Waves violently thrashing her body around threatening to pull her under. The cold sea, mixed with the icy November breeze, starting to feel familiar, almost warm. She could feel herself slipping, ready to let the earth swallow her. She felt she had done enough; her mark on this world would go unnoticed by most. Leaving this way, at the will of the planet that birthed her, would be infinitely better than the latter. Lifeless eyes peered down at her from the cliffside, observing her final moments after months of playing cat and mouse with each other. Neither would die at the hands of the other. Quite pathetic she had spent her last months working trying to exorcise him only to die from a mistake she should have avoided – one she could have avoided. Nonetheless, there she was, "fighting" for her life in the deep sea while he watched her, not making any indication that he would end her suffering himself. But simply staring at her with the same bored expression she had grown so used to seeing. Yet, the months of pent-up rage and hatred she felt for him started to slip away. Maybe it was the cool water nipping at her skin or the fact that she was on the cusp of death, but she felt comfortable looking into his eyes, knowing that would be her last memory in her lifetime. Maybe she didn't get the job done, but she had damn well tried, and that was good enough for her. She began to let go, no longer urging herself to stay afloat, embracing the waves and falling into them. As her body descended, her eyes closed, and she immersed herself in the tranquility that the surrounding stillness offered, the world around her faded into nothingness. Yet, she felt a stern hand grasp hers, but it was too late - the world had gone black.
