For this fanfic I'm making a Pokemon/Demon Slayer fanfic! I've heard someone compare Zenitsu to a sleeping Pikachu, so why not?
It's based on a roleplay I'm doing.
Let me know what you think.
And yes, I'll be telling the person I'm roleplaying with about it.
Chapter 1: A Bad Beginning
In his youth, Tanjiro had experienced a terrible tragedy.
His father had died from an illness. Unfortunately, the doctors could not cure him. They were very sorry.
Tanjiro could find solace in the fact that his father was no longer in pain, but things seemed that much worse with him gone. The family just wasn't the same. And it didn't help that he was the breadwinner.
But on the lighter side of things, he managed to get a job selling charcoal.
His family could still make a living this way.
However, he couldn't help but worry he would meet the same fate as his father.
Alternatively, it could happen to one of his family members.
That frightened him even more. He sure didn't want his sister to have to go to the hospital.
But as it turned out, luck was on his side.
A vaccine had been invented by a doctor that could counteract the illness.
Even more fortunately, it was affordable too. Even for them.
Tanjiro and his family had gone to the big city and had accepted the vaccine.
He had made sure to thank the lady for her kindness. If only the vaccine had been invented before his father had fallen ill.
Though for some reason, he only saw her during the night.
Was she not a day person?
Tanjiro decided that he would go for a swim afterwards.
While there, he met a wild Squirtle.
The two of them got along well.
So he decided to adopt him.
Luckily, Pokeballs had been invented.
The two of them became friends.
One of the side effects of the vaccine was that for some reason, Tanjiro never felt thirsty.
He did drink occasionally though, just to make sure that he stayed hydrated.
He also healed faster than normal. But Tanjiro decided not to question that.
For a time, Tanjiro lived a wonderful (if not luxurious) life.
But one day, as Tanjiro left to do his job, he received a warning from a man.
Apparently, there were demons in this world that preyed on humans. They never slept, and they hunted humans at night.
He found it most unusual. Was it a scary story that the man invented to prevent him from leaving during the night? Admittedly, a man had once suggested a curfaw law be set in place. He had orange hair.
Now that he thought of it, he saw something burning in his house. Did it ward off demons?
Well, it wouldn't hurt to stay at his house for the night, just in case.
Little did he know that this would be the last day that he saw almost his entire family alive.
When he returned home, he could tell that something was wrong.
Things were eerily quiet.
The lights were not on, even though his mother was expecting him to come home.
There was an awful smell coming from the house as well. Tanjiro actually didn't need his powerful nose to tell that.
Nothing, however, could prepare him for what he was about to find inside.
Tanjiro opened the door...
...and gasped in horror.
His entire family was dead!
At least, that was what he thought.
"Oh my god!" screamed Tanjiro.
He left the house in a hurry, hyperventilating.
Afterwards, he dropped to his knees.
"This can't be happening!" exclaimed Tanjiro.
Unfortunately, it was.
It was a living nightmare.
Tanjiro wondered what could have caused this. Looking at the house, he discovered something alarming.
Somebody had broken into through the window.
And the footprints he found did not match that of a Pokemon. At least, not any Pokemon he had seen. So this was not a wild Pokemon attack.
This was clearly a killing spree done by a murderer. They were human footprints.
"Who could do this to my family?!" exclaimed Tanjiro.
They were well-liked by those around them, so there were no obvious suspects.
Suddenly, he discovered Squirtle.
Squirtle's face was very pale indeed.
"Squirtle squirtle!" exclaimed Squirtle.
"You survived?" asked Tanjiro.
That was a relief. He didn't know what he would do if he found himself all alone in the world.
Squirtle explained that he had hid during the attack. Though it appeared that the family has been the targets.
"Did you see anything?" questioned the teenage boy.
Squirtle nodded. He had seen a strange man wearing a hat the night of the murder.
There was something about him that scared him. He didn't look like he was a resident of the village. So why had he come there?
'Was he a demon?" asked Tanjiro. He expected demons to look like monsters, but he wasn't ruling out that possibility. Perhaps what he has been told was true.
Squirtle wasn't sure. Though he hadn't seen him during the daytime.
He wasn't what he expected a demon to look like.
Although...he did have pale skin, which was a bit unusual.
"Is this it? Am I all alone...aside from you?" asked Tanjiro. The loneliness was already starting to sneak in.
Squirtle then answered that he had heard breathing coming from the house.
"Is someone still alive?" questioned the teenage boy.
As it turned out, his sister Nezuko was.
She was not dead, merely unconscious.
Tanjiro sighed in relief.
Someone had survived the massacre after all. That was definitely an upside to all this.
"Perhaps she could tell me about who did this...once she wakes up." noted Tanjiro. The more information he has about who did this, the better. The police had to know about this.
He decided to wait for her to do so.
Although, perhaps he should find someone that would be willing to adopt him.
He wasn't sure how he could survive without his mother. Even if he had become independent somewhat.
However, Squirtle felt frightened of Nezuko for some reason.
Before he thought that Nezuko was a wonderful girl. The two had played together more than once.
But he got the feeling something was wrong about her now.
He was right to trust his instinct.
When Nezuko woke up, she suddenly bit into Tanjiro.
"Aahh!" exclaimed Tanjiro. He didn't recall his sister having such sharp teeth.
Luckily, the bite was not deep.
Still, the fact that his sister had attacked him was a shocker to bw sure. Though this was not decidedly not the only shocking thing that has happened to Tanjiro recently.
"Squirtle squirtle!" bellowed the panicked Squirtle.
What had gotten into Nezuko?
He then noticed that his sister had changed into appearance.
Had his sister...become a demon?
After what had happened to his family, anything seemed possible.
Tanjiro pushed his sister off him.
However, she attempted to bite him again.
"Nezuko, stop! We're siblings!" exclaimed Tanjiro. Surely she had not forgotten that after all these years.
Nezuko continued to attack.
Tanjiro attempted to defend himself without hurting her.
Nezuko grabbed his arms.
Suddenly, some droplets of water came off his hands.
He was sweating very hard.
Nezuko suddenly stopped attacking.
"Tan...jiro?" asked Nezuko.
She let go of him.
"Are you back to normal?" questioned Tanjiro.
Nezuko looked around.
It seemed that she did not remember what she had been doing.
She then noticed their house and the broken window.
It was disturbing.
"Did someone...break into our house?" asked Nezuko.
She wasn't sure why someone would want to rob them. They weren't exactly a rich family.
"It's worse than that. Somebody's killed our family!" exclaimed Tanjiro.
Nezuko's eyes widened in horror.
She screamed at the top of her lungs.
"This is a living nightmare!" shouted the girl. It was even worse than when their father died.
"It truly is." answered Tanjiro.
It seemed that his worst nightmare had come true.
And to make matters worse, Nezuko had become a demon herself.
This had been a demon attack, no doubt about it.
Well, the only thing that they could do now was to find information about the man that Squirtle had seen prior to the attack.
And to find someone who would take them in, of course.
Little did Tanjiro know that there was a demon slayer nearby.
One of the Hashira, in fact.
He had heard reports that there had been a demon attack.
A family had been killed.
Kagaya had warned him that he needed to protect the citizens.
If he didn't, more people could be at risk.
Luckily, he did not find any signs that the demon was still around.
But he would keep searching just in case. It was definitely better safe than sorry.
As it turned out, he did in fact discover a demon.
That would be Nezuko.
He raised his sword, and launched his attack.
Tanjiro quickly defended himself from him.
The Water Pillar had to admit, that was pretty impressive.
"Stand down. I have to kill that demon for the safety of you and other civilians." ordered Giyu.
"But that's my sister!" exclaimed Tanjiro.
"I'm very sorry. I have no choice." spoke Giyu. If there was another way, he would choose it.
Squirtle squirted him with water...
...but as the Water Hashira, this didn't do much.
"Stand down, Squirtle." instructed the man.
However, Squirtle did not want Nezuko to die either.
'You may be a Pokemon, but you are not safe from demons. They've found a way to shut the door to your hearts." warned Giyu.
Squirtle wasn't sure what that meant, but that did not sound good. He should take that warning seriously.
Still, he couldn't just let this man kill Nezuko.
"Stop this already. You're making this harder than it already is." demanded Giyu.
"You stop!" exclaimed Nezuko.
Suddenly, Giyu noticed that she had put herself between him and her brother.
He had never seen anything like it.
Normally, when someone turned into a demon, they lost their memories of their loved ones...which usually led to tragedy.
But in the case of Nezuko, she still remembered her brother.
"Hmm, perhaps she isn't dangerous at all." noted Giyu.
However, he wasn't going to throw caution to the wind.
That was a good way for a demon slayer to get themselves killed.
"I'll let your sister live...if you can prevent her from eating humans." spoke the man.
"We have a deal!" exclaimed Tanjiro.
Tanjiro shook Giyu's hand.
"If only I could have defended my family from that demon that attacked them..." spoke Tanjiro.
Squirtle wished that he could have done so himself. But he got the feeling the demon was too strong for him. He was kind of a fresh Pokemon. Like a baby Pokemon.
"Actually, there is a way for you to defend yourself and other people from demons." noted Giyu.
"There is?" asked Tanjiro.
Although, an autopsy had determined that they had been killed by demon blood poisoning, which only Muzan and his upper moons could do. He had never met a demon slayer who could kill one.
Still, he didn't want to dash his hopes. He might not be able to avenge his family, but he could at least save others from suffering the same fate his family did.
"Yes. If you wish to protect humans, then you can become a demon slayer." noted Giyu.
"How do I do that?" asked Tanjiro.
Giyu handed Tanjiro a map.
"Use this map to find Urokodaki. He will teach you how to fight demons. But be cautious when traveling at night, for that's when the demons come to hunt." spoke Giyu.
"Why don't they hunt during the day?" asked Tanjiro. Was it because it was easier to see?
"They can't survive the sun." explained the demon slayer.
Tanjiro's eyes widened.
"Nezuko! We have to find you shelter!" exclaimed Tanjiro. He had already lost nis mother and siblings, and he wasn't going to lose her too.
Luckily, it was pretty cloudy at the moment.
But they didn't know how much time they had.
Nezuko frantically looked around.
Luckily, Squirtle found Tanjiro a box.
"I owe you one." spoke Tanjiro.
Nezuko put herself in the box.
Luckily, it seemed she could shrink in size.
He sighed in relief.
Tanjiro left along with his sister and his Squirtle.
"This boy reminds me of myself for some reason. I wonder why?" questioned Giyu.
Hs then turned to his Pokemon.
"Let's get going, Feraligatr." spoke the man.
Feraligatr nodded.
Meanwhile, Tanjiro's family found themselves with their husband…with two exceptions.
"I'm so glad to see you again. But why are you here?" asked the man.
"We were killed by a demon." explained Tanjiro's mother. Though it was on the fence as to why he didn't eat their bodies.
"I'm very sorry. If only I were still alive. I could have protected you." noted Tanjiro's father.
"It's not your fault. That demon was too strong for you to fight." explained Tanjiro's mother.
They would wish their children well.
Hopefully they would find someone who would adopt them.
I took some creative liberties with Tanjiro. He has the power to purify demons in this one. I figure maybe I could make this story less bleak than the canon material this way. It's too bleak for my tastes personally. But since I find the roleplay I'm doing to be fun…
I think there are several demons who can't be purified though. Definitely not Muzan. Tamayo already tried that.
As with other Demon Slayer fanfics, Muzan has pulled a Lord Voldemort on Tanjiro's family. Can they be avenged?
