reminded why everyone in Konoha feared this man despite almost never running into him, and he almost never bothering them. "Three birds, one stone."

Kakashi nodded. The two got to work. Hopefully, they would leave enough evidence to point the Third in the right direction. Orochimaru left with Kakashi, leaving a shadow clone in his place.

Kakashi frowned as Anbu started informing him of the growing rumors of Hiruzen hunting down his own student. Danzo's Root Anbu were a pain in the butt.

He met with Anko, Yugao, and Shizune at the gates. He did a double take. "Shizune?"

Anko and Yugao shared a look. Anko shrugged. "What? I grabbed Yugao like you asked."

"I grabbed Shizune. It's obvious she doesn't want to be in Konoha right now." Yugao explained, her arms folded. Her vibrant purple hair flowed down her back.

Kakashi took the declaration at face value and ignored his current subordinate blatantly lying to him about Orochimaru's presence. Anko and Yugao must be better friends than he thought they were. The quartet headed out, with Kakashi filling them in on the way.
