We're back on chapter twenty-eight.

REMINDER: I DO NOT OWN LEGEND OF KORRA OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS.

Back to the Eastern Air Temple, where Korra, Tenzin, Kya, Bumi and Jinora were riding atop Oogi while following the dragonfly bunny spirits.

Bumi was holding a blue-coloured spirit, chuckling. "Oh, you are just so cute. I'm going to name you Bum-Ju. It's short for 'Bumi Junior'." He places the spirit beside him, to Tenzin. "Don't you think he looks like me?"

"The resemblance is uncanny." Tenzin said without looking back.

"I think Dad's mad at me." Jinora said sadly, next to her aunt.

"Your father's not mad. His pride's just a little bruised since he isn't able to see spirits like you." Kya said.

"She's right, Jinora. You've been doing a great job." Kaori said.

"You have a natural gift. That's pretty lucky." Korra said.

"You're the lucky one. You actually got to meet the first Avatar. I know about a lot of Avatars, but I don't know anything about him. Is it even a him? Or is it her?" Jinora asked.

"It's a him, Avatar Wan. He was amazing. I saw how he became the first Avatar by fusing with Raava, the Spirit of Light."

"The Avatar is part spirit? Of course! Just like the statue." Jinora said.

"What statue?" Kya asked.

"When we were at the Southern Air Temple, I was drawn to this old carving. I couldn't figure out what it was until now. It was the first Avatar."

"When did this happen?" Kya asked.

"It was on the solstice." Jinora answered.

"That's the day I opened the Southern portal." Korra said.

Korra and Kya were amazed. "Whoa."

Oogi lands. "We're here!"

"Are you sure these spirits are leading us into the right place?" Tenzin asked.

"Of course! I trust Bum-Ju with my life." Bumi said.

The dragonfly bunny spirits lead the group to a circle surrounded by rocks. The rocks were overgrown with vines and have an airbending symbol on it.

"Look. There are carvings on them." Korra said.

"This is an ancient airbender meditation circle." Tenzin said.

"There's a lot of spiritual energy in this place, but it feels really strange." Jinora said.

"We'll have to perform a spiritual cleansing ceremony." Tenzin said.

"What are you talking about?" Bumi asked.

"Dad taught it to me. This site has been neglected for many years. A cleansing ceremony will help strengthen its connections to the Spirit World."

The group seats down in a meditative stance. Tenzin bends the smoke from an incense burner, encircling the group. As the smoke approaches the dragonfly bunny spirits, they fly off.

"Good job, you cleansed the area of the only spirits that want to help us, and you scared away Bum-Ju." Bumi said annoyed.

Tenzin ignores his brother and continues bending the smoke. As he bends the third circle, the ground around rumbles. "It's working." he said.

The other members of the group look on in fear as the rumbling strengthens. The center of the circle suddenly opens and swarms of bat-like dark spirits fly out. The spirits fly out into the sky before swarming toward the group.

"Ah! Bats! Evil bats!" Bumi shouts before everyone retreats to the rocks for cover.

"Not bats. Dark spirits." Korra said.

The dark spirits fly out and back into the circle. Korra and Tenzin attempt to bend at the spirits, but they manage to overwhelm their bending abilities and fly back to the circle, causing everyone to cower to the ground.

"What are we supposed to do?" Tenzin asked.

Korra follows the dark spirits and runs to the circle. She meditates before waterbending at them, trapping them in an enclosure. She purifies the spirits, causing them to glow gold.

Kya shield her eyes from the glow. "Amazing."

Outside of the circle where the purified spirits dissipate in a golden glow. The overgrowing vegetation on the circle eventually retreats and disappears.

"Your spiritual training has come a long way." Tenzin said.

"Unalaq may be a horrible person, but his spirit powers are no joke." Korra said.

Tenzin feels ashamed. "He taught you how to transform dark spirits. I can't even get you into the Spirit World."

"Everything Unalaq taught me was to help himself. Everything you've done was meant to help me. I am so sorry for turning my back on you as my mentor. I need you now more than ever."

"I won't let you down." Tenzin said as Korra walks up to her mentor and hugs him.

Tenzin's family looks on with pride, while his sister was wiping off a tear.

"The ancient airbenders must have built this site. If we meditate here, we'll be able to enter the Spirit World." Tenzin said.

"Why don't you go first?" Korra asked.

"After all these years, my father's dreams for me will finally come true."

Meanwhile, back to Republic City, inside Mako's apartment, where Mako was looking through multiple documents when a knock on the door was heard.

Mako opens the door to see Asami waiting.

"Hi." She walks in.

"What brings you here?" Mako asked.

Asami places hand on Mako's shoulders. "I just wanted to come by to make sure you're okay. You seemed so agitated earlier."

"I'm fine." Mako said.

"Maybe you need a night off. Why don't we go get some dinner?" Asami said.

"No, thanks. I'm a little busy." Mako said.

"Too busy for Kwong's Cuisine? Remember? We had our first date there."

"Maybe I do need to get my mind off things." Mako said.

"Mako, who do you think is behind it all?" Asami asked.

Someone was banging the door. "Police!" It was Lu.

Mako opens the door, revealing him to be with Chief Lin Beifong, Gang, and President Raiko.

"Hey, Mako. Hope we didn't interrupt you two lovebirds." Lu said.

"What's going on?" Mako asked.

"We busted some Triple Threats who said you hired them for a job." Lu replied before Gang opens a wardrobe.

Mako sighs. "All right. It's true. We were trying to figure out who stole Asami's stuff, so we hired them for a sting operation. I'm sorry for going behind your back." Mako said before Gang closes the wardrobe, while Lu opens a shelf.

"According to the Triple Threats, you did more than that. They said you helped them steal a warehouse full of Future Industries property." Raiko said.

"That's crazy!" Asami said.

"You're gonna believe a bunch of criminals, Mr President?" Mako asked in disbelief.

"I have to follow up on a lead." Lu said before Gang opens a box.

Lu holds a bag. "Well, looky what I found: Cash..." He reaches in and pulls out explosives. "And these."

"What are you doing with explosives, Mako?" Beifong asked.

"I don't know where those came from." Mako said.

Gang handcuffs Mako. "You're under arrest."

"None of that is mine." Mako said defensively.

"Yeah. Should've known you'd hook up with your old pals. Once a Triple Threat, always a Triple Threat." Gang said blankly.

"This has to be a mistake." Asami said.

"Sorry to break the news to you, sweetie, but your boyfriend's just a crooked cop. That sting operation was just a way to lure you away from your warehouse." Lu said.

Gang chuckles. "He was using you the whole time." Asami looks on in disbelief and confusion.

"I am surprised at you, Mako. I graduated you for informing me of Korra's plans, and this is the thanks I get? You are fired." Raiko said.

"That's not true, Asami. I would never do anything to hurt you." Mako said as he was being escorted off.

Asami was not convinced Mako was the one doing the crimes. She knew he had leads on the true culprits. Unknown to her, Raiko chuckled with a sinister smile, and his shadow was shaped with his true form as Sarlaq.

Sarlaq framed Mako! Will he expose him?

Chapter twenty-nine is coming.
