Author's note: I was always very intrigued by Clark's absurd excuses and the little ways he sneaks in his superpowers. And even more intrigued by how the characters always turn around just in time or can wave it off. But I always felt that there must be a lot going on in Lois' head for most of season two. It's where she slowly becomes to terms with her attraction to Clark. Where she sees him actually show interest in another woman. As Lois' and Clark's friendship further grows I have always felt that Lois would be analysing her the situation before her. And therefore also pay close attention to Clark. Here's my take on what would've happened if she did.
N.B. Obvs don't own this.
I haven't written like this in ages. Probably in literally ten years. And that was always in my native language, never in English. I may be a bit rusty haha!

Incident #1 - The arrest of Baby Rage
Lois and Clark were driving through the long rows of slow traffic, when they were rudely interrupted by Lois' growling stomach. The angry sound perfectly matched the look on her face, with her eyes shooting daggers at the cars in front of her. Clark quietly laughed to himself, knowing that even a hint of a smile would award him a scowl from his partner next to him. When the traffic light turned green Lois started to aggressively hoot along with the other drivers.
'Lois, I'm sure the car in front of us is just as unable to move as we are.', Clark tried in his calmest voice.
'It's the middle of fricking day, what are people doing here out on the street?! Shouldn't they be at work or school or whatever?', she bit the comment as she put the car to an abrupt halt again when the traffic light turned red again. At least now they were the first car in the row.
'We are out as well. People are probably commuting places. Picking children up from school. Going out for lunch. Whatever their reasons, it won't make it go faster, we may as well be patient with the traffic.', Clark tried to calm her with reason, but it only awarded him an eye roll.
'Oh Namaste. Remind me to pick up a subscription to your Buddhist magazine so I can learn about all these great wisdoms.', she said sarcastically, drumming her fingers impatiently at her steering wheel. Another growl interrupted her death stare towards the red light that refused to turn green.
'Perhaps we should stop somewhere. Get some lunch, a nice coffee and then head back to the Planet. That seems like a nice place.', Clark pointed at the corner ahead. 'Look, we were gonna take lunch first when we get in anyways. There's no point in being stuck in traffic here, whilst we can eat first and wait for the traffic to die down.', he soon elaborated when Lois opened her mouth to contradict him.
She looked him in the eyes and saw his pleading look. In all her irritation she forgot that he should probably be just as hungry as she was. With a sigh she finally started to agree, but was soon interrupted by the hooters behind her.
'Actually my uncle has a little café not too far from here. It's really good and I haven't visited him in way too long. Let me just take a right here.'
Clark looked around the shabby neighbourhood the café was in. And by the look on Lois' face, he could tell it didn't always look like this.
As soon as they arrived a short and friendly looking man hurried outside.
'Lois honey is that you?', he asked her with a big smile before he wrapped her in his arms for a big hug. After the hug ended, he glanced questioningly to her side.
'Oh sorry, Uncle Mike this is my partner.', she started her introduction of Clark. 'At the Planet! Partner on my stories.', she hurriedly added when uncle Mike for a moment gave her a fatherly, approving glance about her partner. 'Uhm, this is Clark Kent. Clark this is my Uncle Mike.'
The men shook hands before Lois took a seat at one of the tables. Only one other couple was sitting down, nibbling on the last crumbles of their lunch.
'Sit down, let me get you a menu.', Mike instructed.
They sat through lunch quite happily swapping stories. Lois noticed how easy Clark fit in with her family members and always made them feel like he had known them long before. She liked that she was able to sit back and enjoy her lunch without having to act like the lynchpin throughout their conversation. When she was sipping her large coffee afterwards, she noticed she felt human again. That was when her dear Uncle Mike walked out with desert to surprise his two special guests.
'Chocolate tart, raspberry sauce.', he said knowing very well how to persuade his niece with her favourite dessert.
'Oh Uncle Mike, no.', she lamely refused, but saw the massive grin forming on Clark's face whilst he enthusiastically nodded his head. Lois smiled at the adorable sparkle in his eyes, as if he was allowed extra sweets on his birthday. Like a happy child, he dove for his for and took a big bite out of his tart.
'Okay, maybe I could move into my gym for a month.', Lois gave in with a smile that matched the men in front of her.
'Oh, this is fantastic.', Clark thoroughly enjoyed himself. He savoured the sweet cake in his mouth and closed his eyes when he did.
'He does all the baking himself.', Lois praised her uncle.
'Well, lately it's more of a hobby than a job.', Mike sighed sadly.
'I just don't understand what has happened to this neighbourhood.', Clark commented looking around once more.
'Well, the neighbourhood is in transition.' said Mike. 'Getting more eclectic. It's kinda like Saigon without the jets.'
That moment the raspberry sauce, which Uncle Mike had richly covered their chocolate torts in, decided to drip from Clark's fork and right onto his tie. He was sure it had looked as clumsy as it had felt. Mentally shaking his head at himself, that even his superreflexes couldn't have prevented the accident.
'Oh, you better get some water on that. Dap, don't wipe.', Lois offered when Clark got one of the paper napkins and started to wipe the deep, red sauce off.
Feeling slightly embarrassed about the accident, he excused himself to the bathrooms. Even though he told himself how this would save him some lame stumble later to keep up his image: Clark Kent the bespectacled, smart, but very oblivious and clumsy reporter. Or at least when it suited him.
Heeding Lois' words, he dapped his tie with water in the bathroom in the back. That was when he saw a kid with a device that looked suspiciously like a bomb.
'So you two are just partners?', Mike asked his niece when he was sure Clark was out of earshot.
Lois tried to suppress an embarrassed laugh and focussed on picking her chocolate tort. 'We're very good friends as well.'
Uncle Mike nodded his head knowingly. 'Sure, if you say so, kid.'
He started to smile at his little niece when suddenly flames erupted inside he beloved café.
As he started to run towards the fire, a young boy ran out only to be caught by Superman who had suddenly appeared.
Lois ran towards the scene when she saw Superman grab the young man more aggressively than she was used to from him. He blew out the fire and bend the handle of a big bin to cuff his hands.
'Man, you just stepped over the line. You going down!', he angrily spit in Superman's face.
'You're the only one going anywhere. And I hope for your sake, you don't mind showering in groups.', he bit back while he ruffed his shoulder, before he flew off. Watching him go, Lois was sure, she hadn't seen Superman in such a mood for a while. Also he flew off without saying a word. Making her wonder if he had seen her at the café at all.
'That little punk tried to burn me down!', Mike started to realise what had just happened.
'You can't prove that man!', even restricted by the handcuff he hadn't lost his fire. 'Can't prove nothing, 'cause nobody saw a thing.'
At that last comment Lois' head raised up looking for Clark. A sudden rise of panic overtook her as she mentally slapped herself. How could Clark not have been the first thing on her mind as the fire erupted? Surely Superman got there fast enough and had once again distracted her. She looked around the building when she saw Clark jogging outside. She closed her eyes and let out a shaky breath.
'I did', she hear Superman's steely voice say. Her eyes snapped open as she turned her head towards Clark. She saw him roll his eyes at something at pushed his glasses closer to his face. Wait, was he just putting them on?
'He's part of the local gang. The Skins.', Mike said looking at the guy that they had caught.
'I'm gonna call the police.', Lois said in a far away voice as her mind tried to pull back the picture of Clark jogging outside a few seconds ago.
She felt a big hand kneading her left shoulder. Probably it was Clark trying to calm her from her shock. Not knowing what her mind was actually reeling from.
'Get your shoes off and get comfortable, sweety. Last time I called, it took them two hours.', the anger and frustration started to become evident in his voice.
Lois stubbornly grabbed her phone from her bag. She slightly turned around and saw Clark pulling at the knot of his tie. Was that blue she saw under there or was she now just seeing ghosts now? Confused by the wheels turning in her head, she slapped his hand away from her shoulder. He was the cause of the question marks forming one by one in her head. So she needed space.
'Hi, I'd like to report an arson. This is Lois Lane, I-. The put me on hold!'
'Lois Lane?', the boy they tried to rapport, laughed suddenly. 'You're Lois Lane?'
'Have we met?', she asked. She still heard the familiar beep of the line being on hold in her ear. The other people suddenly seemed to be just as on edge as she was staring at the cuffed thug.
'Oh no, we haven't met. This is funny because uh… You dead.', he dramatically spoke, enjoying how he piqued their attention.
Lois felt Clark moving behind her. He again put his hand protectively on her shoulder whilst he placed the other on his hip. She felt the growing anger starting to radiate off of him.
'I know you're walking around and everything, lady, but trust me. Go on and pick yourself a nice grave. And from what I hear, pick it out fast.'
At that moment Lois felt Clark moving past her. She laid her hand on his chest and was effective in stopping him. He glared angrily at the guy, who only seemed amused by this.
Luckily, someone finally put her through and she was able to get a car to pick the young gang member up.
Her heart hammered in her chest and her mind was working at a thousand miles an hour.
'Let's sit down until the car gets here.', Uncle Mike said as he guided Lois and Clark to some chairs. 'You two keep an eye on him, whilst I check the damage.'
Instead of watching the thug as promised Lois found Clarks concerned eyes staring directly into hers. It caused her stomach to do a little flip. His eyes were hard, but had a softness buried in them. A softness she felt he only reserved for her and made her feel special. Exactly like him. Superman. But that couldn't be. He didn't even look like Superman. Or did he? There was a resemblance. Was her mind just playing tricks on her.
Mistaking her worried and confused expression, Clark stepped in to calm her. 'I'm sure he's just trying to scare us after failing himself. We'll get the police to lock him up, the insurance company will pay your uncle for damages and it will all pass.' It seemed more like he was trying to calm and assure himself than her at this point.
'Please Lois talk to me. It scares me when you are quiet.', he pleaded taking her hand that was on the table.
At that Lois mentally shook herself from the ridiculous thoughts spinning in her head. The scene just now all happened very fast and her mind just blended some things together, she decided. That's just what minds do.
'Sorry I was just thinking. Perhaps there's a bigger story here. I mean the whole neighbourhood is falling apart and nobody's saying anything.' Changing the topic to work was always safe. Clark gave her hand a little squeeze and nodded in agreement.
That was the moment a lone police car drove up the street. Lois frowned and got up to meet the officers.
'One car? Just the two of you?', she asked raising her eyebrow.
'Are you the one that called for arson m'am?', one of the officers asked, whilst the other took a look at the guy that Superman had trapped earlier.
'Yes, Lois Lane. I'm the one that called. But this is a crime scene. Shouldn't you close off the premises? Try to find what he used to start the fire? Take note of the damage?', Lois started her verbal attack.
'M'am you said there was a witness?', the officer asked without responding to the questions Lois had fired at him.
'Yes, I'm the witness. Clark Kent. I was in the bathroom in the back when it happened. I saw him handling some sort of device. It sounded like it had a timer that he set off.', Clark joined the conversation. The officer scribbled down some notes. In the meantime, his colleague had freed the gang member and was escorting him to the car.
'Mister Kent would you mind coming down to the station for your formal testimony?'
'That's it? You're not gonna take our statements? Or perhaps check the welfare of the owner or anything?', Lois spewed at him. The man seemed unaware that his ignoring her only further sparked her anger.
'Thank you for you doing your civic duty m'am by calling us.', he only answered her. 'If you, Mister Kent and the owner would come down to the station we can take the statements and handle any paperwork needed for the insurance company.' Clark sensed that questions would lead nowhere with these guys, so he merely nodded.
Before the young thug was pushed inside, he made eye contact with Lois and laughed.
Lois only sighed. 'Let's check up on Uncle Mike and take him to the station.'
