Hey everyone, I'm back! Wow, I am on a roll with this story lol! I hope you like this chapter.
Transformers Prime: The Medic's Assistant
Chapter 18: Out of his Head
Disclaimer: I don't own Transformers Prime
(Autobot Base)
Stormracer stood next to Arcee as Ratchet gave Optimus his check up to make sure the plague was fully gone.
"Now follow the light," the medic told the prime as he shined a light in his optic.
Optimus did so, showing the doctor he was in perfect condition.
"Good," Ratchet said soon as he was done, "I wouldn't advice anything strenuous, Optimus, but it appears that your systems have fully repaired from the cybonic plague."
Optimus stepped out of the machine. "Thanks to your medical expertise, my friend," he said.
"It was my assistant that braved unknown territory to find the cure," Ratchet said, gesturing towards Stormracer.
Stormracer slightly blushed. "Oh come on," she said waving her servos, "it was nothing. Really."
"Lucky for us, Megatron was still alive," Arcee said, "yeah, I said it."
Ratchet looked at Optimus. "What matters is that you are on the mend, Optimus, while Megatron-"
"Well, we're not exactly sure what happened after we left," Stormracer interrupted.
"Storms right," Arcee said, "did my best to finish Megatron's story. Just couldn't stick around long enough to see how it ended."
Feeling a slight processor ache, Stormracer began rubbing her helm. Lately she had been feeling strange and would sometimes freeze up randomly. Not only that, she kept seeing Megatron's face. She figured it was just a side effect from the cortical psychic patch and simply dismissed it, thinking it would go away over time.
"Stormracer, are you alright?" Optimus asked her.
Looking up to see everyone looking at her, she smiled and said, "Yeah. Just a slight processor ache. I'm fine." She then looked at Ratchet, "I'm gonna go finish up organizing the storage vault." Turning around, she walked out of the room and down the hall.
Just as she was halfway down the hall, she went rigid and stopped in her tracks. Frowning, she looked at her servos as an image of Megatron flashed through her mind. She remained like this for a moment before snapping out of it.
"That was weird," she said to herself. Shrugging it off, she continued down the hall.
(Later)
"Basketball by way of Cybertron!" Miko announced, "let the games begin!"
Arcee, Stormracer, and the humans watched from the side as Bulkhead and Bumblebee played basketball with the lob ball. Bumblebee tried to shoot a basket, only for Bulkhead to catch the ball and score a basket of his own.
"Yeah, go Bulk!" Miko cheered.
"Way to go, Bulkhead!" Stormracer cheered, "you got this, Bumblebee!"
Sierra chuckled at her. "Of course you would cheer for both of them."
Bumblebee got a hold of the ball and was able to get past Bulkhead before dunking the ball through the hoop.
"Whoo! Nice one!" Stormracer said as she and Raf cheered.
As the game continued, Stormracer felt herself going rigid again. She saw a vision of Optimus, followed by a space bridge exploding.
"Storm, look out!" Bulkhead warned.
Seeing the ball heading straight for her, she immediately caught it before it could hit her. Glaring at the wrecker, she spun around and threw it back at him with all her might.
"Whoa!" Bulkhead exclaimed as he ducked down in time. The ball whizzed over him and slammed into the wall.
"Whoa," Miko said, surprised the teal femme could throw like that.
"Dodgeball by way of Cybertron," Jack commented.
Bulkhead frowned at the assistant. "What the heck, Storm?!"
Stormracer's glare disappeared as she snapped out of it. Realizing what she just did, she looked up at the wrecker with wide optics. "Bulkhead, I'm so sorry!" she apologized, "I don't know what came over me!"
"Storm, are you okay?" Sierra asked with a look of concern on her face.
"Uh..." Stormracer didn't know what to say as everyone looked at her. "Yeah," she lied with a weak smile, "I, uh, I think I'm just tired. I'm going to go lay down for a bit. Let me know who wins."
Immediately she left the room, feeling their gazes on her as she disappeared down the hall. Once she was alone, she let out a vent.
"What's the matter with me?" she asked herself worryingly, "why did I try to hurt Bulkhead?"
Stormracer then went rigid again as another vision appeared in her mind. She was looking down at herself, seeing a big hole in her body. That's when she noticed it wasn't her body at all. Just then she saw Starscream grabbing something from within her. Dark energon. He looked at the shard before looking back at her with an evil grin on his face.
Seeing another brief vision of Megatron, Stormracer snapped out of it and held her helm in confusion. She found herself becoming scared as she rushed down the hall and into her hangar, shutting the door behind her. Letting out a vent, she laid on her berth and covered her face, hoping she could sleep off whatever was wrong.
(The next day)
Stormracer didn't feel any better the next day. In fact, she felt worse. She drearily walked into the med bay when she noticed a piece of equipment sitting on the table. She felt herself going stiff as she made her way over to it and picked it up. Looking at the device for a moment, a frown soon formed on her face. Instantly she tightened her grip, crushing the gadget in her grasp.
"Stormracer!"
Regaining herself, the femme turned around to see Ratchet scowling at her.
"I needed that!" he exclaimed.
Looking at the destroyed device in her servo, she gasped as she dropped it onto the table. "Ratchet I am so sorry!" she apologized.
"What has gotten into you?" Ratchet asked her.
"I don't know!" she said, holding her helm, "I don't even know why I did that! I've been freezing up, doing things randomly, seeing visions and Megatron's face, and-"
"You're seeing Megatron's face?" Ratchet asked her concernly.
"I thought whatever is happening would pass, but its getting worse," she said, "I'm scared."
Now knowing something was definitely wrong, Ratchet tried to comfort her. "It's going to be alright," he assured her, "you did use the cortical psychic patch to enter another bot's mind. Perhaps your mind just needs time to recover from the experience. I think the best course of action is to put you in power-down, just to help you relax."
Thinking it was a good idea, she nodded. "Okay."
(Later)
Worried for their friend, the bots gathered in the med area as Stormracer stepped into the machine. Soon as Sierra got word of what was happening, she requested to come see her guardian. It didn't take long for Stormracer to go into power-down as her optics closed.
"Stormracers complaining of intermittent visions," Ratchet told the others, "waking nightmares if you will."
"But you said she was fine when you checked her over," Sierra told him.
"Physically," the medic said, "but the experience she endured seems to be having an effect on her psyche. This induced power-down should force Stormracer's mind to rest and recover."
Just then the computer started beeping, gaining everyone's attention as Agent Fowler popped up on screen.
"Prime," the human liaison said, "spotted any decepticons wearing hula skirts maybe?"
"No, Agent Fowler," Optimus said, "why?"
"Because I was hoping you'd have a lead on the cons who busted into the Kauai Naval Observatory. The place looked like it was hit by an army of wrecking balls."
"Why would the cons break into an observatory?" Arcee asked.
"Does the Heuck Nigoghossian ring any bells?" Fowler asked.
"No, but I have a feeling Raf would know that one," Sierra said.
"It's a space telescope," Fowler said, "and as of last night, missing its primary lens."
"It's difficult to guess Starscream's intent without knowing where the lens has been taken," Optimus said.
"Good thing the lens has a tracking device," the agent said.
The screen then showed the coordinates to where the lens was taken.
"The Arctic?" Arcee said, not too happy, "great. Another chance to freeze our spark plugs off."
The screen then zoomed in on a large energon reading, making Bulkhead whistle.
"That's a ND-7 class," he said, "biggest unminable energon deposit there is."
"Unminable until Starscream melts his way down to it," Optimus said.
"With the help of the lens," Arcee added.
"Melting a glacier that size would cause sea levels to rise and demolish coastal cities," Agent Fowler said.
"We can't let that happen," Bumblebee bleeped.
"And we won't, Bumblebee," Optimus assured him.
Soon after Fowler hung up, the team set off to the Arctic, leaving Ratchet, Sierra, and Stormracer behind.
While Stormracer remained in power-down, Sierra was sitting next to her, telling the femme about what had been going on in her life.
"That last exam you helped me study for blew my parents away," the redhead laughed, "when my mom asked me how I got my grades up, I told her I had a study buddy who was crazy about science."
Seeing Sierra talking to Stormracer, Ratchet made his way over to her. "Sierra, I'm afraid Stormracer can't hear you in power-down mode," he said, "it's getting late. Why don't I bridge you home to your family?"
"No thanks," she said, "I'd rather stay here with Storm. She's family too."
"Don't be absurd," Ratchet said, "you're not even the same species."
"That's being related," Sierra told him, "its not the same thing. Hold on." Pulling out her phone, she brought up a picture of her with an older brown haired boy. "This is me and my older brother, Tyler," she said, showing the picture to Ratchet.
The medic had to kneel down in order to look at it. "Uh hum very nice," he mumbled, not really interested as he stood back up.
"He's in college right now," she said, looking at the picture, "growing up, we would drive each other crazy. We would always get into trouble, argue, fight..."
"Yes, yes," Ratchet mumbled.
Sierra smiled. "But despite our differences, he was always there. Whether to listen to my problems or to help me when I needed help. Stormracer does that for me too. I guess what I'm trying to say is, even though we're very different, I see her as a big sister."
The medic looked at Stormracer before looking back at Sierra, giving her a small smile. "I see," he said.
Ratchet then walked away as Sierra pulled out a magazine to show Stormracer, unaware that the femme's finger twitched.
(Inside Stormracer's mind)
Now dreaming, Stormracer was in her own laboratory as she studied a formula she had made.
"Whoa," she said, looking through the microscope. Looking at the monitor right next to her, she felt like something was missing. "It still needs something," she thought out loud. Just then her optics lit up. "I know!"
Grabbing the rest of the formula in the beaker, she made her way over to her work table with other formulas and chemicals scattered on it. Setting the beaker down, she grabbed a flask with a blue substance in it and added a few drops into the formula. The femme then took a step back as she watched it bubble and turn bright yellow. Smiling at her accomplishment, she picked up the beaker and laughed. "This is going to change so many lives."
"A pity none of this is real."
Stormracer's smile disappeared when she heard the familiar voice. Turning around, she gasped when she saw the Decepticon warlord standing there with a smirk on his face.
"Megatron?" she said in shock. The beaker slipped out of her servo and fell to the floor. But instead of the glass shattering, the whole thing disappeared. Stormracer was startled by this as she looked around, soon realizing she was in a dream.
"I'm dreaming," the femme said, now self aware. She then remembered what happened earlier and was now confused. "Wait a minute. Ratchet put me in power-down. How am I dreaming?"
"As if I was going to let a simple power-down stop me," Megatron said.
She looked at him in confusion. "Stop you? What are you talking about? If this is a dream, I can easily make you go away."
Megatron grinned at her. "Are you sure about that?"
"Of course I'm sure," she said with a frown, "if I couldn't, then that would mean-" she stopped mid sentenced as her optics widened. She looked up at the warlord, hoping what she was thinking was wrong. Looking at an empty beaker on the table, she grabbed it and threw it at Megatron. To her horror, it went right through him.
"No," she said gravely, looking back up at him, "you're in my head. You followed me." Everything was starting to make sense to her. "The visions. They're your memories. You're the reason I've been acting strange!"
"And now you know," he said, walking over to her, "unfortunately, you didn't figure it out sooner. Now it's time for you to keep your end of the deal."
"Deal?" she asked, "what deal?"
"Don't you remember?" he asked with a smirk, "you would get the cure to save Optimus. And in return, you would aid in my recovery."
She frowned at him. "I never agreed to that."
"And yet you still got what you wanted," he said, frowning at her, "now its my turn."
"And what if I say no?"
"You think I've been doing nothing this whole time? While I've been in your head, I've learned how to take control over you, making you obey my will. You will help return me to my body, whether you want to or not."
Stormracer frowned at him. "Never."
Just then she felt pain shoot through her head, making her scream as she fell to her knees and held her helm.
Everything disappearing around them, Megatron towered over the femme and laughed as he took control over her.
"I am in control now," he said, "and you... are my puppet."
(Meanwhile)
Still sitting next to her guardian, Sierra read her magazine as Ratchet walked by with the broken device.
"Sierra, I'm going to the supply vault to see if I can find parts to repair this," the medic said, "you know what that means."
"Don't touch anything," Sierra said.
Nodding at her, he walked out of the room.
"Hey, Storm," Sierra said, showing her friend a picture of a model wearing a large feathery dress, "check out this crazy outfit." She chuckled as she turned back around. "What some people come up with."
Just then Stormracer's optics opened as she looked around the room.
Hearing movement, Sierra looked up from her magazine and gasped when she saw Stormracer stepping out of the machine.
"Storm?" she asked.
The femme didn't respond as she went to the groundbridge and put in a set of coordinates.
"Stormracer?!" Sierra exclaimed as she rushed over to her. The bot only ignored her and made her way through the groundbridge.
Seeing Stormracer disappearing through the portal, Ratchet rushed over to the human. "What did you do?!" he asked Sierra.
"I didn't do anything!" she said, "Storm just woke up and-"
"She was in power-down," Ratchet said, "where does she think she's off to?"
(Elsewhere)
Megatron controlling her, Stormracer frowned as she looked around the battlefield. All she could see were terrorcon bodies scattered around.
"Where is it?" Megatron asked in her helm, "where?"
A flashback appeared in her head, showing her Megatron throwing a piece of dark energon into the ground to raise his army. She looked over at the spot and saw the glowing purple shard sticking in the ground. Making her way over, she picked it up and looked at it as an evil grin formed on her face.
(Autobot Base)
Meanwhile, Ratchet and Sierra were trying to figure out where the assistant groundbridged herself to. Ratchet was at the groundbridge computer while Sierra stood on the platform in front of him.
"These are the coordinates for the site of our previous battle with Megatron's undead," Ratchet said.
"We should call Optimus," Sierra said.
"Optimus is busy preventing a polar ice cap from melting," the medic told her, "we need to handle this on our own."
Firing up the groundbridge, Ratchet was about to depart until Stormracer walked in from the other side.
"Stormracer?" Ratchet asked as she entered, "what have you been doing?"
She didn't say a word as she kept walking. Ratchet finally grabbed her by the arm and held it up, seeing what she brought back.
"Dark energon?" the medic said in shock as he looked up at his assistant.
Glaring at the medic, Stormracer brought her fist back and punched Ratchet with much force, making him fall to the floor.
"Storm, what are you doing?!" Sierra asked her friend in shock.
The femme looked at the girl and walked over to her. Sierra immediately could tell by the expression on her face that this was not her friend at all. But before the autobot could hurt the human, Sierra noticed Stormracer's optics changing for a moment as she stopped. Frowning, the femme picked up the girl and carried her over to the large vent high up in the wall.
"Storm, snap out of it!" Sierra told her, "you have to fight whatever is making you do this!"
Stormracer only placed her on the ledge. Putting in a new set of coordinates, she ran through the groundbridge and disappeared.
Ratchet groaned as he came to.
"Ratchet, are you okay?" Sierra asked him.
"I'm fine," Ratchet told her as he got back up, "more importantly, is Stormracer? I fear the time spent in Megatron's mindscape is causing her to think like a decepticon."
"She's not a con!" Sierra argued, "whatever just happened was not her."
"Agreed," Ratchet said as he let Sierra sit in his servo, "but we need to find out exactly what Stormracer intends to do with that shard." He was halfway back to the groundbridge until he stopped, realizing something. "The only one who knew of the dark energon… was Megatron."
"Are you saying Stormracer has Megatron's memories?" Sierra asked him.
"Worse," he said with a frown, "Megatron is occupying Stormracer's mind."
"What?!" the girl exclaimed as Ratchet continued walking.
"How could I have been such a fool?" he said as he placed Sierra back on the platform, "the cortical psychic patch acted as a two-way conduit. When Stormracer returned to her own mind, Megatron followed." He looked at the coordinates the femme put in. "And now Stormracer- Megatron, has bridged nearly to the same coordinates Optimus used." Firing up the groundbridge, he looked at the human. "Stay here," he said as he turned to leave.
"No!" the red head argued, "Storm needs me."
Ratchet paused for a moment before looking back at her. "Of course she does," he said.
Placing Sierra on his shoulder, Ratchet rushed through the groundbridge. It wasn't long until they found themselves on the Nemesis.
"The decepticon warship," Ratchet said.
Sierra held on as the medic rushed down the hall and around a corner. There they saw three disabled vehicons laying on the floor leading to the lab.
"Did Stormracer do this?" Sierra asked.
"I fear Megatron's mind is dominant," Ratchet said, "and clearly he came for one purpose. To use the dark energon to resurrect his own body."
"No," Sierra said, "Stormracer won't let him, just like she didn't let him hurt me back at the base."
"I hope you're right."
Ratchet then set Sierra on the floor and motioned for her to stay as he quietly made his way to the lab. Peaking around the doorway, he saw Stormracer connecting the cortical psychic patch into the back of her helm, the other end already connected to Megatron's. Having to act quick, Ratchet ran over to her.
Hearing someone approaching, Stormracer turned around just as Ratchet tackled her to the floor, making her let go of the shard. Growling, she swatted the medic off of her and got back up. Ratchet came at her again, only for her to give him one hard punch, knocking him to the floor.
Having dealt with him, Stormracer picked up the shard and went to proceed.
"Stormracer, no!"
The femme turned around to see the human girl running over to her.
"This isn't you!" Sierra told her, "remember who you are. Remember me. Come on, Storm, you know me."
Seeing her friend, Stormracer immediately fought back. Finally back in control, she looked at the human again. "Sierra?"
Sierra smiled. "Yeah, Storm. It's me."
Stormracer smiled back. But it didn't last long as Megatron started to regain control. She tried to fight back, but soon found herself screaming in pain as she held her helm and fell to the floor.
"Storm!" Sierra said worryingly as she rushed over to her.
The femme looked up and glared at her. Megatron back in control, Stormracer flicked the girl away and made her skid across the floor. Looking over, she saw Ratchet grabbing hold of the life support connected to Megatron's chest.
"Farewell, Megatron," Ratchet said before yanking out the cable.
Stormracer immediately got up and attacked the medic. Ratchet was able to dodge her punch, but she still managed to grab hold of him and flip him over her shoulder, making him hit the floor hard.
Seeing Ratchet down, Sierra got up and tried to reach out to her friend again. "Stormracer!"
The femme stopped and turned to look at the human girl. A chill went up Sierra's spine as Megatron spoke through Stormracer.
"Stormracer can't hear you anymore."
Soon as Stormracer turned her back on the redhead, Sierra scowled as she ran over to her. "As much as I want you to leave Stormracer's body, I'm not letting you go back to your own!" she exclaimed as she grabbed the cortical psychic patch cable and tried to pull on it.
Rolling her optics, Stormracer grabbed the cable and flicked it, making Sierra let go and fall backwards.
Both the medic and human down, Stormracer made her way to Megatron's side and plunged the dark energon into his spark chamber. Stepping back down, she watched the dark energon revive his body before she felt complete control over herself again. She couldn't help but groan as she held her helm.
"Stormracer!" Ratchet said worryingly as he rushed over to her. Immediately he removed the patch from behind her helm and checked to make sure she was alright.
"Uh, bots?" Sierra said nervously as she pointed.
Both looking at where she's pointing, their optics widened when they saw Megatron getting up, making the three step away as he walked forward. It wasn't long until a group of vehicons rushed in and saw their leader back on his pedes.
Stopping in place, Megatron looked at his subordinates. "Decepticons… your rightful lord and master has returned." He then looked down at the trio and sneered. "Finish these pests!" he ordered as he walked towards the exit, "I have my own extermination to perform."
Watching their master leave the room, the shocked vehicons looked back at the intruders and began firing.
Shielding the human from the oncoming firepower, Stormracer picked up Sierra and followed Ratchet out of the room and away from the vehicons. They didn't stop until they were outside the ship, seeing that they were high in the air.
"Over there," Ratchet said, pointing at the icy cliff. Making their way over, the two bots leaped off the warship and onto the ice. They soon made it to the bottom, allowing the three to sigh/vent in relief. Hearing a sound up in the sky, they looked up and saw Megatron intercepting Starscream in his jet mode, taking him straight back to the warship.
"Ooh I feel so sorry for Starscream right now," Stormracer said with a shudder.
Ratchet looked at the two. "Are you both alright?"
"I am," Sierra said as Stormracer set her down.
"Stormracer?"
Looking up at the warship, Stormracer shamefully looked down.
"I'm sorry," she apologized, "I should have told you something was wrong sooner. Megatron is back because of me. This is my fault."
Ratchet walked over to the femme and placed his servo on her shoulder. "This is not your fault," he told her, "it's Megatron's."
"And so what if he's back," Sierra said, "like that's going to stop Team Prime."
Stormracer gave her a small smile before looking back at Ratchet. "I'm sorry I hurt you. I didn't want to hurt anyone."
"I know," he said. He then smiled at her. "I'm just glad to have my assistant back."
Smiling back at the medic, Stormracer immediately hugged him, startling him at first before he hugged her back.
"Thanks for coming after me," she said, "both of you."
Seeing the warship leaving the area, the trio made their way over to the others when they heard Optimus trying to contact base.
"Ratchet, we need a bridge," the Prime said.
"You're not the only ones," Ratchet said.
Surprised, the bots looked over to see Ratchet, Stormracer, and Sierra making their way over to them, the girl even giving them a wave.
(Later - Autobot Base)
Soon as the bots and Sierra made it back to base, Ratchet gave Stormracer a check up, making sure she was a hundred percent okay. After giving her a scan in the machine, he deactivated it and allowed the femme to step out.
"Everything's back to normal," he said.
Stormracer let out a vent of relief. "Phew! That's a load off my mind."
Arcee groaned at the femme's joke. "She's back alright."
Stormracer chuckled. Looking down at Sierra, she knelt down in front of her. "Hey," she said, "thanks for not giving up on me."
The redhead smiled and placed her hand on her servo. "You're welcome."
"And again, sorry about earlier," the teal femme said.
"Don't be," Sierra told her, "it wasn't you." She then chuckled, "besides, you're too much of a softy to be evil."
Stormracer chuckled at her as she put her servos on her hips. "Oh am I?" Putting on her best evil expression, the femme let out an evil laugh. "Muahahaha! All the cat videos in the universe shall be mine! Ahahaha!"
Sierra and the other kids only laughed at her terrible acting while Bumblebee and Bulkhead chuckled off to the side.
Watching his assistant goofing off made Ratchet roll his optics. But that didn't stop him from smiling. After everything that had happened, he was happy to see Stormracer back to her usual positive self.
And that was Out of his Head! I hope you liked it. Next chapter is Shadowzone. I do plan to type out a chapter that focuses on Stormracer and Knock Out, but I'm still debating if I should do it before, or after Operation: Breakdown. Let me know your thoughts on that.
Anyways, thanks for reading. Until next time! God bless!
