Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The Truck of Death

At the edge of the known world, where maps fade into smudged ink and borders dissolve into oblivion, there lies a place that defies reason and hope. The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, a remnant of a cataclysmic past, stands as a somber monument to human arrogance and the relentless force of nature.

Years have passed since that fateful April 26, when night turned to ash and the land became a radioactive nightmare. What was once a nuclear power plant now lies in ruins, its legacy embodied in a dead land where radioactivity and the inexplicable intertwine in a macabre dance.

The Zone is not merely a physical space; it is a living entity, a presence that devours the unwary and transforms those who dare to enter its midst. The tales of those who have crossed its borders are stories of desolation and terror, of deformed creatures and paranormal phenomena that defy all logic. It is a place where time seems to stand still, where clocks do not work and hours dissolve into an endless cycle of uncertainty.

In this hostile world, man has become his own enemy. Former towns and cities have become infested ruins, where survivors struggle not only against external horrors but against their own despair. Factions and fortune seekers, known as "stalkers," venture into the Zone with hopes of finding unimaginable riches or simply surviving another day.

But, amidst the shadows and radioactive mists, there is something more. Something that cannot be described or understood by those who still retain their humanity. The Zone is a place of deep mysteries, where the laws of physics and reality seem to fracture, and where each step could be the last.

You, traveler, find yourself at the crossroads of this place of perdition and hope. Your fate intertwines with that of the Zone, and the echo of its secrets calls to your door. The question you must face is not just whether you will survive, but what price you are willing to pay for the secrets it holds.

The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone has called you. Now, you must answer its challenge and explore the abyss that lies within its heart.

In the midst of a stormy night, with lightning flashing across the sky, a cargo truck struggled along the battered road. Inside the truck's bed, a man leaned against the door, looking as though he might be sick. The camera angle revealed that he was, in fact, a corpse as he rolled over.

As the truck continued its journey, a bolt of lightning struck, bringing forth a being that would change the Zone forever.

The next morning, a man in a leather trench coat, with a sniper rifle slung over his shoulder, ran towards the wreckage of the vehicle. Ensuring it was safe, he approached to inspect the bodies for anything useful. Among the corpses were a man with short black hair and the classic Stalker armor, and beside him, a girl of about fifteen, dressed in a peculiar outfit of torn black and red clothing, with a tattered red cloak. As he moved closer to inspect them, they turned their heads, revealing that they were still alive.

"They seem to be alive. Lucky guys... At least death would have spared them their dreams," he said as he prepared to carry them. "Let's see what Sidorovich will pay for their heads."

Scene Change

In what appeared to be a bunker, an older man was eating a chicken. Without turning to look at the Stalker, he asked, "What do you have?"

"Some bodies, from the death truck. One of them has the Mark," the Stalker said while holding both by their arms.

"Well, you know how it works. Leave them in..." Before the man could continue, the Stalker spoke up.

"They're still alive." The older man looked surprised and turned to face him.

"No way! You're lying!" The Stalker looked confident.

"Let the Zone take me if I lie."

The older man quickly cleared the table. "Put them there." He placed the bodies so he could search for information. Among the items, he found the PDA of the man and a sophisticated device he had never seen before, broken and in poor condition. He connected it with a multiversal cable, and it was enough to know—he left it on the table. The first PDA he turned on had a mission marked:

KILL STRELOK.

"I think... for this, I can give you—" he was saying when the man suddenly woke up, grabbing his PDA as if his life depended on it. He lost consciousness again, his left arm showing a tattoo with the letters S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

"Well, that shows he's still alive," the Stalker said, but noticed the girl who seemed about to wake up. "What about the girl? Do we have any information, Sidorovich?"

"Let me check." Sidorovich turned on the computer and saw information about a student, perhaps American?

"Seems like she's new to the Zone," Sidorovich said. "Take them to the doctor. When they're in better shape, have them come see me."

"As you wish," the Stalker said, taking them to the infirmary, which was an abandoned house in the rookie village.

Sidorovich reviewed Ruby's information and her skills. He was intrigued by all this data, but had a premonition about her and the Marked one.

Ruby Rose woke up groggy with a bandage on her head. She looked around at the abandoned house with several cots where men and women lay. Among them was a man in a white jacket giving blood transfusions to a seated person. She noted that her own clothes were torn and tattered.

"Finally awake. Good, it will make my job easier," said the doctor indifferently. "Do you remember your name and age?"

"Um... My name is Ruby Rose, and I'm fifteen years old. Where am I?"

The doctor used a flashlight to check her eyes. "Well, I guess you're new. Welcome to the Zone."

Confused, Ruby asked, "The Zone? Where in Remnant is that?"

The doctor looked puzzled but decided to leave it at that. "You're fine. I left some spare clothes on that chair. You'll need to pay for the service later," he said before moving on to another patient.

Still confused, Ruby got up and inspected the clothes. It was a sleeveless shirt, jeans, and a heavy leather jacket along with her cloak. She put them on and, pulling aside a curtain that covered her bed, looked out at a ruined village where she saw some men and women in heavy clothing with weapons. Some appeared to be talking with what she thought might be a soldier.

"Welcome to the world of the dead, red parka," said a man in a leather trench coat with a sniper rifle slung over his shoulder. He had short blonde hair and some scars on his face.

"Um... hello, I'm Ruby," she greeted, feeling awkward. "Do you happen to know where I am?" she asked, surveying the place.

"Well, you're in the Cordon, in the Rookie Village. Name's Khan."

"The Cordon? Where in Remnant is that?"

Khan looked confused. "You're in Chernobyl, in the Exclusion Zone," he said.

"The Zone?... I've never heard of this place, or this Chernobyl."

Khan rubbed his head. "I guess being in the death truck affected your head."

Ruby decided to play along until she could find answers about where she was. "Yeah, maybe."

She tried to remember how she had arrived but recalled nothing beyond the academy and a storm.

"Well, welcome to the Zone, Stalker."

"I'm not a Stalker, I'm a Huntress," she replied, though confused by the term.

"I'm sorry to say you're here illegally and I don't think the military will help you get back."

"Wait, the military doesn't help?"

"No," he said, unfazed. "I recommend you talk to Sidorovich. He'll know more than I do," he said, pulling out an older scroll. "I have to go now. Our paths will cross again, along with the Marked. He's in the bunker outside the village."

"Marked?" Ruby asked. If she wanted answers about how she got here, she needed to see Sidorovich.

Ruby entered the makeshift market of Sidorovich, a place filled with strange items and mysterious artifacts. Sidorovich, a rough-looking man with a shrewd expression, was attending to several customers. Ruby approached with determination.

"Excuse me," Ruby asked.

Sidorovich turned to her, assessing her with a smile. "Well, well. Welcome to my humble business, red parka."

"Why do they call me Red Parka?" Ruby asked, curious.

"Well, you were found in one of those death trucks, and you were dressed like that. It's a fitting nickname for someone new to the Zone. But enough of that, take this," he said, handing her an old-fashioned PDA.

"What's this?" Ruby asked.

"This is a PDA. A device that will help you organize your missions, map out the area, and most importantly, detect nearby anomalies. Do you happen to know how you got here?"

Ruby sighed and spoke. "Actually, I don't remember much. Just my school life and my team, and a bit about my family. But I don't remember how I got here."

Sidorovich nodded in understanding. "I get it. The Zone acts in mysterious ways. But to sell it to you..."

Ruby searched the only thing she had, her wallet with some Liem. "Do you accept Liem?"

Sidorovich laughed at that. "Heh, this isn't a multinational bank, girl. I only accept Rubles or dollars."

Ruby put it away, slightly annoyed. "I don't have any of that."

Before Sidorovich could speak further, a Stalker in dark green, lightweight armor with short black hair and a thin build entered. He looked around thirty but had a hardened gaze.

Sidorovich saw him. "Marked, red parka. I saved them and don't think I did it to earn my way into heaven. Do me a couple of favors, and we'll be even."

What do you think? I noticed there weren't any fanfics combining S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and RWBY. For now, this is just a prologue. Have a great day!.
